What does each exam want from chemistry?

What has CBSE removed or left to the school, and does it still matter for entrance?

For 2026-27, the solid state has left the Class 12 course, and so have the Group 15 to 18 elements of the p-block. A further four topics remain on the syllabus yet are marked inside school and kept off the board paper: surface chemistry, polymers, the isolation of elements, and chemistry in everyday life.

That list is a board list, not an entrance list. NTA publishes separate syllabi, and a chapter CBSE has removed, the later p-block groups among them, can still turn up in NEET or JEE. Revise for the board by the board's list, and open the official entrance syllabus before deciding that any topic is safe to skip.

What should one home session do for each branch of chemistry?

The home session should run a step behind the college or entrance class, consolidating rather than racing ahead. A pattern many families find workable gives each branch its own job:

How much of the CBSE practical can be prepared without a lab?

A good share of it. The 30 marks divide as follows: volumetric analysis 8, salt analysis 8, an experiment linked to the theory syllabus 6, the project 4, and the record with the viva 4. In the titration this session, the student titrates potassium permanganate against either oxalic acid or Mohr's salt, having weighed out and prepared the standard solution without help.

None of that needs glassware to rehearse. At home a tutor can practise the calculation of molarity from the mass weighed, the layout of a burette-reading table, the sequence of salt analysis from the first dry tests to the confirmatory ones, a project small enough to be done honestly, and the viva questions examiners like, for example why a permanganate titration is self-indicating.
