Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Two Mysuru children in the same Class 10 can be preparing for quite different maths papers. One writes the Karnataka SSLC, a friend down the road sits CBSE, and a cousin follows ICSE or an international course. Two years on, the split widens: II PUC and the state CET for some, the CBSE Class 12 paper and JEE Main for others. A tutor who is excellent for one of these can be a poor match for the rest. Mysuru's layouts add a second question, because a stage-and-cross address in Vijayanagar is a different trip from a lane in Gokulam. Tell NXTutors the syllabus and the locality; we reply with two or three maths tutors who fit both, every fee is visible before you meet anyone, and the first class is a free demo.
The exam guidance on this page has two named authors. Ajay Vatsyayan covers IB, IGCSE and ISC maths, and Abhinandan Tiwary covers Class 10 maths on CBSE and ICSE. Our first question to any Mysuru family is which body writes the final paper, since that one answer settles the textbook, how a full-marks solution should be laid out, and which past papers are worth a tutor's time.
| Path | Paper set by | Usually leads to | Ask the tutor |
|---|---|---|---|
| State syllabus to Class 10 (SSLC) | KSEAB | I and II PUC in science or commerce | Which blueprint and model papers will you practise from? |
| PU science with maths | KSEAB (II PUC examination) | The Karnataka CET, JEE Main or both | How do you divide a week between Part E problems and CET drills? |
| CBSE, Class 10 and 12 | CBSE | JEE, CET, or a stream without maths | Standard or Basic for my child, and how will calculus be spaced out? |
| ICSE then ISC | CISCE | The same entrance choices as CBSE | Which exam year's ISC syllabus are you teaching? |
| IB Diploma or Cambridge IGCSE | IB; Cambridge | Higher study in India or abroad | Which course, level or tier have you taught in the last two years? |
Karnataka's examining body is the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board. It began in 1966 as the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board, took its present name in 2022, and has its head office in Bengaluru with a divisional office in Mysuru among others. It conducts the SSLC at the end of Class 10 and the II PUC examination at the end of the two PU years.
Its 2026-27 blueprint for SSLC mathematics gives an 80-mark paper of 38 questions: sixteen of one mark, eight of two, nine of three, four of four and a single five-mark question, with internal choices at the higher values. Fourteen chapters share the marks, and grouping them by weight shows a tutor where the year should go:
A tutor for a state-syllabus child should work from the textbook in use this year and from the board's own model papers and question bank, which KSEAB publishes for SSLC students. Ask too about the medium: a child who learned maths in Kannada and now answers in English often needs a few months of both sets of terms side by side. Confirm the current blueprint on kseab.karnataka.gov.in before planning, and see our Karnataka board tutor in Mysuru page for the whole state route.
Second PUC maths is an 80-mark paper over thirteen chapters, running from Relations and Functions to Probability. The board's blueprint for the coming year lays it out in five parts, and each part rewards a different habit:
| Part | What is asked | Marks | Habit to build |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | Twenty one-mark items: fifteen multiple-choice and five fill-in-the-blanks | 20 | Clean recall of definitions and standard results |
| B | Six to answer from nine two-mark questions | 12 | Short, complete working with no skipped line |
| C | Six to answer from nine three-mark questions | 18 | Choosing quickly which six suit you |
| D | Four to answer from seven five-mark questions | 20 | Long calculus and matrix answers set out in order |
| E | One six-mark question from two, and one four-mark question from two; linear programming sits here and is drawn on graph sheet | 10 | A neat, labelled graph with the feasible region shaded |
The choice inside Parts B to E is generous, which tempts students to leave whole chapters out. A tutor should allow that only after checking the CET and JEE syllabi, which do not share the board's choices.
A PU or CBSE student in Mysuru can sit both. The topics overlap heavily; the scoring does not. Under the Karnataka Examinations Authority's 2026 bulletin, the CET maths paper had 60 multiple-choice questions of one mark each with no negative marking, so every question deserves an answer. JEE Main 2026 Paper 1 set 25 maths questions out of 75, twenty with options and five with a numerical answer, and took a mark away for each wrong response while giving four for a right one, so a doubtful guess can cost marks.
One rule ties the CET back to school. For the 2026 engineering ranking, CET marks in physics, chemistry and maths and the qualifying examination counted in equal proportions, so II PUC answers carried as much weight as the entrance paper. A tutor who abandons board writing for speed drills is trading away half the rank. Each year's bulletin is the authority; our KCET guide explains the paper, and the JEE maths topic-wise guide and the JEE home tutor in Mysuru page cover the national test.
For 2026-27 the CBSE Class 10 board paper is 80 marks, with 20 more assessed in school. By unit, algebra leads on 20, geometry follows on 15, trigonometry on 12, statistics and probability on 11 and mensuration on 10, while real numbers and coordinate geometry take 6 apiece. The paper runs in five sections, A to E, the last built on three case studies; calculators are not allowed and π is taken as 22/7 unless the question says otherwise.
Standard and Basic cover the same chapters, but Basic leans far more on remembering and understanding. If maths is possible in Class 11, Standard is the safer choice; the school fixes a deadline for it. From 2026 every Class 10 student sits a compulsory main exam and may take an optional second exam to improve up to three subjects. Our Class 10 maths preparation guide and board-year planner go chapter by chapter and month by month, and the Class 10 maths tutor page shows how we match for that year.
