Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Senior biology looks like the friendliest science until the marks come back. The board paper expects full answers with neat, labelled diagrams; NEET gives biology half its questions and takes a mark away for every wrong guess; and on the Rajasthan board the practical has to be passed in its own right. Add the switch from Hindi to English technical terms that many Jodhpur students make, and a child can know a chapter well yet still lose marks. Tell NXTutors the board, the class, whether NEET is on the horizon, and your locality. We send two or three biology tutors who fit, with fees on the shortlist, and the first class with your chosen tutor is a free demo.
| Board or exam | How biology is assessed | Tutor's main focus |
|---|---|---|
| Rajasthan board Class 12 | Theory 70 (56 written, 14 sessional) and practical 30, each to be passed | NCERT-based written answers and a complete practical record |
| CBSE (044) | Theory 70 and practical 30 in each of Classes 11 and 12 | NCERT depth, case-based questions, the record |
| ISC | Class 12 theory worth 70; practical 15, project 10, practical file 5 | Precise vocabulary and fully labelled figures |
| NEET (UG), conducted by NTA | Biology supplies half the questions | Speed with accuracy; knowing when to leave a question blank |
| IB; IGCSE | Biology SL or HL; Cambridge 0610 or Edexcel 4BI1 | Data questions, practical skills, the IB investigation |
Up to Class 10, biology is taught as part of science, so for those years the science home tutor in Jodhpur page is the place to start.
On the Rajasthan board, physics and chemistry are compulsory in the Senior Secondary science faculty, and biology is one of the subjects a student can add to them, usually by those aiming at medicine or the life sciences. The board's 2026-27 syllabus prescribes NCERT biology books and sets 70 theory marks, of which 56 come from the written paper and 14 are sessional, plus a 30-mark practical. Theory and practical have to be passed separately.
For a tutor, that means two things. First, the written answers should follow NCERT closely, which also suits a student preparing for NEET. Second, the practical record and spotting practice cannot wait until the last month. The board's site, rajeduboard.rajasthan.gov.in, carries the syllabus, model questions and old papers, and its syllabus applies where a printed book differs. The board publishes in Hindi and English, so ask for a tutor who can explain in your child's medium. See our Rajasthan board tutor in Jodhpur page for the wider board picture.
Each year's CBSE theory paper is out of 70, and the 2026-27 unit weights make a ready timetable:
Genetics is the one unit to practise as problems, with a few crosses worked every week once it begins rather than saved for the end. Two Class 11 units, Human Physiology and Cell, come back in the board-year revision and again in NEET; revisiting them briefly in the last weeks of Class 11 pays off twice. Biotechnology and Human Welfare reward precise definitions and named examples; Ecology rewards careful reading of data questions.
Thirty of every hundred marks in board biology sit outside the theory paper on CBSE and the Rajasthan board, and on the Rajasthan board a weak practical cannot be rescued by a strong theory score. The specimens and slides stay in the school lab, but much of the preparation can happen at home: keeping each experiment's aim, diagram and result up to date in the record, practising spotting from labelled photographs and the NCERT figures, and rehearsing the viva with plain questions such as why a stain is used or what a control shows. A tutor who checks the record once a fortnight saves a rushed final month.
No other school science introduces as many new words as biology, and a student who has changed medium has to learn each one in a second language as well. A tutor who handles this well tends to follow a steady pattern:
Under the NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin, all 180 multiple-choice questions were compulsory and the paper was out of 720. Physics and chemistry had 45 questions apiece; biology, divided into botany and zoology, had 90. Correct answers scored +4, incorrect ones −1, and when two candidates tied, the biology score was the first thing compared. NTA confirms the pattern every year, and the syllabus is notified by the National Medical Commission; the 2027 bulletin is awaited on neet.nta.nic.in. In tuition terms, that means knowing the NCERT text closely, figures and tables included, answering objective sets against the clock, and keeping a written list of every mistake made in a mock test. See the NEET home tutor page, the NCERT-first NEET biology guide and our comparison of coaching, a home tutor or both for NEET.
