Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Most schools in Durg teach the Chhattisgarh board or CBSE course, so a family on CISCE's ICSE or ISC route can feel slightly out of step with the neighbours. The council asks for longer written answers in English in nearly every subject, sets three separate science papers in Class 10, and adds compulsory practicals and project work in the ISC years. Tutors who know that style well may be fewer close to home, which makes choosing carefully, and sometimes mixing home and online lessons, more important. This page explains how the CISCE route is built, where a tutor changes marks, how to keep ISC and entrance preparation in step, and what to test in the free demo. Abhinandan Tiwary contributed the ICSE maths notes, Aaditya Kashyap the science notes and Ajay Vatsyayan the section on ISC maths.
The Chhattisgarh board examines students at two points, the High School examination in Class 10 and the Higher Secondary examination in Class 12, using its own prescribed books and blueprints. CBSE works from NCERT. ICSE is different from both: the council prescribes its own texts, expects answers developed at length in English, and after each exam season publishes an Analysis of Pupil Performance that shows, question by question, where candidates dropped marks. We publish no shares of each board for Durg, because we have no reliable figures. What matters is that a tutor who has spent years on state-board or CBSE papers may mark an ICSE answer too generously. Before the demo, ask the tutor which CISCE classes they have taught and how recently.
| Group | Subjects | External : internal |
|---|---|---|
| Group I, compulsory | English; History, Civics & Geography; and a second language | 80 : 20 |
| Group II, two or three chosen | Options such as Mathematics, Science, Economics, Commercial Studies, Environmental Science, or a modern foreign or classical language | 80 : 20 |
| Group III, one chosen | An applied subject such as Computer Applications, Economic Applications, Commercial Applications, Art or Physical Education | 50 : 50 |
The Group III subject earns half its marks from internal work. Those marks are among the easiest on the whole certificate to secure, and among the easiest to lose by leaving the project to the last term. A tutor who asks about that project at the start of every month protects them.
ICSE Mathematics has one written paper of 80 marks. The other 20 are internal, earned through two or more assignments that are assessed by the school's teacher and also by an external examiner. The course combines commercial arithmetic, including banking and shares, with algebra, geometry, trigonometry and statistics, and examiners reward the working shown at every stage. An answer that jumps straight to a correct number can still lose marks.
Physics, Chemistry and Biology are set as three separate 80-mark papers, each with 20 internal marks for practical work. Strength in one does nothing for the other two. Ask early whether one tutor can teach all three to the council's standard, or whether the weakest paper needs a specialist of its own. The council's specimen papers and its subject-wise Analysis of Pupil Performance are the reference every ICSE tutor should be using.
Chapters learnt in Class 9 come back in the Class 10 papers, so a single sweep of revision near the end does not work. Three habits help. Every few weeks, one session goes back to an older chapter in each paper, so nothing is forgotten. Timed long answers start in Class 9, because writing speed in English grows gradually. And the first session of each month opens with the list of project and assignment deadlines. Within a session, the tutor first corrects what the student attempted at home, then introduces one fresh topic, and finishes with a single answer written under a time limit.
In Class 11 and again in Class 12, ISC Mathematics pairs a theory paper of 80 with a project worth 20. For more on that paper, read the ISC maths tutor page or our guide to ICSE and ISC maths.
An ISC science student who joins a coaching class in Durg or Bhilai is following two chapter orders. Entrance syllabuses lean on NCERT, while ISC moves through its own books in its own sequence, so one topic may turn up in school and in class several months apart. In the first weeks of Class 11, ask the tutor to make a one-page map: every ISC chapter, the NCERT chapter that matches it, and the month each is due in school and in class. The tutor then works both ways, adding NCERT phrasing and short objective drills where ISC is light, and keeping long answers, practical records and projects on track where the class never looks. For the entrance side, see JEE home tutor in Durg and NEET home tutor in Durg.
| Class | What counts | Useful tuition |
|---|---|---|
| 6 to 8 | School tests only | Full sentences, every maths step written, exact science words |
| 9 | The ICSE course that carries into Class 10 | A revision rota from the first term; weekly diagrams and worked answers |
| 10 | Council papers and internal marks | Timed specimen papers checked against the council's analysis |
| 11 | Electives fixed; promotion conditions | A careful choice of subjects and an early start on harder ISC chapters |
| 12 | ISC theory, practicals and projects | Depth in each elective; no missed practical or project date |
The ICSE and ISC board hub describes the council fully. If you are comparing ISC with CBSE or the state board for Class 11, read the CBSE home tutor in Durg page and our board and stream guide.
