Not sure which tutor fits? Tell us the class, board and your sector: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.
| Classes a week | Classes a month | At ₹800 an hour | At ₹2,500 an hour |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 8 | ₹6,400 a month | ₹20,000 a month |
| 3 | 12 | ₹9,600 a month | ₹30,000 a month |
In a coaching batch, one teacher's hour is shared by many students, so each family pays for a part of it. At home the whole hour is your child's: the pace, the questions and the homework check follow one student, and the tutor's travel to your home is part of the working day. A small group of two or three children from the same society usually costs less per child, with less individual attention.

Kalyan and Dombivli are two towns on the Ulhas River that share one municipal corporation, the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation, with its headquarters in Kalyan. Most families still name their own town first, and then the side of the railway line they live on. Kalyan West holds the older town around Kalyan Junction, with the Durgadi fort among its historic remains; Kalyan East lies across the tracks; Titwala, Ambivli and Mohone stretch north along the line towards Kasara. In Dombivli, the station divides Vishnu Nagar in the west from Ram Nagar in the east, and the newer buildings of Sagaon, Sonarpada and Nandivli spread out towards the Kalyan-Shilphata Road. Whether you want a home tutor in Kalyan or in Dombivli, two questions decide whether lessons last the year: can the tutor reach your door on the same evening every week, and do they know exactly what your child needs?
Begin with a short message. The useful details are few: your child's class; the board and the medium the school teaches in; the subject or chapter that is going badly; your locality, written with East or West; the evenings that are really free once school and any coaching are over; and whether you would rather have lessons at home, on a screen or both. If you have a monthly budget in mind, add it. From that we put forward two or three matched tutors. Every tutor's fee is visible to you before you meet, and the first lesson with the one you choose is a free demo. Four things specific to these two towns shape who appears on that list:
If the demo does not click, say so and we line up the next name. Changing tutor later costs nothing either.
Search for coaching classes in Kalyan and you will find plenty; ask around Dombivli and someone will name a tuition class two buildings away. Both serve a purpose. Senior students often join a batch built around the HSC or an entrance test, and younger children may sit in a small after-school group. The teacher divides attention among everyone present, the syllabus moves at one speed for the whole room, and the fee per child stays lower for that reason. Children who keep up and ask doubts aloud usually manage well in a class.
A home tutor is a different tool. The whole hour goes to one child, so the tutor sees the exact line where the working breaks, can return to a Class 7 idea that never settled, or can spend a session redrafting board answers. You choose the time, the place is your home or a screen, and you can hear the teaching yourself. In return, one-to-one hours usually cost more than a seat in a group, and home visits rely on a tutor who lives within reach.
Before you decide, ask yourself three things:
NXTutors, for the record, runs no coaching centre, no batches and no tuition classes in either town. We introduce one tutor who teaches your child alone, at home or online. Plenty of families keep both: the batch for entrance practice, the tutor for school chapters and doubts. The free demo is the easy way to see whether one-to-one teaching changes anything for your child.
Tutor suggestions for the two towns are drawn from our pool of tutor profiles, and 20 localities have a separate page. On each one, tutors appear in the same sequence: residents of that locality first, next tutors who already teach there, then others in the zone, then anyone in the city, and finally online tutors. For planning home visits we use six zones, three per town: Kalyan West, Kalyan East, Titwala and Ambivli, Dombivli West, Dombivli East and Sagaon and Sonarpada. We drew these lines ourselves, from the railway line and from which localities neighbour which; they do not follow the corporation's wards.
Rambaug is the busy older core of Kalyan West, with homes, shops and small offices sharing the same lanes. Khadakpada lies a little further out, with Adharwadi, Manisha Nagar and Thankar Pada listed among its neighbours, and many of its families live in apartment buildings. Adharwadi sits right beside Khadakpada, so a tutor living in one can usually take students in the other. Gauripada is on the northern side, towards Yogidham and the Shahad side, where newer apartment buildings are common.
