Home Tuition in East and South Hyderabad: Uppal to Attapur

By NXTutors Academic Team 8 min read

East and south Hyderabad hold many long-settled family neighbourhoods: apartment blocks around Uppal and Habsiguda, independent houses on the plotted colonies of Vanasthalipuram and Boduppal, and the dense older streets of Malakpet and Mehdipatnam. Much of it is well served by rail. The Blue Line ends at Nagole, the Red Line ends at LB Nagar, and between them a tutor from Ameerpet, Secunderabad or Kukatpally can reach many homes with one metro ride and a short auto. The south-west is different: Mehdipatnam, Tolichowki and Attapur depend on buses and roads, including the elevated expressway to the airport.

This guide covers three zones: Uppal, Habsiguda and Nacharam; Dilsukhnagar, LB Nagar and Vanasthalipuram; and Mehdipatnam, Tolichowki and Attapur. Each zone has a quick table of homes, arrival and timing for every locality, followed by the points that matter most for a tutor's visit.

Uppal, Habsiguda and Nacharam

The Blue Line's first stage, Nagole to Ameerpet, opened in November 2017, and was extended to HITEC City in March 2019 and to Raidurg in November 2019. From the eastern end, its stations here are Nagole, Uppal and Stadium, then Habsiguda, with Tarnaka next. Nagole, on the Inner Ring Road, is the eastern terminus and sits near the metro's Uppal depot.

LocalityHomesHow tutors arriveTiming tip
UppalApartment blocks, older colony houses and plotsUppal or Stadium station, then an auto from Uppal X RoadsStart a little after the evening rush on the Warangal highway
HabsigudaApartment buildings, some houses on side lanesHabsiguda station, then a walk or short autoMain road busy at school and office hours
NacharamColony houses and newer apartments beside an industrial beltHabsiguda station, then an auto along Nacharam Main RoadAvoid the office rush and factory traffic
Ramanthapur2 and 3 BHK flats, houses, a few builder floorsUppal or Habsiguda station and an auto, or a city busA slightly later evening slot is more reliable
BoduppalMostly independent houses, some villa communitiesUppal or Nagole station, then an auto into the colonySet the class after the evening peak
NagoleApartment buildings and independent housesNagole station, then a short autoBegin once Inner Ring Road traffic eases
  • Landmark for directions: in Uppal, the international cricket stadium is the reference most people give, so mention your side of it when sharing the address.
  • Industrial lanes: Nacharam's industrial area holds small units in fabrication, clothing, rubber and furniture, and Nacharam Main Road is known for footwear shops. Share the colony name, such as Annapurna Colony or Raghavendra Nagar, so the tutor skips the factory lanes.
  • The far east: Boduppal lies between the Nacharam to Mallapur road and the Warangal highway. Where a specialist tutor cannot travel that far, an online tutor fills the gap; the same applies in Ramanthapur for subjects that are hard to find locally, such as IB or IGCSE sciences.

Dilsukhnagar, LB Nagar and Vanasthalipuram

The Red Line opened from Miyapur to Ameerpet on 29 November 2017 and from Ameerpet to LB Nagar on 24 September 2018. Its stations in this zone are Malakpet, New Market, Musarambagh, Dilsukhnagar, Chaitanyapuri and LB Nagar, the southern terminus, with one more stop between Chaitanyapuri and LB Nagar. Kothapet lies along the highway to Vijayawada.

LocalityHomesHow tutors arriveTiming tip
DilsukhnagarMulti-storey apartments and independent housesDilsukhnagar, Chaitanyapuri or LB Nagar station, then a walkEarly evening or weekends, away from the main road peak
LB NagarMostly apartments, older colony housesLB Nagar station, then an auto or a walkAfter the evening rush at the crossroads
KothapetApartments and many family houses around ChaitanyapuriChaitanyapuri station, then a short walkAfter the peak; the market keeps the highway busy
VanasthalipuramIndependent houses on plotted colonies, newer flatsLB Nagar station, then an auto along the highwayA fixed slot outside office hours
SaroornagarHouses, builder floors and apartment buildingsA nearby Red Line station and a short autoLate afternoon or later evening
MalakpetOlder houses, builder floors, apartment buildingsMalakpet metro or MMTS station, then a walkRail beats road; the junction is busy all day
  • Markets and landmarks: the Kothapet fruit market moved here from Jambagh in 1980 and brings heavy traffic to the highway; Saroornagar grew around a lake built in the late sixteenth century; the Hyderabad race course has been at Malakpet since 1886.
  • Mostly doorstep visits: in Vanasthalipuram, Saroornagar and the older parts of Malakpet, many families live in their own houses, so the tutor rings at the door. Apartment buildings may ask for a name at the gate.
  • Nalgonda X Roads in Malakpet is busy through the day, so a tutor coming by metro and walking the last stretch keeps better time than one driving.

