Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

In Mysuru a CBSE family works alongside a large state-board system: KSEAB's SSLC at Class 10, PU colleges for the two years after it, a state calendar, and plenty of local advice written with KSEAB papers in mind. A CBSE student needs a tutor who knows the other system: NCERT books, CBSE's sample papers and marking schemes, competency-based questions, and in the senior classes the theory and practical splits that differ from a PUC paper. This page explains what CBSE asks for from Class 6 to Class 12, the 2026-27 changes in Classes 9 and 10, how to keep board marks safe beside JEE or NEET work, how tutors reach six Mysuru localities, and what to test at the free demo. The Class 10 maths notes reflect the role of Abhinandan Tiwary, who teaches Class 10 CBSE and ICSE maths, and the science notes that of Aaditya Kashyap, who teaches CBSE and ICSE science.
Our Mysuru tutors page lists the boards local students sit: the Karnataka state examinations run by KSEAB, CBSE, CISCE's ICSE and ISC, and in smaller numbers IB or Cambridge IGCSE. We do not publish shares and do not guess them. What matters for tuition is how differently CBSE and the state board build their papers.
| Point | CBSE | KSEAB (SSLC and II PUC) |
|---|---|---|
| Main textbooks | NCERT | The state's own textbooks |
| Where the pattern is published | Sample papers and marking schemes on cbseacademic.nic.in | Blueprints and model papers on the board's own sites |
| Class 10 split in major subjects | 80 marks in the board paper, 20 assessed by the school | Set out in each subject's blueprint |
| Classes 11 and 12 | The school's Classes 11 and 12, with CBSE's Class 12 board exam | I and II PUC, usually in a PU college, with the II PUC exam |
A tutor who has mostly prepared SSLC students knows the chapters but may not drill CBSE's case-based and source-based questions or mark answers the way CBSE's schemes do. Ask which board they have taught most recently. If your child is moving between the two systems, the first weeks should go on the new board's textbook language and answer format. Our Karnataka Board tutors in Mysuru page explains the state papers.
The school sets every paper in these years, which is exactly why gaps slip through unnoticed. Fractions, negative numbers, the first steps of algebra, and the habit of reading a science paragraph closely all get built here, and weaknesses in them tend to surface as a "sudden" problem in Class 9. A tutor at this stage earns their fee by repairing those foundations and by insisting that working is written down, not by racing ahead of the school syllabus. One or two sessions a week, each ending with a few questions the child does alone, is usually enough.
Every Class 9 student now takes one common 80-mark paper in maths and one in science. A student may add an Advanced paper in either, both or neither: 25 marks in one hour, built entirely from higher-order questions on extra content. Those marks stay out of the aggregate, and 50% or more is noted on the marksheet. Choose it only for a subject your child already finds comfortable.
Every Class 10 student sits the first board exam. Those who pass may come back for the second to improve up to three subjects from science, maths, social science and the languages. Plan for the first as the real exam and treat the second as insurance for one subject.
Around half of each secondary paper is competency-focused: case passages, source extracts, data and real-life situations. In the major subjects the board paper carries 80 marks and the school 20, and 33% is needed to pass. The Basic and Standard maths split is ending, with the 2026-27 Class 10 batch the last on the older scheme.
For Class 10 maths, a tutor should work through each chapter from the NCERT explanation to exemplar problems and then to the competency questions in the current sample paper, marking every answer for steps and final form. For science, every diagram should be labelled from memory and every chemical equation balanced in writing, not just recognised. The Class 10 maths preparation plan and Class 10 science notes follow the NCERT order.
| Subject (code) | Theory | Practical or internal | Note for tuition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Physics (042), Chemistry (043), Biology (044) | 70 | 30 | Practical work is a large share; keep the file and experiments moving all year |
| Mathematics (041) or Applied Mathematics (241) | 80 | 20 | A student takes one of the two, never both |
| Accountancy (055), Economics (030), Business Studies (054) | 80 | 20 | Formats and presentation earn marks in accounts |
The Class 12 paper covers the whole Class 12 syllabus, and CBSE has said senior papers will lean further towards application. The design for each year arrives with the sample paper, so check that a tutor is using the current one. Useful reading: Class 12 physics strategies, the organic and inorganic chemistry guide and the calculus and algebra guide.