Kalyan Junction, where the Central line suburban routes branch towards Kasara and towards Karjat and Khopoli, is the landmark nearly everyone uses. In Rambaug, lane names repeat, so give the lane, the shop below or beside your door and the nearest chowk. In Khadakpada and Gauripada, write the building, wing and floor, and say whether visitors need an entry slip at the gate. Shopkeeping families often want a slot after closing time; agree a firm end so the child still sleeps early.
Kolsewadi is the main residential and shopping part of Kalyan East, across the railway line from the old town. Tisgaon lies near Chakki Naka and Santosh Nagar, with older family homes and newer apartment buildings side by side. Katemanivali runs along the eastern edge towards Vitthalwadi and the road to Ambernath, and Chinchpada Road and Vijay Nagar Road are also listed among the localities on this side.
Families here tend to say "Kalyan East" before they name the colony, and that habit is worth keeping in a tuition request, because a tutor living in Kalyan West has to cross the tracks to reach you. A tutor who already lives east of the line is often easier to keep for a whole year. Start the address with Kalyan East, then the colony, the lane and the nearest naka, such as Chakki Naka or Tisgao Naka. In Katemanivali, say whether you are nearer Kolsewadi or the Vitthalwadi end. Where parents work changing shifts, fix one regular slot and one back-up slot with the tutor at the start, so a changed roster does not mean a lost week.
Mohone sits on the northern side of Kalyan, close to Ambivli and the Shahad side, with older settlements and newer housing around them. Ambivli lies between Shahad and Titwala, and its station comes after Shahad and before Titwala on the route to Kasara. Titwala, the furthest of the three, feels more like a small town than a suburb, and Khadavli is the next stop beyond it. The corporation's own list of areas includes Ambivli and Titwala alongside Kalyan and Dombivli.
These localities are spread out, and fewer tutors may live inside each one than in central Kalyan. Families often widen the search to tutors who travel from Mohone or Kalyan West, or combine a nearby tutor for a younger child and an online specialist for a Class 11 or Class 12 subject. Give the colony or village name inside the locality, the main road and a map pin, and in Ambivli say whether you are on the Mohone side or the Titwala side. For online lessons, a laptop or tablet with the camera angled at the notebook works much better than a phone held in the hand.
Vishnu Nagar is the central part of Dombivli West, on the western side of Dombivli station, which dates from 1886 and stops both fast and slow locals. Navapada is a residential pocket close to Vishnu Nagar, Shastri Nagar and the Thakurli side. Kopar is on the western edge towards Reti Bunder, with older village lanes and newer buildings around them; its two-level station, opened in 2007, serves both the Central main line and the Vasai Road–Roha route.
Many homes in Vishnu Nagar are older buildings where grandparents, parents and children live together, which makes evening tuition easy to arrange because an adult is usually in. Families on this side often ask for help with language papers as much as with maths and science, and many senior students split the week between junior college and coaching for MHT-CET, JEE Main or NEET. Write Dombivli West, then the building, the road and a shop beside you. In Kopar, say whether you live in the older lanes or the newer buildings. Share coaching timetables and test dates with the tutor, so lessons fit around them.
Ram Nagar is the crowded heart of Dombivli East beside the eastern side of the station, with homes above shops, older buildings and offices close together. Tilak Nagar is a long-settled colony on quieter inner roads near Ram Nagar, and Gopal Nagar lies between Ram Nagar, Tilak Nagar and the road towards Thakurli, with Sudama Nagar also among its neighbours. Thakurli sits between Dombivli and Kalyan, began as a railway colony in British times and has its own station on the Central line.
Because these localities touch one another, the pool of nearby tutors is wide, and Thakurli in particular can draw tutors from Dombivli East, Dombivli West or Kalyan. Many households have a child in Class 10 or Class 12 at any time, while younger families in Gopal Nagar often want help in the primary years. In Ram Nagar, describe the entrance and add a map pin, since some older buildings carry no name board, and ask for an early-evening or weekend-morning slot if your home is near the busy centre. In Thakurli, always say East or West.
