Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Durg parents mostly pick between two school routes, the Chhattisgarh board and CBSE, and plenty of homes have one child on each. Paying a CBSE home tutor makes sense when the brief is specific: check that NCERT chapters are really understood, practise the competency-style questions now set in Classes 9 and 10, and keep long written answers in shape in Classes 11 and 12 while entrance preparation eats into the evenings. Below you will find what CBSE expects at each stage, how its papers differ from the state board's, what changed for 2026–27, how senior subjects are marked, and how tutors get to different Durg colonies. Abhinandan Tiwary, who teaches Class 10 CBSE and ICSE maths, wrote the maths notes on this page; Aaditya Kashyap, who teaches science for both boards, wrote the science notes.
Schools in Durg follow either the Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE) or CBSE, and brothers and sisters in one house are sometimes on different boards. We have no reliable figures for how many students sit each, so we publish none. For tuition the useful question is narrower: how do the two Class 10 papers differ? A tutor who knows only one board can mark a child to the wrong standard without anyone noticing.
| Point | CBSE | CGBSE |
|---|---|---|
| Marks in a main subject | 80 in the board paper, 20 internal | 75 in the written paper, 25 for practical or project work |
| Passing | 33% in each subject | 25 in the paper and 8 in the practical or project, each cleared separately |
| Work marked in school | Internal assessment set by the school | A record of at least three projects, a questionnaire on one of them and a viva; every subject includes one environment project |
| Question style | Around half of each paper competency-based | Fixed by the board's blueprint for each subject |
| Books | NCERT | The board's prescribed textbooks |
When a child is switching boards, or the tutor teaches both, ask during the demo how the same chapter would be answered for each. The Chhattisgarh board tutor in Durg page explains the state board's papers.
| Class | Paper set by | Typical trouble spot | Tutor's job |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 to 8 | The school | Fractions, integers, reading a science passage slowly enough | Mending gaps; working shown on paper every time |
| 9 | The school, with an 80-mark annual paper and 20 internal | Algebra and science get harder in the same year | Short chapter tests; advice on whether to take the Advanced paper |
| 10 | CBSE, with 80 plus 20 assessed in school | Case-based items; answers that stop halfway | Current sample papers, marked to the official scheme |
| 11 | The school | Physics, chemistry and maths all jump in level | Strong basics before the board year arrives |
| 12 | CBSE, with practical or internal marks | Revising a full syllabus during entrance season | A single timetable for board and entrance |
A Class 10 student must score 33% in each subject. When a Class 9 child suddenly struggles with algebra, the root is nearly always older: fractions or simple equations that never settled in the middle-school years. Tuition for Classes 6 to 8 should therefore go back and repair before it pushes forward.
In Class 9 every student writes one common 80-mark maths paper and one in science. A student can also opt for an Advanced paper worth 25 marks, in maths, science, both or neither, made up entirely of higher-order questions on additional content. Those marks stay outside the aggregate, but the marksheet mentions a score of 50% or above. Maths will no longer be split into Basic and Standard; the students in Class 10 during 2026–27 are the final batch on that system. Advanced maths suits a child who likes the subject already. It will not rescue weak marks.
Class 10 also has two board sittings now. Everyone takes the first. A student who has passed can take the second to improve up to three subjects from science, mathematics, social science and the languages. Plan as if the first sitting is the only one, and keep the second in reserve.
| Subjects and codes | Written paper | Other marks |
|---|---|---|
| Physics 042, Chemistry 043, Biology 044 | 70 | 30 for practicals |
| Mathematics 041, or Applied Mathematics 241 in its place | 80 | 20 internal |
| Accountancy 055, Business Studies 054 and Economics 030 | 80 | 20 internal |
The Class 12 board paper spans the full year's syllabus, and CBSE has signalled more questions about using ideas in real settings. Each year's design comes out with that year's sample paper, so ask which edition the tutor is using. Our posts on Class 12 physics, organic and inorganic chemistry and calculus and algebra are good places to begin.
