Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Families who choose CISCE for their child sign up for a great deal of writing. The ICSE in Class 10 is spread over more separate papers than most parents anticipate, with science split into three, and answers in nearly every one of them run to full English paragraphs. In Classes 11 and 12 the ISC trims the number of subjects but deepens each one, and adds practicals and projects that carry real marks. In Mysuru there is a further question at the end of Class 10: stay with ISC, move to CBSE, or join a PU college for the state's I and II PUC. This page explains how the council organises the papers, how a tutor keeps a wide syllabus alive across two years, which ISC rules catch families out, how tutors reach six localities, and how to judge in a free demo whether a tutor marks the way CISCE examiners do. Abhinandan Tiwary's role covers ICSE maths, Aaditya Kashyap's the three sciences, and Ajay Vatsyayan's ISC maths.
Our Mysuru tutors page names the boards students in the city sit: the Karnataka state examinations run by KSEAB, CBSE, CISCE's ICSE and ISC, and in smaller numbers IB or Cambridge IGCSE. We do not publish shares. The contrast that matters for tuition is with the state board. KSEAB's SSLC and II PUC papers follow the state's textbooks and published blueprints; ICSE wants extended English answers almost everywhere, gives each science its own paper, and publishes examiner reports on where candidates slipped. So a tutor with a strong SSLC record should still prove, in the demo, that they mark the way CISCE examiners do.
| Group | What the student takes | Exam : internal | Planning note |
|---|---|---|---|
| I | Compulsory for all: English, a second language, and the combined History, Civics and Geography paper | 80 : 20 | Long written answers; regular timed writing pays off |
| II | Two or three picked from a list that includes Mathematics, Science, Economics, Commercial Studies, Environmental Science and foreign or classical languages | 80 : 20 | Maths and the sciences usually take most tuition time |
| III | A single applied subject; Computer Applications, Art, Physical Education and Robotics and AI are among the options | 50 : 50 | Internal work is worth as much as the exam, so steady projects matter |
Mathematics. The written paper is worth 80. The remaining 20 are internal, earned through two or more assignments that the class teacher and an outside examiner each mark independently. The syllabus mixes commercial arithmetic, for instance banking and shares, with algebra, geometry, trigonometry and statistics, and examiners look for complete working. Help with approach and layout is fair; writing the assignment is not.
Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Three papers of 80 marks, each topped up by 20 internal marks for practical work. A child who enjoys physics may still struggle in biology, so it is worth asking at the start whether a single science tutor is enough or whether the weakest paper deserves its own. CISCE also publishes an Analysis of Pupil Performance for each subject after the exams, listing the errors candidates made most; lessons built around that report and the specimen papers target marks that are actually being lost.
The usual ICSE problem is not difficulty but volume: by the time the last chapters arrive, the first ones have gone cold. A tutor can prevent that by planning the two years as repeated rounds rather than one long march.
| Every session | Every few weeks | Every term |
|---|---|---|
| The student's own attempts marked line by line, one new topic, one answer written against the clock | One session returns to an old chapter in each paper | A full specimen paper per subject, marked to the council's style |
| Diagrams drawn and labelled, not just looked at | The project and assignment list checked against dates | The examiner report for each subject read for repeated errors |
Our ICSE and ISC maths guide applies the same idea to maths, and the maths home tutors in Mysuru page covers the subject across boards.
Because nearly every ICSE paper is answered in written English, the language affects marks far beyond the English papers themselves. A child who speaks Kannada or another language at home may understand the science perfectly and still lose marks to a vague sentence. Ask the tutor to correct the English of an answer as well as its facts, and to teach the precise terms each subject uses. For the English papers, with their set literature and long answers, see our English home tutors in Mysuru page.
