JAC is Jharkhand's state board and holds the Class 12 examination for its affiliated schools. We describe its biology paper only in general terms. The tutor should teach from the prescribed textbooks, practise with the council's own past papers and take the syllabus and pattern from its notices each year. If your child finds English technical terms hard after studying in Hindi, ask for a tutor who can explain in Hindi while answers are written in English, and who builds a glossary of terms as the chapters go.
Many biology marks are lost by answering a different question from the one asked. The instruction word tells the student how much to write and what kind of answer earns marks:

A tutor should mark every written answer against the command word first and the content second. The aim is a student who reads the question word before writing a line, which is where many easy marks are recovered.
Class 11 is where biology stops being a part of science and becomes a large subject in its own right. In CBSE's 2026-27 curriculum, Human Physiology carries 18 of the 70 theory marks, with Cell and Diversity of Living Organisms at 15 each. These chapters are also the ones that return in Class 12 revision and in NEET, so a student who half-learns them in Class 11 pays twice. A tutor helps with a revision rhythm built on spacing:

Genetics and Evolution is the heaviest CBSE Class 12 unit, at 20 of 70 theory marks, and it is where recall stops being enough. Crosses and pedigrees go wrong when a student skips steps, so a tutor should insist on the same layout every time: the parents' genotypes, the gametes each can form, the grid or branch diagram, then the ratios written as both genotype and phenotype. Once the layout is automatic, the tutor can move to problems that hide the information in a passage or a family tree, which is how board and entrance questions often present it. One or two such problems every week, from the day the unit begins, work better than a long session just before the exam.
ISC Biology (863) in Class 12 has a three-hour theory paper of 70 marks, and 30 more come from a three-hour practical (15), project work (10) and a practical file (5). The syllabus says structures are to be taught with diagrams, and answers are marked for named parts and correct terms. Students who took biology as its own ICSE paper in Class 10 know the style; the challenge is the volume. A tutor can question the project plan and check that the file is kept up to date, but the project must remain the student's own.
Biology accounted for 90 of the 180 compulsory questions in the NEET (UG) 2026 bulletin, split between botany and zoology, in a 180-minute, 720-mark paper with four marks for a correct answer and one lost for a wrong one; biology marks were also the first tie-breaker. Preparation means knowing the NCERT books line by line, including diagrams and tables, practising objective questions under time and learning from every mock. Students on these courses usually work with an online specialist. For Cambridge IGCSE 0610, the paper structure is a 45-minute multiple-choice paper (30%), a theory paper of 1 hour 15 minutes (50%) and either a practical test or the alternative to practical (20%), entered at Core (grades C to G) or Extended (A* to G). The alternative to practical asks students to plan methods, read scales and plot results without apparatus, so it needs regular past-paper work. Edexcel 4BI1 is untiered, graded 9 to 1, with practical skills tested in its two written papers. IB Biology is built on four themes at SL (150 hours) or HL (240 hours), with a scientific investigation worth 20%.