Mehdipatnam, Tolichowki and Attapur

The elevated expressway to the airport runs from Mehdipatnam to Aramghar, where it joins NH44, and has been open to traffic since 19 October 2009; it passes through Attapur. Mehdipatnam has a major city bus depot with routes to Secunderabad, Uppal, Gachibowli and beyond, and its nearest MMTS stations are Nampally and Lakdikapool. A six-lane flyover takes off at Tolichowki and runs through Shaikpet towards the IT district. There is no metro in this zone.

LocalityHomesHow tutors arriveTiming tip
MehdipatnamTwo- and three-floor houses in Rethibowli, flats on main roadsCity bus to the depot, then a walk or autoAfter the evening rush at the junction
TolichowkiMostly apartment buildings, many 3 BHK flatsBus from Mehdipatnam or HITEC City, or two-wheelerAfter the evening peak at the crossroads
AttapurApartments, some houses and villa communitiesBus or two-wheeler from Mehdipatnam, or by road from the ORRLater evening; the road under the expressway is busy
RajendranagarHouses, flats, builder floors, new high-rise and villa communitiesTwo-wheeler or bus via Attapur, or the ORR from the westShare an exact pin; colonies are spread out
  • Pillar numbers: in Attapur many addresses are given by the pillar number of the expressway overhead. Send the pillar number with the flat number before the first class.
  • Near the IT district: Tolichowki is close to Gachibowli, Madhapur and Manikonda, and it is also known for its restaurants.
  • Rajendranagar's colonies: much of the mandal is taken up by large institutional campuses, and the homes that matter for tuition are in growing colonies such as Budwel, Kismatpur, Bandlaguda and Sikanderguda. Online classes help where a specialist cannot travel this far.

What should we sort out before the first visit?

  1. Nearest station or bus stop. Name it in your request, whether Nagole, LB Nagar, Chaitanyapuri or the Mehdipatnam depot, so the shortlist starts with tutors who can reach it.
  2. A landmark and a pin. A stadium gate, a market or an expressway pillar saves the tutor a phone call on the first visit.
  3. The gate routine. For apartment buildings, give security or the watchman the tutor's name and timing in advance; houses need nothing more than a bell.
  4. A slot after the peak. Across this side of the city, the Warangal highway, the LB Nagar crossroads and the Mehdipatnam junction are heaviest at office hours, so a class that begins once they ease is the most reliable.

How NXTutors can help

Tell us your locality and colony, the class, board and subject, and we shortlist two or three matched tutors, beginning with those nearest you, then the zone and the city, and online across India. You see each tutor's fee before the demo, the first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free. Start with maths home tutors in Hyderabad, science, physics or chemistry, or see every locality on home tutors across Hyderabad.

For a budget, read the guide to home tuition fees in Hyderabad. Elsewhere in the city, see the West Hyderabad guide, the Central Hyderabad guide and the Secunderabad guide. To decide which subjects can go online, see home and online tutors compared. If you teach and live in the city, see tuition jobs in Hyderabad.

Frequently asked questions

Which metro line serves Uppal and Nagole?

The Blue Line serves Uppal and Nagole: Nagole is its eastern terminus, and Uppal and Stadium stations serve Uppal. A tutor from Ameerpet or HITEC City can come on one line and finish with a short auto; in Uppal, drivers usually start from Uppal X Roads. Mention your side of the cricket stadium when sharing the address.

Is LB Nagar easy for tutors coming from other parts of Hyderabad?

Yes, LB Nagar is easy for tutors to reach, because it is the southern terminus of Hyderabad's Red Line. The line runs through Malakpet and the city centre to Ameerpet and Miyapur, so a tutor from Kukatpally or Ameerpet can come by metro and walk or take an auto. Traffic at the crossroads is heavy at office hours, so start after the rush.

How do tutors reach Mehdipatnam and Attapur without a metro?

Tutors reach Mehdipatnam and Attapur mostly by city bus or two-wheeler, because there is no metro in this part of Hyderabad. Mehdipatnam's large bus depot links it to Secunderabad, Uppal and Gachibowli, and Attapur is reached through Mehdipatnam or by road from the Outer Ring Road. In Attapur, share the expressway pillar number along with the flat number.

Are home tutors available in Vanasthalipuram?

Families in Vanasthalipuram can request a home tutor as usual, and the shortlist starts with tutors nearest the colony before widening to the zone, the city and online. Most homes are independent houses on plotted colonies, so visits are simple doorstep arrivals. Tutors from the city usually ride the Red Line to LB Nagar and take an auto along the highway.

How much does home tuition cost in east and south Hyderabad?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor in east and south Hyderabad sets their own fee, which you see before the free demo.

Is the metro quicker than the road for tutors coming to Malakpet?

For Malakpet, the metro is usually quicker than the road, because Nalgonda X Roads is busy through the day. Malakpet has both a Red Line metro station and an MMTS station, so a tutor can arrive by rail and walk the last stretch. In the older parts of Malakpet, many homes are houses where the tutor rings at the door.
