Biology home tutor in Mysuru: PU or CBSE answers on paper, NEET and CET recall on the answer sheet

Biology in Classes 11 and 12 is a subject of long answers and exact words at the same time. A PU student in Mysuru writes the II PUC paper, where labelled diagrams and complete explanations earn the marks, and may also sit NEET or the Karnataka CET, where one precise fact decides each question. A CBSE or ISC student faces the same split. Add the step from Kannada-medium science to English technical terms, and a capable student can lose marks in both directions. NXTutors asks about the board, the class, the entrance plans and your locality, then sends two or three biology tutors who fit, each fee visible up front. The first class with the tutor you pick is a free demo.

Which biology exams might your child face?

Senior biology exams open to Mysuru students: who sets them, their shape, and what a tutor must train

ISC biology (863)CISCE70 theory marks in Class 12, with 15 practical, 10 project and 5 for the practical fileDetailed diagrams and exact terminology
NEET (UG)NTABiology was 90 of 180 questions in 2026, with negative markingLine-by-line NCERT recall under time

IB; Cambridge or Edexcel IGCSEIB; Cambridge; PearsonBiology SL or HL; IGCSE 0610 or 4BI1 in Grades 9 and 10Data handling and, in the IB, the student's own investigation

Below Class 11, biology sits inside school science; our science home tutor in Mysuru page covers those years.

How is the II PUC biology paper built?

The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board's blueprint for II PUC biology sets 70 marks across thirteen chapters, in four parts:

  • Part A, 20 marks: twenty one-mark items, all compulsory. Exact terms and definitions.
  • Part B, 10 marks: five two-mark answers chosen from seven. Short, precise explanations.
  • Part C, 15 marks: five three-mark answers chosen from seven. Often a diagram plus explanation.
  • Part D, 25 marks: five five-mark answers chosen from ten. Processes set out in order, with labelled figures.

Part D alone is more than a third of the paper, so a tutor should have your child writing at least one full five-mark answer in most sessions and marking it against the board's model answers. The PU department's books come in Kannada-medium and English-medium versions, and the biology book was revised in 2023, so make sure the tutor works from the current edition. The current blueprint is on the board's PU exam portal; our Karnataka board tutor in Mysuru page covers the wider PU route.

NEET, the CET and the courses each one leads to

In Karnataka, which entrance a biology student needs depends on the course. Under the Karnataka Examinations Authority's 2026 bulletin, medical, dental and AYUSH seats went through NEET, but candidates still had to register with the Authority. Veterinary science (B.V.Sc & AH) was ranked on the CET physics, chemistry and biology papers; farm science used all four CET subjects together with the qualifying examination; and B.Sc Nursing used physics, chemistry and biology. The CET biology paper itself had 60 one-mark multiple-choice questions with no negative marking.

For a tutor this means two different answer-sheet habits. On the CET, every question deserves an attempt; on NEET, a wrong answer costs a mark, so an unsure guess needs thought. Read each year's bulletin before fixing the plan; the rules can change. Our NEET home tutor in Mysuru page and the KCET guide go further.

How do the CBSE biology marks fall across Classes 11 and 12?

Each year's CBSE theory paper is out of 70, and the 2026-27 unit weights make a ready timetable. In Class 11, Human Physiology leads with 18; Diversity of Living Organisms and Cell carry 15 each; Plant Physiology 12; and Structural Organisation 10. In Class 12, Genetics and Evolution leads with 20; Reproduction follows with 16; Human Welfare and Biotechnology carry 12 each; and Ecology 10.

Genetics deserves inheritance problems every week from the day it begins, and Human Physiology and Cell repay a quick second pass at the end of Class 11, because both return in Class 12 revision and in NEET. The 30 practical marks each year come from experiments, spotting, the record and a project with viva, so the record should be kept current rather than finished in a rush. ISC students should note the different split: 70 theory, 15 practical, 10 project and 5 for the practical file.

What does NEET biology demand?

