Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Families in Kalyan and Dombivli rarely ask us for "more maths". They ask for one adult who will look at their child's own notebook and say, calmly, which line went wrong and why. A teacher with a full classroom cannot do that for every child, and a coaching batch moves on before the doubt is cleared. A home tutor can. Tell NXTutors the class, the board (State Board SSC or HSC, CBSE, ICSE, ISC or an international course), the school medium and the part of town you live in, east or west of the railway line. A shortlist of two or three maths tutors comes back, each with a fee you can read before anyone visits, and the first class with the tutor you pick is a free demo.
Abhinandan Tiwary wrote the CBSE and ICSE Class 10 maths guidance on this page, and Ajay Vatsyayan the ISC, IB and IGCSE parts; the State Board rows rest on the board's own schemes and subject lists. Pick out your child's row and carry its question into your first call with a tutor.
| Course | Set by | What to know | Ask the tutor |
|---|---|---|---|
| SSC Mathematics (Standards IX and X) | Maharashtra State Board | Listed as subject 71; algebra and geometry both run through the two years | How will you keep geometry from slipping to the end of the year? |
| HSC Mathematics and Statistics (40), Arts and Science | Maharashtra State Board | An 80-mark paper with chapter marks fixed in the scheme | Which chapters would you start in Standard XI? |
| HSC Maths and Statistics for Commerce (88) | Maharashtra State Board | A separate subject code from the science paper | Have you taught the Commerce paper itself? |
| Class 10, Standard or Basic | CBSE | 80 board marks and 20 from the school | Which level suits my child, and why? |
| ICSE Class 10; ISC Class 12 | CISCE | Written paper plus internal or project marks | Which exam year's syllabus will you follow? |
| IB Diploma; Cambridge IGCSE | IB; Cambridge | IB papers plus an exploration; IGCSE Core or Extended | Which course or tier have you taught lately? |
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education holds the SSC examination at the end of Standard X and the HSC at the end of Standard XII. On the board's SSC subject list, Mathematics appears as subject 71, grouped with science. The syllabus that leads to it begins in Standard IX, and it carries algebra and geometry side by side, so a child who is strong in one can still be quietly falling behind in the other.
Plenty of parents in Kalyan and Dombivli start looking for a tutor only once Standard X begins. A Standard IX start gives the tutor two full years and leaves the last months for timed practice. Four habits make the difference:
The board decides the paper pattern and the timetable, so read the current evaluation scheme on mahahsscboard.in before you fix a plan. Other SSC and HSC subjects are covered on our Maharashtra Board home tutor in Kalyan-Dombivli page.
For Standards XI and XII, most State Board students move to a junior college. In its Standard XII scheme for Mathematics and Statistics (subject 40), common to Arts and Science, the board puts a mark value on every chapter, counting the options inside the paper. Each of the two parts adds up to 56. Read side by side, the parts tell a tutor where the weight lies:
| Part I chapter | Marks | Part II chapter | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vectors | 12 | Indefinite Integration | 10 |
| Trigonometric Functions | 10 | Differentiation | 9 |
| Line and Plane | 10 | Applications of Derivatives | 9 |
| Mathematical Logic | 8 | Differential Equations | 8 |
| Matrices | 6 | Definite Integration | 6 |
| Pair of Straight Lines | 6 | Probability Distributions; Binomial Distribution | 5 each |
| Linear Programming | 4 | Application of Definite Integration | 4 |
Two patterns stand out. In Part I, vectors and three-dimensional work (Vectors, Line and Plane) bring 22 marks together, so a student who finds space hard to picture needs sketches from the very first week. In Part II, the six calculus chapters add up to 46 of the 56 marks, so weak differentiation in Standard XI follows a student through nearly all of that part. The scheme fixes the kind of thinking as well: roughly 30% knowledge, 42% understanding and 28% application and skill, and no more than 15% theory. In practice, a tutor should fill the hour with problems to solve rather than proofs to memorise.
Eighty marks are on offer, spread over four sections. Section A mixes eight multiple-choice items worth two marks each with four very short answers of one mark. In Section B a student answers any eight of twelve two-mark questions, in Section C any eight of twelve three-mark questions, and in Section D any five of eight four-mark questions. A new page is started for each section.
