Science home tutor in Kalyan-Dombivli for Classes 6 to 10: words, drawings and reasons in place before Class 11

Ask parents in Kalyan and Dombivli when science got difficult and most name a single year: the one in which "science" split into physics numericals, chemical equations and biology diagrams, all due in the same week. Middle school is where that split begins, and it is the easiest time to set it right. A home science tutor helps a child say an idea in plain words, draw it neatly and write it the way the examiner wants, in the school's own medium. NXTutors suggests two or three science tutors matched to your child's board and your side of town. You can read each fee before you choose, and the first lesson is a free demo.

Which board and book does your child's science come from?

The CBSE and ICSE sections of this page are written by Aaditya Kashyap. Before you compare tutors, check which row below describes your child, because each board names, splits and marks science in its own way.

Class 10 science on the three boards common in Kalyan-Dombivli, and what a tutor should bring to lessons
BoardWhat the subject is calledHow it is examinedTutor should bring
Maharashtra State Board (SSC)Science and Technology, subject 72As set out in the board's current evaluation schemeThe prescribed textbook and the board's sample papers
CBSEScienceAn 80-mark board paper; 20 marks awarded by the schoolNCERT books, CBSE sample papers and marking schemes
CISCE (ICSE)Physics, Chemistry and BiologyThree separate papers, each with internal marksThe school's chosen texts and CISCE specimen papers

How does a science tutor's job change between Class 6 and Class 10?

In Classes 6 and 7, the tutor's task is language as much as science: each activity in the book should end in one correct sentence and a small labelled sketch, using the scientific word instead of the household one. Class 8 is where the three sciences start to feel different, with the first word equations and simple numericals; a parent can check that every numerical answer carries its unit.

Class 9 is heavier than most families expect, with motion, matter and the cell arriving in the same year, so weak chapters need fixing within the month. In Class 10, every chapter is practised as the board will mark it, and the useful test at home is simple: has your child written a full section against the clock? Until then, a single tutor for physics, chemistry and biology is usually the sensible choice, because one person sees whether a wrong answer comes from arithmetic or from the idea itself. The national science home tutor page shows how we match, and our Class 9 science tutor page looks at that difficult year.

What should a State Board family know about SSC Science and Technology?

The Maharashtra State Board holds the SSC examination at the end of Standard X. Its SSC subject list calls the subject Science and Technology and numbers it 72, in the same group as mathematics. The title says something about the course: children are expected to explain how a thing works and where an idea is used, not only to recite a definition. The board publishes its evaluation scheme on mahahsscboard.in, and a tutor should plan from this year's version, not a guidebook from several years ago.

Three points matter for State Board children in particular. Practical work and the journal kept at school belong to the course, so tuition must not crowd them out. Many children here study in semi-English classes, where science comes in English while other subjects stay in Marathi, and fresh terms appear every week from Class 5 or 6; a notebook of terms with meanings in both languages makes tests far less daunting. And practice should start from the prescribed textbook and the board's own sample papers. Our Maharashtra Board home tutor in Kalyan-Dombivli page covers the rest of the SSC subjects.

Where do the CBSE Class 10 science marks come from?

CBSE sets an 80-mark board paper. The other 20 marks are awarded in school, 5 each for the portfolio, periodic tests, multiple assessment and subject enrichment through practical work. Its five units carry very different weights:

CBSE Class 10 science units with their board marks, and where children commonly drop marks
UnitMarksWhere marks slip away
Chemical Substances: Nature and Behaviour25Unbalanced equations and confused names of compounds
World of Living25Processes written out of order; diagrams without labels
Effects of Current13Units dropped in electricity numericals
Natural Phenomena12Ray diagrams drawn without arrows or a sign convention
Our Environment5Skipped in revision because it looks small

Sorted by skill, half the paper tests remembering and understanding, 30% tests applying an idea, and 20% asks the child to analyse or evaluate. Read our CBSE Class 10 science notes for the chapters, and the Class 10 science tutor page for a board-year plan.

What does the CBSE science paper look like, and what is left to the school?