In Class 12 the CBSE paper sets 38 compulsory questions for 80 marks, and calculus alone is worth 35 of them, so it should own a large share of every week from the start of the session. Read the Class 12 calculus and algebra guide and the Class 12 maths tutor page.
Specialists in these four courses are fewer than state-syllabus and CBSE teachers, so name the course in your first message. If nobody close by is free, an online specialist can take the course work.
Mysuru tutors mostly come by two-wheeler, city bus or auto, and much of the city is laid out in stages, blocks, crosses and mains, so a precise address saves the first lesson. Compare tutors by locality on our Mysuru page.
| Locality | Homes | Getting there | Share in advance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gokulam | Independent houses on individual plots along tree-lined streets, with a few apartment buildings | Two-wheeler from Vontikoppal, Yadavagiri or Jayalakshmipuram; autos are easy to find | Your stage, as the 3rd Stage and the older stages are easily confused |
| Yadavagiri | Apartment buildings and independent houses beside Mysore Junction | City bus or auto; a tutor from a town on the Bengaluru, Hassan or Chamarajanagar lines can arrive by train | A class time set a little after a convenient train, not on it |
| Vijayanagar | Mostly independent houses on plotted layouts across four stages, with flats in parts of the 4th Stage | Along Hunsur Road or the Ring Road; easy street parking at most houses | Stage, phase, cross and main road numbers together |
| Hebbal | Residential layouts beside an industrial area | Two-wheeler from Vijayanagar, Hootagalli or Bannimantap | A junction or circle as landmark, and a slot away from shift changes |
| Saraswathipuram | Older independent houses on shaded, wide streets near the centre | Two-wheeler or city bus from Kuvempunagar, Chamarajapuram or the old city | A regular slot clear of the morning and evening rush near Hunsur Road |
| Ramakrishnanagar | Residential layouts around Andolana Circle and its parks | From Kuvempunagar, Dattagalli or Srirampura, or along the Ring Road from the Bogadi side | Andolana Circle as the first landmark, then your cross road |
Dasara events can slow travel across the city, so agree any changed timings for those weeks in advance.
Ask the tutor to teach the chapter your child is on at school this week rather than a prepared favourite, and keep a recent marked test on the table. Then watch for four things:
If the fit is wrong, tell us and the next tutor on your shortlist gives a demo; switching tutor later is free too. The demo class checklist for parents has more.
A tutor at the same table spots a wrong step as it is written, which matters for younger children and for proofs and long calculus answers. Online lessons suit a specialist who lives across the city, an ISC or IB student, or a PU student whose college day ends late; one session of each per week often works well. The home tutor or online tutor article sets out the trade-offs.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own rate, guided by the syllabus and class, their experience with that paper, the trip to your layout at your hour and how many sessions you book. Every shortlisted fee is on screen before the demo, and our Mysuru home tuition fees article explains what to ask.
Five details are enough: the class; the syllabus by its full name (SSLC, II PUC, CBSE Standard or Basic, ICSE, ISC, IB or IGCSE); your locality with stage, cross and a landmark; the days and times you can offer; and a budget. We reply with two or three maths tutors and their fees, and you choose one for a free demo. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID (how we check tutors). If nobody suitable can reach your part of Mysuru at that hour, we suggest an online or mixed plan. NXTutors works from Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online across India; the national maths home tutor page shows how we work elsewhere, and the Mysuru home tuition guide covers every zone.

Yes. We look for tutors who teach from the state textbook your child is using and practise from the model papers and question bank KSEAB publishes. Its 2026-27 SSLC maths blueprint sets 38 questions for 80 marks, with Triangles the heaviest chapter, so confirm the current version on kseab.karnataka.gov.in.
It carries 80 marks over thirteen chapters in five parts. Part A has twenty one-mark items, Parts B, C and D give a choice among two-, three- and five-mark questions, and Part E holds one six-mark and one four-mark question, with linear programming drawn on graph sheet.
In the 2026 CET, maths was 60 one-mark questions with no negative marking, so every question should be attempted. JEE Main deducted a mark for each wrong answer, so unsure guesses are risky. II PUC marks also counted equally with CET marks for the 2026 engineering rank.
We match across the city, from Gokulam, Yadavagiri and Jayalakshmipuram in the north to Vijayanagar and Hebbal in the north-west and the Kuvempunagar and Saraswathipuram layouts in the south-west. If no suitable tutor can reach your home at your hour, we suggest online or mixed sessions.
Choose Standard if maths in Class 11 is at all likely. Both levels examine the same chapters for 80 board marks, but Basic puts much more weight on remembering and understanding. Schools fix a deadline for the choice, so decide early and plan the year around it.
Send the stage, the phase if you live in the 4th Stage, and the cross and main road numbers, with a well-known landmark. Vijayanagar grew in four stages, so the locality name alone is not enough. Most homes are independent houses with parking outside, which suits two-wheeler visits.
Some, though fewer than SSLC, PUC and CBSE tutors, so mention the course in your first message. ISC now has one 80-mark paper with seven compulsory units, and IB students choose Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation. When nobody nearby is free, an online specialist can take on the course.
Tell us the class, board and your area. We share two or three matched tutors, and the first class is a free demo.
