Chhattisgarh Board home tutor in Durg: High School and Higher Secondary, taught from the board's own papers

For many Durg students, the exam that matters most is set by the Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education. Families call it CGBSE or the CG Board; its documents say Chhattisgarh Madhyamik Shiksha Mandal. It sets two public examinations, High School after Class 10 and Higher Secondary after Class 12, and for every subject it publishes a blueprint that fixes how many marks each unit may carry and what kind of questions the paper will hold. A tutor who reads those blueprints can show a family exactly where marks are won and lost. This page takes a few of the 2026-27 blueprints apart, Class 10 Hindi, Class 11 mathematics and three Class 12 papers, explains the subject rules for each stage, and covers how tutors reach Durg's colonies. Every board detail here was read on cgbse.nic.in; check the site again in your child's exam year, since blueprints are revised.

The board, and where Durg sits in it

CGBSE came into being after the state was formed, through a School Education Department notification dated 20 July 2001, and it has run its own examinations since 2002. Its head office is at Pension Bada in Raipur. Four divisional offices share the work across the state, at Bilaspur, Ambikapur in Surguja, Jagdalpur and Rajnandgaon, and Durg district falls under the Rajnandgaon office along with Balod, Bemetara, Kawardha and the other districts of that division.

Beyond the High School and Higher Secondary papers, which it sets for regular, private and, in Class 10, vocational candidates, the board recognises schools and advises the state government on syllabus and textbooks. For a parent, its website is the single place to find blueprints, model papers, results, re-totalling and re-evaluation. The home page itself states that cgbse.nic.in is the board's only official website, so treat any other "board" site with care.

Classes 9 and 10: six papers, each out of 75 plus 25

Under the board's plan for 2026-27, High School students take three languages and three main subjects. Hindi (070) and English (080) are fixed. The third language is Sanskrit (090) or one of a long list: Marathi, Urdu, Punjabi, Sindhi, Bengali, Gujarati, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada or Odia. The main subjects are Mathematics (100), Science (200) and Social Science (300). A student may take a vocational subject in place of one language.

How each High School subject is marked, 2026-27
PartMarksMinimum to pass
Written paper set by the board7525
Practical (science) or project work (other subjects)258
Subject total100Both parts must be cleared separately

That separate pass mark is the line parents most often overlook. A child who writes a strong paper but lets the project record slide can still fall short in the subject.

Reading the Class 10 Hindi blueprint

Hindi is the paper many Durg families assume needs no tuition, and the blueprint shows why that can be a mistake. Of the 75 written marks, the seven textbook units together carry 44, at 5 to 8 marks each, and they mix prose, poetry, medieval verse and a lesson on the folk arts of Chhattisgarh. The other 31 marks sit outside the textbook's lessons:

Class 10 Hindi (070): marks outside the textbook units
SectionMarksWhat a tutor practises
Grammar based on the textbook10Short daily drills, corrected before the next one
Unseen passage and letter writing10Reading for the main idea; formal and informal letter layouts
Essay6A plan before writing; one essay a fortnight, marked
History of Hindi literature5A compact chart of periods and writers from the textbook

Grammar, comprehension, letter and essay together are worth more than any two textbook units, and they reward steady practice rather than cramming. For students who speak Chhattisgarhi or another language at home, written standard Hindi is a skill to be taught, not assumed.

The project record: 25 marks earned through the year

In the languages, mathematics and social science, the 25 internal marks are divided: 20 cover the year's project record together with a set of questions on one chosen project, and the remaining 5 come from an oral viva. The record must describe at least three projects drawn from those suggested in the textbook, and every subject must include one project on the environment. The board asks for each write-up to follow seven parts: the problem chosen, the aim, the materials needed, the method, the reasoning or comparison or analysis, the conclusion, and the difficulties met and how they were solved. Marks go for understanding of the content, independent thinking and logical analysis. Science uses a practical examination instead.

