Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

In homes across Kalyan and Dombivli, the Class 11 or 12 science student usually has the busiest calendar in the family. Junior college brings lectures and practical slots, many students add a coaching batch for an entrance exam, and weekends fill with tests. Missing from all that is an unhurried hour with someone who reads the student's own working and finds the step where the physics broke. That hour is what a home tutor provides. Tell NXTutors the board, the exam in view and your locality, and we suggest two or three physics tutors who can come at a sensible time. Their fees are listed before you decide, and the first lesson is a free demo.
A chapter on current electricity looks the same in every syllabus, yet each paper rewards a different skill. Decide with the tutor which paper leads this term, since that sets the homework.
| Paper | Format | Marking | Habit it builds |
|---|---|---|---|
| HSC Physics (subject 54), State Board | Theory and practical spread over Standards XI and XII | Set out in the board's current scheme | Complete written answers and a journal kept up to date |
| CBSE Class 12 Physics (042) | A 70-mark theory paper with every question compulsory, plus a 30-mark practical | Constants printed; calculators not allowed | Derivations, labelled figures and case-study reading |
| JEE Main, as set in 2026 | 25 physics items in Paper 1, five of them numerical-value | Four marks gained or one lost per attempt | Long chains of reasoning without a slip |
| NEET (UG), as set in 2026 | A quarter of the 180 questions and 180 of the 720 marks; answered on paper | Four marks gained or one lost per attempt | Accuracy at NCERT level and restraint with guesses |
| MHT-CET | The State CET Cell's test, with PCM and PCB groups | Read on cetcell.mahacet.org | Speed on familiar board topics |
The body that conducts an entrance exam writes its syllabus, and it may keep chapters a school board has dropped, so look at the current bulletin on nta.ac.in before cutting anything. How we match for each exam is set out on our JEE home tutor and NEET home tutor pages for Kalyan-Dombivli.
On the Maharashtra State Board's HSC subject list, Physics is subject 54. Most students study it at a junior college, where lectures move quickly and practicals run in a fixed slot. The board publishes the paper's evaluation scheme on mahahsscboard.in, and a tutor should work from that year's version, along with the prescribed textbook and the board's sample question papers.
The State Board recognises both Marathi-medium and English-medium schools, and some students reach junior college after studying science in Marathi or in a semi-English class. For them, the first months of Standard XI can feel like learning physics and a new vocabulary at once. A tutor who explains the idea in the language the student is at ease in, then has the answer written with the English terms of the textbook, closes that gap quickly. The other steady job is the journal: experiments written up while they are fresh, not in a rush before the practical exam. Our Maharashtra Board home tutor in Kalyan-Dombivli page covers the board's other subjects.
CBSE's 2026-27 sample paper follows the previous year's design. By content, electricity and magnetism (electrostatics up to alternating current) bring 33 of the 70 theory marks; optics and electromagnetic waves 18; dual nature, atoms and nuclei 12; and semiconductor electronics 7. Transistors and logic gates have left the syllabus, so notes that still cover them belong to an older course. By format, the paper looks like this:
| Section | Questions | Rehearse |
|---|---|---|
| A, one mark | 16 (12 multiple-choice, 4 assertion–reason) | Definitions, graphs and units recalled quickly |
| B, two marks | 5 | Short derivation steps and single-formula numericals |
| C, three marks | 7 | A figure plus a worked result |
| D, four marks | 2 case studies | Reading the passage before writing anything |
| E, five marks | 3 long answers | Full derivations with a diagram at the start |
Close to two-fifths of the marks (about 38%) are for recall. Constants appear on the paper and no calculator is allowed. Our Class 12 physics strategies list the derivations that recur, and the Class 12 physics tutor page describes a board-year plan.
Coaching seldom spends a minute of class time on the practical, yet the marks are real. CBSE gives 14 to two experiments, 5 to the record, 3 to an activity, 3 to the investigatory project and 5 to the viva. The record has to hold at least eight experiments and six activities, split equally across the two sections, plus the project report. State Board students follow the board's own practical scheme and keep a journal.
Without any apparatus, a tutor can still go through the record entry by entry: is there an aim, a labelled figure, a tidy table of readings and a result with its unit? Precautions and sources of error can be learned for each experiment. And a mock viva prepares the student for the questions examiners like: why repeat a reading, what a graph's gradient stands for, and what job the rheostat is doing in the circuit.
For a student who already has college and coaching, two home sessions a week with different purposes usually work better than more of the same:
The plan for the following week then comes from that sorted list. We weigh up JEE coaching against a home tutor and do the same for NEET; for chapter priorities, see the JEE physics topic-wise plan and the high-yield NEET physics chapters. Whatever the plan, the home slots must not clash with the coaching timetable.
Marks in physics are lost to the same few mistakes again and again: a missing sketch, a law applied to the wrong system, a unit dropped halfway down the page, an answer with an impossible sign. An error notebook makes those habits visible. For each wrong question it holds the original attempt, untouched, one sentence on what went wrong, and a fresh solution written a few days later without looking.
Bring that notebook, or a couple of recent tests, to the free demo. Within a few pages, a good tutor should be able to tell you which habit is costing your child the most, and how the first month of lessons would deal with it.
