Chemistry home tutor in Hyderabad: board chapters, entrance chapters, and the gap between them

Senior chemistry in Hyderabad usually has two audiences. The board, whether CBSE, ISC or Telangana Intermediate, wants full written reasons and balanced equations; NEET and JEE want fast, exact answers on a syllabus that NTA sets for itself. A chemistry tutor worth hiring knows where those two lists agree and where they part, and plans each week so neither slips. NXTutors shortlists two or three chemistry tutors who teach your child's board and target and can reach your neighbourhood after school or coaching. You see every fee in advance, and your opening class is a free demo.

Where do the board syllabus and the entrance syllabus part ways?

Inherited notes are the usual trap. For 2026-27, CBSE has trimmed its Class 12 chemistry list, but NTA publishes the NEET and JEE (Main) syllabi separately, and material the board has dropped can still appear in an entrance paper. Before cutting anything, a tutor should hold the two lists side by side:

CBSE Class 12 chemistry topics whose status changed for 2026-27, and what an entrance student should do about each
TopicCBSE Class 12, 2026-27For NEET or JEE students
The solid stateRemoved from the syllabusCheck the current NTA syllabus before skipping it
p-block elements, Groups 15 to 18Removed from the syllabusCan still be examined in entrance papers; check NTA's list
Surface chemistry; isolation of elementsTaught, but assessed only in schoolConfirm against NTA's list; do not assume the board's status applies
Polymers; chemistry in everyday lifeTaught, but assessed only in schoolAs above

Intermediate students face the same question with a different board. The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education sets its own chemistry syllabus and scheme, which we do not restate here, and a tutor should compare it with NTA's list chapter by chapter. Much of Class 12 also rests on Class 11 or first-year work, such as the mole concept, equilibrium and the first organic chapters; the Class 11 chemistry tutor page covers that year.

Why does each branch of chemistry need a different way of studying?

CBSE is unusual in giving chemistry marks chapter by chapter, which makes planning easier. The 70 theory marks fall into three branches:

  • Physical, 23 marks: Solutions 7, Electrochemistry 9 and Chemical Kinetics 7. Mostly numerical, so it needs regular problem practice with units carried through. Electrochemistry is the heaviest chapter in the whole paper.
  • Inorganic, 14 marks: The d- and f-Block Elements 7 and Coordination Compounds 7. Trends and exceptions reward steady revision, ideally reasoned out rather than memorised as lists.
  • Organic, 33 marks: Haloalkanes and Haloarenes 6, Alcohols, Phenols and Ethers 6, Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids 8, Amines 6 and Biomolecules 7. Nearly half the paper, built on conversions and mechanisms that need weekly practice from the first month.

A tutor should know which branch your child is losing marks in before teaching anything new; the last two test papers usually show it. Our Class 12 organic and inorganic chemistry guide goes through the ten chapters one at a time.

What does the CBSE Class 12 chemistry theory paper look like?

Paper 043 runs for three hours and carries 70 marks through 33 compulsory questions in Sections A to E, with internal choice in some. Calculators and log tables are not permitted, so numerical answers must be worked by hand. About 40% of the marks reward remembering and understanding; the other 60% ask students to apply, analyse or evaluate, which is why reason-giving answers matter as much as facts. The 2026-27 sample paper keeps the previous session's design. For how a tutor paces the board year, see the Class 12 chemistry tutor page.

How much chemistry do NEET and JEE ask for, and in what style?

Chemistry in the 2026 NEET (UG) and JEE (Main) Paper 1, and what each asks of a student
Exam, 2026Chemistry shareFormat and markingWhat it rewards
NEET (UG)45 of 180 questions, 180 of 720 marksOne pen-and-paper sitting of three hours; four-option questions; +4 and −1Fast, word-perfect NCERT knowledge, especially for inorganic facts and named organic reactions
JEE (Main) Paper 125 of 75 questions: 20 multiple-choice, 5 numerical-valueComputer-based, January and April sessions; +4 and −1 in both sectionsOrganic mechanisms worked through in order, and multi-stage physical chemistry numericals

For both, the sensible order is board depth on a chapter first, then entrance questions on that chapter a few days later, before memory fades. In Telangana Intermediate, BiPC students usually aim at NEET and MPC students at JEE, and both need the NTA list checked against the state one. NTA sets each pattern afresh; the 2027 bulletins are not yet released, so read nta.ac.in first. Further reading: important NEET chemistry chapters, the JEE chemistry guide and the NEET chemistry tutor page.

What might two weeks of chemistry tuition look like for an entrance student?

A fortnight of four sessions for a Class 12 or second-year Intermediate student preparing for NEET or JEE
SessionFocusEnds with
1New organic chapter taught through mechanism, not a list of reactionsA conversion chain written from memory
2Physical chemistry numericals from the current chapter, units on every lineTwo board-style "give reasons" answers, marked on the spot
3Inorganic trends reasoned out from structure, checked against NCERT wordingA timed set of entrance questions on the chapters covered
4Review of the latest coaching or practice test, sorting each lost mark by causeA short list of chapters to revisit before the next test

Between sessions, a short spell redrawing the organic conversion map from memory, then checking it against the book, stops reactions from blurring together. Families comparing routes can read our NEET coaching or home tutor guide.

How can the 30 chemistry practical marks be prepared at home?

Out of 30 practical marks, titration and salt analysis bring 8 apiece, a content-based experiment 6, the project 4, and record plus viva another 4. This session's titration is KMnO4 run against oxalic acid or Mohr's salt (ferrous ammonium sulphate), and each student weighs out and makes up that standard solution. The lab stays at school, yet plenty can be rehearsed at home: turning the weighed mass into a molarity, laying out burette readings and the final result neatly, the order of tests for the anion and cation and why each comes where it does, and likely viva questions, for instance why permanganate acts as its own indicator.

