Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

In a city where Palasia and Bhawarkua are full of coaching institutes, English can be the subject that slips quietly down the timetable. It rarely fails dramatically; it just loses a few marks each term on letter formats, unfinished comprehension and literature answers that run short. NXTutors helps Indore families put it back on a steady footing. We ask for the board, class and medium first, then your scheme, colony or sector, and return two or three English tutors whose fees you can see before booking. The first class with the tutor you choose is a free demo. This guide is by the NXTutors Academic Team; for early reading and every board in depth, see our national English home tutor guide.
CBSE's English Language and Literature paper for 2026-27 is out of 80, and the school adds 20 through internal assessment, five of them for listening and speaking. The 80 break down like this:
| Section | Marks | What it asks | How a tutor can rehearse it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reading | 20 | A discursive passage and a case-based factual passage with a chart or data | One unseen passage a week, answered to time |
| Grammar | 10 | Grammar questions | Errors drawn from the student's own writing, not only worksheets |
| Writing | 10 | A formal letter (5) and an analytical paragraph on a map, chart or graph (5) | A format checklist, then one piece written and rewritten each week |
| Literature | 40 | First Flight and Footprints without Feet | Short answers planned in a minute and kept within the word limit |
Literature is half the board paper, so a student who has read every chapter but writes thin answers is leaving the easiest marks behind. The analytical paragraph is the other quiet leak: students describe the chart line by line instead of stating the trend, comparing and concluding.
| Board or course | What it sets | Tutor's priority |
|---|---|---|
| CBSE English Core, Classes 11 and 12 | Class 12: reading 22, creative writing 18, literature 40 from Flamingo and Vistas; internal 20 with listening, speaking and a project | Linking themes across chapters in longer answers |
| ICSE, Class 10 | Two two-hour papers of 80 (language; literature), each with 20 internal marks | A composition of 300 to 350 words, and summary |
| ISC, Class 12 | Two three-hour papers of 80, each with 20 project marks | Directed writing, the proposal and a long composition |
| MP Board | The board's own Class 10 and Class 12 examinations, in Hindi or English medium | Prescribed textbooks, past papers and full written answers |
| Cambridge IGCSE and IB | IGCSE First Language 0500 or Second Language 0510; IB Language A at SL or HL | Analysis of unseen texts; orals; coursework guidance within the rules |
ICSE and ISC students can go question by question in our notes on ICSE Class 10 English and ISC Class 12 English.
Class 10 and Class 12 examinations in Madhya Pradesh's state system are conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Madhya Pradesh, and our description of its English course stays general. Its schools teach in Hindi or English medium from the books the board lays down, and the question paper is the board's own. The useful tutor for an MP Board child therefore plans from that prescribed book and a run of the board's past papers, and treats the official notices, not a coaching handout, as the only word on exam rules and dates.
Mention the medium in your request. A Hindi-medium student usually benefits from a tutor who can explain a grammar point in Hindi first and then move to English practice, and who builds vocabulary from the student's own chapters rather than from long lists.
The middle-school years decide how comfortable a student will be with board English later, and they are easier to fix than Class 10 panic. The work at this stage is grammar taught inside the child's own writing, planning a paragraph before writing it, first attempts at letters and short compositions, and wider reading beyond the textbook. A tutor who asks "why" questions about a story, and expects an answer backed by the text, is already building the literature skill that carries half the Class 10 CBSE paper. Signs that help is needed include the same tense or agreement errors surviving every correction, and a child who avoids reading for pleasure because it feels like effort.
For a Class 11 or 12 student with entrance coaching, English needs to be efficient, not large. One lesson a week can hold its ground if it has a fixed shape:
Share the coaching schedule in your request, so the tutor's slot sits before or after coaching rather than squeezed between. Students whose goal is spoken fluency for interviews rather than marks can read our spoken English guide for students.