A tutor who sets one full timed paper a month from Standard XII's second term, then goes through every lost mark with the student, usually does more good than extra chapters squeezed into the final weeks.
Many science students in junior college sit an entrance test as well. MHT-CET, Maharashtra's common entrance test for professional courses, is run by the State CET Cell, and its syllabus and pattern should be taken only from cetcell.mahacet.org. The National Testing Agency conducts JEE Main. The 2026 Paper 1 set 25 questions in mathematics, of which 5 asked for a numerical value and 20 gave options; a right answer scored four and a wrong one lost a mark. NTA republishes the pattern each year on jeemain.nta.nic.in, so check it before planning.
One tutor can carry both kinds of work if the week is split on purpose. One session is for a full written board answer, marked line by line. The other is a timed objective set, with each error copied into a log and tried again a week later. If the student already attends coaching, the home tutor's share is the coaching sheet's unsolved problems and the board-style writing that coaching rarely checks. See the Class 12 maths tutor page, our JEE coaching or home tutor article, the topic-by-topic JEE maths plan and the JEE home tutor in Kalyan-Dombivli page.
Children in both towns also study in CBSE and ICSE schools, and each examiner rewards slightly different habits. In the CBSE Class 10 paper for 2026-27, geometry is worth 15 of the 80 board marks and algebra 20; another 20 are assessed in school, and no calculator may be used. Choose Standard over Basic if maths might continue after Class 10. Students may also take an optional second Class 10 exam to raise marks in up to three subjects, with dates published on cbse.gov.in. In Class 12, the CBSE paper has 38 questions, all compulsory, for 80 marks.
ISC maths for the 2027 and 2028 exams has a single 80-mark paper and no longer lets students pick between sections, which makes vectors, linear programming and probability unavoidable; projects bring in the other 20 marks. The IB Diploma exploration counts for 20% at either level and has to be written by the student alone. On Cambridge IGCSE, the Core tier cannot lead to a grade above C, which is why the tier deserves an early word with the school. Teachers for these courses can be harder to find nearby, and an online specialist often fills the gap. The railway line divides both towns into east and west, and it decides which tutors can reach you easily. These six localities come from Kalyan West, Kalyan East and the northern side towards Titwala. Every locality, including those in Dombivli, is listed on our Kalyan-Dombivli page.
In Khadakpada, many families live in apartment buildings with both parents at work, so settle who will be at home when the tutor arrives and give the building, wing and floor. Gauripada, on the northern side towards Yogidham, has many junior-college students; a weekend morning often suits them, and the tutor should know whether the gate needs an entry slip.
Families in Kolsewadi usually say "Kalyan East" before the colony name, and a tutor who already lives east of the tracks is easier to keep for a full year. In Katemanivali, where some parents work shifts, agree one regular slot and one backup slot, and say whether you are nearer Kolsewadi or the Vitthalwadi end.
Titwala feels like a small town of its own, and fewer tutors may live inside it, so a home tutor for the younger child and an online specialist for HSC maths can work well together. Mohone families often ask for help in Classes 6 to 8; a good tutor tests fractions, decimals and negative numbers in the first fortnight.
The zone guides for Kalyan West, Kalyan East and Titwala and Ambivli carry more local tips, and the Kalyan-Dombivli home tuition guide covers every zone, Dombivli included.
The spoken explanation can be in any language; the written answer cannot. Children here study on the State Board in Marathi, semi-English or English medium, or in CBSE and ICSE schools, and the board recognises both Marathi-medium and English-medium schools. Many homes speak Marathi, Hindi or Gujarati, and other languages too. In a semi-English class, maths is taught in English while some other subjects stay in Marathi, and word problems are where that switch trips children up. The tutor can talk a difficult step through in whatever language your child is most at ease in, and should then insist on the textbook's own terms on paper. Mention the medium and the home language in your request, and in the demo watch what the tutor makes your child write, not only what is said.
