Home Tuition Fees in Indore (2026): Coaching, Home or Both
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. That band applies in every part of Indore, from the IDA schemes around Vijay Nagar to the older lanes of Palasia and the plotted colonies of Rajendra Nagar. Each tutor sets their own fee, and you see it before the free demo class.
Indore has a particular question that many cities do not: Palasia and Bhawarkua are well known for their many coaching institutes, so the first question is often whether a home tutor is needed at all beside coaching. This guide starts there. It asks what a home tutor is for when coaching is already paid for, turns an hourly rate into the cost of four weeks, looks at the boards Indore families follow, explains how the Yellow Line and your locality shape the shortlist, and ends with ways to keep the total sensible.
Already paying for coaching? Decide what the tutor is for
Paying twice for the same syllabus is an easy way for a tuition budget to grow without better results. Coaching sets its own pace for a whole batch; a home tutor works with one student. Before you ask for quotes, write down which of these roles you need, because the role decides the hours, and the hours decide most of the cost.
| Role of the home tutor | What the tutor does | Planning hours a week | Four weeks at ₹800 an hour | Four weeks at ₹2,500 an hour |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| School and board support beside coaching | Covers school chapters, internal assessments and board-style answers that a coaching batch moves past | 2 | ₹6,400 | ₹20,000 |
| Doubt clearing after coaching | Takes the problems the student could not finish in class and works through them one to one | 2 | ₹6,400 | ₹20,000 |
| Main support, with no coaching | Teaches the subject from the start of the session, sets practice and tracks tests | 3 | ₹9,600 | ₹30,000 |
| Two senior science subjects, with no coaching | Separate tutors or one tutor for, say, physics and chemistry in Class 11 or 12 | 4 | ₹12,800 | ₹40,000 |
These are planning examples, not quotes. A student in Class 11 or 12 preparing for JEE or NEET will usually sit toward the upper end of the band, and a specialist for JEE Advanced can charge more than ₹2,500 an hour. If coaching already covers the entrance syllabus, the home tutor's job is usually the first or second row, which keeps the weekly hours low.
What does an hourly rate turn into over four weeks?
Tutors quote by the hour, but families pay by the week or the month. The table below converts the most common patterns into hours for a four-week block and prices them at three points inside the band. The middle column, ₹1,500, is only an illustration.
| Weekly pattern | Hours in four weeks | At ₹800 | At ₹1,500 | At ₹2,500 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Two one-hour classes | 8 | ₹6,400 | ₹12,000 | ₹20,000 |
| Three one-hour classes | 12 | ₹9,600 | ₹18,000 | ₹30,000 |
| Two classes of an hour and a half | 12 | ₹9,600 | ₹18,000 | ₹30,000 |
| Four one-hour classes | 16 | ₹12,800 | ₹24,000 | ₹40,000 |
Two patterns with the same hours can suit different students. Three shorter classes keep a younger child in a steady routine; two longer ones suit a senior student working through long numerical problems, and they also halve the number of trips the tutor makes across the city. A calendar month runs slightly longer than four weeks, so add a little when you turn these figures into a monthly budget.
Which board is your child on?
The board changes what the tutor must know more than it changes the rate. Class, subject and the tutor's experience set most of a quote. Indore families mainly follow one of these:
- CBSE: board-pattern practice matters most in Classes 10 and 12, when the board examinations come round. Our CBSE Class 10 maths preparation guide shows what that practice looks like.
- ICSE and ISC: the council's own syllabus and papers, so a tutor who teaches ICSE or ISC students regularly is worth asking for.
- IB and IGCSE: programme-specific assessment, which is why these sit toward the upper end of the band; many families mix a local tutor with an online specialist.
- MP Board: the Board of Secondary Education, Madhya Pradesh, the state board that holds the Class 10 and Class 12 examinations. Ask for a tutor who teaches MP Board students regularly, since knowing a board's papers is part of the job.
Does where you live in Indore change the cost?
