Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Middle-school science is where many Durg children first meet three demands at once: a scientific word used exactly, a diagram labelled properly, and a small calculation that ends with a unit. A child who builds those habits between Class 6 and Class 9 meets the Class 10 board far calmer, on the Chhattisgarh board, CBSE or ICSE alike. A tutor helps most by teaching from your child's own book and reading their written answers each week. Tell us the board and your colony, and we suggest two or three science tutors who fit, fees shown before you meet. Your opening lesson is a free demo.
Aaditya Kashyap writes the CBSE and ICSE advice here; the Chhattisgarh board section draws on the board's own published papers. Each year asks something different of a tutor, and gives a parent one thing to check:
| Class | Tutor's focus | Check at home |
|---|---|---|
| 6 and 7 | Each textbook activity retold in one plain sentence with a small labelled sketch | Is the scientific name used, not an everyday word? |
| 8 | Physics, chemistry and biology pulled apart, with first word equations and short numericals | Does every numerical answer carry its unit? |
| 9 | A heavier book in which motion, matter and the cell all arrive together | Is a weak chapter repaired before the next test? |
| 10 | Every chapter pointed at the board paper and its question pattern | Has a full paper been written in exam conditions? |
Before the board year, one tutor for all three branches is usually simpler. See the national science home tutor page for how we match, and the Class 9 science tutor page covers the year many children find the steepest.
The Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE) has its head office in Raipur and conducts the High School examination at the end of Class 10; for Durg district, the Rajnandgaon divisional office handles its work. Science is one of the six subjects every Class 9 and 10 student takes. It carries 100 marks, 75 for theory and 25 for practical work, and the two halves have separate pass marks: 25 for theory, 8 for practical.
Under the 2026-27 blueprint, the 75 written marks are shared by eighteen chapters, none worth less than 3 or more than 5. Light, heredity, life processes, electric current, metals and metallurgy, hydrocarbon derivatives, the periodic classification of elements and the chapter on acids, bases and salts are all on the list. No chapter is big enough to decide the paper alone, and none is small enough to drop, so a sensible tutor keeps an even pace across the whole book instead of lingering on a favourite topic. The board's blueprints are in Hindi, and a Hindi-medium child should practise answers with the textbook's Hindi terms. Our Chhattisgarh board tutors in Durg page covers the board's other subjects.
Science follows the same nineteen-question pattern as the board's maths paper. The opening question bundles fifteen parts of one mark each. Then there are five questions for 2 marks, five for 3, five for 4 and three for 5. Each band wants its own kind of practice:
The board's Parakh page carries model papers, and cgbse.nic.in also has a question bank for Classes 9 to 12. Weekly tests drawn from these beat any guidebook.
The experiments are done at school, and the school awards the marks. A tutor can still stop the practical from becoming the weak link. Each school experiment should reach the notebook the same week: what was tested, a drawing, what was seen and what it showed. A few spoken questions on why each step is done prepare the student for the examiner. The environment project, which the plan expects in every subject, needs an early topic and must be the child's own writing. With a separate pass mark of 8, a forgotten notebook can undo a strong written paper.
On CBSE, 80 marks come from the board paper. The other 20 are the school's, in four equal parts of 5: periodic tests, multiple assessment, a portfolio, and subject enrichment through practical work. Two units, Chemical Substances and World of Living, hold 25 marks each. Effects of Current has 13 and Natural Phenomena 12, while Our Environment brings only 5. By skill, recall with understanding is half the paper, application 30% and analysis or evaluation the last 20%.
The 2026-27 sample paper runs to 39 questions. Twenty earn one mark each, as multiple-choice or assertion–reason items; six earn 2 marks and seven earn 3; three 4-mark items rest on a case or a source; and three long answers earn 5. For this session three areas are assessed in school rather than in the board paper: evolution, how elements are arranged in the periodic table, and the cluster of electromagnetic induction, generators and motors. Class 11 needs all three, so teach them well, but give revision weeks to the board chapters. The fourteen experiments in the curriculum also feed board questions, so the practical file doubles as revision. CBSE further allows eligible students a second, optional attempt in as many as three subjects after the main exam; dates come only from cbse.gov.in. Read more in our Class 10 science notes and board-year plan, on the Class 10 science tutor page, or on CBSE tutors in Durg.
CBSE Class 9 now uses NCERT's newer Exploration textbook in 2026-27, still with 80 written and 20 internal marks. Matter carries 27, life 25, motion with force, work and sound 23, and Earth as a system 5. An older sibling's notes follow the old book, so plan from this year's chapters.
For ICSE Class 10, CISCE does not set one science paper. Physics, Chemistry and Biology are examined separately, and each has internal marks of its own. Each school picks its own books inside the council's syllabus, which means lessons should follow the school's books and the council's specimen papers, not an NCERT scheme. Marks go to precise definitions and numericals worked to the end. Where a Durg school follows CISCE, say so in your first message; if no local tutor has taught the course, an online one can.