Sitting at the same table helps most with younger children, with geometry constructions and with any child who loses focus on a screen. Online lessons make sense when the right specialist lives on the other side of the tracks or in the other town, for ISC or IB courses with few local teachers, and for late evenings when a junior-college student would otherwise wait for a tutor caught in the rush. A common plan is one visit and one online session each week with the same person. Our online tutors for Kalyan-Dombivli page and the home tutor or online tutor article compare the two.
Put the latest test paper and the current school notebook on the table, and ask the tutor to teach whatever chapter the class is on this week. Then look for four things:
If the fit is wrong, tell us and another tutor from the shortlist gives a demo; switching tutor later is free too. Our demo class checklist for parents lists more questions.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own rate, which tends to reflect the course, their experience of teaching it, the trip to your side of town and how many sessions you book a week. All fees are on the shortlist before the demo, and the Kalyan-Dombivli home tuition fees guide suggests what to ask.
A good request names the class and the course in full (SSC, HSC Mathematics and Statistics, the Commerce paper or CBSE Standard, for instance), any entrance test in view, the school medium and the language spoken at home, your locality, a landmark and your side of the line, and the evenings that are free. Two or three maths tutors are then suggested with their fees, and you invite one for a free demo. Where no tutor can manage your hour, an online or part-online plan is the fallback. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how the ID check works). NXTutors is based in Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online across India. Maths teachers living in Kalyan or Dombivli who want students near home can see open requests on the Kalyan-Dombivli tuition jobs page.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each maths tutor in Kalyan-Dombivli sets their own rate, usually shaped by the course, the trip to your side of the railway line and the sessions booked each week. You see every fee before the demo.
Send NXTutors the class, the full course name, the school medium, your locality with a landmark and the evenings you can offer. Say which side of the railway line you live on, because it decides which tutors can reach you easily. We reply with two or three maths tutors and their fees, the first class is a free demo, and changing tutor later costs nothing.
Standard IX is usually the right point to start, a full year before the SSC exam at the end of Standard X. Algebra and geometry both run through those two years, and starting early lets a tutor give each a fixed weekly slot. The last months can then go on timed practice from the textbook and the board's own sample papers rather than new chapters.
Differentiation and vectors are the two places to start early, because both carry heavy marks in Standard XII. In the board's scheme, Vectors alone is worth 12 marks with options counted, and the six calculus chapters bring 46 of the 56 marks in Part II. A student who is unsure of differentiation in Standard XI usually struggles across most of that part.
No, the board allows log tables in the HSC Mathematics and Statistics paper but not a calculator. Students in Kalyan and Dombivli therefore need regular practice with written arithmetic through Standards XI and XII. Only the first attempt at a multiple-choice answer is evaluated, so the chosen letter should be written once, cleanly, and never overwritten.
Yes, one tutor can prepare a student for both, as long as the week is split between board writing and timed objective work. One session can be a full board-style answer marked line by line, and the other a timed set with an error log. MHT-CET is run by the State CET Cell, so its pattern should be read only on cetcell.mahacet.org.
Usually yes, because a tutor who does not have to cross the tracks finds it easier to keep the same slot all year. Families in Kolsewadi, Tisgaon and Katemanivali often say Kalyan East before the colony name for this reason. If the right tutor lives in Kalyan West, one online session a week can ease the travel.
A Titwala family can widen the search to tutors who travel from Ambivli or Mohone, or mix home and online lessons. Fewer tutors may live inside Titwala than in central Kalyan, so many households keep a home tutor for a younger child and choose an online specialist for HSC or JEE maths. Ask for a short note after each online class.
A semi-English student should understand each idea in the easiest language, then write every answer with the English terms used in the textbook. In semi-English classes maths is taught in English while some subjects stay in Marathi, and word problems often go wrong at that switch. A tutor can keep a small two-language glossary of terms for the child.
Notice whether the tutor reads your child's old answers before teaching and lets your child do most of the writing. Feedback should point to an exact line, such as a flipped ratio, and the working should follow the examiner's layout for SSC, HSC or CBSE. If the fit feels wrong, another tutor from your shortlist can give the next demo.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
