What home tuition costs in Durg

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Example only, not a quote: one subject, one-hour classes, 4 weeks a month. Your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.
Classes a week Classes a month At ₹800 an hour At ₹2,500 an hour
2 8 ₹6,400 a month ₹20,000 a month
3 12 ₹9,600 a month ₹30,000 a month

Why one-to-one home tuition costs more than group coaching

In a coaching batch, one teacher's hour is shared by many students, so each family pays for a part of it. At home the whole hour is your child's: the pace, the questions and the homework check follow one student, and the tutor's travel to your home is part of the working day. A small group of two or three children from the same society usually costs less per child, with less individual attention.

Home tuition in Durg: a parent's guide from Ganjpara to Borsi

Durg stands on the eastern side of the Shivnath River and is the headquarters of Durg district in Chhattisgarh. Its name goes back to Shiva Durg, an old fort on the Shivnath. Bhilai lies right next to it, and the two are often spoken of together, but Durg keeps its own colonies, its own way of giving directions and its own page here. Ganjpara and Gaya Nagar form one close cluster of lanes; Civil Lines, Mohan Nagar and Malviya Nagar make up a belt near the G. E. Road and Station Road; Shankar Nagar leads on to Vijay Nagar, Sai Nagar and Baghera; Kadambari Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, Sikola Basti and Hari Nagar sit around Katulbod towards the Bhilai side; and Padmanabhpur, Borsi and Adarsh Nagar complete the list. For a family looking for a home tutor in Durg, two things decide whether the arrangement lasts: a tutor who can reach the house every week without strain, and a clear idea of what that tutor is there to fix.

How does a Durg family get matched with a tutor?

It starts with a single message from you. Put down your child's class and the board the school follows, the subjects that are causing trouble, the colony you live in with a chowk or shop a newcomer can find, the hours that are actually free after school, and whether you want lessons at the house, on a screen or a mix of the two. A monthly budget, if you have one, keeps the list realistic. We come back with two or three matched tutors. You can read each one's fee before you meet them, and the first class with the tutor you choose is a free demo. In Durg, four details shape the shortlist more than anything else:

  • Which cluster of colonies you live in. Ganjpara, Gaya Nagar and Pachri Para are close neighbours, as are Kadambari Nagar, Jawahar Nagar and Hari Nagar. A tutor who lives inside your own cluster can usually keep the same evening slot all term.
  • How you give directions. Many Durg addresses are easiest to follow as chowk, then lane, then house. If yours works that way, write it that way, and add a pinned location on WhatsApp before the first visit.
  • Board and language. The Chhattisgarh board and CBSE ask for different kinds of preparation, and some children think in Hindi while their school teaches in English. Tell us both, so the tutor can explain in the language that helps.
  • A name shared with another city. Sai Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, Hari Nagar and Shankar Nagar exist in other Indian cities too, and Shankar Nagar is also a Raipur colony. Write the colony name with "Durg" after it, every time.

Treat the demo as an ordinary lesson on the chapter your child is doing this week. If it does not suit you, tell us, and the next tutor on the list takes a turn. Changing tutor later on is free too.

Coaching classes, tuition classes or a home tutor in Durg?

Many Durg parents start their search by looking for a class: a coaching centre for a senior student, or a neighbourhood tuition class where a group of children sits together after school. These are real options, and they suit some children well. A group class follows a fixed timetable, moves through the syllabus at the pace of the batch and costs each family less because the teacher's hour is shared. A child who keeps up, asks questions without being shy and likes studying beside friends can do well in one.

A one-to-one tutor works differently. The hour belongs to one child, so the tutor can stop at the exact step where a sum goes wrong, return to an older chapter that was never understood, or spend a whole session on written answers for the board paper. Lessons happen in your home or online, at an hour you choose, and you can see how your child is being taught. The trade-off is plain: individual attention usually costs more per hour than a seat in a batch, and it depends on finding a tutor who can come regularly.

It helps to be honest about what NXTutors is. We do not run coaching classes or tuition classes in Durg, and we do not hold batches of our own. We match your child with an individual tutor for one-to-one lessons at home or online. Some families use both: a senior student keeps a coaching class for entrance practice and adds a home tutor for school chapters, doubts and board-style answers; a younger child leaves a crowded group class for a tutor who rebuilds the basics. If your child needs someone to find and fix what has gone wrong, rather than a timetable to follow, one-to-one lessons usually fit better, and the free demo lets you test that first.