The school awards these marks, and the student must do the work. What a tutor can do is set monthly deadlines for the record, read each write-up against the seven headings, and hold a mock viva or two so your child can describe the method confidently.

Higher Secondary: languages, a faculty and one compulsory extra

From Class 11, a student chooses two of three languages: Hindi (010), English (020) and a third language such as Sanskrit (030). A student on the new vocational course studies one language and one trade in place of the other. Next comes one faculty from six, namely arts, science, commerce, agriculture, fine arts or home science. Everyone also studies environmental studies as an extra compulsory subject, and schools must timetable a period for physical and moral education.

Three faculties that most tuition requests touch
FacultyCoreOptions
ScienceChemistry (202) and Physics (201)Pick Mathematics (204) or Biology (203); whichever is left can be taken as an extra (804 or 803)
CommerceBusiness Studies (302) and Accountancy (301)Pick one: Economics (303), Stenotyping (164), Commercial Mathematics (169), Mathematics (204), Computer Application (151) or Industrial Organisation (332); Commercial Mathematics (869) as an extra
ArtsThree of History (101), Geography (102), Political Science (103), Sociology (104), Psychology (105) and Economics (303)Alternatively, any two of them with one listed option, for example Mathematics (204), Sanskrit (030) or Computer Application (151)

Agriculture, fine arts and home science each have their own three subjects listed in the same plan. Our guide to choosing a board and stream lays out the questions to settle before the faculty form is filled.

Class 11 mathematics: where the 80 marks sit

Class 11 Mathematics (204), 2026-27 blueprint
Unit groupMarks
Sets; relations and functions; trigonometric functions23
Complex numbers and quadratic equations; linear inequalities; permutations and combinations; binomial theorem; sequences and series25
Straight lines; conic sections; introduction to three-dimensional geometry13
Limits and derivatives8
Statistics and probability11
Project (internal)20

The algebra group is the heaviest at 25, and functions with trigonometry follow at 23; together they are well over half the paper. Limits and derivatives carry only 8 marks in Class 11 but are the doorway to Class 12 calculus, so a tutor should not let them be skimmed because the mark is small. Students also preparing for JEE will find the same chapters on that syllabus; see our JEE home tutor in Durg page.

Class 12 English: a paper won in writing and reading

The Class 12 English blueprint gives 80 marks to the written paper and 20 to a project that assesses listening and speaking. Within the 80, literature from the prescribed books, Flamingo and Vistas, carries 30. The other 50 come from reading and writing skills.

Class 12 English (020): sections and marks
SectionItemsMarks
A: readingUnseen passage 10, analytical passage 4, note making 4, summary 321
B: writing and grammarNotice 4, advertisement 4, letter 5, article or report 8, grammar (voice, narration, clauses) 829
C: literatureFlamingo prose 4, poetry 4, textual questions 12; Vistas 1030

The three-hour paper opens with one objective question of ten one-mark parts, then two answers of 2 marks, four of 3, seven of 4, two of 5 and two long answers of 8. The two 8-mark answers alone are worth 16. Formats for notices, advertisements and letters are learnt once and then reused, so they are the quickest marks a tutor can secure. Our English home tutor in Durg page covers the subject more widely.

Class 12 economics and business studies

Both commerce papers are 80 written marks plus a 20-mark project. Economics divides into microeconomics and macroeconomics. On the micro side, consumer behaviour and consumer equilibrium is the largest unit at 14, then market equilibrium at 8, and production and cost and the firm under perfect competition at 7 each. On the macro side, determination of income and employment carries 12, national income accounting 10, and money and banking, the government budget and the open economy 6 each. The economics paper runs for three hours with ten one-mark parts, five answers of 2 marks, four of 3, six of 4 and four of 6.

Business Studies has a management half and a finance and marketing half. Nature and significance of management carries 10, directing 8, organising and staffing 7 each, and principles, planning and controlling 6 each, with the business environment at 5. In the second half, marketing carries 10, consumer protection 8 and business finance 7. A tutor can use these weights to plan the year: diagrams and numerical work in economics need regular practice, while business studies rewards clear, structured answers that use the textbook's terms.

