How much of an Agra science tutor's week goes on the board exam, and how much on the years before it? More than you might expect goes on Classes 8 and 9. By Class 9 science behaves like three subjects at once, with numericals in physics, equations in chemistry and diagrams in biology, and parents in Agra often call a tutor when the first class test of that year comes home with a low mark. Class 10 then brings the UP Board High School, CBSE or ICSE paper, and the requests become very specific about board and medium.

This page covers the science papers Agra students face, the zones that make a workable after-school round, what families expect, and how a profile and a demo can set you apart. Joining is free and you decide your fee; leads, credits and payment are explained in the shared module further down.
The UP Board High School science paper is the first pressure point, and its practical share is larger than many tutors assume. Science is a 70-mark written paper with 30 marks of practical work, and a student must reach 23 in the paper and 10 in the practical. For 2026-27 the written marks fall into five units: chemical substances 20, the world of living 20, effects of current 13, natural phenomena 12 and natural resources 5. Marks slip in predictable places: unbalanced equations, diagrams with missing labels, circuit numericals without units, ray diagrams placed by eye, and the five-mark natural resources unit left unrevised because it looks small. The model paper opens with one-mark multiple-choice questions on an OMR sheet, then a descriptive Section B; both sections are split into three sub-sections, and the answers to each Section B sub-section must be written together, starting on a fresh page. A tutor should practise that layout on full papers, not just the content.
CBSE Class 10 is built differently. The 80-mark board paper has 39 questions, biology takes 30 of the marks and chemistry and physics 25 each, and half the paper tests knowledge and understanding, 30% application and 20% analysis and evaluation. Three areas are assessed by the school this year rather than on the board paper: the electric motor, electromagnetic induction and the generator; evolution; and the periodic arrangement of elements. The curriculum also lists 14 experiments that board questions draw on. In Class 9, CBSE now follows NCERT's new book, Exploration, with matter carrying 27 marks, the world of living 25, motion, force, work and sound 23, and Earth as a system 5, so notes from an older sibling no longer match.
The Agra factor running through all of this is medium. The UP Board model paper is set in Hindi, many students write science in Hindi, and others switch to English in Class 9 or Class 11. ICSE students sit physics, chemistry and biology as three separate papers with their own internal assessment, and ICSE science tutors can take longer for families to find, so a tutor who knows those papers is noticed. Younger classes using NCERT's Curiosity books in Classes 6 and 7 want activities turned into short written explanations and labelled sketches.
Science tuition usually means an after-school slot several days a week, so keep your round tight. In North Agra, Kamla Nagar's lettered blocks and Balkeshwar Colony sit side by side, with Dayal Bagh and the New Agra colonies further north where houses let you park at the door; Raja ki Mandi station suits tutors arriving by train. West Agra stretches from Sikandra on the Mathura road through the numbered Avas Vikas sectors to Shastripuram, Bodla and Lohamandi, and evening traffic at Bodla crossing argues for fixing times early.
Central Agra and Cantt, around Civil Lines, Khandari, Shahganj and Sadar Bazaar, has many apartment buildings with a guard and cantonment homes that may check visitors. South Agra's Tajganj lanes are narrow, Fatehabad Road buildings log visitors at the gate, and the Yellow Line metro section to Taj East Gate helps tutors from the old city. Trans Yamuna Colony, Kalindi Vihar and Rambagh suit tutors living on the east bank, since crossing the bridges in the evening is slow. Ask for a park or shop landmark before a first visit to Kalindi Vihar's inner streets.
Your profile should show that you know which science book the child carries. Write the boards and classes first, then the medium, then a line on method: 'chapter tests every fortnight; UP Board model papers in the board's layout from October'. Choose localities you can reach at the same hour every week. A tutor in Shahganj might cover Civil Lines and Khandari; one in Kalindi Vihar might keep to the east bank and teach the rest online.
In the free demo, test the three strands separately in a few minutes each: one labelled diagram from biology, one equation to balance, one short circuit or lens numerical. Then explain to the parent where the marks are leaking and what the first month would look like. If the student studies in Hindi and you can teach in both languages, show it by using the Hindi term and its English equivalent side by side. That small moment often decides the family.

Pro, Premium and Featured are optional platform subscriptions: more visibility, AI tools and more lead credits. They are never a fee to apply for a tuition. See tutor plans.
A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.
You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
Class 10 for the board paper, and Classes 8 and 9 where the three sciences start to separate. Younger classes ask too, mostly for careful reading and written explanations. List each class you teach and the board you know.
Thirty marks, against 70 for the written paper, and a student must pass both parts: 23 in the paper and 10 in the practical. A home tutor cannot run the lab, but can make sure each experiment is understood, written up and revised.
Not always, but it widens your options. The UP Board model paper is set in Hindi and many students answer in Hindi; CBSE and ICSE students usually write in English. Say clearly which medium you teach in.
The 2026-27 curriculum uses NCERT's new Class 9 book, Exploration, with new unit weights, so plan from the new chapters rather than older notes. The yearly exam is still 80 marks plus 20 internal.
The colonies around where you live. Weekly science lessons depend on a reliable hour, so a tutor in the Avas Vikas sectors keeps to the west, one in Kamla Nagar to the north, and so on. Online lessons can cover families on the other bank.
