A Guntur student aiming at medicine usually carries two loads at once: the Intermediate biology, physics and chemistry papers of the Andhra Pradesh board, or the CBSE equivalents, and NEET (UG), where half the marks are biology and every wrong answer costs. The good news is that the two syllabuses overlap heavily in biology. The risk is that the board's long written answers and the entrance test's quick, exact recall need different practice, and that physics quietly falls behind while biology takes every evening. This page explains how a home tutor in Guntur can keep all of it moving: what the board's Botany and Zoology blueprints weight, how to run a daily biology routine, why physics usually earns the home visit, and what to look for in the demo.
| Point | What the bulletin said |
|---|---|
| Questions | 180 compulsory multiple-choice questions in 180 minutes: 45 physics, 45 chemistry, 90 biology |
| Marks | 720 in all; four for a correct answer, minus one for a wrong one |
| Format | Pen and paper, in a single shift |
| Booklet language | English; Hindi as a bilingual booklet; or English with a regional language, 13 languages in all |
| Age | At least 17 by 31 December of the exam year, with no upper limit |
| Ties | Broken by biology marks, then chemistry, then physics, then the ratio of wrong to right answers |
The 2026 syllabus split biology into ten units, five from the Class 11 course and five from Class 12. Rules are revised from year to year, so read the current bulletin on neet.nta.nic.in before planning. The state's own entrance portal, cets.apsche.ap.gov.in, also lists AP EAPCET with a separate BiPC stream for its admissions; take anything about that test only from the portal itself.
From IPE 2027 the second-year Biology paper is one three-hour sitting of 85 marks in two parts: Botany for 42 and Zoology for 43. Each part has compulsory one-mark and two-mark questions, then a choice of four short answers and one long answer. The blueprints list the marks offered on each chapter, choices included.
| Part | Heavier chapters | Lighter chapters |
|---|---|---|
| Botany (42 to answer) | Molecular basis of inheritance 12; sexual reproduction in flowering plants 11; principles of inheritance and variation 11; biotechnology principles and processes 11 | Microbes in human welfare 7; ecosystem 6 |
| Zoology (43 to answer) | Inheritance and molecular basis together 12; human health and disease 10; human reproduction 9; biotechnology and its applications 9; organisms, populations and biodiversity 9 | Evolution 6; reproductive health 4 |
Two patterns stand out. Genetics appears in both parts, so it carries more board marks than any other theme, and biotechnology does the same. Both are also central to NEET biology, which makes them the first chapters to make secure. The board's instructions add something NEET never asks for: answers of a set length, roughly four lines for two marks, ten for four and twenty for eight, with labelled diagrams where needed. A tutor should practise those lengths deliberately, because a student trained only on multiple-choice questions tends to write either a single line or a page.
Biology rewards little and often far more than long weekend sessions. A routine many families can keep in Guntur:
Our NCERT-first NEET biology plan sets out the textbook side in more detail, and the biology tutors in Guntur page covers school biology from Class 9.
Physics is a quarter of the NEET paper, and for many biology-minded students it is where marks leak. The trouble is rarely a missing formula. It is choosing which idea applies, setting up the problem and keeping units straight under time pressure. Those errors are easiest to catch with a tutor sitting beside the notebook, watching each line. If the budget allows only one home subject, make it physics, and keep biology checks online. The Intermediate board's second-year physics paper is also an 85-mark, three-hour paper, so the written side needs its own practice. See the NEET physics tutor page and our physics home tutors in Guntur.
Chemistry divides naturally. Physical chemistry is numerical and suits the same table-side approach as physics. Organic chemistry is reaction logic: a tutor should make the student explain each step, not memorise a list. Inorganic chemistry is largely careful recall, which works well in short online checks. The second-year Chemistry blueprint gives its biggest board weights to chemical kinetics, coordination compounds and the carbonyl unit, useful for board revision, but the entrance syllabus keeps its own balance, so no chapter should be dropped. The NEET chemistry tutor page and our Guntur chemistry page go further.
Andhra Pradesh's Intermediate board lists its first-year model papers in English-medium and Telugu-medium versions, and many Guntur students think in Telugu while writing in English. For NEET, the 2026 bulletin offered English, a bilingual Hindi booklet, or English paired with one of the listed regional languages. Check the current list for the language you want, decide early, and ask the tutor to use biology and physics terms exactly as they appear in that booklet. A student who switches medium at the start of Intermediate should keep a two-column glossary for the first term.
NEET is a pen-and-paper test, so practice should be too. Phone quizzes build recall but not the habit of reading a printed booklet, marking an answer sheet and managing time across 180 questions. Once a month, sit a full paper at the real length on a printed sheet, then spend the next session with the tutor sorting every lost mark: not known, misread, two options confused, or a guess. Because ties are broken on biology first, a careless biology error costs more than its four marks suggest.
All six zones, and every locality in them, are on the Guntur home tutors page, and the Guntur home tuition guide explains how families in each zone arrange tuition.
Five of the ten NEET biology units come from the Class 11 course. Treat the first year as half of the entrance syllabus, not a warm-up. Start the error notebook and the daily textbook habit in the first month.
Genetics, biotechnology and reproduction carry weight in both papers, so build them early. Set aside fixed weeks for board-length answers and the practical record, and move to full printed papers in the final months.
Start from the last paper: which subject, which chapters, which type of error. Physics is often the subject that needs most rebuilding. Daytime home sessions are possible, and that widens the choice of tutor.

Genetics carries the most, because it appears in both the Botany and Zoology parts of the second-year Biology blueprint for IPE 2027. Molecular basis of inheritance alone offers 12 Botany marks. Biotechnology also appears in both parts, so a Guntur NEET tutor should make genetics and biotechnology secure first.
The board's Zoology instructions suggest about four lines for a two-mark answer, ten for four marks and twenty for eight, with labelled diagrams where needed. A Guntur student trained only on NEET multiple-choice questions should practise these lengths weekly, so board answers are neither a single line nor a full page.
NEET (UG) 2026 had 180 compulsory multiple-choice questions and 720 marks, answered in 180 minutes on pen and paper. Biology made up 90 questions, with 45 each in physics and chemistry. Each correct answer earned four marks and each wrong one cost a mark, so Guntur students should practise careful elimination.
Physics should usually get the home visit because a Guntur NEET student's errors start in choosing the idea and setting up the problem. A tutor beside the notebook catches those steps as they happen. Biology recall checks and inorganic chemistry revision work well online, which keeps the weekly budget in balance.
A Guntur student should check the current NEET bulletin, which lists English, a bilingual Hindi booklet, or English paired with one of the listed regional languages. Confirm whether the language you want is on that list for the coming year, decide early, and ask the tutor to teach the terms used in that booklet.
A Guntur NEET student should sit one full printed paper a month at the real length, then review every lost mark with the tutor. Sort errors into not known, misread, options confused or guessed. Because ties are broken on biology first, careless biology errors deserve the most attention in that review.
For Navabharath Nagar, give both spellings and a point on Palakaluru Road. For AT Agraharam, name the nearest of NGO Colony or APHB Colony. In the narrow lanes of Old Guntur, send a pin location and a shop or junction tutors can spot, since house numbers can be hard to see.
Yes, the state's official entrance portal, cets.apsche.ap.gov.in, lists AP EAPCET with separate admissions for the BiPC stream. It is a different test from the NTA's NEET (UG). Guntur families considering both should read the syllabus, pattern and dates of each only on its own official site.
