AP Board tutors in Guntur: SSC in Class 10, then the two Intermediate years

For a Guntur child on the state syllabus, the school-leaving years are handled by two separate boards. The Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh, working through the Directorate of Government Examinations, sets the Class 10 SSC public examination. The Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh, runs the two Intermediate years, First Year and Second Year, and their public examinations. Each publishes model papers and chapter-wise blueprints online, free, and a tutor who works from those files is working from the board's own plan of the paper. Below is what we found in them in October 2026, how a home tutor should use it, and the questions to put at the demo. Patterns are revised, so recheck the official sites, bse.ap.gov.in for SSC and bie.ap.gov.in for Intermediate, in your child's examination year.

What each board handles

Class 10 families will mostly use the secondary board's site. It posts the SSC public examination notices and hall tickets, and it also conducts the OSSC and vocational SSC examinations. For a student who needs another attempt, it runs the SSC Advanced Supplementary Examinations, held in May in 2026, with school-wise reverification and recounting afterwards. A page on provisions for Children with Special Needs sets out the support available; if your child may qualify, read it well before Class 10, because applications go through the school.

The Intermediate board covers general and vocational courses across First Year and Second Year. Besides the subject papers, its students also sit examinations in Ethics and Human Values and in Environmental Education, so those should not be forgotten in a busy second year. For a vocational student, give us the exact course: each one has its own papers, which a general science tutor may never have seen.

The SSC papers for 2026-27

SSC model papers for the 2026-27 academic year, bse.ap.gov.in
PaperMarks and timeShape
Mathematics100 marks; 3 hours 15 minutes, of which 15 are for readingFour sections, 33 questions. One-mark: 12. Two-mark: 8. Four-mark: 8. Eight-mark: 5, the only section with internal choice
Physical Science (General Science Paper I)50 marks; 2 hours including 15 minutes' reading17 questions. One-mark: 8. Two-mark: 3. Four-mark: 3. Eight-mark: 3, each with a choice
Biological Science (General Science Paper II)50 marks; 2 hours including 15 minutes' reading17 questions. One-mark: 6. Two-mark: 4. Four-mark: 5. Eight-mark: 2, each with a choice
English100 marks; 3 hours 15 minutes37 questions in three sections: reading comprehension, grammar and vocabulary, creative expression
Social Studies100 marks; 3 hours 15 minutes33 questions in four sections; choice only in Section IV

Science is two sittings, not one. A student who is comfortable with chemistry but shaky on biology cannot let one make up for the other, because each half is its own 50-mark paper. In maths, the five eight-mark answers are worth 40 of the 100 marks, so long, fully written solutions need practice from the first term. Our maths and science pages for Guntur go subject by subject.

Inside a science blueprint

The Physical Science blueprint is the most detailed of the SSC files, and it is worth a parent's time. It shows four things a tutor can plan around:

  • Where the marks sit. The three eight-mark questions carry 24 of the 50 marks; the four-mark questions 12, the two-mark ones 6 and the eight one-mark questions 8.
  • How long each part should take. The board estimates 60 minutes for the long answers, 30 for the four-mark ones and 15 each for the short and objective questions, inside two hours that include reading time.
  • Which chapters weigh most. Counting the choices, carbon and its compounds, light, and electricity offer 11 marks each and acids, bases and salts 10; magnetic effects of current offer 8. In all, 78 marks are offered for the 50 a student writes.
  • What kind of thinking is tested. Awareness of content and process carries 60%, sensitivity 20% and creativity 20%, and the board expects 40% of the marks to come from easy questions, 45% from average ones and 15% from difficult ones.

A tutor who uses this sheet will set timed long answers every week, spend more time on the heavier chapters, and include open questions that cannot be answered from a memorised paragraph. Ask to see one example of each kind.

Language papers and the English or Telugu version

On the secondary board's 2027 list, every maths, science and social studies file appears twice, marked EM for English medium and TM for Telugu medium; the language papers listed include Telugu, Hindi, Sanskrit and Odia. The Intermediate board's first-year list is split the same way into E.M. and T.M. A lot of Guntur children talk a chapter through in Telugu at home and then answer in English, and a change of school can mean a change of medium. Tell us the medium of the paper, not just the school's medium. The tutor may explain in either language, yet the written practice must use the paper's own technical terms. The SSC English paper has its own page: English home tutors in Guntur.

The Second Year papers from IPE 2027

Second Year model papers (w.e.f. IPE 2027), Intermediate board
PaperMarks and timeSections
Mathematics100 marks, 3 hoursCompulsory: 12 × 1 mark, 10 × 2 marks. Choice: 7 four-mark answers and 5 eight-mark answers
Physics Paper II85 marks, 3 hoursCompulsory: 9 × 1 mark, 14 × 2 marks. Choice: 8 four-mark answers and 2 eight-mark answers
Chemistry85 marks, 3 hoursLaid out exactly like physics
Biology85 marks, 3 hoursOne paper, two parts: Botany (42) and Zoology (43); each part ends with a choice of four short essays and one long one

Second-year maths is now one 100-mark paper. Older guidebooks built around two separate second-year maths papers will not match its chapter list or its sections, so check the scheme before relying on an older sibling's notes. For subject tutors, see our Guntur physics, chemistry and biology pages.