The second main, or avsar, examination

The board's results page lists two sittings for 2026 for both Class 10 and Class 12: the main examination and a second main examination that the board also calls avsar, meaning opportunity, each with its own re-totalling and re-evaluation. Who may sit the second, which subjects can be taken and how the marks are treated are set by the board's own rules, and they are the kind of detail that should be read from the source, not from a summary. Check the notices on cgbse.nic.in before planning. Our advice is simple: treat the main examination as the real one, and if your child does plan to use the second, keep the tutor on for those subjects only.

Hindi, English and the board's documents

The board's website opens in Hindi with an English option, and the blueprints and the teaching plan are Hindi documents, though some English-subject blueprints are printed in English. In Durg, plenty of students study in Hindi medium, others in English medium, and many speak Chhattisgarhi or Hindi at home. Two things follow. The student should practise in the language the paper will be written in, using the board's own terms. And a student switching medium, or preparing for an entrance exam in English, needs both sets of terms for a while. In the demo, find out whether the tutor is at ease switching between the two.

Where Durg's CG Board tutors travel from

Durg's colonies cluster closely, and most tutors come by two-wheeler. A tutor from your own cluster keeps the weekly slot more reliably than one crossing the city.

Which CGBSE divisional office handles Durg district?

Durg district comes under the board's Rajnandgaon divisional office, according to the about page on cgbse.nic.in. The board's head office is at Pension Bada in Raipur, and other divisional offices are at Bilaspur, Ambikapur and Jagdalpur. For results, blueprints and notices, the board says cgbse.nic.in is its only official website.

How is each CGBSE High School subject marked in Classes 9 and 10?

Each High School subject is out of 100 in the board's 2026-27 plan: a 75-mark written paper and 25 marks for practical or project work. The pass marks are 25 in the paper and 8 in the practical or project, cleared separately, so a neglected project record can cost a student who writes well.

Where do the marks go in CGBSE Class 10 Hindi?

In the 2026-27 Class 10 Hindi blueprint, the seven textbook units carry 44 of the 75 written marks, at 5 to 8 each. The rest is textbook grammar 10, unseen passage and letter 10, essay 6 and history of Hindi literature 5. Those skill sections reward steady weekly practice with a tutor.

What must a CGBSE project record contain?

A CGBSE project record must describe at least three projects from the textbook, including one on the environment in every subject. Each write-up covers the problem, aim, materials, method, reasoning or analysis, conclusion and difficulties met. Twenty marks cover the record and a questionnaire on one project, and five come from a viva.

Which subjects can a CGBSE commerce student take in Class 11?

A CGBSE commerce student takes Accountancy and Business Studies, then one of Economics, Stenotyping, Commercial Mathematics, Mathematics, Computer Application or Industrial Organisation. Commercial Mathematics can also be added as an extra subject. Two languages and environmental studies complete the course, as set out in the board's 2026-27 teaching plan.

How is the CGBSE Class 12 English paper divided?

The 2026-27 Class 12 English blueprint gives 80 marks to the written paper and 20 to a listening and speaking project. Reading carries 21 marks, writing and grammar 29, and literature from Flamingo and Vistas 30. The paper includes two long answers of 8 marks each, so planned writing practice matters.

What is the avsar examination on the CGBSE website?

Avsar, meaning opportunity, is the name the board's results page gives to its second main examination, listed for Class 10 and Class 12 beside the main examination. Eligibility and subject rules are set by the board, so read the current notices on cgbse.nic.in and treat the main examination as the real one.

Do CG Board tutors come to Sai Nagar, Sikola Basti and Borsi in Durg?

Yes, tutors from nearby colonies usually cover all three. Write Sai Nagar, Durg in full, use the name shopkeepers know for Sikola Basti with a map pin, and for Borsi give the colony, block and nearest chowk. Tutors from the Bhilai side of the boundary may also reach Borsi.
