Now taking on home, online and hybrid tutors · in Mysuru
Ask three Mysuru parents on one street which maths their child is doing and you can hear three answers: the Karnataka SSLC, II PUC with the state CET waiting behind it, or CBSE Class 10. Add ICSE, ISC, the IB Diploma and IGCSE and a maths tutor in this city is really choosing between several different jobs, each with its own textbook, its own way of setting out a full-marks solution and its own bank of past papers. This page is for maths teachers weighing up Mysuru work: which papers families here prepare for, which parts of the city a tutor can realistically cover in an evening, and what tends to get a maths tutor chosen once the free demo is over.
No open maths requests in Mysuru right now. New family requests appear here as they come in; join now so they can reach you.
NXTutors does not post job adverts. A family sends a request naming the class, board, subject and locality, and we put forward two or three tutors whose profiles fit, beginning with those who live nearest. You decide the classes you take, the localities you visit and whether you also teach online, and you set your own fee, which the parent sees before booking the demo. Any real open requests appear in the list on this page; the text here describes the work rather than promising a number of students.
State-syllabus students are a large share of maths tuition in Mysuru homes. KSEAB, which keeps a divisional office in the city, conducts the SSLC, and its 2026-27 blueprint for mathematics sets an 80-mark paper of 38 questions: sixteen of one mark, eight of two, nine of three, four of four and a single five-mark question. The marks are not spread evenly. Triangles carries 9, Pair of Linear Equations and Arithmetic Progressions carry 8 each and Surface Areas and Volumes 7, so a tutor who leaves similarity proofs or two-variable word problems for the final term is working against the paper. Students who do not pass the main sitting in March or April write again in June, which is why some families look for maths help through the summer as well as the school year.
After the SSLC, PU science brings the most demanding maths requests. The II PUC paper is worth 80 marks across thirteen chapters, from Relations and Functions to Probability, and the board lays it out in Parts A to E. Part A is twenty one-mark items, fifteen multiple-choice and five fill-in-the-blanks; Part E holds linear programming, drawn on graph sheet. The generous choice inside Parts B to E tempts students to drop whole chapters, and a careful tutor pushes back, because the Karnataka CET does not share those choices. Under the Karnataka Examinations Authority's 2026 bulletin the CET maths paper had 60 one-mark multiple-choice questions with no negative marking, and the engineering ranking counted CET marks and the qualifying examination in equal proportions. A PU maths tutor therefore teaches board writing and CET speed together, never one at the expense of the other.
CBSE and CISCE students form the other big group. CBSE Class 10 families want algebra secured early, since it carries 20 of the 80 board marks, and Class 12 families want calculus finished in time to revise it. Some of these students also sit JEE Main, whose 2026 Paper 1 set 25 maths questions, twenty with options and five with a numerical answer, with four marks for a right answer and one taken away for a wrong one: the reverse of the CET habit, so a student preparing for both needs the difference drilled. ICSE and ISC students need every step written out, and IB Diploma or IGCSE learners often look for a specialist online. Requests for Classes 5 to 8 usually centre on fractions, negative numbers and the first steps of algebra.
Mysuru's five zones are compact enough for a maths tutor to build a steady evening round inside one or two of them. South-West Mysuru, with Saraswathipuram, Kuvempunagar, Ramakrishnanagar, Dattagalli and Bogadi, is mostly independent houses on plotted layouts tied together by the Outer Ring Road, and the Kuvempunagar bus depot helps if you travel without a vehicle. North-West Mysuru covers Vijayanagar, Hinkal and Hebbal along Hunsur Road and the Ring Road; Vijayanagar addresses run by stage, phase, cross and main road, so collect every part before a first visit. A tutor who lives on the Ring Road can serve both zones without crossing the centre.
North Mysuru, around Mysore Junction in Yadavagiri, adds Gokulam, Vontikoppal and Jayalakshmipuram and suits tutors who arrive by train or city bus. Central and South Mysuru runs from Chamarajapuram and Krishnamurthypuram to Ashokapuram, Chamundipuram and J.P. Nagar, served by the J.P. Nagar bus terminus, with railway crossings that slow traffic at school hours. East Mysuru takes in Bannimantap, Siddhartha Layout and Raghavendra Nagar, and apartment buildings in Siddhartha Layout and Hinkal usually register visitors at the gate. Because Hunsur Road and the station approach fill at office hours, maths slots that begin after the rush are the ones that survive a whole term; for II PUC or ISC students on the far side of the city, online sessions save the ride.
Your profile is read before anyone meets you, so let it do the sorting. List the boards and classes you teach in full, the localities you can reach on time (Kuvempunagar and Dattagalli, say, or Gokulam and Vontikoppal), whether you explain in Kannada as well as English, and whether you take CET or JEE students. One sentence on how you divide a II PUC week between Part E answers and CET drills tells a parent more than a list of qualities.
Use the free demo to show method rather than speed. Take one chapter from the student's own book, find the gap in a few minutes with questions of rising difficulty, teach the fix, and leave a short written plan for the term. Offer only the slot you will really keep, mention an online option for exam weeks, and see how you get paid before agreeing a timetable. A parent can change tutor without paying anything, so it is regular, well-prepared lessons that keep a Mysuru student with you.
Applying, onboarding, building your profile, the ID check and receiving matched requests on the Free plan cost nothing. The Free plan gives you 160 lead credits every month.
Pro, Premium and Featured are optional platform subscriptions: more visibility, AI tools and more lead credits. They are never a fee to apply for a tuition. See tutor plans.
A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.
You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.
Yes. They are different KSEAB papers with different layouts, and a parent with an SSLC child filters on that exact course. If you also teach CBSE or ICSE maths, add those as separate entries rather than writing all boards.
Many prefer one tutor for both, because the 2026 engineering ranking counted CET marks and II PUC marks in equal proportions. Say on your profile that you cover CET maths alongside the board, and read the current pattern in the Karnataka Examinations Authority's bulletin each year.
North Mysuru around Mysore Junction, and Central and South Mysuru with Chamarajapuram and Ashokapuram stations and the J.P. Nagar bus terminus, are the easiest to work by train, bus and auto. In South-West Mysuru the Kuvempunagar bus depot helps. List only the localities you can reach on time.
A short diagnostic on one heavy chapter such as Triangles or linear equations, one corrected answer set out the way the board marks it, and a plan for the rest of the year that gives every chapter its share, including the short ones worth three or four marks.
Yes. Turn off home teaching and you are matched with families who choose online classes, in Mysuru or anywhere in India. Many tutors keep a few home students in their own zone and teach ISC, IB or PU students across the city online.
