Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

CBSE tuition goes wrong in two predictable ways. Either the tutor teaches from an old guidebook and misses what the board changed this year, or the student learns the content but loses marks in the way answers are written. This page is for Jodhpur families who want to avoid both. It explains the CBSE changes that matter for 2026–27, how the papers in Classes 9 to 12 are marked, how CBSE differs from the Rajasthan state board, how tutors reach the colonies in the west and south of the city, and what to check at the demo. Maths guidance on NXTutors is written by Abhinandan Tiwary, who teaches Class 10 CBSE and ICSE maths, and science guidance by Aaditya Kashyap, who teaches CBSE and ICSE science.
CBSE publishes its curriculum for each session on cbseacademic.nic.in, along with sample question papers and marking schemes. A tutor who opens these first knows which chapters are in, how marks are split and what the question types look like this year. A tutor who relies on a bought guide from an earlier year can spend weeks on material that has moved or changed. Ask any candidate tutor, plainly, which of the board's documents they have read for your child's class. The answer is a quick test of how seriously they take the board.
The 2026–27 Secondary curriculum keeps the familiar split in major subjects: 80 marks for the board paper and 20 for internal assessment, with 33 percent needed to pass. About half the questions are competency-focused, meaning they ask the student to apply an idea to an unfamiliar situation rather than reproduce a textbook answer. That is the single biggest reason home practice has to go beyond the NCERT exercises.
Jodhpur families choosing or changing a school often weigh CBSE against the Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan, and it helps to see the two together. Both lean on NCERT content in many subjects, so a CBSE tutor can often help with RBSE content and the other way round. The papers and internal marks are where they part ways.
| Point | CBSE (2026–27 curriculum) | RBSE (2026–27 syllabus) |
|---|---|---|
| Main subject paper | 80 board marks + 20 internal | 80 written marks + 20 sessional |
| Board exams in Class 10 | Two: the first compulsory, the second optional for improving up to three subjects | The Secondary examination, as listed on the board's site |
| Social Science example | Board paper plus internal assessment | History, geography, political science and economics at 20 marks each |
| Where to check | cbseacademic.nic.in and cbse.gov.in | rajeduboard.rajasthan.gov.in |
The practical upshot: if your child moves between the boards, or a tutor mostly teaches one of them, ask how they would adjust practice papers and answer length. Our Rajasthan Board tutors in Jodhpur page covers that board in detail.
Class 9. Every student takes a common 80-mark paper in maths and in science. On top of that, a student may choose an Advanced paper in one subject, both or neither. It carries 25 marks, consists of higher-order questions on extra content, and stays outside the aggregate; a score of 50 percent or more is recorded on the marksheet. A sensible rule for parents: take the Advanced paper only in a subject where the common paper is already secure.
Class 10. Under the board's notification of 14 February 2026, Class 10 has two board exams. The first is compulsory. A student who passes may sit the second to improve marks in up to three subjects from science, maths, social science and the languages. Plan for the first as the real exam; treat the second as insurance. The old Basic and Standard split in maths is being discontinued, with the 2026–27 Class 10 batch the last to sit it, and the third language in these transition years is assessed within the school.
For the year itself, our Class 10 maths preparation and Class 10 science notes guides set out a workable order. Subject pages: maths and science tutors in Jodhpur.
| Subjects (codes) | Theory | Other | What it means for tuition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Physics (042), Chemistry (043), Biology (044) | 70 | 30 practical | The practical file and viva deserve a regular check, not a rush at the end of the year |
| Mathematics (041) or Applied Mathematics (241), one only | 80 | 20 internal | Choose between them carefully in Class 11; the student takes one, not both |
| Accountancy (055), Economics (030), Business Studies (054) | 80 | 20 internal | Presentation and format carry marks; practise full written answers |
Students aiming at an entrance exam alongside the board can find the balance hard. Our JEE and NEET pages for Jodhpur explain how a tutor works beside a batch, and for the Class 12 year see the guides to physics, organic and inorganic chemistry and calculus and algebra.