A senior CBSE student with an entrance goal has one advantage: NCERT is both the school text and the base of the national entrance syllabus, so careful chapter work serves the two at once. The risk lies elsewhere. Months of objective practice wear down the habit of writing a complete, stepwise answer, and coaching never looks at the practical file. A CBSE tutor working alongside coaching should therefore keep a list of NCERT chapters that were rushed, set at least one fully written answer every session, and check the practical record each month. For the entrance side, see JEE home tutors in Mysuru and NEET home tutors in Mysuru.
If your child speaks Kannada or another language at home and writes the paper in English, explanation can happen in whichever language helps, but every written answer should be in clear English with the textbook's terms. Ask for a one-page note each month: chapters covered, test marks, and the mistakes that keep coming back.
The CBSE session starts in April, while state-board schools and PU colleges follow Karnataka's own calendar. That gap is worth remembering when you book a tutor who mostly teaches state-board students: their busiest weeks may not line up with yours. Settle the term plan in April or May, set full sample papers well before the pre-boards, and plan lighter weeks around Dasara, when parts of the city are crowded. Making up those hours before and after is easier than losing them.
| Locality | Zone | Practical note |
|---|---|---|
| Bogadi | South-West Mysuru | Plotted layouts, villas and some apartment buildings; say whether you are inside or outside the Ring Road and give the layout name |
| Krishnamurthypuram | Central and South Mysuru | Busy downtown streets in the evening; agree where the tutor can park and use the underbridge junction as the landmark |
| J.P. Nagar | Central and South Mysuru | Houses and housing colonies along Gorur Road; tell the tutor which applies, and note the bus terminus for anyone coming by bus |
| Chamundipuram | Central and South Mysuru | Independent houses on planned roads; give the road name and nearest circle, as the hills only help with direction |
| Siddhartha Layout | East Mysuru | Many apartment buildings; register the tutor at the gate and avoid the Bannur Road junction at school hours |
| Raghavendra Nagar | East Mysuru | Residential streets with shops and offices on the main roads; a regular evening time agreed in advance suits travelling tutors |
Families in North Mysuru and North-West Mysuru can start from those zone pages. For maths, physics and chemistry, a tutor at the table is usually worth the travel; a senior subject whose right tutor lives across the city can go online, as our online tutors for Mysuru page explains.
The CBSE board hub explains the board in more depth.

Often, since many chapters overlap, but the papers differ. CBSE builds on NCERT and publishes sample papers and marking schemes each year, and about half of a secondary paper is competency-based. Ask which board the tutor has taught recently, and at the demo watch how they mark a CBSE-style answer.
From 2026-27 every Class 9 student takes common 80-mark maths and science papers and may add an Advanced paper of 25 marks and one hour in either or both. It has only higher-order questions; its marks stay outside the aggregate, and 50% or more is noted on the marksheet.
Every student sits the first exam. A student who passes may take the second to improve marks in up to three subjects from science, maths, social science and the languages. Prepare for the first as the real exam, and treat the second as a safety net for one subject.
In the 2026-27 senior curriculum, physics, chemistry and biology carry 70 marks for theory and 30 for practical work. Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, taken as one or the other, carries 80 theory and 20 internal, as do accountancy, economics and business studies. Keep the practical file moving all year.
Often, yes. Coaching trains speed on objective questions, but the board wants complete, stepwise written answers and a practical file. A CBSE tutor who lists rushed NCERT chapters, sets a written answer every session and checks the practical record protects Class 12 marks without clashing with coaching.