Durg in five zones

Suggestions for Durg are drawn from our pool of tutor profiles, and 19 Durg localities each have their own page. Every one of those pages lists tutors in the same order: people who live in that locality, then tutors who already travel there, then the rest of its zone, then the whole of Durg, then online tutors. For home visits we group the city into five zones: Ganjpara and Gaya Nagar, Civil Lines and Mohan Nagar, Shankar Nagar and Baghera, Kadambari Nagar and Jawahar Nagar, and Padmanabhpur and Borsi. Each zone is named after two of its colonies rather than a direction. The grouping is our own, drawn from which colonies sit next to which, to plan tutor travel; it is not the municipal corporation's ward map.

Ganjpara and Gaya Nagar: a close cluster of colonies and lanes

Ganjpara is a residential part of Durg with Gaulipara, Mahavir Colony and Gaya Nagar around it, and the district's own directory lists bank branches there. Gaya Nagar lies where Gaulipara, Ganjpara and Shankar Nagar meet, so the side of Gaya Nagar you live on matters to a first-time visitor. Pachri Para sits near Mohan Nagar, Malviya Nagar and Mahavir Colony. Shitala Nagar, which some people spell Shitla Nagar, lies on the Gaya Nagar and Gaulipara side, and Rishabh Nagar is a colony close to Mahavir Colony, Subhash Nagar and New Adarsh Nagar.

Property listings place each of these colonies among the others' nearest neighbours, which is good news for families: a tutor living in one of them can often teach in two or three in a single evening. The flip side is that lanes can look alike to someone new. Name the chowk first, then the lane, then the house; if you live above a shop, the shop name is often the quickest landmark. Ask first for a tutor who lives inside the cluster; a short journey keeps a weekly slot steady through exam months.

Civil Lines and Mohan Nagar: the belt near Station Road and the G. E. Road

Civil Lines is a residential part of Durg with Malviya Nagar, Mohan Nagar, Subhash Nagar and Rishabh Nagar nearby; listings also place Station Road and the Great Eastern Road close to it. Mohan Nagar has its own post office, and Shankar Nagar, Malviya Nagar, Sai Nagar and Sikola Basti all lie around it, so tutors from several directions can reach it. Malviya Nagar sits near the G. E. Road; its post office spells the name Malvia Nagar, which is worth knowing if a tutor searches a map.

Durg Junction, on the Howrah–Nagpur–Mumbai line of South East Central Railway, serves Durg, Bhilai and the nearby areas and has been working since 1891. The G. E. Road, which the district names as National Highway 6, links Durg with Raipur and Nagpur. Where parents keep office hours, tuition in this belt is often planned for late afternoon or early evening, sometimes with a weekday visit at home and a weekend session. In Civil Lines, give the road name and a clear landmark as well as the house number, and for a Class 12 subject consider a nearby home tutor alongside an online specialist.

Shankar Nagar and Baghera: colonies that lead towards Urla

Shankar Nagar connects to Mohan Nagar, Sai Nagar, Baghera, Urla and Gaya Nagar, which makes it a useful base for tutors serving this zone. Vijay Nagar is a colony close to Shankar Nagar, Sai Nagar and Baghera; if your building has more than one entrance, say which to use. Sai Nagar lies on the Shankar Nagar side, with Sikola Basti and Kadambari Nagar also near. Baghera is on the Urla side, near Sai Nagar, Shankar Nagar and Mohan Nagar.

Because Shankar Nagar touches most of the colonies here, a tutor living there is usually the first person to ask about. Baghera sits a little apart, and families there may find fewer home tutors living right next door for senior subjects; a common answer is a home tutor for maths or a younger child, plus an online tutor for Class 11 and 12 physics, chemistry or accountancy. Write "Sai Nagar, Durg" in full in any address, since the name is used in other cities, and in Baghera tell the tutor which road you take from Shankar Nagar and share a map pin.

Kadambari Nagar and Jawahar Nagar: around Katulbod, towards the Bhilai side

Kadambari Nagar is a residential colony near Sikola Basti, Jawahar Nagar, Katulbod and Hari Nagar. Jawahar Nagar sits close to the G. E. Road, with Katulbod, Kadambari Nagar and Sikola Basti nearby. Sikola Basti is often called simply Sikola, so use whichever name the local shopkeepers know. Hari Nagar is a colony near Katulbod and Jawahar Nagar, again with the G. E. Road close by.

These colonies lie towards the Bhilai side of Durg, so a tutor from either twin city may be close enough to come. Ask each one which side they live on and how they would travel; what matters more than the city is that they know your child's board and have taught the class before. Jawahar Nagar and Hari Nagar are names found in other cities, so add "Durg" to the address, and mention the turning you take from the G. E. Road, which is the line most visitors follow to find homes here. Before you confirm, check that the tutor can hold the same slot through the board months.

