Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Senior biology is learnt through names, drawings and sequences. A Class 12 student must label a structure correctly, draw it neatly, explain a process in order and, if medicine is the plan, pull NCERT lines from memory at NEET speed. In Durg the board paper is usually set by the Chhattisgarh board or CBSE, and in 2026-27 both give their five Class 12 units the very same marks, so one plan can serve either. The missing piece in most homes is an adult who hears the student explain a topic, marks the written answer and keeps an eye on the practical file. Tell NXTutors the class, the board, whether medicine is the aim and your colony; two or three biology tutors come back with fees, and you start with a free demo.
| Board or exam | Mark scheme | Habit it rewards |
|---|---|---|
| CGBSE Higher Secondary, Biology (203) | Theory out of 70, practical out of 30; you need 23 and 10 | Full answers using the board's vocabulary, tidy figures, a complete record |
| CBSE Biology (044) | The same 70 and 30 split, in Class 11 and again in Class 12 | NCERT depth and confident answers to case-based questions |
| ISC Biology (863) | In Class 12, 70 for theory, with 15 practical, 10 project and 5 for the file | Exact terms and carefully drawn diagrams |
| NEET (UG), 2026 | 90 of the questions, half the paper, come from botany and zoology | Fast, precise recall; a wrong answer costs a mark |
| IB Diploma; IGCSE | IB at SL or HL; Cambridge 0610 or Edexcel 4BI1 | Data handling, lab skill and, for the IB, an investigation of one's own |
Before Class 11, biology is taught inside science, so younger children belong on our Durg science tutors page.
Higher Secondary papers in the state are set by the Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education from its Raipur head office. Its science stream makes physics and chemistry compulsory and lets the student pick biology or mathematics as the third subject. The one not picked can be added as an extra, which suits a child torn between medicine and engineering, but the load then doubles; decide before tuition hours are booked.
Theory is 70 marks and practical 30, and the board wants at least 23 and 10 respectively. Blueprints are released in Hindi, and Hindi-medium writers should answer with the textbook's own Hindi terms. Our Chhattisgarh board tutors in Durg page explains the board's other subjects.
Compare the 2026-27 CGBSE blueprint with CBSE's unit weights for Class 12 and you find no difference at all. For a tutor that is good news: a single weekly plan fits either board, and siblings on different boards can share a revision calendar.
| Unit | Marks of 70 | Work it needs |
|---|---|---|
| Genetics and evolution | 20 | Monohybrid, dihybrid and pedigree problems solved weekly; this is method, not memory |
| Reproduction | 16 | Flower, gamete and embryo figures redrawn without the book |
| Biotechnology | 12 | Every technique set out as numbered stages, tools named |
| Biology in human welfare | 12 | Brief notes, each point carrying an example |
| Ecology | 10 | Terms, food webs and population curves, revised with care |
Answer style still varies by board, so use each board's model papers. At almost a third of the theory paper, genetics should begin early in the year.
The CBSE Class 11 biology paper is out of 70 too. For 2026-27 it weights Human Physiology at 18; Diversity of Living Organisms and Cell: Structure and Function at 15 each; Plant Physiology at 12; and Structural Organisation at 10. NEET tests the cell and human physiology again, so a summer pass over both before Class 12 is worth it on any board.
Fifty per cent. Under the 2026 bulletin there were 180 multiple-choice questions, all compulsory, for 720 marks: physics and chemistry had 45 each, and botany with zoology had 90. Each correct answer gave +4 and each wrong one −1, which punishes wild guesses. The pattern is confirmed every year on neet.nta.nic.in. For a tutor, NEET biology means close reading of NCERT, its diagrams and tables included, timed question sets, and a mistake log after every mock. See NEET tutors in Durg and our NCERT-first approach to NEET biology.
The class covers the syllabus; the home lesson should check that it stayed. Rotating four jobs over a month keeps the board paper and the entrance test both in view:
Choose days for the home lesson that no class can take over. Whether a family needs a class, a tutor or both is weighed in our NEET preparation article.
A Hindi-medium student heading for an entrance test in English learns each biology term in two languages. A tutor can make this lighter. Pair every new term with a quick sketch and a meaning, given in Hindi if that is quicker. Teach the Greek and Latin pieces that recur, such as the parts meaning cell, blood or leaf, so new words can be guessed. Keep a weekly vocabulary test from a notebook with the term in one column and the student's own explanation beside it. Talk in whichever language works; write in the language of the paper.
