Tutoring in Kalyan-Dombivli: what to know
Tutors on NXTutors see Kalyan and Dombivli as six zones, three in each town, split mostly by the railway line. In Kalyan, Kalyan West covers Rambaug, Khadakpada, Adharwadi and Gauripada around Kalyan Junction; Kalyan East takes in Kolsewadi, Tisgaon and Katemanivali across the tracks; and Titwala and Ambivli runs north along the Kasara line with Mohone. In Dombivli, Dombivli West holds Vishnu Nagar, Navapada and Kopar; Dombivli East holds Ram Nagar, Tilak Nagar, Gopal Nagar and Thakurli; and Sagaon and Sonarpada, with Nandivli, sits on the outer side towards the Kalyan-Shilphata Road. Families almost always say East or West first, and many live in apartment buildings with several wings.
Most students you meet will be on the Maharashtra State Board, heading for the SSC at Class 10 or the HSC at Class 12, and they may study in Marathi, semi-English or English medium. Others are in CBSE or ICSE schools, and the odd IB or IGCSE learner usually wants online lessons. Senior students often combine junior college with a coaching batch for MHT-CET, JEE Main or NEET, so your hour should cover what the batch leaves out: school chapters, written answers and doubts. If you teach at coaching classes yourself, offer families only the hours you can truly keep for one-to-one work, and state your teaching languages on your profile.
Choose home visits, online lessons or both. Take a request from a parent in Tilak Nagar: the two or three names put forward come first from tutors who live in Tilak Nagar, then from tutors who already teach there, then from Dombivli East, the rest of the city and online. The family sees your fee before the free first demo, and they can change tutor later without paying anything extra. Because crossing the tracks every evening wears tutors down, list the localities on your own side of the line that you can reach on time each week, and teach anyone beyond them on video.

A family nearby sends a request
Suppose a family in Gopal Nagar asks for a tutor. NXTutors suggests two or three, starting with tutors resident in Gopal Nagar, next those already teaching in it, then Dombivli East, the rest of the city and online.
-
5
Free demo; the family sees your fee first
Nothing is booked until the family has seen your fee. The first lesson is a free demo at their home with a parent asked to be in, and it shows you where the student stands and which evenings are really free.

6
Teach at home, online or both
After the demo you can teach at home in the localities you chose, teach students across Maharashtra or the rest of India online, or mix the two, for example a Sunday visit in Sagaon and weekday lessons on video.
Boards you can teach in Kalyan-Dombivli
In Kalyan and Dombivli you are most likely to teach State Board students preparing for the SSC or HSC, in Marathi, semi-English or English medium, along with CBSE pupils, ICSE and ISC candidates and, now and then, an IB or IGCSE learner who studies online. Base State Board lessons on the present state textbooks and take patterns and circulars only from mahahsscboard.in. Plan CBSE lessons from NCERT and the sample papers on cbseacademic.nic.in, CISCE lessons from cisce.org, and international lessons from each programme's official subject guides. Show on your profile exactly which boards, classes and mediums you teach.
MSBSH
SSC (Class 10); HSC (Class 12)
The board holds two public exams: the SSC at the end of Class 10 and the HSC at the end of Class 12, where students take the Science, Commerce or Arts stream. In Kalyan and Dombivli, ask at the demo whether the student learns in Marathi, semi-English or English medium, and explain in the textbook's language. Take timetables, paper patterns and circulars only from mahahsscboard.in.
For a CBSE student in Kalyan or Dombivli, work from the NCERT chapter the class is on, and practise with the sample papers and marking schemes on cbseacademic.nic.in. Ask at the demo which school tests, projects and coaching hours already fill the week, so your lessons go on written answers and checked practice rather than repeating the day's school lesson.
CISCE
ICSE (Class 10); ISC (Class 12)
ICSE at Class 10 and ISC at Class 12 ask for long, well-ordered answers across many subjects, and English includes set literature texts. Build revision on the regulations and specimen papers that cisce.org publishes. A tutor confident with these papers can visit Kalyan or Dombivli homes inside one zone and teach ISC students in other cities by video.
IB
Diploma Programme (Classes 11–12)
An IB Diploma student from Kalyan or Dombivli will most often learn with you online, using the subject guides on ibo.org. You may help plan and give feedback on drafts of the Internal Assessment and the Extended Essay, but everything the student hands in must be the student's own writing. Keep one fixed weekly online slot around the school day.
Establish at the outset which board sets the student's papers, Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel, and the tier. After that, lessons run on past papers, mark schemes and a sure grasp of command words. Cambridge syllabuses are on cambridgeinternational.org, and for a learner in Kalyan or Dombivli an online specialist is usually the practical choice.
