Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

In Jamshedpur the first question about a tutor is not qualifications but bridges. The Subarnarekha and the Kharkai divide the city, there is no metro, and a tutor who must cross a river at rush hour rarely lasts the year. Once that is settled, the teaching has to match a board that now asks for more than textbook answers. This page explains how CBSE differs from Jharkhand's state board, what CBSE expects at each stage, the 2026-27 changes in Classes 9 and 10, the subjects Jamshedpur parents most often raise, how tutors reach each zone, and how to judge a CBSE tutor at the free demo. Abhinandan Tiwary writes on Class 10 maths and Aaditya Kashyap on science.
According to our Jamshedpur tutors page, three boards cover most requests from the city: the Jharkhand Academic Council, CBSE, and CISCE's ICSE and ISC. We do not have a split between them and do not make one up. Speaking generally, JAC conducts the Class 10 and Class 12 exams for its affiliated schools from prescribed textbooks and its own paper style, and its syllabus, timetable and pattern should be read from the council's notices each year. CBSE sets papers on the NCERT books, publishes sample papers and marking schemes ahead of the exams, and now gives many marks to applying ideas in unfamiliar settings. The right tutor is the one who knows your child's paper, not simply the subject, so name the board in your request.
| Class | Marks come from | Typical difficulty | Tutor's job |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 to 8 | The school's own tests | Negative numbers, fractions, early algebra | Strong basics, working written down |
| 9 | School exam of 80 marks and 20 internal | A bigger maths and science syllabus all at once | Tests chapter by chapter; advice on Advanced |
| 10 | Board paper of 80, school marks of 20; 33% to pass | Competency questions; losing method marks | Sample papers marked to the scheme |
| 11 | School exams | The senior step in physics, chemistry, maths, accountancy | The foundation for Class 12 |
| 12 | Board theory, practical or internal marks | Whole-syllabus paper; practical files | Revision cycles; practical and project deadlines |
Under CBSE's 2026-27 secondary curriculum, all Class 9 students write the same 80-mark maths and science papers. Those who want more can add Mathematics Advanced, Science Advanced or both: each is a one-hour, 25-mark paper of higher-order questions on extra content. The board keeps those marks out of the aggregate and records on the marksheet when a student scores 50% or more. Basic and Standard maths are being discontinued; the Class 10 batch of 2026-27 completes under the earlier arrangement. A third language is compulsory in the transition years, assessed in school with no board paper. The tutor's honest advice on Advanced matters: it is for the child who already enjoys the subject.
Class 10 now has two board exams. The first is compulsory for every student; the second lets a student who has passed improve marks in up to three subjects drawn from science, maths, social science and the languages. Prepare for the first as if it were the only one. About half of a secondary paper consists of competency questions: case and source passages, data interpretation, situations and applications. Students who have only done NCERT exercises often understand the chapter and still lose these marks, so an unseen passage or table belongs in most sessions. Our Class 10 maths preparation and Class 10 science notes give a workable order.
The Class 12 paper covers the full Class 12 syllabus, and CBSE wants more application questions in senior papers. The design is confirmed each year with the sample paper. The Class 12 physics strategies and calculus and algebra guide help with the board year.
The hub's description of a good CBSE tutor is someone who starts with the NCERT text, works through the official sample papers and marking scheme, and insists on written steps so partial credit is secured even when the final answer slips. A session built on that has three parts: a quick look at the school notebook to see what was set and skipped; one chapter taught from the NCERT explanation outwards to exemplar and competency questions; and two answers written in full and marked step by step, units and diagrams included. Ask for a monthly page listing chapters done, test marks and repeat errors.
Many Jamshedpur students in Classes 11 and 12 already go to JEE or NEET coaching. A CBSE tutor should support that work rather than repeat it, and the board gives the tutor a distinct job. Coaching trains speed on objective questions; the board paper wants complete written answers built on NCERT, a practical record and internal work. So the useful weekly session clears what coaching left unsolved, keeps a single NCERT revision plan that serves the board and the entrance exam together, and spends extra time on whichever subject is holding the total back. It also sets at least one fully written board answer, because a student fluent in objective questions can still lose method marks on a long derivation or a stepwise numerical. On late coaching nights, a short online check replaces the home visit.
Families sometimes move a child between a JAC school and a CBSE school at Class 9 or Class 11. The topics carry over better than the habits. A student arriving in CBSE should spend the first few weeks on NCERT's wording, the board's sample papers and its case-based questions, and on writing every step. A student heading to a JAC school should get the council's prescribed books and latest notices early and practise in its question style. Mention the move in your request so the shortlist favours tutors who know both papers.
Maths and science are the usual requests up to Class 10; physics, chemistry and maths, or accountancy and economics, after that. For how the board works in depth, read our CBSE board hub.
Keep maths and the sciences at home where you can: written working is where CBSE awards marks, and a tutor beside the notebook catches errors at once. Use online for a senior subject whose specialist lives across a river, for evenings when traffic at Dimna Chowk or the station crossing is at its worst, and for short doubt sessions on coaching days. Many families pair a home lesson with an online one from the same tutor; our home versus online comparison explains the trade-offs.

Jamshedpur families request a CBSE home tutor by sending the class, subjects, neighbourhood, nearest market or golchakkar and free slots. For a Jamshedpur tutor, CBSE sets every paper on the NCERT books, publishes sample papers and marking schemes, and gives many marks to applying ideas in unfamiliar settings. JAC, speaking generally, examines from prescribed textbooks in its own paper style, read from the council's notices. Name the board in your request.
A Jamshedpur Class 9 student should attempt CBSE Mathematics or Science Advanced only if they already enjoy that subject. From 2026-27, each Advanced paper is one hour and 25 marks of higher-order questions, alongside the common 80-mark paper. Its marks stay out of the aggregate; 50% or more is recorded.
A Jamshedpur Class 10 student should treat the second CBSE board exam as a back-up, preparing for the compulsory first one as if it were the only chance. A student who passes may use the second to improve up to three subjects from science, maths, social science and the languages.
Jamshedpur students who finish NCERT exercises still drop CBSE Class 10 marks because about half of a secondary paper is competency questions: case and source passages, data interpretation and applications. They understand the chapter but have not met unseen material, so an unseen passage or table belongs in most tutor sessions.
For Jamshedpur senior CBSE students, physics, chemistry and biology are 70 theory and 30 practical. Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, not both, is 80 theory and 20 internal, as are accountancy, economics and business studies. The Class 12 paper covers the full Class 12 syllabus, confirmed each year by the sample paper.
A Jamshedpur CBSE tutor should clear what coaching left unsolved and keep one NCERT revision plan serving board and entrance together. Extra time goes to the subject holding the total back. They should set at least one fully written board answer each week. On late coaching nights, a short online check replaces the visit.
A Jamshedpur child moving into a CBSE school should spend the first weeks on NCERT's wording, sample papers, case-based questions and writing every step. One moving to a JAC school needs the council's prescribed books and latest notices early. Mention the move so the shortlist favours tutors who know both papers.
In Jamshedpur, keep CBSE maths and sciences as home lessons where you can, since written working earns marks and a tutor beside the notebook catches errors. Go online for a senior specialist across a river, for evenings when Dimna Chowk or the station crossing is worst, and for short coaching-day doubt sessions.
At the Jamshedpur demo, ask a CBSE tutor which sample paper and marking scheme they use this year, and have them take your child through an unseen case-based question. Ask how a CBSE answer differs from JAC or ICSE, how they support practical files without doing them, and which days the bridges allow.