A senior student is often home only by evening, and a late lesson holds up only if the tutor's route does. In both towns the railway line is the main divide, so a tutor from your own side is the easier long-term choice. The six localities below are on the Kalyan side and the northern stretch; the Kalyan-Dombivli page lists Dombivli's localities too.
| Locality | Setting | Tell the tutor | Tip |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gauripada | Northern Kalyan West, towards Yogidham; many newer apartment buildings and junior-college students | Society name, tower or wing, and whether the gate needs an entry slip | Weekend mornings suit a week already full of lectures and practicals |
| Khadakpada | Residential Kalyan West, apartment buildings, often both parents at work | Building, wing, floor and the chowk you turn off | Settle who will be home when the tutor arrives |
| Katemanivali | Eastern edge of Kalyan East, towards Vitthalwadi and the road to Ambernath | Whether you are nearer Kolsewadi or the Vitthalwadi end | Agree a regular slot and a backup slot if family shifts change |
| Tisgaon | Kalyan East near Chakki Naka; older homes beside newer buildings | Kalyan East first, then Tisgaon, lane, building and the nearest naka | A tutor who lives east of the line is easier to keep all year |
| Titwala | The northern end, beyond Ambivli on the Kasara line; a small-town feel | Colony or village name, the main road and a map pin | Fewer tutors may live inside Titwala, so online physics often helps |
| Ambivli | Between Shahad and Titwala; colonies and newer apartment buildings | Mohone side or Titwala side, plus a building or shop by the gate | Start before the evening rush, or move one weekly session online |
On days when college finishes late, the same tutor can take that lesson online instead. More local advice is on the Kalyan West and Titwala and Ambivli zone pages.
ISC students sit a theory paper alongside practical work and a project assessed by CISCE, and full reasoning matters more than a bare formula; confirm the tutor is using your exam year's syllabus. In the IB Diploma, physics is organised under five lettered themes, the written papers count for 80% and the internal investigation, planned and written by the student alone, for 20%; our IB physics SL and HL guide explains more. Cambridge IGCSE physics is entered at Core or Extended, and a student switching to an Indian board in Class 11 often needs extra work on vectors and graphs.
For most students Standard XI is the time to begin, since mechanics in that year sets up the vector and graph skills that Standard XII keeps using. See our Class 11 physics tutor page and the stream choice guide. Teachers for the international courses are scarcer locally, so an online specialist is often the practical route.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor fixes their own fee. While comparing, find out which papers each one has taught lately (HSC, CBSE, JEE Main, JEE Advanced, NEET or MHT-CET), the latest hour they can manage on a weekday, and whether a session can shift online in test weeks. The shortlist shows every fee before the demo, and our Kalyan-Dombivli home tuition fees guide adds more questions.
Send the standard and board, the main goal (board paper, JEE, NEET or MHT-CET), the days taken up by college or coaching, your locality with a landmark, and the evenings that remain. We share two or three physics tutors with their fees, and you invite one for the free demo. If the first tutor is not right, another gives a demo, and a change later in the year costs nothing. Where no suitable tutor can reach you at your hour, an online or part-online plan is suggested. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how the ID check works). NXTutors works from Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online across India. Compare the national physics home tutor page, physics tutors in Mumbai and the Nagpur page, or see our maths and chemistry pages for Kalyan-Dombivli.
If you teach physics and live in Kalyan or Dombivli, open requests from nearby families are on the Kalyan-Dombivli tuition jobs page.

NXTutors needs the standard, the board, the main goal, the college or coaching days, your locality with a landmark and the free evenings. The goal matters because HSC, CBSE, JEE, NEET and MHT-CET each reward different habits. We send two or three physics tutors with their fees, the first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.
An HSC physics student should use the home tutor for written board answers, unsolved problems and the practical journal, not repeat lectures. Physics is subject 54 on the State Board HSC list, and its current scheme is on mahahsscboard.in. A tutor can also help students who studied science in Marathi or semi-English settle into the English terms of the textbook.
Electricity and magnetism carry 33 of the 70 theory marks in the CBSE Class 12 physics paper for 2026-27. Optics with electromagnetic waves carries 18, dual nature with atoms and nuclei 12, and semiconductor electronics 7. Transistors and logic gates are no longer in the course, so a tutor should not spend time on them for the board.
Yes, a tutor can prepare much of the practical at home by checking the record, teaching precautions and running a mock viva. CBSE gives 14 marks to two experiments, 5 to the record, 3 to an activity, 3 to the project and 5 to the viva. The record needs at least eight experiments, six activities and the project report.
A separate home tutor still helps when coaching leaves problems unsolved and board writing unchecked. Coaching batches move at the pace of the room, so a one-to-one session can rework skipped sheet problems and mark derivations written in board style. Keep the home slots clear of the coaching timetable, and sort every test error into a concept gap, a slip or a question to skip.
A Gauripada student can often fit physics tuition into a weekend morning, when lectures and practicals are not running. Many students in Gauripada are in junior college with a full week already. Give the tutor the society name, the tower or wing, and say whether visitors need an entry slip at the gate, so the first lesson starts on time.
Online physics is often the practical choice for a senior student in Titwala who needs a specialist for HSC physics or JEE Main. Fewer tutors may live inside Titwala than in central Kalyan. Use a quiet corner, a steady connection and a camera angled at the notebook, and ask the tutor for a short note after each online class.
A physics error notebook should hold each wrong question, the original attempt left uncorrected, one sentence on the mistake and a fresh solution written days later. It makes repeated habits visible, such as a missing sketch or a dropped unit. Bring it to the free demo so the tutor can name the habit that costs your child most.
Most students should begin in Standard XI, because the vector and graph skills learned in mechanics return throughout Standard XII. ISC adds practical work and a project, the IB investigation counts for 20% and must be the student's own, and IGCSE is entered at Core or Extended. Teachers for these courses are scarcer locally, so online lessons often help.
