What home tuition costs in Mysuru

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

JEE home tutors by locality in Mysuru

JEE home tutors in Mysuru: one clear job, a slot that holds, and a tutor from your side of the Ring Road

A Mysuru student preparing for JEE is usually juggling a PU college timetable or a CBSE or ISC school day, an entrance syllabus that runs ahead of both, and often a coaching programme on top. The city itself is kind to a weekly tutor in some ways: the Outer Ring Road ties the newer layouts together, and much of the housing is independent homes where a tutor simply rings the bell. It is harder in others, such as the narrow older lanes near the centre and the crowded weeks around Dasara. This page sets out what a home tutor should actually own in a JEE plan, how the year divides between II PUC marks, KCET and the national exam, which evening and weekend slots tend to survive, how tutors reach six localities on the south-west, central and eastern sides, and how to test a tutor in the free demo. For the exam itself, read the national JEE home tutor hub.

What the two JEE papers ask, in brief

JEE (Main) is conducted by the National Testing Agency. Its 2026 information bulletin describes Paper 1 as a computer-based test with mathematics, physics and chemistry carrying 25 questions apiece, 75 in all and 300 marks in total. Inside each subject, 20 questions are multiple choice and 5 need a numerical answer; four marks are added for a correct response and one is taken away for a wrong one in both kinds. The exam runs in two sessions and the better of the two scores is used. Candidates ranked high enough on Paper 1 become eligible for JEE (Advanced), which the IITs set as two compulsory papers in English or Hindi. Patterns move from year to year, so treat jeemain.nta.nic.in and jeeadv.ac.in as the only rulebook and ask any tutor to work from the current documents.

Three exams that share one syllabus: II PUC, KCET and JEE

Many Mysuru science students in the PU stream are not preparing for one exam but for three that lean on the same physics, chemistry and maths. KSEAB, whose divisional offices include one in Mysuru, sets the II PUC board papers. KCET is a separate entrance run by the Karnataka Examinations Authority. As our KCET tutor page for Bengaluru records from the 2026 bulletin, its papers are multiple choice with no negative marking, and the engineering rank draws on CET marks and qualifying examination marks in equal proportion. That last point matters for planning: II PUC marks are not only a school matter for a Karnataka engineering aspirant.

How the three exams pull a Mysuru PCM student in different directions
ExamWhat it rewardsWhat the tutor should guard
II PUC board papersComplete written answers, diagrams and working laid out to the board's blueprintA written answer in most sessions, so the habit survives months of objective practice
KCETWide, accurate coverage of the PU syllabus at speed; no penalty for a wrong answerAttempting every question, and not leaving easy chapters half-revised
JEE (Main) and (Advanced)Depth, multi-step problems and judgement about when to skip under negative markingError logs from timed papers and a firm rule for doubtful questions

The habits even conflict. A student trained for KCET, where a blind guess costs nothing, has to unlearn that reflex before JEE, where it costs a mark. A tutor who names that difference early, and practises both modes on separate days, saves a lot of confusion in the final term. For the state board papers themselves, see our Karnataka Board tutors in Mysuru page.

What a home tutor should own, and what to leave to others

Paying a tutor to repeat what the college lecturer or the coaching faculty taught that morning is the most common waste in JEE tuition. Ask instead which part of the preparation currently has no owner, and give the tutor that.

  • The unfinished pile. Coaching sheets and practice sets leave problems a student could not finish. Someone has to sit with those every week before the next sheet arrives.
  • The mistake register. Every wrong answer in a test, written up with its cause: a concept gap, a misread question, or an arithmetic slip. The pattern in that register shapes the next month.
  • The subject that drags the total. One weak subject usually costs more than the other two together. A tutor focused there beats a tutor spread thinly over all three.
  • The board answer. For a II PUC, CBSE or ISC student, the written board paper still needs full steps, units and labelled diagrams.

For a student without coaching, the tutor also has to set the chapter order and the pace, written down at the start from the NTA syllabus, and arrange a separate series of full timed papers. Our article on coaching or a home tutor for JEE was written for another city, but the reasoning about dividing work carries over to Mysuru unchanged.

Fitting a tutor into a Mysuru week

The research notes for nearly every locality on this page point to the same pressure points: the Ring Road junctions, Highway Circle and the Bannur Road junction at school and office hours, the railway gates near the centre, and the shopping streets in the evening. A slot set inside that rush starts late for a whole year.

Slots that tend to hold for JEE students in Mysuru
SlotPut it towardsWhy it works here
Weekday evening, after the office rushThe heaviest subject at home: physics set-ups or long maths workingRing Road and circle traffic has eased; the tutor arrives on time
Late evening on coaching daysA short online check on that day's doubtsNobody travels; the questions are still fresh
Weekend morningA full timed paper, followed by its reviewFewer office journeys; time for a proper post-mortem
Dasara weeks and the wettest days of the rainsThe usual session, moved online at the usual timeCrowded roads near the parade grounds and the centre stop costing a week

How tutors reach six Mysuru localities

A JEE tutor makes the same journey every week for up to two years, so a short, predictable route matters more than a famous name. Start with tutors from your own side of the city.