The 2026 NEET (UG) bulletin set 180 compulsory multiple-choice questions: 45 in physics, 45 in chemistry and 90 in biology, divided between botany and zoology, for 720 marks. Four marks were given for a right answer and one taken away for a wrong one, and biology scores came first in breaking ties. NTA confirms the pattern each year, with the syllabus notified by the National Medical Commission; check neet.nta.nic.in for the current bulletin. In practice that means NCERT read line by line, including its tables and figure captions, regular timed objective sets, and a log of every mistake from each mock. Read our NCERT-first NEET biology guide and the national NEET home tutor page.

Technical terms and diagrams: the two places biology marks leak

Biology brings in a great many new words, and a student who studied science in Kannada until Class 10 meets many of them twice. A tutor can make that manageable:

  1. Root words first. Common prefixes and suffixes, so an unfamiliar term can be decoded rather than memorised blind.
  2. A personal glossary. The English term, a one-line meaning in the student's own words, and a small sketch, reviewed aloud each week.
  3. Diagram drills. The structures that recur in board papers, such as the flower, the embryo sac, the nephron and the heart, drawn from memory and labelled in correct spelling.
  4. English answers from day one. Discussion can switch to Kannada when a concept is stuck, but every written answer stays in English.

Dividing the final year between the board and an entrance test

School and PU calendars differ, so treat this as a shape rather than a schedule. It assumes a student taking a board paper and NEET or the CET in the same year.

A three-phase plan for final-year biology alongside an entrance test
PhaseBoard sideEntrance side
Teaching monthsReproduction and genetics first, with a long written answer every weekA short objective set at the close of each chapter
Revision monthsFull board papers against the clock, marked against the scheme; record and file up to dateFirst-year physiology and cell biology revised in rounds; a full mock every fortnight
After the board paperNothing newEvery chapter of both years from the textbook, with weekly mocks and an error log

The point is that neither exam waits until the other is over. If your child also attends an entrance course, the home tutor's job is to fill its gaps, not repeat it: correcting written board answers and going through mock results question by question. Our article on coaching, a home tutor or both for NEET sets out the options.

Getting a biology tutor to your door in six Mysuru localities

Mysuru tutors travel by two-wheeler, city bus, auto or, from nearby towns, by train to Mysore Junction. Our Mysuru page lists every locality.

Gokulam
Independent houses on individual plots, with some apartment buildings. Give the stage number; agree a slot clear of school and office peaks on the main road beside the locality.
Yadavagiri
Flats and houses beside Mysore Junction, so a tutor can come by bus, auto or train. Tell the gate the tutor's name if you live in an apartment building.
Hebbal
Residential layouts beside an industrial area, with Hebbal Lake as a landmark. Keep away from shift and office changeover times; evenings and weekends are often easier.
Vijayanagar
A spread-out, four-stage suburb of mostly independent houses. Share the stage, phase, cross and main road numbers; the Hunsur Road and Ring Road junctions are slow at office hours.
Saraswathipuram
Close to the centre, with older independent houses on shaded streets and Kukkarahalli Lake at its edge. Street parking is usually simple.
Kuvempunagar
A large layout maintained by the Mysore Urban Development Authority. Name a park or circle and your cross road; city buses run to the local depot.

Home, online, or one of each?

Senior biology adapts well to online lessons: diagrams can be drawn on a tablet or held up to the camera, and mock analysis suits a shared screen. A tutor at home helps a student who needs someone beside them to stay on task, and lets the tutor check the practical record and file on paper. Because ISC, IB or NEET specialists may live across the city, a weekly mix of one home lesson and one online lesson often works.

Five signs of a good biology demo

  • The tutor checks what your child already knows before explaining.
  • Your child draws and labels something during the class.
  • New terms are made clear, in Kannada if that helps, and written in English.
  • The tutor can say how the II PUC, CBSE or ISC paper is set and how NEET or the CET differs.
  • You hear a plan for revisiting old chapters, not only for finishing new ones.

If the fit is wrong, we arrange a demo with the next tutor on your shortlist, and switching tutor later is free. The demo class checklist for parents has more.

