Tutoring in Durg: what to know
On NXTutors, Durg is split into five zones for tutors, each named after two of its colonies. Ganjpara and Gaya Nagar groups Ganjpara, Gaya Nagar, Pachri Para, Shitala Nagar and Rishabh Nagar; Civil Lines and Mohan Nagar takes in Malviya Nagar as well, close to Station Road and the G. E. Road; Shankar Nagar and Baghera adds Vijay Nagar and Sai Nagar on the way to Urla; Kadambari Nagar and Jawahar Nagar covers Sikola Basti and Hari Nagar around Katulbod; and Padmanabhpur and Borsi includes Adarsh Nagar. Colonies in each zone sit next to one another, so a tutor living in one can often teach in two or three on the same evening. Families usually guide a visitor by chowk, then lane, then house.
Durg students mostly follow the Chhattisgarh board, Chhattisgarh Madhyamik Shiksha Mandal, or CBSE, and you may also meet families on ICSE, IB or IGCSE, who more often learn online. The state board sets the High School examination at Class 10 and the Higher Secondary examination at Class 12, and it also holds a second main exam, the avsar or opportunity exam, for students who want another attempt. Some children speak Hindi at home and study in English, so say plainly on your profile whether you teach in Hindi, English or both. If you also teach at coaching classes, list only the hours you can genuinely give to one-to-one lessons.
You can teach at students' homes, online or both. Take a request from a parent in Sai Nagar: the shortlist of two or three names is filled first from tutors living in Sai Nagar, next from people who go there already, and after that from its zone, Durg as a whole and online. Parents read your fee ahead of the opening demo, which is free, and moving to another tutor later is free for them as well. Durg sits beside its twin city, Bhilai, and colonies such as Kadambari Nagar and Borsi are close to the boundary, so a tutor on either side may reach them. Keep your list to colonies you can get to on time week after week; anyone further away can learn with you on video.
How you get tuition work on NXTutors
Six steps from applying to your first class. Swipe to see each step.

1
Sign up with a one-time code
Open an account with a one-time code sent to your phone or email. List what you teach, the classes and boards you take, for example CGBSE, CBSE or ICSE, the language you teach in and the Durg colonies within your reach.
-
2
Upload your ID for the ID check
Next, add a government photo ID. This is the ID check every new tutor completes; it settles your identity, and nobody runs a police or background check.
-
3
Your profile carries the Verified badge
Families see your boards, the colonies you cover, say from Ganjpara to Shankar Nagar, your free hours and the fee you set. The Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete.

4
A family nearby sends a request
Say a family in Jawahar Nagar or Hari Nagar asks for a tutor. NXTutors puts forward two or three, looking first at tutors who live in that colony, then at those who already teach there, then at the zone, the rest of Durg and online.

5
Free demo; the family sees your fee first
No booking happens until your fee has been seen. The opening lesson costs the family nothing, takes place in their house with a parent around, and shows you how far the student has got and which evenings are genuinely open.

Teach at home, online or both
After the demo you might visit homes in your chosen colonies, teach learners across Chhattisgarh or the rest of India on video, or do both, such as a Saturday class in Borsi with weekday sessions online.
Boards you can teach in Durg
Most Durg students you teach will be on the Chhattisgarh board, at High School or Higher Secondary level, or on CBSE; a few may follow CISCE's ICSE and ISC, and IB or IGCSE learners usually take lessons over video. Take state-board timetables, results and notices only from cgbse.nic.in. Plan CBSE work from NCERT books and the sample papers on cbseacademic.nic.in, ICSE and ISC from the regulations on cisce.org, and IB or Cambridge lessons from their official subject guides. Put each board you teach on your profile with its classes and your teaching medium.
CGBSE
High School (Class 10); Higher Secondary (Class 12)
The board was constituted by a state notification of July 2001 and has held its own examinations since 2002, with its headquarters at Pension Bada, Raipur. Durg district falls under its Rajnandgaon divisional office. It conducts High School for regular, private and vocational candidates, Higher Secondary for regular and private candidates, and a second main (avsar) exam. Confirm the student's medium and read notices only on cgbse.nic.in.
With a Durg student on CBSE, start from the NCERT chapter the class is on and use the sample papers and marking schemes on cbseacademic.nic.in for practice. At the demo, find out which school tests, projects or coaching hours already fill the week, so your time goes on full written answers and checked practice rather than repeating a lesson the student has already had.
CISCE
ICSE (Class 10); ISC (Class 12)
ICSE at Class 10 and ISC at Class 12 expect long, well-organised written answers over many subjects, and English includes prescribed literature. Build revision from the regulations and specimen papers on cisce.org. If you know these papers, you can teach Durg families at home within your own zone and take ISC students in other cities online.
IB
Diploma Programme (Classes 11–12)
An IB Diploma student in Durg will most likely learn with you online, working from the subject guides published on ibo.org. You can advise on planning and comment on drafts of the Internal Assessment and Extended Essay, but what the student submits must be written by the student. Keep one fixed online slot each week around the school day.
First confirm whether the student sits Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel papers, and the tier. Lessons then centre on past papers, mark schemes and the meaning of command words. Cambridge syllabuses are published on cambridgeinternational.org, and for a learner in Durg an online specialist is usually the practical arrangement.
