Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Science looks like a single subject on an Agra school timetable, but by Class 9 it behaves like three: numericals in physics, equations in chemistry and diagrams in biology, each marked in its own way. Families here meet it through the UP Board's High School course, through CBSE and NCERT, or through ICSE, and often in Hindi as well as English. What you need is a tutor who teaches from the book your child actually uses, can reach your colony at the same hour after school, and builds exam habits before Class 10 arrives. Tell NXTutors the class, board and medium; we send two or three science tutors with their fees shown, and the first class is a free demo.
Aaditya Kashyap writes the CBSE and ICSE science guidance on this page. A tutor's job changes as a child moves up, and the stage matters more than the board in the early years:
Until Class 10, one tutor for all three sciences usually works, because one person can see whether a wrong physics answer comes from the idea or the arithmetic. The national science home tutor page sets out our approach, and the Class 6 and Class 8 science tutor pages cover the early years.
The UP Board (Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, Uttar Pradesh) sets science at High School as a 70-mark written paper with 30 marks of practical work, and a student must reach 23 in the paper and 10 in the practical. For 2026-27 the written marks are divided into five units:
| Unit | Marks | Where marks slip |
|---|---|---|
| Chemical substances | 20 | Unbalanced equations and names of compounds written from guesswork |
| World of living | 20 | Diagrams with missing or misspelt labels |
| Effects of current | 13 | Circuit numericals without units or with the wrong formula |
| Natural phenomena | 12 | Ray diagrams without arrows, or with the image placed by eye |
| Natural resources | 5 | Left unrevised because it looks small |
The board's model paper opens with a Section A of one-mark multiple-choice questions answered on an OMR sheet, followed by a descriptive Section B. Both are split into three sub-sections, and the answers to each Section B sub-section are written together, starting on a fresh page. That sounds like a small rule, but a student who jumps between questions loses order and time. A tutor should practise the layout on full papers, not just the content. The model paper is set in Hindi, so a student writing in English needs a tutor who can work comfortably with both versions of the terms. The UP Board tutors in Agra page covers the board as a whole.
Many chapters overlap, which is why families sometimes assume one tutor's notes suit both. The papers are built differently, though:
| Point | UP Board High School | CBSE Class 10 |
|---|---|---|
| Written paper | 70 marks | 80 marks |
| School share | 30 practical marks | 20 internal marks, 5 each for periodic tests, multiple assessment, portfolio and subject enrichment |
| Largest units | Chemical substances and world of living, 20 each | Chemical Substances and World of Living, 25 each |
| Objective part | One-mark MCQs on an OMR sheet | Twenty one-mark items, including assertion–reason |
| Practice material | The board's model paper and question bank | CBSE sample papers and marking schemes |
The 2026-27 CBSE sample paper has 39 questions: twenty of one mark, six of two, seven of three, three four-mark questions built on a case or source, and three long answers of five. Biology takes 30 of the 80 board marks, chemistry and physics 25 each, and by skill half the paper tests knowledge and understanding, 30% application and 20% analysis and evaluation. Each block needs its own drill: fast recall for one-mark items, as many distinct points as there are marks in short answers, the passage read first in case-based items, and a diagram or equation in every long answer.
Three areas are left out of the board paper this year and assessed by the school: the electric motor, electromagnetic induction and the generator; evolution; and the periodic arrangement of elements. Teach them properly, since they return in Class 11, but keep revision weeks for the examined chapters. Every Class 10 student sits the main exam, and eligible students may take an optional second exam to improve up to three subjects, science included; the 2027 dates are not yet announced on cbse.gov.in. The CBSE Class 10 science notes work through each chapter, and the Class 10 science tutor page shows how a board year is planned.
For CBSE, yes. The 2026-27 curriculum follows NCERT's new Class 9 book, Exploration, with 80 marks for the yearly exam and 20 internal. Matter, its nature and behaviour carries 27; World of living 25; Motion, force, work and sound 23; and Earth as a system 5. Notes handed down from an older sibling follow the earlier book, so the tutor should plan from the new chapters. See the Class 9 science tutor page.
At ICSE Class 10, CISCE sets Physics, Chemistry and Biology as three separate papers, each with its own internal assessment. Schools choose their textbooks within the syllabus, so the tutor works from your child's books and CISCE specimen papers rather than an NCERT plan. Exact definitions and complete numericals win marks. ICSE science tutors can take longer to find, so ask early; an online tutor can widen the choice for the one paper that needs it.
Practical work is 30 marks at UP Board High School and part of the internal 20 at CBSE, where the curriculum lists 14 experiments that board questions also draw on. The apparatus stays in the school lab, but a tutor at home can make sure the practical file is complete, with aim, diagram, observation table, result and precautions for each experiment; that the student can explain why each step is done; and that the questions an examiner is likely to ask are rehearsed aloud. A short practical check every few weeks avoids a scramble just before the exam.