The Yellow Line runs along the Super Corridor and through Vijay Nagar to Malviya Nagar Chauraha. The rest of the city is reached by city bus, auto or two-wheeler.
| Zone | Route in | Share with the tutor |
|---|---|---|
| Vijay Nagar & AB Road | Yellow Line: Vijay Nagar Chauraha, Meghdoot Garden, Hira Nagar, MR 10 Road, Super Corridor stations | Scheme, sector and plot number with a map pin |
| Palasia & Central Indore | City bus, auto or two-wheeler; no station open yet | The coaching timetable, and where a two-wheeler can stand |
| Nipania, Bicholi & Ring Road | Metro to Malviya Nagar Chauraha, then auto; otherwise along the Ring Road | A slot either side of the Ring Road junction peaks |
| Bhawarkua, Rajendra Nagar & Rau | City buses along AB Road; Rajendra Nagar and Rau rail stations | A landmark, and the gate name for newer projects |
Scheme No. 74 is an IDA layout of plots and houses known for its parks; the tutor usually comes straight to the door, and Vijay Nagar's metro stations are close. Manorama Ganj has quiet, green lanes near Geeta Bhawan, with buses a short walk away and autos easy to find.
LIG Colony runs in lettered IDA sectors on AB Road between Palasia and Vijay Nagar; give the sector with the house number. In Khajrana, older lanes around the Ganesh temple crowd on festival days and weekends, so fix weekday slots.
Sudama Nagar is mostly independent houses on quieter roads, reached along Annapurna Road. Silicon City, in the Rau area, has fewer tutors living nearby, so expect one from Rajendra Nagar or Bijalpur, or a mix of home and online lessons.
The Vijay Nagar and east Indore guide and the central and south Indore guide cover each side of the city in more depth.
English suits online teaching for older students, since writing can be shared and marked on screen, and a tutor from another zone becomes practical. Two cases favour a tutor at home: a child still learning to read, who needs someone beside them following every word, and a Hindi-medium student building spoken confidence, for whom conversation across a table is easier than on a call. For IGCSE and IB English, online often gives the widest choice of tutors who know the course. Our home or online tutor article goes through the options.
If the fit is wrong, we arrange a demo with the next tutor on the shortlist; switching later is also free. Tutors who join go through an ID check before their profile is marked Verified.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets a rate based on the class and board, experience with that paper, the journey at your time and the lessons per week, and you see it before the demo. Our Indore fees guide has more.
Send the class, board and medium, what concerns you, your locality with its scheme or colony, any coaching hours, times that suit, home or online, and a budget. We send two or three English tutors, you choose one for the free demo, and changing tutor later costs nothing. NXTutors works from Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online across India. The board paper is out of 80: reading 20, grammar 10, writing 10 (a formal letter and an analytical paragraph, five marks each) and literature 40 from First Flight and Footprints without Feet. The school adds 20 internal marks, including five for listening and speaking, taking the total to 100.
Yes. Tell us the board, class and that your child studies in Hindi medium. We look for a tutor who teaches from the board's prescribed textbook, explains a grammar point in Hindi when needed and then moves quickly to English practice, building vocabulary from the child's own chapters.
With a short, fixed routine. One weekly lesson can cover an unseen passage, a timed writing task and one literature answer marked and rewritten, ending with two targets for the next week. Share the coaching schedule so the tutor's slot comes before or after coaching, not squeezed between.
In some areas. The Yellow Line runs along the Super Corridor and through Vijay Nagar to Malviya Nagar Chauraha, so homes near those stations can draw tutors from further along the line. Palasia, the Ring Road and the south-west are reached by bus, auto or two-wheeler for now.
Grammar taught inside the child's own writing, planning a paragraph before writing it, letters and short compositions, and wider reading beyond the textbook. A tutor who asks why a character acted as they did, and expects evidence from the text, is building the literature skill later board papers reward.
For older students, usually yes, because writing can be shared and marked on screen and a tutor from another zone becomes practical. For a child learning to read, or a Hindi-medium student building spoken confidence, a tutor at home tends to work better. IGCSE and IB specialists are often easiest to find online.
