What home tuition costs in Agra

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

JEE home tutors by locality in Agra

JEE home tutor in Agra: one clear job, a slot that holds, and a tutor from your bank of the river

Agra families who keep a JEE aspirant at home usually build the year from three pieces: school, a coaching batch or a self-study plan, and a tutor who fills the gaps the other two leave. The tutor is the easiest piece to get wrong. Hire someone who simply repeats the batch and the hours vanish; hire someone who lives across the Yamuna and the visits fade by winter. This page is about getting that piece right in Agra: what to ask the tutor to own, how the week fits around the batch, which localities tutors can reach without strain, how a UP Board or Hindi-medium student meets the NTA syllabus, and what changes between Class 11, Class 12 and a repeat year. For the exam in full, read the national JEE home tutor page.

Three things to settle before you look for anyone

  1. Which subject is losing marks? Look at the last three coaching or school tests. If one subject sits well below the other two, the tutor should be a specialist in that subject, not a generalist for all three.
  2. Who sets the pace? If a batch already runs the chapter calendar, the tutor follows it. If there is no batch, the tutor must write a calendar from the NTA syllabus in the first fortnight and you should ask to see it.
  3. Table or screen? Some teenagers concentrate at the dining table with an adult nearby; others do better on a screen in their own room. Decide this honestly, because it changes which tutors you can consider.

Write the three answers down and send them with your request. Matching gets far more precise when we know the weak subject, the batch timings and the format you prefer.

JEE Main and JEE Advanced, briefly

The National Testing Agency conducts JEE (Main). Its 2026 bulletin described Paper 1 as a three-hour computer-based test of 75 questions worth 300 marks, with mathematics, physics and chemistry each contributing 20 multiple-choice and 5 numerical-answer questions. A correct answer earned four marks and a wrong one cost a mark in both kinds, and the paper ran in two sessions, January and April. Candidates who ranked high enough on Paper 1 became eligible for JEE (Advanced), set as two compulsory papers of three hours each, available in English and Hindi, and limited to two attempts in consecutive years. Details shift from cycle to cycle, so treat jeemain.nta.nic.in and jeeadv.ac.in as the only authority.

What to put in the tutor's brief

Give the tutor a written brief, even a short one. The jobs below are the ones a home tutor does better than a batch of sixty, and a good tutor will recognise them at once.

Jobs a JEE home tutor in Agra can own, and how you check them
JobWhat it looks like each weekHow a parent checks it
Backlog clearanceEvery unsolved sheet question and every wrong test answer worked through before the next chapter startsA notebook of corrected errors that grows weekly
Weak-subject repairMost of the tutor's hours go to the one subject pulling the total downThat subject's share of test marks rises over a term
Timed practiceFull or half papers under exam timing, then a question-by-question reviewThe review is written: why each mark was lost
Board protectionWritten, stepwise answers for the school paper in the months before itSchool test scripts show full working, not just final answers

Our older guide on choosing between coaching and a home tutor was written for a different city, but its way of dividing the work applies to Agra as well.

How a JEE week in Agra can be laid out

Batches and school take the middle of the day, and evening roads fill near the busy crossings. The pattern below is an example to adapt, not a rule.

An example week for an Agra JEE student with a batch
WhenWhat happensAgra consideration
Two weekday morningsA home session in the weak subject before schoolThe tutor travels before the market roads and river bridges get busy
One batch eveningA short online doubt session once the batch endsNo one crosses the city late; the doubts are an hour old, not a week old
Saturday or SundayA full timed paper in the morning, reviewed with the tutor laterWeekend traffic on the highway side is lighter for many families
Exam weeks at schoolSessions switch to the board subject that is dueAgree this at the start so the tutor does not lose the slot

During the hottest weeks and on days when roads near the monument areas fill with visitors, an agreed online fallback keeps the session without anyone arguing about it on the day.

Six localities and how tutors reach them

Agra splits naturally into the city side and the east bank of the Yamuna, and the bridges are the slow point. A tutor who lives on your side of the river is far more likely to last the whole year.

  • Khandari sits on the highway around Khandari Crossing, with apartments among houses and shops. Tell the building guard to expect the tutor, and avoid the crossing in the late afternoon.
  • Shahganj has many two-bedroom apartments and houses in the lanes, close to Agra Cantt station and the Idgah bus stand. Share the building name and floor before the first visit.
  • Fatehabad Road has its own Yellow Line metro station, so a tutor from the Agra Fort side can ride the metro and take an auto for the last stretch. Gated buildings usually record visitor details.
  • Rajpur Chungi runs along Shamshabad Road, which gets crowded at peak hours, and parking near the market is tight. A slot a little before or after the evening rush works better.
  • Kalindi Vihar is across the river with parks and tree-lined streets; give the block, house number and a nearby park as a landmark, and consider an afternoon slot.
  • Rambagh, also on the east bank, is reached over the bridges or from the neighbouring colonies; the bridge approaches slow down at office hours.

The zone pages go into more detail: Central Agra and Cantt, South Agra (Tajganj and Fatehabad Road) and Trans-Yamuna (East Agra). Every locality is listed on the Agra home tutors page, and our Agra home tuition guide walks through each part of the city.

UP Board, CBSE or ICSE: closing the gap to the NTA syllabus

Schools in Agra follow several boards, and each one meets JEE from a different starting point.

