CBSE allots chemistry marks to each chapter, which makes a year plan straightforward. For 2026-27, with the design unchanged, electrochemistry leads at 9 marks, then aldehydes, ketones and carboxylic acids at 8. Five chapters sit at 7: solutions, chemical kinetics, the d- and f-block elements, coordination compounds and biomolecules. Three carry 6: haloalkanes and haloarenes; alcohols, phenols and ethers; and amines. By branch that is organic 33, physical 23 and inorganic 14.

The paper runs to five lettered sections with some internal choice, and neither calculators nor log tables are allowed. About two-fifths of it tests recall and understanding; the rest wants application, analysis or evaluation. For 2026-27 the solid state and Groups 15 to 18 of the p-block have left Class 12 altogether. Surface chemistry, isolation of elements, polymers and chemistry in everyday life remain in the course but are assessed only in school. A NEET or JEE student should not strike these off blindly: NTA issues the entrance syllabi on its own, and some content the board has dropped, including parts of the p-block, may still be examined. Keep two lists, one for the board and one for the entrance exam, and check the official entrance syllabus before cutting anything.
Home sessions work well when they follow the coaching chapter a step behind, not a step ahead. A simple routine:
