Home Tuition Fees in Hyderabad (2026): Plan by Subject Load

By NXTutors Academic Team 8 min read

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. In Hyderabad that band covers a tower flat in Gachibowli or Kokapet, an older house off the lanes of Ameerpet or Himayatnagar, a colony home in Sainikpuri or Alwal and a plotted house in Vanasthalipuram. Every tutor sets their own fee, so the band is a guide and your shortlist gives the real figures.

Most fee guides start with the hourly rate. This one starts with the subject load: how many subjects need help, whether one tutor can cover them or each needs its own, and which of them must be taught at home. That load, more than the postcode, decides what a month of tuition costs. The guide then covers home and online, the rail near you, where each stage sits in the band and when to review the plan.

What sets most of a quote in Hyderabad?

Four things explain most of the difference between two quotes for the same child:

  • Class. Primary and middle-school help usually costs less per hour than Classes 11 and 12, where each science subject needs deeper subject knowledge.
  • Board. Families here follow CBSE, ICSE/ISC, IB/IGCSE or the state board. In Telangana, the Board of Secondary Education runs the SSC examination at the end of Class 10, and the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education covers Classes 11 and 12, which students call Intermediate. IB and IGCSE sit toward the upper end of the band.
  • Goal. Keeping up with school work is one thing; JEE or NEET preparation alongside the board syllabus is another, and it sits toward the upper end.
  • The tutor's own experience with that board and class, which each tutor reflects in the fee they set.

Location mainly decides how many tutors can reach you, and so how many quotes you can compare.

How many tutors does one child need?

This is the budgeting question that gets missed. A Class 4 child can often manage with one tutor for all subjects. A Class 12 science student rarely can. The table shows five common arrangements and what a week costs at each end of the band. The hours are planning examples, not quotes.

ArrangementUsually suitsHours a weekA week at ₹800 an hourA week at ₹2,500 an hour
One tutor for all subjectsClasses 1 to 5, homework and reading support3₹2,400₹7,500
One tutor for maths and science togetherClasses 6 to 8 on any board4₹3,200₹10,000
Separate maths and science tutorsClass 10 on CBSE, ICSE or the state SSC syllabus5 (3 maths, 2 science)₹4,000₹12,500
Three subject tutorsClasses 11 and 12 with physics, chemistry and maths6 (2 each)₹4,800₹15,000
Home tutor for one subject, online for anotherAny class where a specialist is hard to find nearby4 (2 at home, 2 online)₹3,200₹10,000

For a month, multiply the weekly figure by four, and add a little for months with a fifth teaching week. The last two rows sit toward the upper end of the band in practice, so plan with the right-hand column in mind. A tutor for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more than ₹2,500 an hour. The NXTutors pricing guide explains the factors class by class.

Which subjects must be taught at home?

Tutors set their own fee in both formats, so the real question is which subject needs a tutor in the room.

Many Hyderabad families end up with a mix: a home tutor for the subject that needs the most hands-on practice and an online tutor for a second subject or a less common board. Our comparison of home and online tutors goes further.

How does your part of Hyderabad shape the shortlist?

Three metro lines and the MMTS suburban rail do much of the work of bringing tutors to you. The Red Line runs from Miyapur through Ameerpet to LB Nagar; the Blue Line runs from Nagole through Ameerpet and HITEC City to Raidurg; the Green Line runs south from Parade Ground through Narayanguda and Sultan Bazaar. A home near one of these can draw tutors from along the whole line.

Three practical points follow for the budget:

  • Towns off the metro, such as Kokapet, Narsingi, Tellapur, Alwal or Bowenpally, depend more on tutors who travel by road. The shortlist may be smaller, which is where an online tutor for one subject widens the choice.
  • Gated towers register visitors, so build the gate into the start time.
  • Office traffic on the old Mumbai Highway, around HITEC City and at junctions such as Uppal X Roads and LB Nagar builds up on weekday evenings, so a fixed slot before or after it keeps classes on time.

Where does each stage tend to sit in the band?

  • Classes 1 to 5: usually the lower part of the band. Regular attendance and patience matter more than subject depth.
  • Classes 6 to 8: lower to middle. The move to algebra and separate sciences is when many families first add a subject tutor.
  • Class 10: middle of the band for CBSE, ICSE and the state SSC syllabus, with more hours as the board exam nears.
  • Classes 11 and 12, including Intermediate: toward the upper end, with a separate tutor for each science subject.
  • IB and IGCSE: toward the upper end at every stage, because the tutor needs to know the programme's assessment style well.
  • JEE and NEET: toward the upper end; specialists for JEE Advanced can charge more.

If you are still deciding on a board or a Class 11 stream, our guide to choosing a board and stream sets out the questions to ask first.

When should the plan be reviewed?

Fixed checkpoints let hours rise and fall with need rather than habit.

CheckpointWhat to look atBudget decision
After the free demoDid the tutor find the gaps and explain clearly?Confirm the tutor and the weekly hours, or try the next name on the shortlist
After four weeksHomework, class tests and the child's own viewKeep, trim or add an hour
Before term or half-yearly examsWhich chapters are still weakA short burst of extra hours on those chapters only
Before the board or final examsPast papers and timingShift hours to the subjects with the most marks to gain
After resultsWhether the goal was metStop, drop to one class a week or set a new goal

Before the first paid class, agree three things with the tutor: how cancellations by either side are handled, whether extra hours before exams are at the same rate, and whether payment is monthly in advance or after classes are held.

How NXTutors can help

Tell us the class, board, subject and your locality, and we shortlist two or three matched tutors, at home where tutors are available near you and online across India. You see each tutor's fee before the demo, so the table above can be filled in with real figures. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free if a subject is not moving. Our demo class checklist for parents lists what to watch at the demo.

Start with maths home tutors in Hyderabad, science, physics or chemistry, or browse locality by locality on home tutors across Hyderabad. If you teach and live in the city, see tuition jobs in Hyderabad.

Frequently asked questions

What is the usual fee for a home tutor in Hyderabad?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own fee, which you see before the free demo class.

Is home tuition dearer in Gachibowli or Jubilee Hills than in LB Nagar?

The band is the same across the city. Class, board, subject and the tutor's experience set most of any fee. Location mainly decides how many tutors can reach you on a regular day, so it changes the number of quotes you can compare more than the band itself.

Does a Class 12 student need three separate tutors?

Often, yes, for physics, chemistry and maths or biology, since each needs depth at that level. Some tutors cover two related subjects well. Price six hours a week at both ends of the band, then decide which subject needs the most time and which could be taken online.

Do state board students pay less than CBSE or ICSE students?

Not by rule. Each tutor sets their own fee, and class and goal matter more than board for CBSE, ICSE and the Telangana state syllabus. IB and IGCSE sit toward the upper end, as do Classes 11 and 12 and JEE or NEET preparation, whichever board the student follows.

We live in Kokapet and few tutors come here. What can we do?

Keep a home tutor for the subject that most needs hands-on practice and take a second subject online, where tutors from anywhere in India are available. Share your gate routine and a fixed weekday slot with the shortlist. Switching tutor later is free if the arrangement does not suit.
