What home tuition costs in Hyderabad

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

JEE home tutor in Hyderabad: MPC, CBSE or ISC, one plan, and a tutor who can actually reach you

For many Hyderabad families, JEE preparation starts the day a child picks the MPC group for Intermediate, or maths with physics and chemistry in a CBSE or ISC school. From then on the student is studying for two things at once: a board exam with its own textbooks and style, and an entrance test with its own syllabus and marking. Coaching takes care of part of that. A home tutor is most useful in the space between the two, and in a city spread from Kokapet to LB Nagar, the tutor also has to be someone who can get to you on a weekday. This page deals with both questions. The exam pattern, subject split and coaching-or-tutor comparison are on our national JEE home tutor guide.

The JEE in short

JEE (Main) Paper 1, as the NTA set it out for 2026, is a three-hour test on a computer covering maths, physics and chemistry: 75 questions worth 300 marks, each subject with 20 multiple-choice items and 5 that need a typed numerical answer. Right answers score four; wrong ones, in either kind of question, lose one. The paper was offered in two sessions and in 13 languages. Qualifiers can go on to JEE (Advanced), which the IITs run as two compulsory three-hour papers. Always work from the current bulletin on jeemain.nta.nic.in and the current brochure on jeeadv.ac.in.

Intermediate MPC, CBSE or ISC alongside JEE

Hyderabad's senior students sit one of four broad systems: the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education's two-year course, CBSE, CISCE's ISC, or an international programme such as the IB Diploma. The NTA syllabus sits close to the NCERT books, so the distance between school and JEE is different for each.

Where the gap between school and JEE usually sits
SystemWhere it differs from JEEWhat the tutor does about it
Intermediate MPC (state board)Own textbooks, chapter order and board papers; board answers are written, JEE is objective and timedKeeps a unit-by-unit map against the NTA syllabus, practises both styles, and takes board details only from the board's official site
CBSESame NCERT base; JEE asks for multi-step problems at speedDepth and timed practice rather than new content
ISCMuch overlap, different sequencing and long-form answersPlans JEE practice so it never runs ahead of the school's term
IB Diploma or IGCSE routeTopic coverage and depth can differ considerablyChecks the NTA bulletin's qualifying-examination list first, then builds a gap list

For the board side of each subject, see our Hyderabad pages for maths, physics and chemistry home tutors.

Metro, MMTS and road: how a JEE tutor reaches each zone

Hyderabad has three metro lines (Red from Miyapur to LB Nagar, Blue from Nagole to Raidurg, and the shorter Green from Parade Ground to MG Bus Station) plus the MMTS suburban trains. A specialist living on any line can reach a lot of the city without a car. Where there is no station, a tutor from nearby or an online slot does more of the work.

Fitting a tutor around coaching evenings

A Hyderabad JEE student in coaching typically has three or four evenings already spoken for. The tutor's time should be built around those, never the other way round. Three rules we suggest:

  • Teaching sessions go on free afternoons or weekend mornings. Office traffic near the Financial District, the old Mumbai Highway and the Inner Ring Road builds as offices close, so a home session that starts early ends before it.
  • Doubt sessions go online, on coaching nights. Thirty to forty minutes, after the class, while the sheet is still fresh. No one travels.
  • Test reviews go at the weekend. Every wrong, skipped and slow question from the latest coaching test, sorted by cause.

Take an illustrative second-year MPC student in a Manikonda tower, with coaching on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings and maths as the weak subject. A maths tutor who comes by road along the ORR visits on Saturday and Tuesday afternoons; Wednesday night has a 35-minute online doubt slot; Sunday is a timed paper and its review. The tutor never meets the Financial District's closing-time traffic, and the student never loses a coaching day.

Our comparison of JEE coaching and a home tutor was written for Gurugram, but its reasoning about commute time and who does which job applies here just as well.

Home or online for each JEE subject

Maths rewards a tutor who can see every line, so it is the first subject to keep at home if only one can be. Physics needs the tutor to see how the student starts a problem; home suits the teaching, online suits clearing doubts. Chemistry divides naturally: physical chemistry numericals at the table, inorganic facts and organic mechanisms as short online checks. In the tower zones beyond the metro, such as Kokapet, Narsingi or Tellapur, splitting the subjects this way is often what makes a strong specialist possible at all.