Padmanabhpur and Borsi: colonies near the boundary with Bhilai

Padmanabhpur is a residential part of Durg near New Adarsh Nagar, Subhash Nagar, Vidyut Nagar, Panchsheel Nagar and Borsi; the district's bank directory sometimes spells it Padmnabhpur. Borsi has its own sub post office and lies close to Vidyut Nagar and Panchsheel Nagar, with Maitri Kunj and Talpur on the Bhilai side among its listed neighbours. Adarsh Nagar, often listed as New Adarsh Nagar, sits near Subhash Nagar, Rishabh Nagar, Vidyut Nagar and Borsi.

Families on this side can draw on tutors from both Durg and Bhilai, which widens the choice for senior subjects. Pick one spelling for Padmanabhpur and keep to it. In Borsi, give the colony name, the block and the nearest chowk; in Adarsh Nagar, say whether you are in the older or the newer part. Siblings here sometimes study under different boards, so mention that in the request and we will look for tutors who have taught both, or suggest two.

Chhattisgarh board, CBSE, CISCE or international: which syllabus is it?

Schools in Durg follow the Chhattisgarh board or CBSE, and a family on ICSE, IB or IGCSE can ask for a tutor too. We check the syllabus before suggesting anyone, because a tutor who knows one paper well may be new to another.

BoardWhat the student sitsA question for the tutor

The Chhattisgarh board was set up by a state notification of July 2001, has run its own examinations since 2002 and has its headquarters at Pension Bada, Raipur. Durg district comes under its Rajnandgaon divisional office. Timetables, results and notices change each year, so read them on cgbse.nic.in rather than from a forwarded message. Our pages on Chhattisgarh board tutors in Durg, CBSE home tutors in Durg and ICSE home tutors in Durg go further, and IB or IGCSE learners usually find the right specialist online.

What should a tutor focus on at each stage of school?

Classes 1 to 8: reading, tables and confidence

At this age a tutor's real work is habits: reading aloud every day, knowing tables without counting, writing neat answers and finishing the notebook. Where a child speaks Hindi at home and studies in English, a tutor who explains a word in Hindi first and then has the child write it in English removes a lot of fear. Around Classes 6 to 8, watch fractions, negative numbers and simple algebra closely; a gap there grows into trouble in the board years.

Classes 9 and 10: the first board in view

Class 9 is when physics, chemistry and biology start to feel like three subjects, and maths speeds up. A tutor should settle these chapters properly, so that Class 10 is spent revising instead of catching up. For CGBSE students the year leads to the High School exam; for CBSE students, to the Class 10 board. Two of our NCERT-based guides help here: a Class 10 Maths preparation plan and Class 10 Science notes.

Classes 11 and 12: a subject specialist

The stream choice in Class 11 brings a big step up: vectors and long numericals in physics, a new depth in chemistry and maths, or accountancy and economics from scratch. One specialist per difficult subject usually works better than one tutor for everything. Our Class 12 Physics strategies and guide to Class 12 calculus and algebra fit the board year.

Which subjects can Durg tutors help with?

Maths and science get much of the attention from Class 6 onwards, but tutors on NXTutors also teach English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Social Science, Computer Science, Accountancy, Economics and Business Studies, and one tutor can often cover every subject for a primary child. Each core subject has its own Durg page: maths, science, physics, chemistry, biology and English.

Whatever the board, a few signs show a tutor who knows the subject. A maths tutor looks for the first wrong step, even when it belongs to last year's chapter, instead of simply re-solving the sum. A physics tutor asks the student to describe what is happening before writing any formula, and checks units at every line. A chemistry tutor keeps numericals, reactions and facts moving together; our Class 12 Organic and Inorganic Chemistry guide shows one way to do it. An English tutor works on reading with understanding, grammar in context, letters and answers, and speaking without hesitation, since good written answers in every other subject lean on English too.

How can a home tutor support JEE or NEET preparation in Durg?

Both national entrance exams are conducted by the National Testing Agency: JEE Main for engineering, and NEET (UG) for medicine, which tests physics, chemistry and biology. Those who qualify in JEE Main can go on to JEE Advanced, which is run separately. Every date and rule belongs to that year's information bulletin on nta.ac.in, so treat anything else as hearsay. A home tutor is most useful when given a clear job alongside school and any coaching:

  1. A weekly doubt session. The student brings the problems that stayed unsolved, and nothing new begins until they are clear.
  2. Board marks protected. Long written answers, practicals and the language papers still count, and entrance practice rarely trains them.
  3. Timed practice, checked line by line. Short problem sets in the weakest subject, marked with the student watching.
  4. One plan for two goals. School books are the base for board papers and much of the entrance syllabus, so revision can serve both at once.