Sagaon is on the outer side of Dombivli East, towards the Kalyan-Shilphata Road, and much of its housing is newer complexes with several towers and wings. Sonarpada sits beside Sagaon and the Dombivli East industrial area, with older lanes and newer buildings close together. Nandivli lies near Tukaram Nagar and Sagaon, where an older village core is ringed by newer apartment buildings; Desale Pada and Nandivali Road are among the names listed nearby.
Families who have just moved into a new complex here often start by asking neighbours for a tutor, and a request with the complex name, tower or wing and the correct gate saves the tutor a confused first visit. Say whether visitors register at a security desk. Children in one complex may follow the State Board, CBSE or ICSE, and students who have changed state or board often need a few weeks of bridging work before the new syllabus makes sense. Mention a recent move in your request, so the tutor plans that bridge first. In Sonarpada, say whether you are on the Sagaon side or nearer the industrial area.
Across Kalyan and Dombivli you will find State Board, CBSE and ICSE schools, and families on IB or IGCSE can find tutors too, mostly online. We check board and medium before naming a tutor, since being strong in one paper says little about another.
| Board | Exams and format | A fair question for the tutor |
|---|---|---|
| Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) | SSC when Class 10 ends and HSC when Class 12 ends; HSC students take the Science, Commerce or Arts stream. Teaching may be in Marathi, semi-English or English medium. | In which medium have you taught this class, and from the current state textbooks? |
| CBSE | Built on NCERT books. The Class 10 and Class 12 board papers test whether a student can use a concept on an unfamiliar question. | How will you check my child's written answers against the board's marking schemes? |
| CISCE: ICSE after Class 10, ISC after Class 12 | A broad spread of subjects, lengthy written answers, set English literature texts and projects. | How will you pace revision so the last month is not a scramble? |
| IB Diploma and Cambridge IGCSE | IB: Internal Assessment and the Extended Essay as well as final exams. IGCSE: practice built on past papers and mark schemes. | How will you advise on coursework while keeping it entirely my child's work? |
For the State Board, each year's timetable, results and circulars appear on mahahsscboard.in; rely on that site, not on a forwarded image. Our pages for Maharashtra Board tutors in Kalyan-Dombivli, CBSE home tutors in Kalyan-Dombivli and ICSE home tutors in Kalyan-Dombivli cover each board in more detail, and IB or IGCSE students usually work with a specialist online.
For young children the job is routine: reading aloud each day, tables that come without counting, tidy working and a notebook that gets finished. In homes where Marathi, Hindi or Gujarati is the everyday language, a tutor who first explains a new word in that language and then has the child use it in English makes school far less frightening. Keep an eye on Classes 6 to 8, the years of fractions, negative numbers and first algebra, when many children quietly decide maths is not for them.
Science splits into three subjects in Class 9 and maths speeds up. A good tutor secures those chapters that year, so Class 10 becomes revision rather than rescue. For SSC students the language papers deserve real effort: essays, letters and summaries earn marks that maths alone cannot replace. CBSE families may find two of our guides handy: how to prepare for Class 10 maths and our Class 10 science notes.
The move to junior college is steep: long physics numericals, a deeper level of chemistry and maths, or commerce subjects such as accountancy starting from zero. A separate specialist for each subject that troubles your child usually beats a single tutor stretched over all of them. CBSE students can also use our Class 12 physics strategies and the Class 12 calculus and algebra guide.
Maths and science lead from Class 6 on, yet tutors on NXTutors also cover English, Marathi, Hindi, social science, computer science, accountancy, economics and business studies, and a single tutor can usually handle all subjects for a child in primary school. The city has a page for each core subject: maths, science, physics, chemistry, biology and English.
Homes across the two towns speak many languages, Marathi, Hindi, Gujarati, Urdu, Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada among them, so the medium belongs in your request. Semi-English students usually learn maths and science in English and the rest in Marathi, and they need a tutor at ease in both. A maths tutor traces an error back to where it began, even into an earlier year. A physics tutor wants the situation described in words before an equation appears, and keeps checking units. A chemistry tutor ties numericals, reactions and facts together; our organic and inorganic chemistry guide for Class 12 is one example. An English tutor builds reading for meaning, grammar inside real sentences and complete written answers, which every other paper depends on.