First year, second year and a repeat year

JEE tutoring by stage for Hyderabad students
StageMain riskTutor's response
First-year Intermediate or Class 11Treating it as a warm-up; mechanics, vectors and basic calculus left shakyRegular fundamentals tests, an error log, and the board-versus-NTA chapter map started early
Second-year Intermediate or Class 12Board exams, new chapters and the first JEE session all crowding one yearProtected time for first-year revision; full timed papers before the January session; a few weeks of board-style writing before board exams
Repeat yearRepeating everything at the same depthStart from last year's papers; rebuild only the chapters that cost marks; full-length papers every week

The 2026 bulletin accepted candidates who passed Class XII in 2024 or 2025 or were appearing in 2026, and the Advanced brochure allowed at most two attempts in consecutive years. Check the current documents before deciding on a repeat year. Our topic guides for JEE maths, physics and chemistry help set the chapter order, and the JEE physics tutor page shows what a session looks like.

Demo checklist

  1. Bring three unsolved questions from the coaching sheet or last test.
  2. Note whether the tutor asks what the student tried before explaining anything.
  3. Ask an MPC student's tutor how they will handle board answers and objective practice in the second year.
  4. Ask how the negative mark on numerical questions should change the student's approach.
  5. Agree the route, the day and the online fallback for the days traffic wins.
  6. Ask for a written plan for the next four weeks.

JEE Home Tutor in Hyderabad: common questions

How much does a JEE home tutor cost per hour in Hyderabad?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Each JEE tutor in Hyderabad sets their own fee, visible before the demo, and a long rush-hour trip, say from Secunderabad to Kokapet, can show up in a home quote.

How do I get JEE tutors shortlisted for my child in Hyderabad?

To get JEE tutors shortlisted in Hyderabad, share the class, board or Intermediate group, target exam, subjects, coaching days and your colony. We send two or three matched tutors, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free; bring unsolved coaching-sheet questions to it.

Can a JEE tutor support an Intermediate MPC student in Hyderabad?

Yes, a JEE tutor can support an Intermediate MPC student in Hyderabad by keeping a unit-by-unit map against the NTA syllabus. The map shows which units college has taught, which come later and which need reading beyond the state textbook. Board answers are written and JEE is objective, so both styles need practice.

Which parts of Hyderabad are easiest for a JEE home tutor to reach?

Homes in Hyderabad near the Red, Blue or Green metro lines or an MMTS station, such as Ameerpet, Kukatpally, Secunderabad and Dilsukhnagar, are easiest for a JEE home tutor. Kokapet, Narsingi, Tellapur and Mehdipatnam have no station inside, so a nearby tutor, a weekend session or an online slot works better.

When should JEE tuition fit around coaching evenings in Hyderabad?

JEE tuition in Hyderabad sits well beside coaching when teaching goes on free afternoons or weekend mornings, before office traffic builds. Short online doubt slots of thirty to forty minutes suit coaching nights, while the sheet is fresh. Weekends are for reviewing the latest coaching test, sorting every wrong, skipped and slow question by cause.

Can an IB or IGCSE student in Hyderabad prepare for JEE with a tutor?

An IB or IGCSE student in Hyderabad can prepare for JEE with a tutor, starting from the qualifying-examination list in the current NTA bulletin. The tutor should then compare the course with the NTA syllabus unit by unit, because topic coverage and depth can differ considerably. Expect extra time on units the course skips.

Which JEE subject should be taught at home rather than online in Hyderabad?

If only one JEE subject can be taught at home in Hyderabad, make it maths, because the tutor needs to see every line of working. Physics teaching also suits home, with doubts cleared online. Chemistry divides: physical chemistry numericals at the table, inorganic facts and organic mechanisms as short online checks.

How is JEE Main Paper 1 marked for Hyderabad candidates?

For Hyderabad candidates, as NTA set it out for 2026, JEE Main Paper 1 is a three-hour computer test of 75 questions worth 300 marks. Each of maths, physics and chemistry has 20 multiple-choice and 5 numerical-answer items. A right answer scores four, and a wrong one loses one in either kind; check the current bulletin.

Is a JEE repeat year with a home tutor sensible for a Hyderabad student?

A JEE repeat year with a home tutor can make sense for a Hyderabad student if it starts from last year's papers rather than repeating everything at the same depth. The tutor rebuilds only the chapters that cost marks and sets full-length papers every week. Check eligibility and attempt limits in the current NTA and JEE Advanced documents first.

What are the biggest JEE risks in first-year Intermediate for Hyderabad students?

The biggest JEE risk in first-year Intermediate or Class 11 for Hyderabad students is treating it as a warm-up, leaving mechanics, vectors and basic calculus shaky. A tutor counters this with regular fundamentals tests, an error log and a board-versus-NTA chapter map started early, so the second year is not overloaded.
