What home tuition costs in Bhavnagar

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

ICSE home tutor in Bhavnagar: English-heavy papers, three sciences and ISC electives planned early

ICSE and ISC form one of the three board routes Bhavnagar families meet, and the one where a tutor's board experience matters most. The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) sets long, English-rich papers, separates physics, chemistry and biology at Class 10, and asks ISC students to fix their electives early. A tutor who has taught a different board can be excellent, but only if they change the way they mark answers. This guide explains how CISCE groups and marks subjects, the ISC rules worth knowing before Class 11, how to keep ISC and entrance work together, and how tutors reach six Bhavnagar localities.

Where ICSE sits beside the Gujarat board and CBSE

Bhavnagar families meet three boards: the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB), with the SSC and the HSC in General and Science streams; CBSE; and CISCE, with the ICSE at Class 10 and the ISC at Class 12. We do not publish how many schools follow each, because we have no reliable figure. For tuition, CISCE stands out in three ways. Answers are long and written in English in every subject. Class 10 science is three separate papers. And the ISC lets a student build an unusual mix of electives, which must be chosen with care in Class 11.

If no tutor near you has taught CISCE recently, be ready to widen the search, including online. Our CBSE and Gujarat board pages for Bhavnagar cover the other two boards.

How ICSE groups the Class 10 subjects

ICSE subject groups under the CISCE regulations
GroupWhat it holdsMarks split
Group ICompulsory subjects80 in the exam, 20 internal
Group IITwo or three subjects chosen from the list80 in the exam, 20 internal
Group IIIOne subject50 in the exam, 50 internal

Through the year, schools send home Analysis of Pupil Performance reports. Ask the tutor to read them with you: they often show which kind of question, not which chapter, is costing marks.

Maths and the three science papers at Class 10

Mathematics

One 80-mark paper, plus 20 internal marks from at least two assignments, marked by the teacher and an external examiner. Working must be shown in full; a right answer with a skipped step can lose marks. See our maths home tutor in Bhavnagar page.

Physics, Chemistry, Biology

Three separate 80-mark papers, each with 20 internal marks from practical work. A student strong in one science can be weak in another, so a tutor may focus on just one. See our science home tutor in Bhavnagar page.

English in every paper, not only the English paper

CISCE answers in history, biology or physics run long, so clear written English carries weight in every subject. A student who understands an idea in Gujarati but writes it in short, broken English sentences leaves the examiner guessing. The fix is regular practice in full written answers: the tutor sets a question, the student writes, and the tutor marks for content, order and language together. For the English language and literature papers themselves, a specialist is often worth it; our English home tutor in Bhavnagar page explains what to look for.

Cover the wide ICSE syllabus in rounds rather than one long sweep. A first round in the first half of the year builds understanding; a second round from the autumn turns it into written answers; a final round before the exams is timed papers only. Each round should revisit every subject, so nothing sits untouched for months.

ISC in Classes 11 and 12: rules to know before you choose

  • How many subjects: English is compulsory, with three to five electives, and no more than six subjects in all.
  • Choices fixed early: subjects cannot be changed after a set date in the Class 11 registration year, and any Class 12 subject must have been studied in Class 11.
  • Moving up to Class 12: promotion needs 35% in four subjects including English, and 75% attendance.
  • Practicals: compulsory in subjects that have them. Physics cannot be combined with Engineering Science.
  • Results: grades run from 1 to 9. A pass certificate needs four subjects including English, plus SUPW and Community Service.
  • Mathematics: 80 marks of theory and 20 for a project.

The early cut-off for changing subjects is the one families most often miss. Decide on electives with the tutor and the school before registration, not after the first term. For ISC maths in particular, see our ISC maths tutor page and the ICSE and ISC maths guide.

Keeping ISC and entrance work together

An ISC science student in Bhavnagar may also be preparing for JEE Main or NEET (UG), run by the National Testing Agency, or for GUJCET, which the Gujarat board conducts. The ISC syllabus is broad and its chapter order does not match the entrance syllabus, so the two can drift apart by the middle of Class 11. In the first month, ask the tutor to draw up a two-column chapter map: ISC on one side, entrance syllabus on the other, with shared chapters marked. Then keep one long written ISC answer in every week, even when timed objective practice takes over. See JEE home tutor in Bhavnagar and NEET home tutor in Bhavnagar.

How ICSE tutors reach six Bhavnagar localities

  • Krishnanagar: laid out in the 1930s with regular streets; give the street, house number and a corner landmark. If your child is in an English-medium CISCE school, say so in the request.
  • Chitra: on the western side; say whether you live on the industrial side or in a residential society. If a parent works shifts, agree two fixed slots.
  • Tarsamiya: at the south-eastern edge by its lake; tutors often ride in from Sardarnagar, so a fixed weekly slot and a map pin help.
  • Kumbharwada: say Kumbharwada or New Kumbharwada first, then the street and nearest circle.
  • Akwada: on the south-eastern side, with Akwada Lake as the usual landmark; tell the tutor where to leave a two-wheeler.
  • Nari Road: say how far along the road you live; tutors from Chitra or Kumbharwada reach it easily.

