What home tuition costs in Agra

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

ICSE and ISC home tutors in Agra: a wide syllabus, long answers, and electives chosen with care

The council behind ICSE and ISC, CISCE, sets a broad syllabus and expects long, well-organised written answers. For an Agra student the difficulty is rarely one chapter; it is keeping a dozen subjects moving at once, writing at length under time pressure, and choosing ISC electives that will still make sense two years later. A home tutor helps most when the brief reflects that: revision in rounds, timed writing every week, and a firm grip on internal and project work. This page sets out how the ICSE and ISC years are built, where tutors add the most, how they reach your part of Agra, and what to look for in the free demo. ICSE maths guidance on NXTutors comes from Abhinandan Tiwary, who teaches Class 10 ICSE and CBSE maths; the sciences from Aaditya Kashyap, who teaches ICSE and CBSE science; and ISC maths from Ajay Vatsyayan, who teaches IB, IGCSE and ISC maths.

Where CISCE fits among Agra's boards

Agra's schools follow several boards: CBSE, the UP Board (UPMSP, which examines High School at Class 10 and Intermediate at Class 12) and CISCE, among others. We hold no figures on how many students sit each, and we will not guess. What matters for an ICSE family is that a tutor who has spent years on another board may not drill the council's long-answer style. Ask directly how many ICSE or ISC students the tutor has taught, and in which subjects. If a younger child is still choosing a board, compare our CBSE and UP Board pages for Agra.

ICSE subject groups and where the marks come from

The three ICSE groups under the CISCE regulations, and what each asks of a tutor
GroupWhat it containsExam : internalTutor's job
I (compulsory)English, a second language, and History, Civics and Geography80 : 20Long answers, map and source work, essay practice
II (two or three)Choices such as Mathematics, Science, Economics, Commercial Studies, a modern or classical language, Environmental Science80 : 20Steady coverage and timed papers
III (one)An applied subject, for example Computer Applications, Economic or Commercial Applications, Art, Physical Education, Robotics and AI50 : 50Keeping project work on schedule, since half the marks sit there

The Group III subject is easy to neglect because it feels light. With half its marks earned through the year, it rewards the student who keeps it moving every month.

The ICSE maths and science papers

  • Mathematics: one three-hour paper of 80 marks, plus 20 internal marks from at least two assignments, each assessed by the school's teacher and by an external examiner. Commercial topics such as banking and shares sit beside algebra, geometry, trigonometry and statistics, and every step of working is expected.
  • Physics, Chemistry and Biology: three separate two-hour papers of 80 marks, each with 20 marks of internal practical assessment. Doing well in one says little about the other two, so ask whether one tutor will cover all three or whether the weakest needs a specialist.
  • The council's own feedback: CISCE publishes a subject-wise Analysis of Pupil Performance after each exam season, showing where candidates lost marks. A tutor who uses it beside the specimen papers is teaching to the real examiner.

For subject depth, see maths, physics, chemistry, biology and English tutors in Agra, and our ICSE and ISC maths guide.

Revision in rounds: how a tutor keeps early chapters alive

The two-year ICSE course begins in Class 9, and by the Class 10 papers a student must recall chapters from eighteen months earlier. The fix is structural, not heroic:

  1. A rolling calendar. Every few weeks, one session returns to an older chapter in each weak paper, so nothing goes cold.
  2. Timed writing from Class 9. Speed in long answers grows slowly; starting in the last term is too late.
  3. A dated project list. Every internal assignment and practical record, with its deadline, checked at the start of each month.
  4. Marked attempts first. Each session opens with the student's own work marked line by line, then one new topic, then one full answer against the clock.

The ICSE Class 10 board-year plan was written for another city, but its month-by-month shape works in Agra too.

ISC in Classes 11 and 12: the rules to know early

ISC regulations that shape the two senior years
RuleWhat it means at home
English plus three to five electives, six subjects at mostChoose electives for the career path, not to fill a timetable
No subject change after 15 September of the Class 11 registration year; a Class 12 subject must have been studied in Class 11Settle doubts about a subject in the first term; a tutor can test fit quickly
Promotion needs 35% in four subjects including English, and 75% attendanceEnglish cannot be left to chance in Class 11
Practicals compulsory where a subject has them; Physics cannot be paired with Engineering ScienceKeep the practical record current alongside theory
Grades 1 to 9; a pass certificate needs four subjects including English, plus SUPW and Community ServiceThe non-academic requirements count too

ISC Mathematics carries an 80-mark theory paper of three hours and 20 marks of project work in each year; our ISC maths tutor page covers it in detail. For a broader view of choosing a stream, read choosing a Class 11 stream.

After Class 10: staying with ISC or moving on

After Class 10 a family can keep their child on ISC or move to CBSE or the UP Board for Classes 11 and 12, often around an entrance plan. Each route asks something different of a tutor. Staying with ISC means carrying the long-answer habit into harder content. Moving to CBSE means learning NCERT's phrasing and competency questions quickly. Moving to the UP Board means reading syllabus and question terms that the board publishes in Hindi, so a student used to English-only science needs the paired vocabulary early. Whichever way, the first term after the switch is the time for extra hours, not the board year. Students aiming at engineering or medicine can read our JEE and NEET pages for Agra.

