Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

Somewhere between Class 6 and Class 10, science stops being a story about plants and magnets and becomes three subjects with equations, numericals and labelled diagrams. In Mysuru children meet that shift through different books: the Karnataka state textbooks leading to the SSLC, NCERT for CBSE, or the texts an ICSE school chooses. A science tutor needs to teach from the book your child actually carries, arrive at the same after-school hour each week, and train exam-style answers well before Class 10. NXTutors shortlists two or three science tutors who can do that, shows each fee before you meet, and makes the first class a free demo.
Aaditya Kashyap writes the CBSE and ICSE guidance on this page. The board decides almost everything a tutor does: the chapter order, how many marks a diagram earns, and whether science is one paper or three.
| Board | Shape of the Class 10 exam | Tutor should practise from |
|---|---|---|
| Karnataka state syllabus (SSLC, set by KSEAB) | One 80-mark science paper of 38 questions over 13 chapters | The state textbook, the board's blueprint, model papers and question bank |
| CBSE | One 80-mark board paper of 39 questions, plus 20 marks in school | NCERT, CBSE sample papers and marking schemes on cbseacademic |
| ICSE (CISCE) | Physics, Chemistry and Biology as three separate papers, each with internal marks | The school's chosen books and CISCE specimen papers |
Up to Class 10, a single tutor for all three sciences usually works well, because one person sees when a weak physics numerical is really an arithmetic problem. Our national science home tutor page explains the approach.
The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board conducts the SSLC, and holds a further sitting for students who do not pass the main examination. Its 2026-27 blueprint gives science an 80-mark paper with the same question mix as maths: sixteen one-mark items, eight of two marks, nine of three, four of four and one of five. Thirteen chapters are covered, from Chemical Reactions and Equations at the start of the book to Our Environment at the end. Because the board revises its blueprints, the version on kseab.karnataka.gov.in is the one to plan from, and we do not repeat chapter weights here.
Three checks matter more than any pattern:
The Karnataka board tutor in Mysuru page covers the state route from Class 9 to II PUC.
Whether you book two sessions a week or three, the work should fall into a pattern your child can predict:
| Session | Main job | Ends with |
|---|---|---|
| First | Re-teach the week's school chapter where it went wrong, using the child's own notebook | One labelled diagram drawn from memory |
| Second | Numericals and equations: circuits, lenses, balancing and naming compounds | Three problems written with units on every line |
| Third (if booked) | Board-style answers on an older chapter, marked against the scheme | A short list of errors to fix before next week |
Ask at the demo how the tutor would arrange your child's week; a clear answer is a good sign.
The board paper carries 80 marks. The school adds 20, five each for periodic tests, multiple assessment, the portfolio and practical-based subject enrichment. By branch, biology accounts for 30 board marks while chemistry and physics take 25 each. By unit:
Thirty-nine questions make up the 2026-27 sample paper: twenty of one mark (multiple-choice and assertion–reason), six of two, seven of three, three four-mark questions built on a case or source, and three long answers of five. Half the paper tests knowledge and understanding, 30% application and 20% analysis and evaluation. The CBSE Class 10 science notes work through each chapter, and our Class 10 science tutor page shows how a board year is mapped out.
For 2026-27 three areas are assessed by the school rather than in the board paper: the electric motor, electromagnetic induction and the generator; evolution; and how elements are arranged in the periodic table. They still deserve proper teaching, since internal marks and Class 11 depend on them. The curriculum also lists 14 experiments that board questions draw on, so the practical file belongs in revision.
Every CBSE Class 10 student takes a compulsory main exam, and eligible students may sit an optional second exam to improve up to three subjects, science among them. Dates are announced by CBSE on cbse.gov.in; prepare as though the main exam is the one that counts. The board-year planner maps the months.
At ICSE Class 10, CISCE examines Physics, Chemistry and Biology as separate papers, each with internal assessment of its own, and schools choose their books within the syllabus. A tutor therefore works from your child's books and CISCE specimen papers rather than an NCERT plan. Precise definitions and fully worked numericals win most ICSE marks. Some families want help with one paper only, usually from Class 9; ICSE science tutors are fewer, so ask early, and consider online lessons to widen the choice.
For a child in Classes 6 to 10, lessons usually fall between school and dinner, so a short, reliable trip for the tutor matters more than anything else. Six localities across the north and west of the city show what to arrange. Browse tutors by area on our Mysuru page.