Choice, and what the chapter weights mean

Every second-year blueprint offers more marks than a student has to answer. Physics and chemistry each offer 109 marks for 85; maths offers 136 for 100. That margin is a safety net, not a licence to skip chapters, because the compulsory one-mark and two-mark questions are spread across nearly every unit.

  • Physics. Fourteen units. Nuclei, ray optics, the dual nature unit, moving charges and the electrostatic potential unit are offered at 10 marks apiece; eight more units sit at 7; electromagnetic waves is offered just 3.
  • Chemistry. Chemical kinetics, coordination compounds and the aldehydes, ketones and carboxylic acids unit offer 15 each.
  • Maths. Integrals offers 23, the only topic with two eight-mark questions; determinants, vector algebra and probability offer 15 each.

Order revision by these weights, but visit every unit. Practical marks are not part of these theory papers; find out from the college how practicals are examined, and keep the record book up to date all year.

Intermediate and the entrance tests

Andhra Pradesh runs its own entrance test beside the national ones. On the state's CETs portal, cets.apsche.ap.gov.in, it appears as AP EAPCET (Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test), with admissions run separately for the MPC and BiPC streams; read its syllabus, pattern and dates there and nowhere else. JEE and NEET (UG) are conducted by the NTA. None of these tests excuses a weak public examination: the board still wants complete written answers, so every week of entrance tuition should include some board writing. See JEE home tutors in Guntur and NEET home tutors in Guntur.

Getting a state-board tutor to your door

Every locality is listed on the Guntur home tutors page, and our Guntur home tuition guide walks through all six zones. Families in other parts of the state can see our Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam pages.

Home, online or a mix?

Up to SSC, sitting beside the student pays: the tutor sees the slip in a ray diagram, a chemical equation or a theorem the moment it happens. Intermediate students have longer college days and entrance work in the evenings, so a week with one lesson at home and one on screen tends to last better, and the online half can go to a Second Year maths or physics specialist who lives anywhere. See online tutors for Guntur and our home or online tutor comparison.

Five checks at a state-board demo

  1. Recent experience. Ask for the exact papers taught lately; Class 10 Biological Science and Second Year chemistry need different skills.
  2. The blueprint. Ask which chapters are heaviest in your child's subject this year; a prepared tutor knows.
  3. Long answers. Ask how eight-mark answers will be practised; the right reply involves writing against the clock.
  4. Medium. Confirm written work will be in the medium, EM or TM, of the paper your child sits.
  5. What about practical records and the extra papers? A second-year tutor should know about the record book and the Ethics and Human Values and Environmental Education examinations.

You will see two or three matched tutors, each with the fee shown up front; the first class costs nothing and so does a later change of tutor. Every tutor who joins goes through an ID check, and the Verified badge appears only after the ID check is complete. For more pointers, see our checklist for a demo class.

Which board conducts the SSC exam and which runs Intermediate in Guntur?

The Board of Secondary Education, Andhra Pradesh, through the Directorate of Government Examinations, conducts the Class 10 SSC public examination. The Board of Intermediate Education, Andhra Pradesh, runs First Year and Second Year and their public examinations. Guntur families should use bse.ap.gov.in and bie.ap.gov.in for current papers.

How is the AP SSC maths paper for 2026-27 structured?

The AP SSC maths model paper for 2026-27 is 100 marks in 3 hours 15 minutes, with 15 minutes for reading. It has 33 questions in four sections, and only Section IV, the five eight-mark questions worth 40 marks, offers internal choice. Guntur students should practise long answers from the first term.

Why does SSC science have two separate papers for Guntur Class 10 students?

SSC science has two papers because the board sets Physical Science and Biological Science as General Science Papers I and II, each worth 50 marks in two hours. A Guntur student cannot balance a weak half with a strong one inside a single paper, so each needs its own practice.

Which Physical Science chapters carry the most marks in the AP SSC blueprint?

Carbon and its compounds, light, and electricity carry the most, 11 marks each including choices, in the 2026-27 Physical Science blueprint. Acids, bases and salts follow at 10, and magnetic effects of current offers 8. A Guntur tutor should give extra time to the heavier chapters without skipping any.

What changed in Second Year Intermediate maths for IPE 2027?

Second Year Intermediate maths for IPE 2027 is a single 100-mark, three-hour paper. Twelve one-mark and ten two-mark questions are compulsory, then comes a choice of 7 four-mark and 5 eight-mark answers. Guntur students using older guidebooks built for two separate papers should check the chapter list against the current blueprint.

Can a Guntur student get a tutor for Telugu-medium SSC or Intermediate papers?

Yes, a Guntur student can ask for a tutor who teaches in the Telugu-medium version, since both boards publish papers in English and Telugu versions. Tell us which version your child writes. Explanations can mix languages, but practice answers should use the terms of the actual paper.

Do Intermediate students in Guntur sit any papers besides their main subjects?

Yes, Intermediate students in Guntur also sit examinations in Ethics and Human Values and in Environmental Education, which the Intermediate board conducts alongside the subject papers. A Second Year tutor should keep those, and the practical record book, on the calendar so they are not squeezed out late.

How do state-board tutors reach Navabharath Nagar, AT Agraharam or Sangadigunta?

For Navabharath Nagar, give a point on Palakaluru Road and both spellings, Navabharath and Navbharat. For AT Agraharam, name the nearer of NGO Colony and APHB Colony. For Sangadigunta, name Etukuru Road and the side of Kothapet you live on. A pin location helps in every Guntur locality.