| Rule | Why it matters for tuition |
|---|---|
| English plus three to five electives; six subjects at most | Every extra elective is another subject to support for two years |
| Subjects are fixed from 15 September of the Class 11 registration year | A tutor's view of the first weeks' work should come before that date, not after |
| A subject sat in Class 12 has to have been studied in Class 11 | No late switch into a new elective in the final year |
| Moving up needs 35% in four subjects, English among them, and attendance of 75% | Class 11 school exams are not a rehearsal; weak subjects need help early |
| Practicals are compulsory where they exist; Physics and Engineering Science cannot be combined | Practical files and lab skills deserve planned time |
| Grades from 1 to 9; a pass certificate needs four subjects with English, plus SUPW and Community Service | Non-exam requirements must be finished too |
In ISC Mathematics, the theory paper carries 80 marks and a project the other 20, in Class 11 and again in Class 12; the ISC maths tutor page has more. For the sciences, see the Mysuru physics, chemistry and biology pages, and for Classes 6 to 10 the science home tutors in Mysuru page.
The answer style stays familiar, but each elective goes much deeper and practicals and projects grow. Choose the electives carefully, because the September lock leaves little room to change course.
NCERT books, CBSE sample papers and different theory and practical splits. Maths and science carry over well, but answers become shorter and closer to the textbook. See our CBSE home tutors in Mysuru page.
I and II PUC follow the state's textbooks, and KSEAB sets the II PUC paper from published blueprints. Read the board's notices before choosing, and see our Karnataka Board tutors in Mysuru page.
Whichever way, the summer after Class 10 is the time for a short bridge: the new course's first chapters, its question style, and for science students a calm start on Class 11 physics and maths before any entrance coaching begins. Students aiming at entrance exams can read our JEE and NEET pages for Mysuru, and the stream choice guide helps with subjects.
Families in North Mysuru and North-West Mysuru can start from those zone pages, and the Mysuru home tuition guide covers every zone.
ICSE maths and the sciences reward a tutor who can watch every line being written, which is easiest in person. ISC electives and literature work differently: there are fewer specialists, and the right one may be on the far side of Mysuru or in another state. A common pattern is a nearby tutor for maths at home and a specialist on screen for a single elective, as our online tutors for Mysuru page describes. For maths or science online, insist on a writing tablet or a camera pointed at the notebook, so the tutor can watch the working.
Each request brings two or three matched tutors, every fee is visible before the demo, and a later change of tutor costs nothing. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID (see how we check tutors). The ICSE and ISC board hub explains the board in full.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. What moves an ICSE or ISC fee within that range is mostly the year group, how many papers need help, how close the exams are and how far the tutor travels. See the pricing guide and our post on home tuition fees in Mysuru.
Send us the board (ICSE or ISC), year, papers, area and a nearby landmark, plus the times you can manage; the opening lesson is a free demo. Tutor profiles are open to browse, and teachers can find tuition jobs in Mysuru.
Yes. Send the board, year, papers, your area and the times you can manage. We put forward two or three tutors who can reach you, each with their fee shown up front. Because ISC elective specialists are scarcer, a single elective may work better online, alongside a nearby maths tutor.
Largely the sheer amount. A Class 10 candidate writes all the Group I papers, two or three from Group II and an applied Group III subject, and the sciences count as three 80-mark papers on their own. Answers are extended English. Repeated revision rounds, timed writing and a project calendar ease the load.
The written maths paper is worth 80. The last 20 marks are internal, from two or more assignments that the class teacher and an outside examiner each mark on their own. Consistent effort across the year therefore counts. A tutor may advise on approach and layout, but the student must write the assignment.
Students take English plus three to five electives, six subjects at most. Choices are frozen from 15 September of the Class 11 registration year, and nothing new can be started in Class 12. Moving up requires 35% in four subjects, English included, and 75% attendance, so Class 11 exams count.
Often for the content, because the maths and science chapters overlap a good deal. The differences are in the answers: extended English, three science papers, and marking shaped by specimen papers and examiner reports. In the demo, ask about recent ICSE teaching and watch whether the tutor corrects the sentences too.
That rests on the subjects your child wants and what comes after school. ISC continues the same writing style in more depth, CBSE switches to NCERT and its sample papers, and a PU college prepares for KSEAB's II PUC exam using state textbooks. Settle it before Class 11, since ISC freezes choices in September.