About half of each CBSE secondary paper is competency-based. The student meets a short case, a source extract, a table or a familiar situation and must apply an idea to it. Knowing the chapter is not enough when the passage is read in a hurry. A habit that works in science: in every session, take one passage, mark the given facts, say which concept they lead to, and only then answer. In maths the habit is to turn the sentence into an equation first. Use CBSE sample papers and the NCERT exemplar books; ordinary worksheets rarely match the style. A child who thinks in Hindi can reason aloud in Hindi and still write the answer in English.
Because JEE and NEET rest on NCERT content, good CBSE school work feeds straight into both. What usually suffers in Class 12 is the written answer. After months of ticking options, students drop steps, units and labels on diagrams. A tutor working alongside a coaching class should keep a list of chapters that were rushed there, return to them with board-pattern questions, and make sure each session includes one answer written out completely. Practical files and internal tasks also need watching, since a coaching class never asks about them. The entrance side is covered on JEE home tutor in Durg and NEET home tutor in Durg.
For Classes 9 and 10, two moderate sessions in the week tend to work better than a single long one on Sunday. Open with the errors from the most recent school test and go back to how NCERT explains that idea. Move on to one fresh concept, first through the textbook exercise and then through an exemplar or competency item on the same concept. Close with a single full answer that the tutor marks for each step, the units, the diagram and the layout. Once a month, ask for a few lines on chapters finished, marks scored and the errors that repeat.

Timing tips for these colonies are on the zone pages for Shankar Nagar and Baghera, Kadambari Nagar and Jawahar Nagar and Padmanabhpur and Borsi, and our Durg home tuition guide goes through every zone.
Choose a tutor at home for young children, for a child who loses focus on a screen, and for subjects where the working is the answer: maths, physics problems, balancing equations and accountancy formats. Online works for a quick doubt-clearing session on a busy weekday, for a Class 12 subject whose right teacher lives across town, in Bhilai or in Raipur, and for spoken English. Read our online tuition in Durg page and the home tutor or online tutor comparison before deciding.
We send two or three matched tutors, each fee is visible before the demo, the first class costs nothing, and you can change tutor later for free. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how we check tutors).
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. In Durg, a CBSE fee depends mainly on the class, how many subjects are covered, how often the tutor comes and how far they travel. Our pricing guide and the post on home tuition fees in Durg explain more.

CBSE marks a main subject as 80 for the board paper and 20 internal, with 33% needed to pass. CGBSE uses 75 for the written paper and 25 for practical or project work, each passed separately. CBSE also sets about half of each paper as competency questions, so tutors should know which board they are marking for.
Take it only if your child already enjoys maths or science and is scoring comfortably. The optional Advanced paper is worth 25 marks, uses higher-order questions on extra content, and sits outside the aggregate, though a score of 50% or more is noted on the marksheet. It will not repair weak marks.
CBSE now holds two Class 10 board examinations, and the first is compulsory for everyone. A student who passes may sit the second to improve marks in up to three of science, mathematics, social science and the languages. Plan for the first sitting as the real exam and keep the second as a safety net.
Physics, Chemistry and Biology are marked as 70 for theory and 30 for practicals in the 2026-27 curriculum. Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, Accountancy, Business Studies and Economics are 80 theory and 20 internal. The paper covers the full year, so ask the tutor to work from the current sample paper.
A good tutor teaches the reading before the answer. In each session your child takes one case or source passage, marks what is given, names the concept it points to and only then writes. In maths the habit is turning words into an equation first, using CBSE sample papers and NCERT exemplar problems.
Yes, one tutor can teach both boards if they have recent experience of each, so mention both in your request. In Borsi, give the colony, block and nearest chowk. Ask the tutor in the demo how the same chapter would be answered for a CBSE paper and for a CGBSE paper.
Yes, because JEE and NEET build on NCERT, careful CBSE school work supports both. The risk is in writing: after months of objective practice, steps, units and labelled diagrams start to disappear. A tutor should revisit rushed chapters with board-style questions and set one fully written answer every session.
Online suits a short doubt session on a busy weekday, a Class 12 subject whose right teacher lives across Durg, in Bhilai or in Raipur, and spoken English practice. Keep a tutor at home for younger children, for a child who drifts on screens, and for maths and physics working that must be watched.