Some Jodhpur students change boards at the start of Class 11, for example from the Rajasthan Board to a CBSE school. The content shock is usually mild, because the NCERT chapters will look familiar. The harder changes are elsewhere: a new pattern of internal marks, a practical file kept to CBSE's format, and, for a student who studied in Hindi medium, technical terms that now have to be written in English. A tutor can ease all three in the first term. Ask for a list of the key terms in each new chapter with their Hindi equivalents, a check of the practical file every few weeks, and one full written answer per session in the board's style. By the half-yearly exam, the student should be writing comfortably in the new format.
A productive hour usually has three parts. It opens with a short check on last session's work, a few questions from memory, so forgetting is caught early. The middle is new teaching or a difficult exercise, done by the student with the tutor watching the working rather than the final answer. It closes with one board-style question written in full and marked the way an examiner would mark it, so the student sees exactly where steps or keywords were missing. A parent can ask to see that last question each week: it is the clearest view of progress there is.
Tutors in the city travel by two-wheeler or auto. We look near your colony first, then the zone and the rest of Jodhpur, and suggest online lessons when nobody suitable is close enough for a weekly trip.
| Colony | Homes | Tell the tutor |
|---|---|---|
| Shyam Nagar | Independent houses and flats between the centre and Pal Road | The floor and any building entry rules |
| Pal Link Road | Newer flats, houses, plots and gated layouts | A map pin, the tower or plot number, and that the gate expects them |
| Chopasni Housing Board | Flats and plotted houses, organised by sector | Sector and house or flat number |
| Jhalamand | Plots and newer apartment projects | Jhalamand Circle as the landmark, plus the block number |
| Kudi Bhagtasni Housing Board | Flats and houses in numbered Rajasthan Housing Board sectors | Sector, block and house number together |
| Krishna Nagar | Mostly independent houses on plots | A pin for newer colonies; parking is usually simple |
Roads towards the centre are busiest at school and office times, so fix the slot at the start. More on each side of the city: West Jodhpur, South Jodhpur, the Jodhpur home tutors page and our Jodhpur home tuition guide.
For Classes 6 to 10, and for any student who drifts without supervision, a tutor at the table is usually worth the travel. In Classes 11 and 12, a mix works well: one or two home sessions for the hardest subject and a short online session for doubts or a sample-paper review. On the hottest summer days, an online class agreed in advance saves a cancelled week. The same tutor can do both. See online tutors for Jodhpur and our home versus online tutor comparison.
If the fit is not right, we arrange another demo, and switching tutor later is free. The demo class checklist has more ideas, and the CBSE page for Gurgaon covers the board in more general terms.

Major subjects carry 80 board marks and 20 internal marks, and 33 percent is needed to pass. About half the questions are competency-focused, asking students to apply ideas rather than repeat textbook answers. Class 10 now has two board exams; the first is compulsory and the second lets a student improve up to three subjects.
Only in a subject where the common 80-mark paper is already secure. The optional Advanced paper in maths or science carries 25 marks of higher-order questions, stays outside the aggregate, and a score of 50 percent or more is recorded on the marksheet. Never let it eat into preparation for the main paper.
Often with content, since both boards rely on NCERT material in many subjects. The papers differ: the RBSE Class 10 Social Science paper, for example, gives history, geography, political science and economics 20 marks each. Ask the tutor to work from that board's own syllabus and model questions on rajeduboard.rajasthan.gov.in.
Physics, chemistry and biology each carry 70 theory marks and 30 practical marks in the 2026–27 senior curriculum. Nearly a third of the subject depends on the practical file, experiments and viva, so a tutor should check the file regularly, even though the experiments happen at school.
For Classes 11 and 12 it works well for doubts and sample-paper reviews, often alongside one or two home visits for the hardest subject. Younger students usually do better with a tutor at the table. An online class agreed in advance also covers the hottest summer days, when travel is hard.
