Not sure which tutor fits? Tell us the class, board and your sector: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.
| Classes a week | Classes a month | At ₹800 an hour | At ₹2,500 an hour |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 8 | ₹6,400 a month | ₹20,000 a month |
| 3 | 12 | ₹9,600 a month | ₹30,000 a month |
In a coaching batch, one teacher's hour is shared by many students, so each family pays for a part of it. At home the whole hour is your child's: the pace, the questions and the homework check follow one student, and the tutor's travel to your home is part of the working day. A small group of two or three children from the same society usually costs less per child, with less individual attention.

Guntur grew outward from an old core. Residents still point to Old Guntur and Kothapet, near the main bus station, as the place the city spread from, while the numbered lanes of Brodipet and the lines of Arundelpet form the heart of New Guntur, the part that filled in after independence. Beyond them lie the suburbs of Pattabhipuram, Brindavan Gardens and Chandramouli Nagar, the Lakshmipuram Road colonies, the Palakaluru Road belt around Vidya Nagar, and Nallapadu on the south-west side, one of the villages that joined the city in 2012. For a parent, two things matter more than the map: which tutor can reach your gate every week at the same hour, and what exactly that tutor is meant to fix, whether it is a Class 10 SSC paper, an Intermediate subject or a younger child's reading.
You send one request, and it can be short. Put down your child's class and board, the subject or chapters that are giving trouble, the name of your locality with a lane, line or cross number, the hours that are free once school is over, and whether the tutor should come home, teach on a screen or mix the two. If you have a monthly figure in mind, add it, so nobody outside it is suggested. We send back two or three matched tutors. Each one's fee is shown to you before any meeting, and the first lesson with the tutor you choose is a free demo. In Guntur, four details shape the shortlist more than anything else:
Treat the demo as a working lesson on the chapter your child is doing this week. If the fit is wrong, tell us and the next tutor on the list takes a turn. If things change later in the year, switching tutor is free too.
Suggestions for Guntur are drawn from our pool of tutor profiles, and 20 Guntur localities have a page of their own. Each page lists tutors in the same order: people living in that locality first, then tutors who already travel there, then the rest of the zone, then Guntur as a whole, then online tutors. For home visits we group the city into six zones, starting at the central core and moving outward: Brodipet and Arundelpet, Lakshmipuram and Koritepadu, Brindavan Gardens and Pattabhipuram, Vidya Nagar and Navabharath Nagar, Nallapadu and Syamala Nagar and Kothapet and Old Guntur. We drew these groups to plan tutor travel along the main roads; they are not municipal wards or any official boundary.
Brodipet sits in the middle of New Guntur and is one of the city's main commercial and residential areas; apartment blocks, older family homes and shops share its streets, and people give their address by lane and cross road. Arundelpet, its long-established neighbour, is laid out in numbered lines, and many families live above or behind a row of shops. Nagarampalem has quieter streets of houses and small apartment buildings close to Brodipet, and Chuttugunta is known for its circle and its busy road, with offices nearby.
Guntur Junction is the reference point for the whole zone; its rear entrance, called terminal 2, opens on the Arundelpet side. Because the four localities border one another, one tutor can often take a lesson in Arundelpet and another in Nagarampalem on the same evening. The numbers do most of the work here: send the lane or line, the cross road, the door number and the building name, and say whether the staircase opens on the main road or a side lane. Around Chuttugunta, where many parents keep office hours, early-morning and weekend slots are often the ones that hold.
Lakshmipuram is the third of the areas usually named with Brodipet and Arundelpet as Guntur's main commercial and residential districts, and Lakshmipuram Road, one of the city's arterial roads, runs through it. Apartment buildings stand beside older houses. Koritepadu, also spelt Koretapadu, is mostly independent houses on quiet streets, with a park nearby, and Vinayak Nagar is a small colony of houses tucked between Koritepadu, Maruthi Nagar and Lakshmipuram.
The three are close enough for a tutor living in one to reach the others without a long ride. Many homes here have two school-going children, and booking one tutor for back-to-back sessions is a common arrangement; if you want that, give both classes and boards in the request and agree how the hour is split. Streets in Vinayak Nagar and Koritepadu can look alike, so a cross number, a gate colour and a map pin save the tutor a wrong turn. In a Lakshmipuram flat, send the building name, block, floor and flat number, and tell the watchman a tutor is coming.
Pattabhipuram, Chandramouli Nagar and Brindavan Gardens are named among the suburban areas that formed as New Guntur spread out. Pattabhipuram Road, another arterial road, gives the zone its spine, and residents describe Pattabhipuram as close to the railway station, with flats and houses side by side. Chandramouli Nagar is known to its residents for greenery and wide roads, and Brindavan Gardens has many apartment buildings, with Krishna Nagar and Vidya Nagar as neighbours.