What does a biology home tutor in Mysuru charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Senior biology and NEET preparation fall in that upper part. Tutors set their own fees, and you see each one before the demo; the Mysuru home tuition fees article lists questions to ask.

Your request

Biology Home Tutor in Mysuru: common questions

How much should a Mysuru family budget each hour for II PUC or NEET biology lessons at home?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Senior biology and NEET preparation in Mysuru fall in that upper part. Tutors set their own fees, and you see each one on your shortlist before the free demo.

Once a Mysuru parent sends a biology request, what comes back and how soon does teaching start?

A Mysuru parent who asks for a biology tutor receives two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. Share the class, the board, whether NEET or the CET is planned, weak chapters, your child's easiest language and your locality. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.

How are the 70 marks split across the four parts of the II PUC biology paper for Mysuru students?

For Mysuru students, the KSEAB II PUC biology paper gives 70 marks over thirteen chapters in four parts. Part A has twenty compulsory one-mark items, Part B five two-mark answers chosen from seven, Part C five three-mark answers from seven, and Part D five five-mark answers from ten. Part D is over a third of the paper, so long written answers need weekly practice.

For a Mysuru student aiming at medicine or veterinary science, is it NEET or the Karnataka CET that counts?

For a Mysuru biology student, the course decides: under the 2026 Karnataka Examinations Authority bulletin, medical, dental and AYUSH seats went through NEET, with registration at the Authority. Veterinary science was ranked on the CET physics, chemistry and biology papers, and nursing used the same three. Rules can change, so read the current bulletin before fixing a plan.

Why should a Mysuru biology student guess differently on the CET paper than on NEET?

A Mysuru biology student should attempt every CET question but think before guessing on NEET, because the two papers mark wrong answers differently. In 2026 the CET biology paper had 60 one-mark questions with no negative marking. NEET had 90 biology questions out of 180, with one mark taken away for each wrong answer.

Which CBSE Class 11 and 12 biology units should a Mysuru student give the most hours to?

A Mysuru student taking CBSE biology should give the most hours to Human Physiology in Class 11 and Genetics and Evolution in Class 12. Human Physiology carries 18 of 70 theory marks, with Diversity of Living Organisms and Cell at 15 each; Genetics and Evolution carries 20 and Reproduction 16. The 30 practical marks come from experiments, spotting, the record and a project.

My Mysuru child learnt science in Kannada up to Class 10; how can a biology tutor close the English-term gap?

A Mysuru biology tutor can bridge the move from Kannada-medium science by teaching root words, building a personal glossary and explaining in Kannada when a concept is stuck. Every written answer still stays in English. The PU textbooks come in Kannada-medium and English-medium versions, which helps with the switch, and diagram drills fix the spelling of labels.

What makes biology tutor visits to a Hebbal home in Mysuru run smoothly?

For biology lessons at a Hebbal home in Mysuru, give a junction or circle as a landmark with the house number, since the layouts are large. Roads beside the industrial area are slowest at shift and office changeover times, so evening or weekend slots are often easier. A tutor living in Vijayanagar or Hootagalli has a short ride.

Can senior biology in Mysuru be taught over a screen as well as at the desk at home?

Senior biology in Mysuru adapts well to online lessons, because diagrams can be drawn on a tablet or held up to the camera and mock analysis suits a shared screen. A tutor at home helps a student who needs someone beside them and can check the practical record on paper. Since ISC or NEET specialists may live across the city, one home and one online lesson a week often works.

What should a Mysuru parent watch for during a first biology class to judge the tutor?

During a first biology class in Mysuru, watch whether the tutor checks what your child already knows before explaining, and whether your child draws and labels something. New terms should be made clear, in Kannada if that helps, and written in English. The tutor should explain how the board paper differs from NEET or the CET and how old chapters get revisited.

How can a Mysuru student split the final biology year between the PU board paper and an entrance test?

A Mysuru student facing the board biology paper and NEET or the CET in one year should run both side by side rather than one after the other. During teaching months, reproduction and genetics come first with a long written answer weekly, plus a short objective set per chapter. After the board paper, every chapter of both years is revised with weekly mocks and an error log.
