Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Parents who choose ICSE in Jabalpur usually know it is a demanding board, but the demand is easy to misjudge. It is less about any single hard chapter and more about the number of separate papers, the length of written answers, and internal work that runs right through the year. In the ISC years, fewer subjects go much deeper, and the subject rules become strict. This page explains how the CISCE route is laid out, how a tutor can keep a wide syllabus from going stale, the ISC rules that catch families out, how ICSE compares with MP Board and CBSE when a move is considered, how tutors reach six Jabalpur localities, and how to test a tutor's CISCE habits in the free demo. Abhinandan Tiwary writes on ICSE maths, Aaditya Kashyap on the sciences and Ajay Vatsyayan on ISC maths.
Jabalpur families study under the state's MP Board, CBSE, CISCE's ICSE and ISC, and a smaller IB or IGCSE group; the Jabalpur home tutors page sets these out, and we do not guess at shares. Set against the others, the council's papers have three features that shape tuition. Answers are long and in English in almost every subject. Science is three papers, not one. And the council publishes subject-wise Analysis of Pupil Performance reports after each exam season, describing where candidates lost marks, which a good tutor reads as closely as any textbook.
| Group | What it contains | Exam : internal |
|---|---|---|
| I, taken by all | English; one more language; History, Civics and Geography | 80 : 20 |
| II, pick two or three | Choices include Mathematics, Science, Economics, Commercial Studies, Environmental Science, and modern foreign or classical languages | 80 : 20 |
| III, pick one | Applied subjects; Computer Applications, Art, Physical Education and Robotics and AI are among them, along with economic and commercial applications | 50 : 50 |
In Group III, internal work carries as much weight as the written paper, so steady effort through the year pays off there more than anywhere. A tutor need not teach that subject to help; a monthly check of what is due is often enough.
The written paper lasts three hours and is out of 80. The other 20 marks come from two or more assignments, and both the class teacher and an examiner from outside the school mark each one. Commercial maths, such as banking and shares, sits beside algebra, geometry, trigonometry and statistics, and every step of working is expected on the page.
Each science is its own two-hour, 80-mark paper, and practical work assessed inside the school adds 20 marks to each. A strong result in one does not lift the other two, so decide early whether one tutor covers all three or whether the weakest needs a specialist.
With so many papers, the commonest problem is not a hard topic but forgetting: chapters from the start of Class 9 are cold by the Class 10 pre-boards. Three habits prevent it.
A typical hour then runs in three parts: the student's own attempts marked line by line, one new idea taught, and one full answer written against the clock.
In ISC Mathematics, a three-hour theory paper is worth 80 and project work the remaining 20. Our ISC maths tutor page and the ICSE and ISC maths guide cover both levels.
| Class | What counts | Tutor's focus |
|---|---|---|
| 6 to 8 | School exams | Full-sentence answers, stepwise maths, correct science vocabulary |
| 9 | Start of the two-year ICSE course | Rotation of old chapters from the first term |
| 10 | ICSE papers and internal marks | Specimen papers and examiner reports, timed, one paper at a time |
| 11 | Promotion rules; subjects fixed in September | Choosing electives carefully; closing the ICSE-to-ISC jump early |
| 12 | ISC theory, practicals and projects | Depth in each elective, with practical and project deadlines kept |
The pattern below is an example for a Class 10 student with two home sessions a week and one short online check. It is not a rule; it shows how a tutor can cover many papers without letting any of them go quiet for long.
| Week | Home sessions | Short online check |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Maths: current chapter, then one old chapter under time | Biology diagrams labelled from memory |
| 2 | Physics numericals; chemistry equations balanced and explained | Project list reviewed against school dates |
| 3 | Maths: a full section of a specimen paper, marked step by step | English: one long answer read aloud and corrected |
| 4 | The weakest science paper, using the latest examiner report | A short note to parents on what moved and what did not |
The same shape works for ISC with fewer, deeper subjects: one elective per week gets the long session, and the others are kept warm through short timed questions.
A Jabalpur student who finishes ICSE generally weighs three paths. Staying for ISC keeps the CISCE style, though electives go much deeper. Moving to CBSE brings NCERT books, CBSE sample papers and shorter answers tied closely to the textbook; maths and science carry across well. Moving to MP Board for Higher Secondary means the board's own syllabus and marking scheme, which it publishes each session on mpbse.nic.in, and possibly a change of medium. Read the new board's current documents before deciding.
Whichever path is chosen, use the summer after Class 10 for a short bridge: the new board's first chapters and question style and, for science students, a calm start on Class 11 physics and maths. Because ISC fixes subjects in September of Class 11, decide early rather than after a term of trying. Our stream choice guide helps with the subject side, and the CBSE and MP Board pages for Jabalpur describe those boards.
The ICSE and ISC board hub explains the board in full, and the ICSE page for Indore covers another Madhya Pradesh city.
ISC elective specialists are fewer than general tutors in any city, so families often keep a local tutor for maths and science and add online lessons for one elective or for literature. The Jabalpur home tuition guide and the Central Jabalpur zone page have more local detail.
For Classes 6 to 10, maths and the three science papers gain most from a tutor at the table, because so much of the marking depends on each written line. Online makes sense for an ISC elective whose specialist lives elsewhere, for short checks before exams, and for days of heavy rain. If maths or science goes online, use a writing tablet, a shared whiteboard or a camera over the notebook. The online tutors for Jabalpur page explains the set-up.

ICSE has many separate papers, including three science papers of 80 marks each, long written answers in English, and internal work in every subject. The difficulty is volume more than any one chapter, so a tutor who keeps old chapters in rotation and sets timed writing helps most.
English is compulsory with three to five electives, six subjects at most. Subjects are fixed after 15 September of Class 11, a Class 12 subject must be studied in Class 11, and promotion needs 35% in four subjects including English and 75% attendance. Practical exams are compulsory where they exist.
It depends on the child. ISC keeps the CISCE style with deeper electives; CBSE brings NCERT and shorter, textbook-tied answers; MP Board means its own syllabus and marking scheme from mpbse.nic.in, and perhaps a change of medium. Decide early, because ISC subjects lock in September of Class 11.
Yes, for some subjects. An ISC elective or literature course whose specialist lives elsewhere suits online lessons well, as do short revision checks. For Classes 6 to 10 maths and science, a tutor at the table usually works better; if online, use a writing tablet or a camera over the notebook.
One three-hour paper of 80 marks plus 20 internal marks from at least two assignments, each marked by the school teacher and an external examiner. Commercial maths sits beside algebra, geometry, trigonometry and statistics, and examiners expect every step, so a tutor should mark working line by line.