Every school runs to its own calendar, so read this as an outline, not a timetable. It is meant for a student sitting the board exam and NEET in the same year.
| Phase | For the board | For NEET |
|---|---|---|
| Opening months | Reproduction and Genetics with a written answer every week | Objective sets as each chapter closes |
| Mid-session | Human Welfare, Biotechnology and Ecology; record kept current | Class 11 Physiology and Cell revisited in short cycles |
| Pre-board stretch | Full papers under time, marked against the scheme | A full mock every fortnight, with an error log |
| After the board exam | Nothing further | Every Class 11 and 12 chapter revised from NCERT, mocks weekly |
A Rajasthan board or ISC student follows the same shape with that board's own papers in place of CBSE ones. On the Rajasthan board, remember that 14 of the 70 theory marks are sessional and awarded through the school year, so the school's own tests deserve the same care as mocks; a tutor who reviews each returned test paper with your child keeps those marks from slipping quietly.
Tutors mostly travel by two-wheeler or auto, with city buses meeting at Paota and local trains stopping at Mahamandir and Mandor. The Jodhpur home tuition page lists every locality.
| Locality | Arrival | Family's part |
|---|---|---|
| Ratanada | From several directions, being central | Say whether it is a house or a flat, and where to park |
| Shastri Nagar | By two-wheeler or auto from Sardarpura, Ratanada or Chopasni Housing Board | Tell the guard desk; avoid school-day evenings near the circle |
| Paota | By two-wheeler, auto or city bus to the main stand | A side-lane landmark away from the stand |
| Mahamandir | Mostly by road from Paota or Ratanada; there is a station on the Jodhpur–Jaisalmer line | The station or a junction as the first landmark |
| Mandore | Along the road from the city; Mandor station is on the same line | A map pin for newer plotted colonies |
| Vidhya Nagar | By two-wheeler or auto from Paota, Mahamandir or Mandore | The plot number given to the guard in a gated layout |
The North Jodhpur zone page has more local tips. For ISC, IB or NEET, the right specialist may live across the city, and one home session plus one online session a week is a common answer; diagrams work on a tablet or held up to a camera.
Not the right fit? Another tutor from your shortlist can take a demo, and switching later carries no charge. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID, as explained on how we check tutors.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Class 11–12 and NEET biology usually fall in the higher part of that range. Each tutor fixes their own fee, and you see it before the demo; the Jodhpur home tuition fees guide lists sensible questions to ask.
Give us the class, board and medium, whether NEET is a goal, the chapters giving trouble, your locality and free hours, and a fee range. In return you get two or three biology tutors, each with a fee. For the other sciences, see the physics and chemistry home tutor pages for Jodhpur; our national biology home tutor page goes deeper into IGCSE and IB. Biology teachers who live in Jodhpur will find nearby family requests on Jodhpur tuition jobs.

The board's 2026-27 syllabus sets 70 theory marks, 56 from the written paper and 14 sessional, plus a 30-mark practical, and the two must be passed separately. Biology is an optional science subject taken alongside compulsory physics and chemistry, and it uses NCERT textbooks, which also helps NEET preparation.
Genetics and Evolution, at 20 of the 70 theory marks in 2026-27. Reproduction follows with 16, Biology and Human Welfare and Biotechnology with 12 each, and Ecology and Environment with 10. Inheritance crosses should be practised weekly once the genetics chapters begin, rather than left for revision.
Half of it. In the 2026 bulletin, 90 of the 180 questions were biology, divided between botany and zoology, on a paper out of 720 with +4 for a right answer and −1 for a wrong one. NTA publishes the pattern afresh each year on neet.nta.nic.in, so check before planning.
Yes. A suitable tutor gives the sense of each term in Hindi where needed, has the student write it on a diagram, and teaches common word roots, while every written answer stays in English. A personal two-column glossary, tested aloud each week, helps the vocabulary settle.
A good deal. The specimens stay at school, but a tutor can keep the record complete, practise spotting from labelled photographs and NCERT figures, and rehearse viva questions. Practicals carry 30 marks on CBSE and the Rajasthan board, and the Rajasthan board requires the practical to be passed separately.
Usually, yes. Tutors in the northern part of the city mostly come by two-wheeler or auto. In Paota, give a landmark away from the bus stand; in Mahamandir, the station is a clear first reference; and in a gated layout in Vidhya Nagar, share the plot number with the guard.