  • UP Board (UPMSP). The board's own 2026-27 Class 11 chemistry syllabus, published in Hindi on upmsp.edu.in, lists nine units, from basic concepts and atomic structure through equilibrium and redox to organic basics and hydrocarbons, for a 70-mark three-hour paper plus a 30-mark practical, with at least 8 marks of numerical questions. The chapter names will feel familiar from coaching; the difference is depth and question style. A tutor should map each board unit to the entrance syllabus, then add the multiple-choice and numerical drill the board paper does not ask for.
  • CBSE. The school books are NCERT, so content matches closely. The risk runs the other way: months of objective practice can make board answers thin, so build in written practice before the board.
  • ICSE and ISC. The syllabus is wide and answers are long. Line the school's chapter order up with the coaching order early, so the two do not drift months apart.

Language. Some Agra students read science most comfortably in Hindi, others in English or a mix of the two. The 2026 Main bulletin offered 13 languages and the 2026 Advanced brochure offered English and Hindi; pick the paper language in Class 11, practise in it from then on, and look for a tutor who gives each technical term in both languages. The board side is covered on our UP Board tutors in Agra page, and the subject pages for maths, physics and chemistry in Agra go subject by subject.

Class 11, Class 12 and a repeat year

Where the tutor's hours should go at each stage
StageMain focusWarning sign to act on
Class 11Mechanics, calculus basics, mole concept and atomic structure, with an error log from the first monthTest marks in one subject falling term on term; Class 11 gaps are hard to recover later
Class 12New chapters, steady Class 11 revision, then full papers ahead of the January sessionNo written board practice scheduled by the start of winter
Repeat yearA diagnosis of last year's papers, rebuilt weak chapters, a high volume of timed papersThe same chapters failing again; change the method, not just the hours

Before choosing a repeat year, read the eligibility rules in the current bulletin and brochure: in 2026 Main had no age limit, and Advanced allowed two attempts in consecutive years. For topic-by-topic planning, see our guides to JEE maths, JEE physics and JEE chemistry, and the JEE physics tutor page.

Which JEE subject at home, which online?

A workable home and online split for Agra
SubjectSuggested formatReason
PhysicsHomeThe tutor needs to watch how the student sets up a problem, where the diagram goes wrong, which law gets picked
MathematicsHome for new methods; online for paper reviewsLong working on paper; a shared screen suits going through a timed paper
ChemistryOnline for inorganic and organic recall; home if numericals in physical chemistry are weakShort, frequent recall checks are easy on screen

For Advanced-level problem solving, a specialist teaching online from another city may suit better than the nearest tutor. Our online tutors for Agra page and the home or online tutor comparison explain the trade-offs.

What to test in the JEE demo

  1. Bring three coaching questions the student could not finish. Does the tutor find the exact step where the student stalls, and then let the student complete it?
  2. Ask how negative marking should change the student's approach to guessing. A clear, specific answer is a good sign.
  3. Ask about your child's board: what the school paper expects, and when board practice will start.
  4. Check the language: could your child follow every step, whether the lesson was in Hindi, English or both?
  5. Ask the route: where the tutor lives, whether they cross the river, and what happens on a jammed evening.

If the fit is wrong, we arrange another demo, and switching tutor later is free. The demo class checklist has more questions.

JEE Home Tutor in Agra: common questions

What should a JEE home tutor in Agra actually do if my child already attends coaching?

Give the tutor a narrow brief: clear every unsolved sheet question and wrong test answer each week, spend most hours on the weakest subject, run timed papers with a written review, and keep stepwise board answers in practice. Repeating the batch lecture wastes the hour, so ask for a notebook of corrected errors you can check.

Can a UP Board student in Agra prepare for JEE with a home tutor?

Yes. The board's Class 11 chemistry syllabus, for example, covers chapter names a coaching student already knows, from atomic structure to hydrocarbons. The tutor maps each board unit to the NTA syllabus and adds the objective and numerical drill the board paper does not demand. Take board rules only from upmsp.edu.in.

How do you find a JEE tutor who can reach our part of Agra?

We look first for tutors near your locality, whether that is North Agra, West Agra, Central Agra and Cantt, South Agra along Fatehabad Road or the Trans-Yamuna side, then widen to the zone and the city. Bridge traffic wears down regular visits, so where nobody suitable lives on your bank, an online tutor is the fallback.

Which time of day works for JEE tuition in Agra?

Weekday mornings before school suit a focused home session, since the tutor travels before market roads and bridges fill. On batch evenings a short online doubt session avoids a late crossing. Keep a weekend morning for a full timed paper, and agree an online fallback for the hottest weeks and crowded days.

Can my child take JEE in Hindi and study with a Hindi-speaking tutor?

The 2026 JEE Main bulletin offered 13 languages and the 2026 Advanced brochure offered English and Hindi, so check the current documents. Decide the paper language in Class 11 and practise in it. A tutor who gives each technical term in both Hindi and English helps students who move between the two.

Should JEE physics be taught at home or online in Agra?

Physics usually works better at home, because the tutor needs to watch how the student sets up a problem and draws the diagram. Maths suits home lessons for new methods and online reviews of timed papers. Chemistry recall works well online. For Advanced-level problems, an online specialist from another city is worth considering.

How much does a JEE home tutor cost in Agra?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee and you see it before booking the free demo.

How do we try a JEE tutor in Agra before committing?

Send the class, board, weak subject, batch timings and your locality with a landmark. We send two or three matched tutors and you take a free demo with the one you prefer. Bring three unfinished coaching questions and watch who does the solving. If the fit is wrong, we arrange another demo, and later switching is free.