A good share of requests from this side come from homes with a child in Intermediate, where state-board subjects run alongside preparation for JEE Main or NEET (UG). If your child has two tutors, ask them to share one weekly sheet of chapters and test marks so their plans do not pull in different directions. In a flat, the block and floor matter as much as the street, and if the building's entrance faces a side road rather than Pattabhipuram Road, say so. Younger children here are well served too, especially for English reading.
Vidya Nagar, also written Vidyanagar, and Navabharath Nagar, often written Navbharat Nagar, are both listed among Guntur's major areas. Apartment buildings make up much of Vidya Nagar, while Vikas Nagar and Navabharath Nagar mix houses and flats, with SVN Colony and Vijayapuri Colony in between. Gujjanagundla sits near Palakaluru Road, and its bus stop is the landmark most tutors will recognise.
Palakaluru Road, one of the city's arterial roads, is the easiest way to describe this zone to a tutor coming from the centre. Families here quite often switch between the State syllabus and CBSE, and many students move into Intermediate First Year from either board, so a tutor who has handled a change of syllabus is worth asking for. Keep the old and new textbooks handy for the first few lessons so the tutor can see what was skipped. Mention both spellings of Navabharath Nagar in your address, since map apps and people use either.
Nallapadu lies on the south-west of the city on State Highway 2. It joined the Guntur Municipal Corporation in 2012, when ten surrounding villages were merged into the city, so older streets now run beside newer layouts and house plots, and Nallapadu has one of Guntur's three main railway stations. Syamala Nagar, also spelt Shyamala Nagar, is listed among the city's major areas, and AT Agraharam is a residential locality near NGO Colony and APHB Colony, with houses and flats on its streets.
New streets here do not always show up on map apps, which makes clear directions more important than in the centre. In a newer Nallapadu layout, give the layout or venture name, the plot or house number and the road it opens off. In Syamala Nagar and AT Agraharam, say whether the tutor should look for a gate or a building entrance. A tutor who lives inside this zone is usually the easiest to keep on a fixed weekly slot, and it helps to agree early what happens on days of heavy rain, when a short online class can replace the visit.
Old Guntur is, in its residents' words, the part of the city from which the rest gradually spread, and it lies close to the main bus station, with RTC Colony, Balaji Nagar and Lalapet nearby. Kothapet, also written Kotapet or Kothapeta, is a busy older area where family houses and flats above shops sit together, and Sangadigunta is a quieter residential neighbourhood beside Kothapet and Etukuru Road.
The bus station and the minibus station beside it make this side of Guntur a hub for buses, so the roads stay busy through the day and Grand Trunk Road carries steady movement past Old Guntur. Early evening and weekend mornings are usually the easiest times for a tutor to get through. In the narrow lanes, house numbers can be hard to spot, so send a map pin and a shop or junction the tutor can find. Joint families are common in the older lanes; agreeing one contact adult and a quiet room at the start keeps lessons calm.
Most Guntur families follow either the Andhra Pradesh state syllabus or CBSE. The state system is split between two boards: one for Class 10 and one for the two Intermediate years. Before we suggest anyone, we check which of these your child is in, because a tutor at ease with one paper pattern may be new to another.
| Board and stage | What the official site shows | What to ask a tutor |
|---|---|---|
| Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh (BSEAP): SSC, Class 10 | SSC Public Examinations held in March, with OSSC and vocational SSC examinations; Advanced Supplementary Examinations in May for another attempt; model question papers, blueprints and weightage tables for the coming SSC year. | Have you worked through this year's model papers and blueprint with a student, and how do you use the weightage table to plan revision? |
| Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh (BIEAP): Intermediate First and Second Year | A two-year stage after Class 10 with general and vocational courses, Intermediate Public Examinations for both years, and separate Ethics and Human Values and Environmental Education papers. | How will you keep First Year chapters strong while the Second Year syllabus moves ahead? |
| CBSE, Classes 1 to 12 | NCERT textbooks at the centre, with sample papers and marking schemes published on the board's academic site. | How will you practise full written answers against the marking scheme, not just short questions? |
| CISCE and international syllabuses | ICSE and ISC papers, IB or Cambridge courses, for the few families who follow them. | Have you taught this exact paper before, and would lessons be at home or online? |
For the state boards, take patterns, time tables and notices only from bse.ap.gov.in for SSC and bie.ap.gov.in for Intermediate; both change details from year to year. Our pages for AP board tutors in Guntur, CBSE home tutors in Guntur and ICSE home tutors in Guntur go deeper into each. Families on IB or Cambridge courses usually find the right specialist online.
