What home tuition costs in Jodhpur

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Example only, not a quote: one subject, one-hour classes, 4 weeks a month. Your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.
Classes a week Classes a month At ₹800 an hour At ₹2,500 an hour
2 8 ₹6,400 a month ₹20,000 a month
3 12 ₹9,600 a month ₹30,000 a month

Why one-to-one home tuition costs more than group coaching

In a coaching batch, one teacher's hour is shared by many students, so each family pays for a part of it. At home the whole hour is your child's: the pace, the questions and the homework check follow one student, and the tutor's travel to your home is part of the working day. A small group of two or three children from the same society usually costs less per child, with less individual attention.

Home tuition in Jodhpur: a parent's guide from Mandore to Jhalamand

Jodhpur grew out from a walled old city with several gates, gathered below Mehrangarh Fort. Around that core the newer city spreads in every direction: Sardarpura, Shastri Nagar and Ratanada fill the middle; Paota and its bus stand open the road north towards Mahamandir and Mandore; the housing board sectors of Chopasni and the colonies of Pal Road run west; and Basni, Kudi Bhagtasni and Jhalamand carry the city south. Since 2021 the development authority has drawn hundreds of villages into the urban area, so the edges keep moving. For a family looking for a tutor, the useful question is simple: who lives near enough, and is free at the hour your child actually has?

How a Jodhpur request turns into a shortlist

Send one request with the details that matter here: your child's class and board, the subject or subjects that are slipping, your colony together with a landmark the tutor can find, the hours left once school is over, and whether you would like lessons at the house, on a screen or a mixture. A rough monthly budget helps too. We come back with two or three matched tutors, you can read each one's fee before anyone visits, and the opening lesson with your chosen tutor costs nothing. In Jodhpur, four things usually shape who belongs on that list:

  • Your direction from the centre. The city is ringed by colonies that face different roads, so a tutor from your own side, north towards Mandore or west along Pal Road, tends to last far longer than someone crossing the middle twice a week.
  • The hour that is really free. Write down the slot your child can keep after school, homework and any classes elsewhere, and tell the tutor at the demo; an hour that keeps moving is the usual reason lessons fade out.
  • Board and language. The Rajasthan board, CBSE, ICSE and ISC, and IB or IGCSE ask for different preparation, and one student reads most comfortably in Hindi while another prefers English.
  • The kind of home. In an independent house the tutor rings the bell; in a sector flat, a newer gated layout or a building above shops, the tutor needs a floor, a number and perhaps a word with the guard.

Use the demo as a normal lesson on the chapter your child is on this week. If it does not click, another tutor from the list can be arranged, and switching tutor later on is free as well.

Jodhpur in four zones

The Jodhpur suggestions draw on 1 tutor profile, and 18 Jodhpur localities are listed separately. On any locality page the order runs from people living right there, to the wider zone, to the rest of Jodhpur, and finally to teachers working online. For planning visits we split the city four ways: Central Jodhpur, from Sardarpura to Ratanada; North Jodhpur, from Paota out to Mandore; West Jodhpur, from Chopasni Housing Board along Pal Road; and South Jodhpur, from Bhagat Ki Kothi and Basni to Jhalamand. These are working groups of our own, not the wards of the two municipal corporations, Jodhpur North and Jodhpur South, that now run the city.

Central Jodhpur (Sardarpura–Ratanada): markets, circles and older colonies

Sardarpura is one of the city's established central localities, where homes sit next to a well-known shopping market and autos and cabs are never far away. Shastri Nagar shares its pin code and is more purely residential, with apartments common alongside the houses of older colonies. Ratanada takes its name from the Ratanada Palace and is valued mainly for where it sits, with the airport, the main railway station and the central bus stand all within easy reach. Residency Road is named after the road that runs through it, and its homes share the frontage with offices and shops, which makes it a mixed area linking the Sardarpura side to the north.

Jodhpur Junction, in the Jodhpur division of North Western Railway, is the reference point for the whole zone; its first train ran to Luni in 1885, and today it serves the Jaisalmer, Luni and Bathinda directions. Umaid Bhawan Palace on Chittar hill is another landmark everyone knows. Because the zone is in the middle, a family here can draw on tutors from almost any side of the city. The catch is the evening: market streets and the main circles fill up after work, so fix a slot just after school or on weekend mornings.