Some of it. The practical carries 30 marks on both CGBSE and CBSE, and the Chhattisgarh board's pass mark for it is 10. Slides and dissections belong to the school lab. At the dining table, though, a tutor can read each record entry, show photos of specimens for the student to identify, and ask the purpose of each step in a procedure. Keep the notebook moving a little each month instead of filling it in a panic at the end.
Six colonies below show what makes a first visit smooth. The full list is on our Durg home tuition page.
Directions in Ganjpara run chowk, lane, house; if you live over a shop, name it. Gaya Nagar is a meeting point of colonies between Gaulipara, Ganjpara and Shankar Nagar, so say which side you are on, and hand over the last two test papers before the demo.
Rishabh Nagar's colony edges are close together, so give the block or lane and the colony you are nearest to. Mohan Nagar has its own post office and many colonies around it, so tutors from several nearby areas can usually come; add your floor if you live upstairs.
Malviya Nagar is near the G. E. Road and is spelt Malvia Nagar by the post office, so write your usual spelling. Shankar Nagar students aiming at medicine sometimes keep a home tutor for biology and add an online tutor for physics problems; give the turning and a corner landmark.
For more local colour, read the Shankar Nagar and Baghera zone guide or the city-wide Durg home tuition guide. Diagrams translate well to video, drawn on a tablet or shown to the webcam, so biology works online too; see online tuition in Durg.
If the demo does not convince you, the next shortlisted tutor can give one, and a later switch is also free.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fees, and every fee is visible on the shortlist. Useful questions: how much of each week goes to board writing versus NEET questions, and could one lesson be held online? The Durg home tuition fees guide suggests more.
Write in with the class, the board, whether NEET is in the plan, the chapters causing worry, timings of other classes, the language your child is most at ease in, your colony and your free hours. You receive two or three biology tutors with fees. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how the ID check works). The other sciences have their own Durg pages, physics and chemistry, and the national biology home tutor page goes deeper into IGCSE and IB. Nearby, compare biology tutors in Bhilai, the twin city, or in Raipur.
If you teach biology and live in Durg, families' current requests are on Durg tuition jobs.

Yes, for 2026-27 the CGBSE biology blueprint and the CBSE Class 12 unit marks are identical. Genetics and evolution carry 20, reproduction 16, biotechnology 12, biology in human welfare 12 and ecology 10, out of 70. A Durg tutor can run one weekly plan for students of either board.
A Durg student on the Chhattisgarh board needs 23 of the 70 theory marks and 10 of the 30 practical marks in biology. The two parts are passed separately, so a careful practical record matters as much as theory revision. The board publishes its blueprints in Hindi on cgbse.nic.in.
A Durg CGBSE science student can take biology or maths as the third subject and add the other as an extra subject. This helps a student still choosing between medicine and engineering, but it doubles the workload. Families should decide before booking tuition hours, so the tutor plan fits both subjects.
Biology makes up half of the NEET (UG) paper for every Durg aspirant. In the 2026 bulletin, 90 of the 180 compulsory questions came from botany and zoology, for 720 marks in all, with +4 for a correct answer and −1 for a wrong one. NTA confirms the pattern each year on neet.nta.nic.in, so check it before planning.
Human physiology and the cell are worth revising, because both return in NEET. In CBSE Class 11 for 2026-27, Human Physiology carries 18 of 70 marks, Diversity of Living Organisms and Cell 15 each, Plant Physiology 12 and Structural Organisation 10. A summer pass helps on any board.
A home biology tutor should check that the class teaching has stayed, not repeat the lecture. A monthly rotation works well: the student recites the newest chapter from NCERT, writes two board answers with figures, does a timed set of objective questions, and has the practical record and viva questions checked.
A Hindi-medium student can manage English biology terms with a sketch and a meaning for each new word. A tutor can teach common Greek and Latin roots so new words can be guessed, and keep a weekly test from a two-column notebook. Discussion can be in Hindi, but answers stay in the exam language.
Families should give a clear side, lane and landmark before the first lesson. Gaya Nagar is where several colonies meet, so say which side you are on. In Rishabh Nagar, give the block or lane and the nearest colony. In Mohan Nagar, share the lane and house number, plus your floor if upstairs.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