Some Durg children change from Hindi-medium to English-medium classes partway through school. The science is familiar but the vocabulary is new, and answers that once came easily can suddenly feel hard. A tutor can explain a term in Hindi first, then help the child write the answer in English, with a notebook of new words read aloud each week. In the demo, ask for one short written answer and watch the tutor correct the language as well as the science.
Science lessons for these classes usually fall between school and dinner, so a tutor living close by is the steadiest choice. Six colonies show what to arrange; all are listed on our Durg page.
Gaya Nagar is where several colonies meet, between Gaulipara, Ganjpara and Shankar Nagar, so tell the tutor which side you live on and name the nearest chowk. Shitala Nagar is also written Shitla Nagar; use the spelling a delivery rider would know, and mention the colour of your gate.
In Pachri Para, homes often have more than one child in school; one tutor can teach two children one after the other when their classes are close. Malviya Nagar sits near the G. E. Road, and its post office spells it Malvia Nagar, so give your spelling with the lane and chowk.
Shankar Nagar links to several colonies, so a tutor living there can often reach the whole zone; give the turning and a corner landmark. In Vijay Nagar, add a shop or corner visible from the road, and say which entrance to use if your building has more than one.
The zone guides for Ganjpara and Gaya Nagar and Shankar Nagar and Baghera add local tips, and the Durg home tuition guide goes zone by zone.
On every board these earn marks for careful children. A tutor should return to them until no reminder is needed:
In the free demo, use the current school chapter and see whether the tutor brings these up unprompted; the demo class checklist has more signs. A poor fit means a second demo with another shortlisted tutor, and switching tutor later is free.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor fixes their own rate. For these classes, ask how a tutor would balance fresh chapters against revision over the year, and whether a weekly lesson could sometimes be on screen. Fees are on the shortlist before any demo; the Durg home tuition fees guide has more questions.
Write to us with your child's class and board, the part of science that costs marks, your colony and a nearby chowk, and which afternoons are open. You get two or three science tutors back, each with a fee, and you pick one for a free demo. When nobody suitable is free at that time, we propose lessons online or partly online. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete (how the ID check works). From Class 11, Durg students can switch to subject tutors for physics, chemistry and biology. Nearby, compare science tutors in Bhilai, the twin city, or science tutors in Raipur.
Science teachers who live in Durg and want pupils close to home can see open requests on the Durg tuition jobs page.

Send NXTutors the class, the board, the branch of science where marks slip, your colony with a chowk and the free afternoons. We reply with two or three science tutors, each with a fee shown, and you pick one for a free demo. If none can come at that hour, we suggest online lessons.
CGBSE Class 10 science has 75 marks for the written paper and 25 for practical work. Each part must be passed on its own, with 25 needed in theory and 8 in the practical. Durg schools come under the board's Rajnandgaon divisional office, and the board's head office is in Raipur.
Skipping is risky, because the 2026-27 CGBSE science blueprint spreads 75 marks over eighteen chapters worth 3 to 5 marks each. No single chapter decides the paper, yet every chapter can appear. A Durg tutor should move through the whole book at an even pace and test each chapter before the next begins.
The CGBSE science paper has nineteen questions, the same plan as maths. Question 1 holds fifteen one-mark parts, then come five questions each at 2, 3 and 4 marks and three at 5. The last eight answers carry 35 marks, so diagrams and balanced equations need regular practice.
A Durg tutor can keep the practical notebook up to date after every school experiment, with what was tested, a drawing, the observation and the result. They can also ask spoken questions on each step and help choose an early topic for the environment project, which the child must write. The practical needs 8 marks to pass.
Chemical Substances and World of Living carry the most, at 25 marks each out of the 80 board marks. Effects of Current has 13, Natural Phenomena 12 and Our Environment 5. The school gives the other 20 marks, split equally across periodic tests, multiple assessment, the portfolio and practical-based subject enrichment.
A tutor can explain each new science term in Hindi first, then help the child write the answer in English. Keeping a notebook of new words that the child reads aloud every week builds the vocabulary steadily. In the demo, ask for one short written answer to see how the tutor corrects language and content.
Families should give the side of the colony, the nearest chowk and a clear landmark. Gaya Nagar is where several colonies meet, so say which side you live on. Shitala Nagar is also spelt Shitla Nagar, so use the familiar spelling. In Vijay Nagar, mention which entrance to use if your building has more than one.
One science tutor is usually enough before Class 11, because the same person can cover physics, chemistry and biology. That tutor can tell whether a wrong electricity answer is a calculation slip or a missing idea. From Class 11, Durg students often move to separate tutors for each science subject.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