Travel notes for JEE tutors in six Mysuru localities
LocalityHow tutors usually arriveWhat helps the first visit
BogadiAlong the Ring Road from Dattagalli, Kuvempunagar, Vijayanagar or Hinkal; several city bus routes serve itSay whether you live inside the Ring Road in Bogadi 2nd Stage or outside it, and name the layout
DattagalliTwo-wheeler from Kuvempunagar, Ramakrishnanagar or BogadiGive the stage and cross road, with Nethaji Circle or a convention hall as the landmark
ChamarajapuramCity bus, or by train to Chamarajapuram station on the Chamarajanagar branch line near Ballal CircleOlder lanes are narrow, so tell the tutor where to park
AshokapuramCity buses from Jayanagar and Chamarajapuram, or Ashokapuram station near J.P. NagarUse the railway gate or the station as the landmark; plan around crossing traffic
BannimantapCity buses from the city bus stand towards Hanumanthanagar, or a two-wheeler from Mandi Mohalla or HebbalName the layout or colony and use Highway Circle; go online in Dasara week
Siddhartha LayoutAlong Bannur Road or the Ring Road from Raghavendra Nagar and the centreMany homes are flats, so register the tutor's name and flat number with the gate in advance

The zone pages go into each side of the city: South-West Mysuru, Central and South Mysuru, East Mysuru, North Mysuru and North-West Mysuru. Every locality appears on our Mysuru tutors page, and the Mysuru home tuition guide walks through the city zone by zone.

Physics, maths and chemistry: home, screen or both?

A workable format for each JEE subject
SubjectFormatReason
PhysicsAt homeStudents go wrong in the diagram and the choice of principle, before any equation; a tutor at the table sees it happen
MathematicsAt home for new work; reviews of timed papers onlineLong working is easier to follow on paper; a finished paper is easy to go through on a shared screen
ChemistryOnline for inorganic and organic recall; home for physical chemistry if numericals are weakRecall checks are short and frequent, which suits a screen
Advanced-level problemsOnline, with a specialist anywhere in IndiaThe nearest tutor is not always the one who teaches at that depth

The trade-offs are set out more fully in our home tutor or online tutor comparison, and the online tutors for Mysuru page explains how to set up a screen lesson for maths and physics.

I PUC, II PUC and a repeat year

I PUC or Class 11

This is where JEE is usually won or lost. Mechanics, the start of calculus and the mole concept all arrive at once, and a student who lets one of them slide spends Class 12 repairing it. Start the mistake register in the first month and keep the board chapters level with coaching.

II PUC or Class 12

New chapters, steady revision of the first year, the practical record, and then full papers before the first JEE session. Because II PUC marks also feed the KCET rank, written board practice belongs in the timetable from the start, not squeezed into the last weeks.

A repeat year

Begin by reading last year's papers for where the marks went. Daytime home sessions avoid the evening rush on the Ring Road and widen the choice of tutor. The 2026 rules set no age limit for Main and allowed at most two Advanced attempts in consecutive years; check the current documents before deciding.

Our topic plans for JEE maths, JEE physics and JEE chemistry are worth sharing with a new tutor, and the JEE physics tutor page goes deeper on that subject. For the board side, see the Mysuru maths, physics and chemistry pages.

Testing a JEE tutor in the free demo

  1. Bring three problems from the latest coaching sheet that your child could not finish. Watch who does the solving: a good tutor finds the exact sticking point and hands the pen back.
  2. Ask how negative marking in JEE should change the attempt plan, and how that differs from KCET.
  3. For a II PUC student, ask how one revision plan can serve the board paper and both entrances.
  4. Ask to see how the tutor would record test errors, and what you will hear about each month.
  5. Check the route: can they reach your home at the same hour every week, with an online fallback for Dasara and heavy rain?

If the fit is wrong, we arrange the next demo, and switching tutor later is free. The demo class checklist for parents has further questions.

JEE tuition fees in Mysuru and how to begin

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. JEE Home Tutor in Mysuru: common questions

What should a JEE home tutor in Mysuru actually do?

Take one job nobody else owns. Usually that is clearing the coaching problems your child could not finish, keeping a register of test mistakes by cause, and lifting the weakest subject. For a II PUC, CBSE or ISC student, the tutor should also keep written board answers in practice every week.

How do II PUC marks, KCET and JEE fit together?

They share one physics, chemistry and maths syllabus but reward different habits. As our Bengaluru KCET page records from the 2026 bulletin, KCET has no negative marking and the engineering rank uses CET and qualifying examination marks equally. JEE penalises wrong answers, so the tutor should practise both modes separately.

When should JEE tuition be scheduled in Mysuru?

A weekday evening after the office rush on the Ring Road and the main circles, a short online check on coaching days, and a weekend morning for a timed paper and its review. Agree at the start that Dasara weeks and the wettest days move online at the usual time.

Which Mysuru localities can your JEE tutors reach?

Tutors teach across the city, including Bogadi and Dattagalli on the Ring Road, Chamarajapuram and Ashokapuram near the branch-line stations, and Bannimantap and Siddhartha Layout on the east side. We start with tutors from your own side of the city. Share your locality, stage or layout and a landmark.

Should JEE physics be taught at home or online?

Physics usually suits home sessions, because students go wrong in the diagram and the choice of principle, which a tutor beside them can see. Maths new work also suits home sessions, with timed-paper reviews online. Chemistry recall checks are short and frequent, so they suit online sessions well.

Can a repeat-year student in Mysuru work with a home tutor?

Yes. Start by reading last year's papers for where marks were lost, then rebuild the weak chapters and sit many timed papers. Daytime sessions avoid the evening rush and widen the choice of tutor. Check the current NTA bulletin and Advanced brochure for eligibility before committing.

How much does a JEE home tutor cost in Mysuru?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee, shown before the free demo; ask whether online hours cost the same.

How do we try a JEE tutor before committing?

Send the class, board, target exams, subjects, college and coaching hours and your locality. You receive two or three matched tutors and take a free demo. Bring unfinished coaching problems and watch who does the solving. If the fit is wrong, we arrange another demo, and switching later is free.
