Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Many parents begin by looking for a home tutor, and for many children that is the right call. But the question that matters more is who teaches, and sometimes the right teacher for a particular subject, board or exam does not live within easy reach of your colony. Live one-to-one online lessons remove that limit. This page is a practical guide for Jodhpur parents: when online tuition is the better choice, when it is not, how it looks in different parts of the city, how to set it up through NXTutors, what your child needs at the desk, and how to judge whether it is working.
Online is not automatically better. Choose a home tutor when the child is young, in the primary years especially, and needs an adult beside them to stay on task; when handwriting, neat working or diagrams are the problem and the tutor must watch the pen; when a student switches off easily on screens or the home has no quiet corner with a steady connection; or when the family simply prefers a teacher in the room. Many families settle on a mix rather than one or the other, which is covered further down. Our Jodhpur home tutors page is the place to start for home visits.
Whether online makes sense often depends on where you live and who teaches nearby. Notes for the west and south sides of the city:
| Colony | What shapes the choice |
|---|---|
| Pal Link Road | Newer colonies and gated layouts can be hard to find, and the link road is busier at school and office hours. Online works well for evening slots; home visits suit weekends. |
| Chopasni Housing Board | The sector layout makes home visits easy for tutors from nearby sectors and Shastri Nagar. Online is mainly for specialist subjects. |
| Shyam Nagar | Placed between the centre and Pal Road, so home tutors can come from either side; online fills gaps in rare subjects. |
| Jhalamand | A growing area on the southern side whose roads into the city get busy at peak times; online helps when the right specialist lives in the centre or north. |
| Basni | A wide area where two addresses can be far apart, so a tutor "in Basni" may not be close. Online is a sensible fallback. |
| Kudi Bhagtasni Housing Board | Numbered sectors make visits straightforward from Basni, Krishna Nagar or Jhalamand; online adds a specialist for senior board subjects. |
The zone pages for West Jodhpur and South Jodhpur, and our Jodhpur home tuition guide, describe each part of the city.

| Stage | Online fit | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Primary (Classes 1–5) | Limited | Short sessions only, with a parent nearby; home visits usually work better |
| Middle school (Classes 6–8) | Fair | Works for confident readers; keep sessions structured and short |
| Classes 9–10 | Good | Ideal for revision and doubts; written answers should still be checked on paper |
| Classes 11–12 and entrance | Very good | The widest choice of specialists, and the easiest fit around a full timetable |
These are tendencies, not rules. A focused Class 6 student may thrive online, while a Class 11 student who struggles to concentrate may need a tutor in the room for a term before moving to a screen. Watch your own child in the demo and decide from that.

Give it a month, then check four things. Is your child doing the talking for a fair share of each session, rather than watching the tutor solve? Is written work being marked, with corrections your child can explain? Are school test marks in the subject steady or rising? And does your child turn up to the session without being chased? If two or more of these are missing, raise it with the tutor first; if nothing changes, ask us for another match. The online versus offline tutoring post goes deeper into the trade-offs.
Our demo class checklist lists more questions.
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| The connection drops in the evening | Keep a phone hotspot ready, or move the slot earlier |
| Your child drifts to other tabs | Laptop facing the room, other tabs closed, a parent within earshot |
| Working cannot be seen clearly | A second device as a document camera, or a photo of each page |
| Homework goes unchecked | Agree that the first part of each session reviews it |
A common arrangement is a hybrid: one or two home visits a week for the main teaching, and a short online session for doubts or a test review. The same tutor does both, so nothing is lost between them. It also gives an easy fallback for the hottest weeks of summer or any day when travel is hard: the visit simply turns into an online session. Agree on this at the start, along with how the fee applies to each format. Our home tutor or online tutor comparison sets out the choice in full.

Tutors set their own fees for online and home lessons, and you see each fee before the demo. The pricing guide and our post on home tuition fees in Jodhpur explain what affects the figure.

When the right specialist does not live within easy reach of your colony, when the subject or board is rare locally, when hot summer afternoons make travel hard, or when only a short late slot is free. Short, frequent sessions such as recall checks and doubt-clearing also suit online better than a visit.
Usually only in a limited way. Primary-age children tend to need an adult beside them and a tutor who can watch their writing, so home visits generally work better. Short, structured online sessions with a parent nearby can help for reading practice or a single topic. From Class 9 upwards, online suits most students well.
Choose Online or Either in the search on our home page, or open the online tutor listings and narrow by subject, board and class. You can also send a request with the class, board, subject, medium and times. We send two or three matched tutors, and each fee is shown before the free demo.
Yes, with one habit: written practice on paper. RBSE exams are written papers, so the student should write answers by hand and share a photo for the tutor to mark. Mention whether your child studies in Hindi or English medium so the tutor uses the right textbook terms.
Often, yes. A common pattern is one or two home visits a week plus a short online session for doubts or test reviews. The same tutor handles both, and visits can turn into online lessons on the hottest days. Agree the arrangement, and how fees apply to each format, before you start.
The tutor and your family agree on the tool. A laptop or tablet with a camera and microphone, a steady connection and a quiet desk are what matter most. Share meeting links through a parent's account, and keep younger children's sessions in a shared space of the home.
