Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Many families start by looking for a tutor who comes home, and that works well for many subjects and many localities. But some needs are hard to meet that way: a council physics specialist who lives across the river, an ISC or IGCSE tutor, an evening slot that clashes with market traffic, a run of heavy-rain days in the monsoon. Live one-to-one online lessons solve those problems without changing tutor. NXTutors can match your child with an online tutor anywhere in India, or combine one with home visits. Either way you see each fee before a free demo, and switching later is free.
Online is not right for every child. Younger children, roughly up to Class 5, usually concentrate better with a tutor in the room. A student who drifts on screen, or who needs someone to check the notebook page by page, often does better at home. Practical-heavy preparation, such as rehearsing salt-analysis steps with the record open, is also easier face to face. And some families simply prefer a tutor at home; tutors in Imphal usually travel by two-wheeler or auto, and a precise leikai address with a landmark makes the first visit easy.
| Student | Suggested format | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Classes 1 to 5 | Home | Attention and handwriting need someone in the room |
| Classes 6 to 10, all-round help | Home, with online on rainy days | Regular notebook checks; one familiar tutor |
| Class 10 board year (HSLC or CBSE) | Home plus a short online session before tests | Extra practice without extra travel |
| Classes XI and XII, council or CBSE science | Online specialist, or a mix | The right subject tutor may live elsewhere |
| ISC, IB or IGCSE | Mostly online | A wider choice of board-experienced tutors |
| JEE or NEET alongside the board | Online for timed practice; home or online for board answers | Screen sharing suits objective practice and review |
Yes, if the tutor uses the right material, and much of it is online already. The Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur posts its question designs, syllabi and previous question papers on cohsem.nic.in, so a tutor anywhere can plan to the council's paper. Two points need care. Council English uses the council's own anthology and supplementary reader, so the student must share the relevant pages. And from 2026-27, non-practical subjects carry 20 internal marks for periodic tests and project work, which a tutor can support online by marking tests and reviewing project drafts.
For Class 10, the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur conducts the HSLC examination, but its site does not post a paper pattern we could read. Photograph the school's sample papers and send them to the tutor before the first lesson. CBSE material is national, so any CBSE tutor can work from it. See the Manipur Board and CBSE pages for Imphal.
The council's academic calendar runs Class XII teaching from late May to late January, with the examinations in February and March. A practical pattern for a council student: home visits through the summer and autumn, with an agreed rule that a heavy-rain day means "same time, on screen"; online doubt sessions before the August and October term tests and the January pre-final; and online full papers in December and January, when timed practice matters more than travel. Agree these rules with the tutor at the start, so a change of mode never means a missed week.
NXTutors does not run its own video classroom; the tutor and family agree a tool they both find easy. Tutors who join go through an ID check before their profile is marked Verified.
After four or five sessions, ask: does your child finish work set between lessons? Do school or periodic test marks move in the tutor's subject? Can your child explain a recent topic aloud? Does the tutor send short notes on what was covered? If most answers are yes, the format is working. If not, try a home tutor or a mix before giving up on the subject; our home or online tutor and online versus offline tutoring articles help you weigh it.
Keep lessons in a shared space at home, not a closed bedroom, especially for younger students; a parent within earshot for the first few sessions also helps the child settle into the format. Use a parent's phone number or email for scheduling, and keep messages with the tutor on that channel. Ask for the session link from the tutor you booked, and do not share it. Recording lessons is something to agree openly with the tutor at the start, never to do silently on either side. If anything feels wrong, end the lesson and contact us; you can switch tutor at no cost.
Any locality can, but a few examples show why a mix helps:
The Imphal page and its zone pages for Uripok, Thangmeiband and Lamphel, Sagolband, Keishampat and Singjamei and Wangkhei, Khurai and Porompat lead to each locality's page, where tutor cards start with those nearest and widen to online tutors from elsewhere, each card labelled.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets a rate for online and for home lessons, and some charge much the same either way; the class, board, subject and number of weekly sessions matter more than the mode. Every rate is shown before the demo. The Imphal fee guide and the pricing guide list questions to ask.
Subject pages for Imphal: maths, science, physics, chemistry and English. The Imphal home tuition guide covers the city, and tutors can find requests on Imphal tuition jobs.
When the right specialist lives far off or in another city, when your board is less common locally, when an after-school slot clashes with busy roads, or on heavy-rain days. Younger children and students who need close notebook checks usually do better with a tutor at home.
Yes. The council posts its question designs, syllabi and previous question papers on cohsem.nic.in, so a tutor anywhere can plan to them. For English, share pages from the council's own anthology and supplementary reader, and send periodic test papers so the tutor can help with internal marks.
Yes, and it often works well. One workable arrangement is regular home visits with an agreed rule that a heavy-rain day becomes an online session at the same time, plus short online doubt sessions before term tests. Agree the rule at the start so no week is lost.
Use the Home tutor / Online / Either switch in the search on our home page, or filter tutor profiles in online mode by subject, board, class, fee, experience, rating and gender. The demo request has a Mode field; choose online, and two or three matched tutors come back with fees.
NXTutors does not run its own video classroom. You and the tutor agree a tool you both find easy, and the tutor sends the link. A laptop or tablet, a headset with a microphone and a phone camera for showing written work make lessons much smoother than a phone alone.