North Jodhpur (Paota–Mandore): the bus stand and the road to Mandore

Paota is a busy locality holding Paota Bus Stand, the city's main stand for government and private buses, so homes here sit beside shops and transport services. Mahamandir is residential, with a station of the same name on the Jodhpur–Jaisalmer line and a mix of flats, houses and plots. Mandore lies to the north of the city along the Jodhpur–Bikaner road; its old gardens make a handy landmark, Mandor station is on the same line, and independent houses and plots are the usual homes. Vidhya Nagar has a wide spread of homes, from plots and builder floors to flats, and Banar Road is named after the road heading out towards Banar, lined with newer buildings of one to three bedrooms.

This is the zone where a tutor has the most ways in. City buses meet at Paota, local trains stop at Mahamandir and Mandor, and Banar has a small single-platform station of its own. Most tutors still ride a two-wheeler or take an auto. Roads around the bus stand stay busy for much of the day, so give a landmark that keeps the tutor off the most crowded stretch. In Mandore and the plotted colonies, a shared map pin saves the first visit.

West Jodhpur (Chopasni–Pal Road): housing board sectors and the Pal Road belt

Chopasni Housing Board is a housing board colony organised by sector, with flats and houses on plots, and new homes continue to go up around it. Shyam Nagar shares the same pin code and sits between the central city and the Pal Road colonies, with independent houses and flats side by side. Pal Road is a residential belt along the road from the city towards Pal, where apartment buildings stand next to older colony houses, and Pal Link Road is a growing locality of flats, houses, plots and villas, with several newer layouts behind gates.

Kaylana Lake, west of the city, is the landmark most families out here will recognise. On this side tutors arrive on a two-wheeler or in an auto, and Pal Road itself is the main route in and out. The sector numbers in Chopasni make directions easy; in the newer colonies along the link road, a pin or a well-known junction does the same job. Let the guard desk know a tutor's name and timing before the first class, and keep clear of the evening run back towards the centre.

South Jodhpur (Basni–Kudi Bhagtasni): railway stations and planned sectors

Bhagat Ki Kothi sits close to the centre and gives its name to a station on the Jodhpur–Luni section, near Jodhpur Junction; railway land lies alongside the homes, so the area reads as mixed. Basni spreads across a wide area of family housing, with Basni station on the Marwar Junction–Munabao line. Kudi Bhagtasni Housing Board is a large planned scheme laid out in numbered sectors of flats and houses. Krishna Nagar is mostly individual plots with houses built on them, and Jhalamand is a growing area of plots and apartment buildings, with Jhalamand Circle as its most familiar junction.

National Highway 62 runs through this side of Jodhpur towards Pali, and the stations at Bhagat Ki Kothi and Basni give tutors a rail option. Kudi Bhagtasni's sector and block numbers make a first visit simple; in Basni, say which part you are in, since the colonies cover a lot of ground. In Jhalamand's newer buildings, tell the gate the tutor is coming. Roads towards the centre are heaviest at the start and end of the working day, so an after-school or weekend slot is easiest here.

The four zones side by side

Central Jodhpur

Houses in older colonies, apartments in Shastri Nagar, flats above shops near the markets. Widest choice of tutors; plan around evening market traffic and the busy circles.

North Jodhpur

Paota Bus Stand, local stations at Mahamandir and Mandor, houses and plots towards Mandore. Send a landmark that avoids the bus stand stretch.

West Jodhpur

Housing board sectors, apartment buildings on Pal Road and gated layouts on the link road. Road travel only; share sector, tower or plot numbers in advance.

South Jodhpur

Planned sectors at Kudi Bhagtasni, plotted houses in Krishna Nagar, stations at Basni and Bhagat Ki Kothi. Name your part of Basni and use Jhalamand Circle as a landmark.

RBSE, CBSE, ICSE or IB: matching the board

Four syllabus families are taught across Jodhpur: the Rajasthan state board, CBSE, the CISCE pair of ICSE and ISC, and, for a smaller group, the IB and Cambridge programmes. Strength with one rarely transfers cleanly to the next, which is why board and class are always read together when we shortlist.

Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan (RBSE)

The state board was set up in 1957 and has worked from Ajmer since 1961. It conducts the Secondary (Class 10) examination and the Senior Secondary (Class 12) examination in Arts, Science and Commerce, and also the Praveshika and Varishtha Upadhyay examinations for Sanskrit education. An RBSE tutor should teach from the board's prescribed books, practise on its papers and move into Hindi whenever the student needs it. Patterns, dates and notices come only from rajeduboard.rajasthan.gov.in.

CBSE

Every CBSE paper rests on the NCERT books, and more questions now ask a student to use an idea in an unfamiliar setting. That suits a teenager with an entrance exam in view. The usual weak spot is written presentation: complete, stepwise board answers need regular practice after months of objective questions.

ICSE and ISC

The CISCE exams, ICSE for Class 10 and ISC for Class 12, mean lengthy written papers, wide syllabuses and set English literature texts. Covering everything with time to revise is the real task, so a tutor should map the year chapter by chapter and keep projects and practical work on schedule.

IB and IGCSE

Students on an IB or IGCSE track in Jodhpur, frequently in families that relocated, tend to find the right specialist on a screen. The IB grade counts coursework, and a tutor can comment on a draft IA or EE while every word remains the student's own; for IGCSE, timed past papers marked the way Cambridge marks them are the core habit.

What the tutor should be doing at each stage

  • Classes 1 to 8. Confident reading, accurate arithmetic and notebooks that are finished. A child who uses Rajasthani or Hindi at home but learns in English often gains more from a short read-aloud each session than from one more worksheet. Entrance foundation courses can wait until Class 8 maths is properly secure.
  • Classes 9 and 10. School Maths and Science step up sharply in Class 9, so the tutor's first job is to keep the syllabus moving and leave Class 10 for revision rather than rescue. Two of our posts, a plan for Class 10 Maths and notes for Class 10 Science, are organised chapter by chapter on NCERT.
  • Senior school. The move into Class 11 is the biggest jump of all, and gaps left there return in the board year. One specialist for each hard subject is the safer plan than one person for everything. For the senior year, read our posts on Class 12 Physics and Class 12 calculus and algebra.

Subjects and Jodhpur subject pages

Science and maths, meaning Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, lead most Jodhpur requests from Class 9. Beyond those, tutors here can be found for languages such as English, Hindi and Sanskrit, for Social Science and Computer Science, and for the commerce trio of Accountancy, Economics and Business Studies; for younger children, one tutor often covers every subject. Separate Jodhpur pages exist for maths, science, physics, chemistry, biology and English home tutors, and board pages for CBSE, ICSE and the Rajasthan board.

Some habits hold for every subject. In Maths, go back to the first point where understanding broke, even if that is a chapter from two years ago. In Physics, a student should be able to say why a result holds before using the formula. Chemistry asks for three skills at once: calculation in Physical, reaction patterns in Organic and careful recall in Inorganic, and our senior Chemistry post walks through the second and third. When a student moves from Hindi-medium study to English textbooks, the tutor can pair every technical term with its Hindi meaning for a few weeks, then slowly drop the Hindi; for speaking practice, try our guide to spoken English.

JEE and NEET support at home in Jodhpur

For an entrance aspirant, a home tutor usually works next to a coaching course or a self-study plan rather than in place of it. Keeping a teenager at home through Classes 11 and 12 works well when the tutor has a clear brief:

  1. A weekly doubt session. Go through the latest problem sheets and test, and settle each question left half-done before the next topic starts.
  2. One revision plan. The Class 12 NCERT books feed the board exam and the entrance papers alike, so a single timetable can cover both.
  3. Hours where marks are lost. Put the extra time into whichever subject drags the score down most, rather than sharing it evenly.
  4. A fixed weekly slot. Dawn, late evening or a Sunday block; settle it at the start and protect it.