Where no nearby tutor has CISCE experience in your child's subject, an online specialist is often the better choice; our online tuition in Bhavnagar page explains how it works. The Krishnanagar and Ghogha Circle zone page and the Bhavnagar home tutors page have more.

After Class 10: ISC, CBSE or the HSC?

Some ICSE students in Bhavnagar stay with CISCE for the ISC; others move to CBSE or to a GSEB school for the HSC. Each move changes the papers, the style of answers and possibly the medium. A student moving to GSEB HSC Science should check the board's material on gseb.org and ask for a tutor who knows its question bank; one moving to CBSE needs a few weeks of competency-style questions. Read how to choose a board and stream before deciding.

Home, online or a mix for CISCE subjects

For Classes 6 to 10, home visits suit most ICSE students. Long answers are easier to mark beside the student, and a tutor at the table can see whether a diagram is labelled or a step is missing while the pen is still moving. Online works well for three jobs: short recall checks between visits, a specialist in a less common ICSE or ISC elective, and lessons in weeks when travel is hard, such as heavy monsoon days or the festival season. From Class 11, many families settle on one home visit for the hardest subject and online lessons for the rest.

Maths working and science diagrams, Classes 6 to 10At home
English language and literature essaysEither, with the essay sent ahead for marking

Testing a tutor against the CISCE style

  1. Ask the tutor to set one long-answer question and mark your child's answer in front of you, for content and language.
  2. Ask which CISCE specimen papers they use and where they get them.
  3. For maths, ask how they handle the internal assignments without doing the work for the student.
  4. For ISC, ask them to explain the elective rules and the registration cut-off in their own words.
  5. Ask for a weekly slot they can keep, and an online fallback for wet or busy weeks.

The demo class checklist has further questions, and the ICSE board guide for Gurgaon describes the board in more depth.

ICSE Home Tutor in Bhavnagar (ICSE & ISC, Classes 6–12): common questions

How much does an ICSE or ISC home tutor in Bhavnagar charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each ICSE or ISC tutor in Bhavnagar sets their own fee, shown to you before the demo.

How do I find an ICSE tutor in Bhavnagar through NXTutors?

To find an ICSE tutor in Bhavnagar, send the class, subjects, any ISC electives and your locality with a landmark. We reply with two or three matched tutors and show each fee before booking. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free if the fit is wrong.

How are ICSE Class 10 subjects grouped and marked for a Bhavnagar student?

ICSE Class 10 subjects fall into three groups under the CISCE regulations. Group I subjects are compulsory, and Group II has two or three chosen subjects; both are marked 80 in the exam and 20 internal. Group III has one subject, marked 50 in the exam and 50 internal.

How are ICSE maths and the three sciences examined for Bhavnagar candidates?

ICSE maths and the three sciences each have their own 80-mark paper with 20 internal marks. Maths internal marks come from at least two assignments, marked by the teacher and an external examiner. Physics, chemistry and biology are separate papers, each with 20 marks from practical work, so a tutor may focus on one.

Which ISC rules should a Bhavnagar family know before Class 11?

A Bhavnagar family should know that ISC subjects cannot be changed after a set date in the Class 11 registration year. English is compulsory with three to five electives, at most six subjects. Promotion to Class 12 needs 35% in four subjects including English and 75% attendance, and Physics cannot be paired with Engineering Science.

Why does written English matter so much in ICSE answers for a Gujarati-speaking child in Bhavnagar?

Written English matters in ICSE because answers in every subject run long and are judged partly on clarity. A student who understands an idea in Gujarati but writes broken English sentences leaves the examiner guessing. Regular full written answers, marked for content, order and language together, are the fix.

How can an ISC student in Bhavnagar keep entrance work in step?

An ISC student in Bhavnagar keeps entrance work in step by mapping ISC chapters against the JEE, NEET or GUJCET syllabus in the first month. Shared chapters are marked, and the gaps get their own slots. Keep one long written ISC answer every week, even when timed objective practice takes over.

How do ICSE tutors reach Krishnanagar, Chitra or Tarsamiya in Bhavnagar?

ICSE tutors reach Krishnanagar from the central belt, Chitra from Fulsar or Nari Road, and Tarsamiya from Sardarnagar. Give Krishnanagar's street and a corner landmark, say whether a Chitra home is on the industrial side or in a society, and send Tarsamiya's spelling with a map pin.

What if no tutor near our Bhavnagar home has taught CISCE recently?

If no nearby tutor has taught CISCE recently, an online specialist is often the sensible choice. This applies most to uncommon ISC electives and to English literature. One home visit for the hardest subject plus online lessons for the rest is a common pattern from Class 11 onwards.

What should an ICSE student consider before moving to the HSC or CBSE after Class 10?

An ICSE student moving after Class 10 should consider how the papers, answer style and possibly the medium will change. A move to GSEB HSC Science means learning the board's material and question bank. A move to CBSE needs a few weeks of competency-style questions before Class 11 begins.