For a student aiming at medicine, the biology textbook repays slow and careful reading, line by line. Read more on our pages for JEE tutors in Durg and NEET tutors in Durg. Whichever route you choose, judge a tutor by how they plan the year with your child, not by promises about ranks.

Home lessons or online: which works better in Durg?

Both can work well; the right one depends on the child and the hour. Lessons at home suit children below about Class 6, anyone easily distracted by a screen, and subjects where you want to see every line of working on paper. Online lessons open up tutors from anywhere in India, which helps with IB, IGCSE, less common ISC electives or advanced problem solving. A few Durg-specific points help decide:

  • Twin cities, one journey. Colonies such as Kadambari Nagar and Borsi are close to Bhilai, so a tutor living just across the boundary can be nearer than one from the far end of Durg.
  • Fewer tutors close by in some colonies. In Baghera and other spots a little apart, a nearby home tutor for one subject and an online tutor for another is a sensible mix.
  • Office hours. Where both parents work, an early-evening visit lets the child finish the day's work before dinner, and a weekend session can cover tests.
  • Heat and heavy rain. Agree at the start that on the worst days the lesson moves to a screen instead of being cancelled.

For online lessons, set up a quiet corner, a steady connection and a notebook kept for that subject alone, with the camera on and a parent nearby in the first few sessions. Many families settle on two or three visits a week plus a short online check before a test, all with one tutor. See online tutors for Durg and our home versus online tutoring comparison.

What do home tutors in Durg charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

We do not set fees. Each tutor decides their own, and you see the fee of every shortlisted tutor before the demo. Comparing the numbers alone tells you little, so put the same questions to each tutor:

  • How long is a lesson, and how many a week do you suggest for this class?
  • Does the fee change for entrance-level work compared with school support?
  • Is the fee the same if lessons move online for part of the year?
  • What happens when either of us has to miss a lesson?

Spend first on the subject that is causing the most worry; one strong tutor there usually does more than the same money spread thin across several subjects. We will not suggest anyone above the budget you share. For a class-by-class view, see the pricing guide, and for local detail, our post on home tuition fees in Durg.

What should you look for in the free demo class?

A profile helps you shortlist, but one hour of real teaching shows you much more. Sit within earshot, or ask your child afterwards, and go through these points:

  • Did the tutor ask about school tests, any coaching class and the rest of the week before starting?
  • Did they spend a few questions finding what your child already knows, rather than opening at page one?
  • Could they say what their hour will add that school or a group class does not?
  • Was your child comfortable with the language, whether Hindi, English or a mix?
  • When asked about this year's board pattern, did they point you to the board's own site?
  • Was your child writing and solving for most of the hour, or mostly listening?
  • Can the tutor honestly keep this time every week from where they live?

The practical side matters as well. Send the colony, lane, house number and a pinned location the evening before, and if the gate is shared, say which door is yours. Keep lessons in a shared room while an adult is at home, and settle any house rules on the first day. Our demo class checklist for parents goes into more detail.

When in the school year should tuition start?

You can begin at any point, but each part of the year asks for something different. Taking the April start of the CBSE session as a rough anchor:

  • April to June. The ideal time to close last year's gaps before new chapters stack up; in the summer heat, keep visits to the cooler hours.
  • The monsoon months. Keep a steady weekly rhythm, with online lessons as the planned back-up on stormy days.
  • The festival season. Expect a few lighter weeks and add hours before and after them.
  • Winter. Finish the syllabus, then move to full papers and pre-boards, taking exam dates only from the board's notices.
  • Exam season and after. Board papers end and the entrance exams follow. In 2026 CGBSE declared its High School and Higher Secondary main results on 29 April, and results of the second main, or avsar, exam on 13 August, so a few focused weeks after the main results can prepare a student for that second attempt.

Chhattisgarh board families should follow the board's own calendar on cgbse.nic.in, which need not match CBSE's. Starting in April gives the most room, but a later start still helps.

How do you get started in Durg?

Three steps. Tell us the class, board and subjects, your colony with a landmark, and the hours left free around school. Look over the two or three tutors we suggest, fees included, and choose one for the free demo. Then decide after that lesson. You can also open your own locality from the list on this page, browse tutor profiles or book a free demo class straight away. If no home tutor lives close enough yet, an online tutor can start without waiting.

For colony-by-colony advice, our Durg home tuition guide walks through all five zones, from Ganjpara and Gaya Nagar to Padmanabhpur and Borsi.

Bhilai, Durg's twin city, has its own page at home tutors in Bhilai, and elsewhere in Chhattisgarh we also cover Raipur; the full list is on our cities page.