JEE Main is run by NTA in two sessions during the first half of the year, and those who clear it become eligible to attempt JEE Advanced. NEET UG comes round once a year, and because Biology carries half of its marks, NCERT Biology deserves reading line by line. Use only the current official bulletin for dates. See our Jodhpur pages for JEE and NEET home tutors. Useful reading to pass on to a tutor: chapter plans in Maths, Physics and Chemistry for JEE, and NEET Biology built on NCERT. If you are weighing a batch against one-to-one help, our JEE coaching versus home tutor piece sets out the logic; it was written about Gurugram, yet it holds in Jodhpur.

Home visits or online lessons in Jodhpur?

Lessons in person work well for small children, for anyone whose attention slips in front of a laptop, and for numerical subjects where the written steps matter. Screen lessons let you reach a specialist in another state, useful for IB, IGCSE, ISC options and advanced entrance material, and an online tutor for Jodhpur students needs no travel at all. Local conditions shape the choice too:

  • Roads first. Jodhpur has no metro, so most tutors ride a two-wheeler or take an auto, and the tutor's own colony matters more than anything on the profile.
  • Buses at Paota. City and long-distance buses meet at Paota Bus Stand, which helps tutors coming into the north and centre.
  • Local stations. Mahamandir, Mandor, Bhagat Ki Kothi and Basni stations, besides Jodhpur Junction, give some tutors a rail route to the north and south.
  • Hot afternoons. On the hottest days of summer, a morning or evening lesson, or an online class agreed in advance, keeps the week on track.

A common pattern is a couple of visits each week plus a brief online session the night before a test, with one tutor doing both. For a fuller weighing-up, read home tutor versus online tutor.

Jodhpur home tutor fees

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee. When two Jodhpur quotes look different, ask what sits behind them:

  • Which class is it for? A primary lesson and a Class 12 lesson are rarely priced the same.
  • School help or entrance work? Entrance-level problem solving asks more of the tutor than homework support in the same subject.
  • How far is the ride? A tutor coming from Mandore to Jhalamand may build the journey into the fee; one from your own zone usually does not.
  • How long and how often? Two longer lessons a week can achieve more than four short, rushed ones.

Spend where the difficulty is: one capable tutor for the weakest subject usually does more than cheaper help spread across four. Every shortlisted fee is shown to you before the demo is booked. For more on how fees vary by class and subject, open the pricing guide, and for the local picture read our post on home tuition fees in Jodhpur.

Judging a tutor at the free demo

The profile explains why a tutor was suggested; the demo shows whether to keep them. Tutors who join go through an ID check, but teaching quality only shows in the lesson itself. Look for these signs:

  1. Questions before teaching. The tutor asked about the school timetable, upcoming tests and other classes before deciding what to cover.
  2. A short check of level. A few quick questions found where your child stands, instead of a lecture from page one.
  3. A language that lands. Your child followed comfortably, whether the lesson ran in Hindi, English or both.
  4. Board knowledge. The tutor could describe your board's paper for this year and said plainly what they would look up.
  5. The student working. Your child did most of the solving during the hour, with the tutor guiding.
  6. A slot they can keep. The tutor can reach your home at that time every week from where they live.

Before the demo, give the guard the tutor's name if you live in a sector block or a gated layout, or send the lane, a landmark and a map pin for a house. Hold lessons in a shared room with an adult at home. Our demo class checklist for parents and our guide to choosing a board and stream go further.

Planning tuition across the Jodhpur school year

CBSE's session opens in April, while RBSE schools follow the Rajasthan calendar, so check your own school's dates. In rough terms, an exam year in Jodhpur moves through these stages:

  • April to June. New books and the long summer break, a good window to repair last year's weak chapters. Afternoons are very hot, so keep lessons to the morning or evening.
  • July to September. The steady teaching months. Hold a weekly rhythm and agree an online fallback for any day when travel is hard.
  • October and November. The autumn festival holidays break the routine; plan lighter weeks and add hours on either side.
  • December to February. Finish the syllabus, sit full papers and pre-boards, and look for exam notices on rajeduboard.rajasthan.gov.in or your own board's site.
  • March to May. Board papers end, and the second JEE Main session, JEE Advanced and NEET UG follow.

Confirm each date from an official notice. An April start gives a full cycle of teaching and revision; a start in the autumn still pays off, with more of the time spent on timed papers.