ISC elective specialists are scarce in most cities, so a common arrangement is a nearby tutor at home for maths and the sciences, with an online teacher for one elective or for English literature. The Kadambari Nagar and Jawahar Nagar and Padmanabhpur and Borsi zone pages and the Durg home tuition guide carry more local advice, and the Bhilai page covers the twin city.
A Durg student finishing ICSE usually weighs three routes. ISC continues the council's way of answering, goes deeper in each elective and adds more practicals and projects. CBSE switches the student to NCERT books and CBSE sample papers, with its own split between theory and practical marks; maths and science knowledge transfers easily, though answers get shorter and follow the textbook more closely. Moving to the Chhattisgarh board's Higher Secondary course means two languages from its list, one faculty from arts, science, commerce, agriculture, fine arts and home science, environmental studies as an additional compulsory subject, and papers built on the board's blueprints; read its documents on cgbse.nic.in and our Chhattisgarh board tutor in Durg page first. Whichever route you pick, use the weeks after Class 10 to read the opening chapters of the new course and look at how its questions are framed. ISC choices lock early in Class 11, so decide before term starts.
Up to Class 10, a tutor sitting beside the student pays off in maths and the three sciences, where examiners judge every line written. A screen is sensible for an ISC elective or for literature when the specialist lives in Bhilai, Raipur or another state, for short checks before exams, and for evenings when crossing the city is slow. For online maths or science, the tutor must watch the working as it is written, through a stylus tablet, a shared board or a phone camera above the notebook. Our online tuition in Durg page explains the set-up.
We suggest two or three matched tutors; you see what each charges before the demo, and a later switch costs nothing. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how we check tutors).

Because CISCE expects longer written answers in English and marks the working at every stage, a tutor used only to state-board or CBSE papers may mark too generously. The council publishes an Analysis of Pupil Performance after each exam season, and a good ICSE tutor uses it with the specimen papers.
ICSE groups Class 10 subjects into three groups under the CISCE regulations. Group I, compulsory, and Group II, where two or three subjects are chosen, are marked 80 external and 20 internal. Group III, one applied subject such as Computer Applications or Art, is marked half external and half internal.
Sometimes, but ask early, because Physics, Chemistry and Biology are three separate 80-mark papers with 20 internal practical marks each. Strength in one paper does not help the other two. If one subject lags, a specialist for that paper alongside a general science tutor is often the better arrangement.
ISC needs English plus three to five electives, at most six subjects, and choices lock after a date in the Class 11 registration year. Promotion to Class 12 needs 35% in four subjects including English and 75% attendance. Physics cannot be taken with Engineering Science, and practicals are compulsory where they exist.
Ask the tutor for a one-page map early in Class 11 pairing each ISC chapter with its NCERT chapter and the month each is due. The tutor then adds NCERT phrasing and objective drills where ISC is light, and keeps practicals and projects on track.
It depends on the stream and how your child writes answers, so compare the courses before deciding. The CGBSE Higher Secondary course means two languages, one faculty, environmental studies as an additional compulsory subject and papers built on the board blueprints. Read cgbse.nic.in and decide before term starts, because ISC choices lock early.
Yes, ICSE tutors living nearby can reach both, though CISCE specialists may be fewer close to home. Write Hari Nagar, Durg in the address, since other cities share the name, and pick one spelling for Padmanabhpur. For an ISC elective, an online specialist alongside a local maths tutor often works well.
Online suits an ISC elective or literature specialist who lives in another city, and short checks before exams. For Classes 6 to 10, maths and the three sciences usually need a tutor at the table. Online maths or science works only if the tutor can see the writing through a camera or tablet.
