Now taking on home, online and hybrid tutors · in Amritsar
Which science book will the child on your first Amritsar visit be carrying: a Punjab School Education Board text, an NCERT book or an ICSE title chosen by the school? Ask that before anything else, because chapter order and the wording of answers follow the book, and a tutor planning from the wrong one can teach well and still miss what the school tests. Up to Class 10, families here want one tutor for all three sciences who comes at a fixed hour and spots early which strand is slipping.
No open science requests in Amritsar right now. New family requests appear here as they come in; join now so they can reach you.
The rest of this page covers what each board asks in science, where an after-school science round fits across the city, the habits parents notice and how your profile and free first class can set you apart. Joining is free and your fee is yours to set; leads, credits and earnings are explained in the shared section further down.
Classes 9 and 10 carry the pressure, and the first question is always the board. For Punjab School Education Board students, the board prescribes its own curriculum, courses of study and textbooks, holds public examinations at the Middle, Matriculation and Senior Secondary levels, and publishes on pseb.ac.in the syllabi, a question bank, the structure of its question papers and model test papers. Those four resources are enough to plan a PSEB science year: chapters taken in the board's order, question-bank items set after each one in the board's wording, diagrams and balanced equations practised weekly, and a model test paper written under exam conditions before the Matriculation exam. Explanations may move between Punjabi, Hindi and English, but written answers should be in the language of the child's answer sheet from the start.
CBSE Class 10 science is an 80-mark board paper with 20 school marks, five each for periodic tests, multiple assessment, the portfolio and practical-based enrichment. Chemical Substances and World of Living carry 25 each, Effects of Current 13, Natural Phenomena 12 and Our Environment 5. Its 39 questions run from twenty one-mark items to three five-mark long answers, and by skill half the marks reward knowledge and understanding, 30% application and 20% analysis and evaluation. Three areas are assessed by the school this year rather than on the board paper: motors, generators and electromagnetic induction; evolution; and the periodic arrangement of elements. Class 9 now follows NCERT's new book, Exploration, with matter 27 marks, the world of living 25, motion, force, work and sound 23, and Earth as a system 5, so old notes from a sibling no longer fit.
In the city context, requests often come from homes where Punjabi or Hindi is the everyday language and science vocabulary is the hurdle. ICSE students sit physics, chemistry and biology as three separate papers, which some families split between tutors. Younger CBSE classes using NCERT's Curiosity books in Classes 6 and 7 want activities turned into short written answers and labelled sketches, the base that the later numericals build on.
Science lessons usually happen two or three times a week after school, so pick a zone where the same hour works every time. In North Amritsar, Ranjit Avenue, Basant Avenue and Kashmir Avenue lie close together on lettered blocks, which keeps travel short; ask for the block and nearest block market. South-East Amritsar's East Mohan Nagar, Tarn Taran Road and Sultanwind are neighbours, and many homes open at street level, while New Amritsar's Trust flats need a block and floor and directions from the GT Road service lane.
Central Amritsar's Green Avenue and Dayanand Nagar are calmer inside than the market roads around them, though parking near Lawrence Road and Hall Bazaar is scarce by day. The Majitha Road and Batala Road zone is long, so list only your own stretch of Green Field, Majitha Road, Mohkampura or Verka. In West Amritsar, the railway crossing near Putlighar closes several times a day; a tutor there may prefer students on the same side of the line, with Chheharta further west on the GT Road and Guru Amar Dass Avenue on Ajnala Road.
A strong Amritsar science profile answers the book question for the parent. Name the boards and classes, the languages you explain in, and a one-line method, such as a three-question check at the end of every lesson and a model paper each month from January. Keep localities realistic: a tutor in Kashmir Avenue might cover Basant Avenue and Ranjit Avenue; one in East Mohan Nagar might add Sultanwind and Tarn Taran Road.
At the free demo, ask which book the child uses and plan around it on the spot. Then test each strand briefly: one diagram, one equation, one numerical. Tell the parent which strand needs work first and how you will track it. If the child is struggling with English science terms, show how you would build a short bilingual word list. Parents remember a tutor who looks at the school notebook rather than bringing a fixed lesson.

A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.
You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
Both, with ICSE present as well. Rather than guess, list each board you can teach well. Requests are matched on board and class, so a precise profile reaches more of the right families.
The board's prescribed textbook and syllabus, its question bank and model test papers, all published on pseb.ac.in. Check the current structure of question papers there rather than in forwarded files.
Yes, where it helps understanding. Keep written answers in the language of the child's answer sheet from the start, and say on your profile which languages you teach in.
Motors, generators and electromagnetic induction; evolution; and the periodic arrangement of elements. They are left out of the 2026-27 board paper but return in Class 11, so they still need teaching.
Yes. Turn on online lessons and you can be matched with families anywhere in India who choose them. It also helps on days when the crossing or peak traffic would make you late.