Vontikoppal, also called Vani Vilas Mohalla or V.V. Mohalla, mixes homes, shops and offices, so send a map pin and the junction nearest to you, and say whether you live in a house or a flat. Jayalakshmipuram sits between Hunsur Road and the north side's older roads and stays busy through the day; a class after the evening rush, or on a weekend, keeps the tutor on time.
Gokulam is mostly independent houses on individual plots; give the stage number, as the 3rd Stage and older stages are easy to mix up. In Vijayanagar, which grew in four stages, the stage, phase, cross and main together are what a tutor needs, and street parking outside most houses makes two-wheeler visits simple.
Hinkal lies where Hunsur Road meets the Ring Road, under the flyover; its apartment buildings usually register visitors, so give the gate the tutor's name and flat number before the demo. Kuvempunagar is a large layout maintained by the Mysore Urban Development Authority, with parks and a city bus depot; name a park or circle, then your cross road.
At the free demo, ask the tutor to teach today's school chapter and see whether these habits appear without prompting. The demo class checklist for parents suggests more. If the first tutor does not suit, the next demo is with someone else on the shortlist, and a later switch is free as well.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fees. The class, the trip to your locality and the number of weekly sessions all shape a quote. You see every fee before the demo; the Mysuru home tuition fees article explains what to ask.
Tell us the class and board, the strand that troubles your child, your locality with a landmark, and the afternoons that suit you. We send two or three science tutors with their fees, and you pick one for a free demo class. Tutors who join go through an ID check; the Verified badge appears only after our team has reviewed the ID (how we check tutors). If nobody suitable can travel to you at that hour, we propose an online or part-online plan. NXTutors works from Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online across India; for the senior years, see our physics, chemistry and biology pages for Mysuru, or the Mysuru home tuition guide.
Science teachers who live in Mysuru and want students nearby can see open requests on the Mysuru tuition jobs page.
For a science home tutor in Mysuru, tell us the class and board, the strand that troubles your child, your locality with a landmark and the afternoons that suit. We send two or three matched science tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each Mysuru science tutor sets their own fee, shaped by the class, the trip and weekly sessions.
A Mysuru family on the Karnataka state syllabus should check that the SSLC science tutor teaches from the state textbook and practises from KSEAB's blueprint, model papers and question bank. The 2026-27 paper has 38 questions for 80 marks over thirteen chapters. Check kseab.karnataka.gov.in for the current blueprint before planning revision.
A Mysuru science tutor can help a child who moved from Kannada to English medium by explaining each new term in both languages for a while. Then the English takes over. Written answers should be in English from the start, with labelled diagrams and units, so the switch does not cost Class 10 marks.
For Mysuru CBSE Class 10 pupils, the science board paper gives biology 30 marks, chemistry 25 and physics 25. By unit, Chemical Substances and World of Living take 25 each, Effects of Current 13, Natural Phenomena 12 and Our Environment 5. The school adds 20 internal marks through tests, assessment, a portfolio and practical work.
For 2026-27, Mysuru CBSE schools assess the electric motor, electromagnetic induction and the generator, evolution, and the periodic arrangement of elements internally rather than in the board paper. Teach them properly, since internal marks and Class 11 rely on them. Spend board revision on examined chapters and the 14 listed experiments.
Yes, ICSE science tutors are available in Mysuru, though fewer than state-syllabus and CBSE tutors, so ask early. ICSE Class 10 science is three papers, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, each with internal marks, and schools choose their textbooks. A suitable tutor works from those books and CISCE specimen papers.
Usually yes, one Mysuru tutor can teach all three sciences up to Class 10 for SSLC and CBSE, where science is a single paper. One person balances the strands and notices when weak arithmetic, not science, is losing marks. For ICSE, some families add a specialist for the weakest paper from Class 9.
For a Mysuru child in Classes 6 to 10, a science tutor at home usually suits after-school lessons, when the trip is short and reliable. Diagrams, units and numericals are easier to watch at the table. If nobody suitable can travel to you at that hour, an online or part-online plan widens the choice, especially for ICSE.
In Kuvempunagar, Mysuru, name a park or circle first, then your block and cross road, because the layout is large and streets look alike. City buses run to the depot for tutors without a vehicle. In Hinkal apartment buildings, give the gate the tutor's name and flat number before the demo.
A Mysuru science tutor should drill ray diagrams with arrows on every ray, circuits in standard symbols and labelled diagrams of the heart, digestive system and nephron. Balanced equations need state symbols when asked, and heredity crosses should be drawn in full. At the demo, see whether these habits appear without prompting.