The 2026-27 sample paper holds 39 questions. Twenty are one-mark items, mixing multiple-choice and assertion–reason; six need two-mark answers and seven need three; three are four-mark questions built on a case or a source; and three are five-mark long answers. Each block wants a different drill at home: quick spoken rounds for the one-mark items, one distinct point per mark for short answers, two careful readings of the passage before a case question, and a labelled diagram or balanced equation at the heart of every long answer. Use CBSE's own sample papers and marking schemes on cbseacademic.nic.in.

Three topics are assessed by the school in 2026-27 and do not appear on the board paper: evolution, the periodic classification of elements, and the group of ideas around electromagnetic induction, the generator and the electric motor. Teach them properly, since Class 11 builds on all three, but spend board revision on the rest. The board's questions also lean on 14 experiments named in the curriculum. After the compulsory main exam, CBSE lets eligible students take an optional second attempt in up to three subjects, science included; its schedule comes from cbse.gov.in, and our board-year planner sets out the months.

Why won't an older sibling's Class 9 notebook match this year's CBSE book?

CBSE's Class 9 science for 2026-27 follows NCERT's newer book, Exploration. The exam is still out of 80, with 20 internal marks, but the units are new: matter is worth 27, the living world 25, motion, force, work and sound 23, and the Earth as a system 5. A notebook from a brother or sister follows the old book and its order, so the tutor should plan from the new chapters.

How is ICSE science different?

CISCE examines Physics, Chemistry and Biology as three separate ICSE papers, and each carries internal marks of its own. Schools pick textbooks within the council's syllabus, so lessons should follow those books and the CISCE specimen papers rather than an NCERT scheme. Precise definitions and fully worked numericals are where ICSE marks are won. A tutor with recent ICSE experience can take a little longer to find, so name the board in your first message; online lessons widen the choice.

Science tuition in Kalyan and Dombivli: how does your locality shape the after-school slot?

Science lessons for Classes 6 to 10 usually sit between school and dinner, so a tutor living on your side of the railway line is the one you will keep. The six localities below are in Kalyan West, Kalyan East and the north; every locality in both towns is on the Kalyan-Dombivli page.

Kalyan West

Many homes in Adharwadi have two children in school, and one tutor teaching them back to back on the same evening saves a second trip; send a map pin and your building or chawl name. In Rambaug, one of the older, busier parts of town, families who run a shop often want the hour after closing, and because lane names repeat, give the shop beside your door and the nearest chowk.

Kalyan East

In Kolsewadi, many children are in semi-English classes, so a tutor who starts a two-language word list early pays off by Class 8. For Tisgaon, near Chakki Naka, write Kalyan East first, then the colony, lane and building, and leave a short break between school and the lesson.

Ambivli and Mohone

Tutors for Ambivli often travel from Mohone or Kalyan West, so say whether you are on the Mohone side or the Titwala side and choose a slot before the evening rush. Many Mohone families want help in Classes 6 to 8; ask the tutor to recheck old diagrams and definitions in the first fortnight.

The Kalyan East and Titwala and Ambivli zone pages have more local tips, and the Kalyan-Dombivli home tuition guide covers Dombivli's zones too.

What five things should you look for in your child's science notebook?

Whatever the board, these are the places where a careful child collects marks and a hurried child gives them away. Open the notebook once a month and look for:

  1. Light. Rays with arrowheads, virtual rays shown dotted, and each image marked real or virtual.
  2. Electricity. Standard circuit symbols, an ammeter placed in series and a voltmeter connected across the component.
  3. Biology drawings. Heart, nephron and digestive system drawn in pencil, labelled and spelt correctly.
  4. Chemistry. Every equation balanced, with state symbols wherever a question asks for them.
  5. Heredity. Crosses written out step by step before any ratio is given.

During the free demo, ask the tutor to teach the current school chapter and see whether these habits come up unprompted. Our demo class checklist has more pointers. If the first tutor does not suit, another tutor on your shortlist gives a demo, and a change later on is free.

How much does a science home tutor in Kalyan-Dombivli charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor chooses their own rate. For a child between Class 6 and Class 10, ask how the tutor would balance new chapters against revision across the year, and whether a weekly session could sometimes move online. You see every fee before the demo; the Kalyan-Dombivli home tuition fees guide lists other questions worth asking.