For Classes 6 to 10 the lesson usually sits between school and dinner, so a short, predictable trip for the tutor matters more than anything. Browse tutors by locality on our Agra page.
| Colony | Homes | Way in | Tell the tutor |
|---|---|---|---|
| Balkeshwar Colony | Houses and flats off Balkeshwar Road, in lanes such as Sitaram Colony and Balkeshwar Kunj | Autos run along Balkeshwar Road for the last stretch | The market or the nearest crossing, as house numbers can be hard to follow |
| Kamla Nagar | Independent houses, flats and plots across Blocks A to F | Two-wheeler or auto; easy to pair with a Balkeshwar visit | Your block and building, and a slot before the markets fill |
| Shastripuram | Plotted colonies of independent houses, some streets still being built on | Mostly by two-wheeler; Bichpuri is the closest railway station | A map pin and a landmark for the newer pockets |
| Bodla | Mostly independent houses with two or three bedrooms | Cabs and autos are easy to find; Idgah station is the nearest rail point | The lane name and a nearby shop; a time away from the evening rush at Bodla crossing |
| Sikandra | Houses with gates, and apartment buildings | Autos and buses along the Mathura road | Tower and floor for a flat; a fixed time, as the highway is busiest in the evening |
| Civil Lines | Mainly ready apartments in the city centre | Reachable from most sides by auto, cab or two-wheeler | Block and flat number, and whether the guard needs the tutor's name |
If the right science tutor lives on the far side of the city, one home lesson and one online lesson a week keeps the plan going without two long trips. The home tutor or online tutor article weighs the options.
If the tutor is not right, the next one on your shortlist takes a demo, and switching later is free. The demo class checklist for parents has more questions to ask.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fees. Board-year teaching in Class 10 tends to sit above help in Classes 6 to 8, and the trip to your colony and the number of sessions a week also count. Fees are on the shortlist before the demo, and the Agra home tuition fees article lists questions to ask.
Tell us the class, the board and medium, the strand that worries you most (physics, chemistry or biology), your colony with a landmark, and the afternoons that suit. We send two or three science tutors with fees, and you pick one for a free demo. Tutors who join go through an ID check. If nobody suitable can reach you at that hour, we suggest an online or part-online plan. NXTutors works from Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online across India. For later years, see our physics and chemistry tutor pages for Agra and the Agra home tuition guide.

UP Board High School science for an Agra student is a 70-mark written paper plus 30 practical marks, with 23 and 10 needed to pass. In 2026-27, chemical substances and the world of living carry 20 each, effects of current 13, natural phenomena 12 and natural resources 5. Section A opens with one-mark questions on an OMR sheet.
The UP Board High School science paper asks Agra students to write each Section B sub-section's answers together, starting on a fresh page. A student who jumps between questions loses order and time, so a tutor should practise the layout on full papers. The model paper is set in Hindi, so English writers need terms in both languages.
A science tutor in Agra can know both boards but should teach one at a time for your child. The chapters overlap, yet the UP Board paper is 70 marks with 30 practical, while CBSE sets 80 with 20 internal, larger 25-mark units and assertion-reason items. Ask at the demo how they would prepare for your board.
The CBSE Class 10 science sample paper an Agra student practises has 39 questions, from twenty one-mark items to three five-mark answers. Between them sit six of two marks, seven of three and three four-mark case items. Biology takes 30 of the 80 board marks, chemistry and physics 25 each, and half the paper tests knowledge and understanding.
For 2026-27, Agra CBSE students have the electric motor, electromagnetic induction and the generator, evolution, and the periodic arrangement of elements assessed by the school, not the board paper. They return in Class 11, so they should be taught properly, but revision weeks go to the examined chapters.
Yes, CBSE Class 9 science for Agra students now follows NCERT's new book, Exploration, with 80 marks for the yearly exam and 20 internal. Matter carries 27, World of living 25, Motion, force, work and sound 23, and Earth as a system 5. Notes from an older sibling follow the earlier book, so plan from the new chapters.
Yes, a science tutor in Agra can help an English writer facing a Hindi UP Board model paper, if they work comfortably with both versions of the terms. At the demo, check that terms are explained in the language your child follows and written as the exam expects.
Often one tutor can cover all three ICSE science papers in Agra, though ICSE science tutors can take longer to find, so ask early. CISCE sets Physics, Chemistry and Biology as separate Class 10 papers, and schools pick their own books, so the tutor works from those and CISCE specimen papers. An online tutor can widen the choice for one paper.
A science tutor finds a house in Balkeshwar Colony or Shastripuram in Agra most easily with a clear landmark. In Balkeshwar, lanes such as Sitaram Colony open off Balkeshwar Road, and the market or nearest crossing helps more than a house number. Parts of Shastripuram are still being built on, so share a map pin.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