Location rarely sets a fee by itself. It decides how many tutors can reach you without a long trip, and so how many quotes you get to compare. Two transport facts matter in Indore today. The Yellow Line of the Indore Metro opened its first five stations along the Super Corridor on 31 May 2025, and a second section through MR-10, Hira Nagar, Vijay Nagar and on to Malviya Nagar Chauraha started regular service on 6 September 2026, giving 16 working stations. Stations planned beyond that point, such as Khajrana Square, Bengali Square and Palasia Square, are not open yet. And the old BRTS bus corridor on AB Road has been removed, following a High Court order in February 2025, so AB Road timing is now about ordinary evening traffic.
| Zone | How tutors travel today | Typical homes | Zone guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vijay Nagar & AB Road | Yellow Line stations at Vijay Nagar Chauraha, Meghdoot Garden, Hira Nagar and the Super Corridor, then an auto | IDA schemes with plotted houses, apartment societies, gated townships on the corridor | Vijay Nagar and East Indore guide |
| Nipania, Bicholi & Ring Road | Malviya Nagar Chauraha is the nearest working station; otherwise auto, bus or two-wheeler along the Ring Road | Gated societies and towers in Nipania and Mahalaxmi Nagar; plots in Bicholi Mardana and Pipliyahana | Vijay Nagar and East Indore guide |
| Palasia & Central Indore | City bus, auto or two-wheeler; Palasia Square station is planned, not open | Independent houses, IDA flats, cooperative societies and apartment buildings | Central and South Indore guide |
| Bhawarkua, Rajendra Nagar & Rau | Railway stations at Rajendra Nagar, Rau, Lokmanya Nagar and Saifee Nagar; buses along AB Road | Independent houses, builder floors and newer apartment projects | Central and South Indore guide |
On the newer edges of the city, such as the Super Corridor townships, Bicholi Mardana and Rau, fewer tutors live close by, so more of them travel in. That does not change the band, but it makes a fixed weekly slot and an online option for the second subject more useful.
Four ways Indore families keep the total sensible
- Do not buy the same hour twice. If coaching teaches physics three days a week, a home tutor for the same topics at the same pace adds cost without adding much. Give the tutor a different job: school chapters, board answers or doubts.
- Put the second subject online. Keep the home visit for the subject that needs the most hands-on help and take the other online. Our comparison of home and online tutors helps decide which is which.
- Fix a slot away from the evening rush. AB Road, the Ring Road, MR-10 and the main squares fill up in the evening. A class that starts on time every week wastes fewer paid hours.
- Review at the half-yearly exam. If the gap has closed, drop to one class a week. If it has not, talk to the tutor about the plan before adding hours.
What should we agree before the first paid class?
- The fee per hour and the weekly pattern, written down in one message.
- The notice needed to cancel a class, from your side and the tutor's.
- The rate for any extra classes in the weeks before an exam.
- When you pay: at the start of each month, or once the classes have taken place.
- For coaching students, which topics belong to the tutor and which to coaching.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a home tutor cost in Indore?
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee, shown to you before the free demo.
Does a student who attends coaching still need a home tutor?
Not always. If coaching and school are both going well, extra hours may add little. A home tutor helps most when the student needs board-style answers, school chapters the batch skipped, or one-to-one doubt clearing. Two hours a week for four weeks is eight hours, or ₹6,400 to ₹20,000.
How much should we budget for four weeks of tuition?
Multiply the weekly hours by four, then price the total at both ends of the band. Three one-hour classes a week come to twelve hours, which is ₹9,600 at ₹800 an hour and ₹30,000 at ₹2,500 an hour. A calendar month runs slightly longer, so round up.
Do MP Board students pay less than CBSE or ICSE students?
The board does not set the fee on its own. Class, subject and the tutor's experience matter more, and each tutor sets their own rate. What the board changes is the tutor you need: ask for someone who regularly teaches students of the Board of Secondary Education, Madhya Pradesh.
Does living near a Yellow Line station help?
It can widen the shortlist rather than lower the fee. A home near Vijay Nagar Chauraha, Meghdoot Garden or Malviya Nagar Chauraha can be reached by tutors who ride the metro, so you may get more quotes to compare. Stations such as Palasia Square are planned but not open yet.