A Class 10 ICSE week with a tutor

One way to spread two or three tutor sessions across an ICSE week
SessionMain workWhat the student keeps afterwards
Maths, early in the weekLast school test corrected, one new topic, one timed questionAn error list with the right method written beside each mistake
Science, midweekThe weakest of physics, chemistry or biology; diagrams and definitions checkedTwo labelled diagrams redrawn from memory
Writing, at the weekendOne long English, history or geography answer written to time and markedA model paragraph and three keywords to reuse

Two sessions are enough for many students; the third makes sense in the months before the papers or when one subject has slipped badly. Whatever the number, keep the project list on the same sheet as the timetable so internal work never surprises anyone.

How ICSE tutors reach six Agra localities

  • Khandari, Central Agra and Cantt: apartments sit among houses and shops along the highway; tell the guard when the tutor is due and keep clear of the crossing in the late afternoon.
  • Sadar Bazaar, same zone: near Agra Cantt station, with a market that fills in the evening; homes inside cantonment areas may check visitors, so share the tutor's name beforehand.
  • Rajpur Chungi, South Agra: Shamshabad Road is crowded at peak hours and parking near the market is tight; ask the tutor to arrive a little before or after.
  • Fatehabad Road, same zone: a tutor from the Agra Fort side can use the Yellow Line to the Fatehabad Road station, then an auto; gated buildings note visitor details.
  • Kalindi Vihar, Trans-Yamuna: inner streets can confuse a first-time visitor, so share the block, house number and a park or shop as a landmark.
  • Rambagh, same zone: reached over the bridges or from neighbouring east-bank colonies; avoid office hours on the bridge approaches.

Every locality is listed on the Agra home tutors page, and the Agra home tuition guide covers timing across the city.

Home or online for ICSE and ISC?

Home lessons suit the subjects where the tutor must read every line: ICSE maths working, physics numericals, chemistry equations, and long English or history answers marked in the margin. Online works for a specialist ISC elective whose right tutor lives across the river or in another city, for short weekly checks on recall-heavy chapters, and on the hottest days. One tutor across both formats is often the steadiest arrangement. Our online tutors for Agra page and the home or online comparison go further.

Testing a tutor against the CISCE style

  1. Ask them to mark one of your child's long answers. Do they comment on structure and keywords, or only on facts?
  2. Ask which specimen paper and which Analysis of Pupil Performance they would use this term.
  3. For ISC, ask how they would help settle an elective before the September lock.
  4. Ask how they will track internal assignments and practical records month by month.
  5. Ask the route to your home and what happens on a jammed evening.

We send two or three matched tutors with each fee visible first; the first class is a free demo and switching later is free. Tutors who join go through an ID check. More questions are in the demo class checklist.

ICSE & ISC Home Tutor in Agra (Classes 6–12): common questions

What can an ICSE home tutor in Agra help with?

Mostly with volume and writing. The tutor keeps a wide syllabus moving through revision in rounds, sets timed long answers every week, and tracks internal assignments and practical records. In Classes 11 and 12 the job extends to ISC electives, practicals and project work, so the board year does not start with a backlog.

How are ICSE Class 10 marks divided between the exam and school work?

Under the CISCE regulations, Group I and Group II subjects are marked 80 for the final paper and 20 internal, while the one Group III applied subject is marked 50 and 50. Maths internal marks come from at least two assignments, each assessed by the teacher and an external examiner.

Are the ICSE science subjects examined separately?

Yes. Physics, Chemistry and Biology each have their own two-hour, 80-mark paper and 20 marks of internal practical assessment. Strength in one does not carry the others, so decide whether one tutor can cover all three or whether the weakest subject needs a specialist. Use the council's specimen papers and performance analysis.

When are ISC subjects locked in Class 11?

The ISC regulations allow no subject change after 15 September of the Class 11 registration year, and a Class 12 subject must have been studied in Class 11. If your child is unsure about an elective, test it with a tutor in the first term. Promotion also needs 35% in four subjects including English.

Can my child move from ICSE to CBSE or the UP Board after Class 10?

Yes, families do switch boards for Classes 11 and 12. For CBSE, the work is NCERT phrasing and competency questions. For the UP Board, the syllabus files are in Hindi, so the student needs paired Hindi and English terms early. Use the first term after the switch for extra tutor hours, not the board year.

How do ICSE tutors reach homes in Agra?

We look for tutors who can reach your locality first, then the wider zone. In Khandari or Sadar Bazaar, let the guard or cantonment gate know the tutor's name. On Fatehabad Road, a tutor can use the Yellow Line. Across the river in Kalindi Vihar or Rambagh, avoid office hours on the bridges.

How much does an ICSE or ISC home tutor cost in Agra?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Every tutor sets their own fee, and you see it before the free demo.

How do we try an ICSE tutor in Agra?

Tell us the class, ICSE or ISC subjects, any elective in doubt, your locality with a landmark and your free slots. We send two or three matched tutors with their fees, and the first class is a free demo. Ask the tutor to mark a long answer. If the fit is wrong, switching later is free.