What does your neighbourhood change for an evening chemistry class?

Most senior chemistry sessions start once school or coaching is over, so the evening journey decides a lot. Six localities show the range; compare tutors near you on our Hyderabad page.

North-west and the far west

Kukatpally suits tutors who travel by metro: Kukatpally and KPHB Colony stations on the Red Line, open since November 2017, leave many homes a short walk or auto ride away. Inner-lane houses are doorstep visits; allow extra time around the Kukatpally Y junction. Tellapur, in Sangareddy district on the western edge of the metropolitan region, is almost entirely gated communities and towers. Tutors come by road or by MMTS train to Lingampalli and then an auto; online sessions help for specialist courses.

Central and east

Somajiguda has become a business district, with homes mostly in apartment buildings in the inner lanes. Punjagutta and Khairatabad on the Red Line, and the Necklace Road and Khairatabad MMTS stations, are all close; street parking is tight, so a tutor arriving by train is simpler. Habsiguda, between Tarnaka and Uppal, has its own Blue Line station, so tutors from Secunderabad, Ameerpet or Uppal arrive by metro; tell the watchman the tutor's name and timing.

South-east and west

Dilsukhnagar has a Red Line station opened in September 2018, with Chaitanyapuri and LB Nagar serving its eastern side; the main road is very busy, so many parents choose early-evening or weekend slots. Mehdipatnam is a bus hub with routes to Secunderabad, Uppal and Gachibowli, and the elevated expressway to the airport begins here. Houses in the lanes are doorstep visits; sessions after the evening rush at the junction run more smoothly.

Are ISC, IB and IGCSE chemistry tutors available in Hyderabad?

  • ISC: CISCE examines theory alongside practical and project work, and its markers look for reasoning spelt out fully.
  • IB Diploma: taken at SL or HL, with the course built on two themes, structure and reactivity. A tutor may probe the design of the scientific investigation, but every word and result in it belongs to the student.
  • Cambridge IGCSE: Core and Extended tiers in the sciences. A student switching to Class 11 or first-year Intermediate usually benefits from an early push on the mole, atomic structure and introductory organic chemistry; the tiers are set out in our Cambridge versus Edexcel IGCSE article.

These specialists are fewer than CBSE and state-board tutors, so ask early; if none can travel to you, pair an online specialist with a nearby tutor who checks written work.

What do chemistry home tutors in Hyderabad charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor sets their own rate, which usually rises with the exam in view and their record at that level, and also reflects the evening trip to your locality and the sessions you book each week. Online sessions with the same tutor may cost less. Every fee is visible before the demo.

What is the next step?

Tell us the class or Intermediate year, the board, the exam that matters most, the branch where marks leak, your locality and building, and your free evenings. We send two or three matched chemistry tutors with their fees, and you choose one for a free demo class. If the match is wrong, another demo is arranged, and switching tutor later is free. Where nobody suitable can reach you, we propose online or mixed sessions. NXTutors is based in Sector 66, Gurugram, and teaches online across India; for other cities, start from the national chemistry home tutor page, and physics tutors in Hyderabad cover the other half of most entrance plans.

Chemistry Home Tutor in Hyderabad: common questions

What do chemistry home tutors in Hyderabad charge?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each tutor fixes their own rate, and you compare the shortlisted fees before picking a demo.

Can my child skip the solid state and p-block for NEET or JEE?

Not without checking. CBSE removed the solid state and Groups 15 to 18 of the p-block from its 2026-27 Class 12 syllabus, but NTA sets the NEET and JEE syllabi separately, and dropped board material can still be examined there. Read the current NTA list before cutting anything.

What share of NEET and JEE Main is chemistry?

A quarter of NEET (UG) 2026: 45 questions and 180 marks out of 720. A third of JEE Main 2026 Paper 1: 25 questions, split into 20 with options and 5 with a numerical answer. Right answers earned four marks and wrong ones lost one in both. Confirm the 2027 bulletins.

Which branch carries the most marks in CBSE Class 12 chemistry?

Organic chemistry, with 33 of the 70 theory marks, ahead of physical at 23 and inorganic at 14. The heaviest single chapter is Electrochemistry at 9, and among organic chapters Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids leads at 8. Conversions deserve weekly practice from the start of the year.

Do you have chemistry tutors for Telangana Intermediate?

Yes, for first- and second-year Intermediate, in both the MPC and BiPC groups. The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education publishes its own syllabus and scheme, so the tutor plans from those, then compares each chapter with NTA's entrance list when the student is also preparing for NEET or JEE.

How are the 30 Class 12 chemistry practical marks divided?

Titration earns 8, salt analysis 8, a content-based experiment 6, the project 4, and record plus viva 4. This session the titration is KMnO4 against oxalic acid or Mohr's salt, and each student weighs and prepares that standard solution, so converting the weighed mass into molarity is worth rehearsing.

Can a chemistry tutor reach a gated community in Tellapur?

Yes, although most tutors come by road or take the MMTS train to Lingampalli and finish by auto. Nearly every home is in a gated community, so register the tutor and expect a call from the gate. For specialist courses, an online session each week widens the choice of tutor.

Can you find IB or ISC chemistry tutors in Hyderabad?

Yes, though they are scarcer than CBSE tutors, so ask early. IB chemistry at SL or HL rests on two themes, structure and reactivity, and the scientific investigation is written by the student alone. ISC markers expect reasoning spelt out in full. Online specialists widen the pool when needed.