In the early years the job is steady habits: reading aloud without stumbling, multiplication tables known by heart, neat handwriting and homework that is completed each day. Where Telugu is the language at home and lessons at school run in English, a tutor who explains a word in both before moving on helps a child settle. By Classes 6 to 8, fractions, decimals and simple equations deserve extra time, because the Class 9 and 10 syllabus builds straight on them.
For state-board students, Class 10 ends in the SSC Public Examination, and the board's model papers and blueprints show how marks spread across chapters, so a sensible tutor plans the year around them. CBSE students need the same discipline with NCERT and the sample papers. Two of our guides help either way: a Class 10 Maths plan and Class 10 Science notes.
Intermediate First Year is a sharp jump from Class 10, and it feeds straight into Second Year, so a weak start in one subject tends to stay with the student. Choosing a separate tutor for each subject that worries you is often wiser than one tutor for everything. Our Class 12 Physics strategies and calculus and algebra guide are written for CBSE but suit the same topics at this stage.
Maths and the sciences come up most often from Class 8 onward, but tutors on NXTutors cover much more: English, Telugu and Hindi, Social Studies, Computer Science, Accountancy, Economics and Commerce, and for primary children a single tutor can usually take every subject. The core subjects each have a Guntur page: maths, science, physics, chemistry, biology and English.
What marks out a good subject tutor? In Maths, they go back to the first wrong step, even if it sits in last year's chapter, instead of re-solving the whole sum. In Physics, the student describes in plain words what is happening before any formula goes down. In Chemistry, they keep numericals, reactions and memory-heavy facts moving together, so none piles up before the exam; our Organic and Inorganic Chemistry guide shows one way. In Class 10 state-board work, Physical Science and Social Studies often need the most written practice. And in English, a student who is shy to speak gains most from short, regular conversation; our spoken English guide has exercises to use between lessons.
Yes, if the tutor's role is clear. Many Guntur students in Intermediate carry two loads at once: the board syllabus for both years and an entrance test. A personal tutor is most useful when the family hands them one precise job rather than asking them to cover everything. These four are the most common:
Keep to official facts on the tests themselves. The National Testing Agency conducts JEE Main, usually in two sessions early in the year, and candidates who qualify may sit JEE Advanced. NEET (UG), also conducted by NTA, is held once a year, and Biology carries half the marks, which is why careful reading of the NCERT Biology text pays off. Take every date from that year's information bulletin on nta.ac.in. For more, see JEE tutors in Guntur, NEET tutors in Guntur, our topic plans for Maths, Physics and Chemistry, and the NCERT-first approach to NEET Biology.
Neither is better in general; the right answer depends on the child and the time slot. Home visits suit children below about Class 6, students who drift off in front of a screen, and subjects where you want to see every line of working on paper. Online lessons open up tutors from anywhere in India, which helps with IB or Cambridge papers, uncommon electives and advanced problem solving. A few Guntur conditions tilt the choice:
Plenty of families settle on two or three home visits a week with a short online session before a test, all with the same tutor. See online tutors for Guntur and our comparison of home and online tutoring.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
We do not fix fees. Each tutor sets their own, and you see every shortlisted tutor's fee before the demo. Instead of comparing the numbers on their own, put the same questions to each tutor:
Put money first into the subject that is hurting most; one strong tutor there usually does more good than the same amount spread thin across several subjects. We never suggest a tutor above the monthly figure you give us. For a breakdown by class and subject, read the pricing guide, and for a local view, our post on home tuition fees in Guntur.
A profile helps you shortlist, but one real lesson tells you far more. Sit within earshot, or ask your child afterwards, and go through these points:
Set-up matters too. In an apartment building, give the tutor's name to the watchman in advance; for a house, send the lane or cross number, door number, a landmark and a map pin. Keep lessons in a shared room while an adult is at home. Our parents' demo class checklist and guide to choosing a board and stream cover more ground. Tutors who join go through an ID check, and the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete; see how we check tutors for the steps.
Any month works, but each part of the year asks something different of a tutor. The state board calendar and the CBSE session do not run in step, so read your own board's notices; roughly:
Starting early buys the most time, but starting late still helps; the focus simply shifts towards past papers, timing and exam technique. If a Class 10 student needs another attempt, the May supplementary examination is the point to plan for with the tutor.
Three steps. First, tell us the class, board and subjects, your locality with a lane or cross number, and the hours left free after school. Second, look over the two or three tutors we suggest, fees included, and choose one for the free demo. Third, decide after that lesson. You can also open your own locality from the list on this page, browse tutor profiles or book a free demo class straight away. Where no home tutor lives near enough yet, an online tutor can start without waiting.
For more locality-level advice, our Guntur home tuition guide walks through all six zones, from the numbered lanes of Brodipet to the newer layouts of Nallapadu and the older streets of Kothapet.
Elsewhere in Andhra Pradesh, we also cover Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam; the full list is on our cities page.