For science students the usual targets are three. MHT-CET is Maharashtra's entrance test for professional courses, held in PCM and PCB groups by the State CET Cell, whose notices appear on cetcell.mahacet.org. The National Testing Agency holds JEE Main and NEET (UG); JEE Advanced, open to those who clear JEE Main, has its own organisers. Each year's dates and rules are in the official bulletins on nta.ac.in and the CET Cell's site. Next to junior college and a coaching batch, a home tutor earns a place with a small, clear brief:
More is on our pages for JEE tutors in Kalyan-Dombivli and NEET tutors in Kalyan-Dombivli. Whatever route your child takes, judge a tutor on the year plan they build together, and treat talk of ranks as a warning sign.
Either can work well; it comes down to the child and the time slot. Lessons at home are the safer start for children younger than about Class 6, for anyone who drifts on a screen, and for subjects where you want every step on paper in front of the tutor. Online lessons reach tutors across India, useful for IB, IGCSE, an unusual ISC elective or high-level problem solving. Some points particular to these towns:
Online works better with a little set-up: a quiet table, a dependable internet connection, a separate notebook for the subject, the camera switched on, and a parent within earshot for the first lessons. Read more on online tutors for Kalyan-Dombivli and in our comparison of home and online tutoring.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
NXTutors does not fix fees; tutors set them, and the fee of each shortlisted tutor is in front of you before any demo. Ask every tutor the same things:
If the budget is tight, put it into the subject that worries you most; a strong tutor in one subject usually achieves more than thin cover across four. We never shortlist anyone above the budget you give us. The pricing guide breaks fees down by class, and our post on home tuition fees in Kalyan-Dombivli adds the local picture.
Profiles help you narrow the list, but an hour of actual teaching settles it. Stay within hearing, or talk to your child afterwards, and think about these:
Share the building, wing, floor and a map pin the evening before, and give the tutor's name at the gate if your complex keeps a visitor book. Use a common room while an adult is home. Our checklist for demo classes goes further.
There is no wrong month to start, though each stretch of the year needs something else. Boards and schools keep different calendars, so check your own school's dates:
An early start leaves the most room, but a child who has slipped behind mid-year still gains from a tutor who goes back before moving on.
Send us the class, board, medium and subjects, the locality with East or West, and the hours your child has free. Read through the two or three tutors we put forward, each with a fee, and pick one for the free demo. Decide only after that first lesson. You can also go straight to your locality's page from the list here, look through tutor profiles, or book a free demo class now. Where no home tutor lives near enough yet, an online tutor can begin at once.
Our Kalyan-Dombivli home tuition guide goes locality by locality through all six zones, from Khadakpada and Kolsewadi on the Kalyan side to Thakurli and Nandivli in Dombivli.
Mumbai, next door, has a separate page: home tutors in Mumbai. Nearby, NXTutors also covers Bhiwandi, Mira-Bhayandar and Vasai-Virar, and further across Maharashtra, Pune, Nashik and Nagpur. Every city we serve is listed on the cities page.
If you are a tutor living in Kalyan or Dombivli, tuition jobs in Kalyan-Dombivli shows the localities where families want help.
Tutors set their own fees, by class, subject and experience. Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. You see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
No, NXTutors has no coaching centre or batches in either town. We match your child with one tutor for one-to-one lessons at your home in Kalyan or Dombivli, or online. You get two or three matched tutors, see each tutor's fee before the free demo class, and switching tutor later is free.
Choose a group class if your child mainly needs a fixed timetable, and a home tutor if someone needs to find what has gone wrong. A tuition class moves at the batch's pace and costs each family less per hour; a tutor works on your child's own gaps, in the State Board medium or CBSE or ICSE syllabus your child follows. The free demo class lets you try one-to-one teaching first.