What happens after you ask us for a science tutor?

Tell us the class, board and school medium, the part of science that troubles your child, your locality and a landmark, and the free afternoons or evenings. A shortlist of two or three science tutors arrives with their fees, and you invite one for a free demo. If none of them can manage your hour, an online or part-online plan is offered instead. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how the ID check works). For Classes 11 and 12, our physics, chemistry and biology pages cover Kalyan-Dombivli, and families can also compare science tutors in Mumbai or the Nashik page.

Science teachers living in Kalyan or Dombivli who want students near home can find open requests on the Kalyan-Dombivli tuition jobs page.

Science Home Tutor in Kalyan-Dombivli: common questions

How much does a science home tutor for Classes 6 to 10 charge in Kalyan-Dombivli?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Science tutors in Kalyan and Dombivli set their own fees, and every fee appears on your shortlist before the demo, so you can compare before anyone visits.

What should a Kalyan-Dombivli parent tell NXTutors when asking for a science tutor?

Tell NXTutors the class, the board, the school medium, the part of science that troubles your child, your locality and your free hours. Those details decide which tutors can teach the right book at the right time. NXTutors replies with two or three science tutors and their fees, and the first class with the one you pick is a free demo.

What is SSC science called on the Maharashtra State Board subject list?

On the Maharashtra State Board SSC subject list, the subject is called Science and Technology and carries the number 72. It sits in the same group as mathematics. The title hints at the course style, which expects a child to explain how things work and where ideas are used. Check the current evaluation scheme on mahahsscboard.in before planning revision.

How can a tutor help a Kolsewadi child who studies science in a semi-English class?

A tutor can build a small two-language notebook of science terms, adding new words each week as the school introduces them. In semi-English classes, science is taught in English while other subjects stay in Marathi, and Kolsewadi children often meet many new terms at once around Class 5 or 6. Explaining in Marathi first and writing in English works well.

Which CBSE Class 10 science units carry the most board marks?

Chemical Substances and World of Living carry the most board marks, 25 each out of the 80 on the CBSE paper. Effects of Current carries 13, Natural Phenomena 12 and Our Environment 5. The school awards the other 20 marks through the portfolio, periodic tests, multiple assessment and practical-based subject enrichment, 5 marks each.

Which CBSE Class 10 science topics should a Kalyan-Dombivli tutor treat as school-assessed?

In 2026-27, three topics are assessed by the school and left off the CBSE board paper. They are evolution, the periodic classification of elements, and the group of ideas around electromagnetic induction, the generator and the electric motor. All three return in Class 11, so a tutor should teach them properly while keeping board revision for the rest of the syllabus.

Why should a Class 9 CBSE student avoid an older sibling's science notes?

An older sibling's notes follow the earlier book, while CBSE Class 9 science now uses NCERT's newer book, Exploration. The exam is still 80 marks with 20 internal, but the units have changed, with matter worth 27, the living world 25, motion, force, work and sound 23, and Earth as a system 5. A tutor should plan from the new chapters.

Do ICSE students in Kalyan and Dombivli write one science paper or three?

ICSE students write three separate science papers, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, each with its own internal marks set by CISCE. Schools choose their own textbooks within the council's syllabus, so lessons should follow those books and the CISCE specimen papers. Teachers with recent ICSE experience can take longer to find, so mention the board early.

Can one tutor teach science to two siblings in Adharwadi on the same evening?

Yes, one tutor can teach two siblings back to back on the same evening, which saves a second trip and keeps the routine simple. Many Adharwadi homes have two children in school at once. The plan suits families where the children are close in age or need different subjects, such as science for one and English for the other.

Which diagrams should a Kalyan-Dombivli student practise most before the Class 10 science exam?

Ray diagrams, circuit drawings and the main body systems deserve the most practice before the Class 10 exam. Rays need arrowheads, circuits need standard symbols with the ammeter in series, and the heart and nephron need neat labels spelt correctly. A tutor should also check that every chemical equation is balanced and every heredity cross is written step by step.
