Tutors who join go through an ID check. Tell us the class, board and your area: we share two or three matched tutors, each with their fee, and the first class is a free demo, at home or online.
Book a free demo classAcross NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.
Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

For a child in Classes 1 to 5, a good tutor is less a teacher of chapters than a builder of foundations: reading with understanding, confident number sense, neat handwriting and the habit of finishing homework without a fight. In Hyderabad those foundations sit on different boards, in more than one language, and in homes that range from gated towers in the west to family houses in the older colonies. This guide from the NXTutors Academic Team covers when a tutor genuinely helps, what to work on in each class, how the boards differ, how languages fit in, how tutors reach your part of the city, and how to judge a demo with a young child.
Plenty of children in Classes 1 to 5 do well with a parent nearby and a quiet table. A tutor is worth considering when one of these keeps happening:
The last reason is as valid as the others. A steady, patient adult for an hour, two or three times a week, can change how a child feels about school.
| Class | Reading and writing | Numbers | What progress looks like |
|---|---|---|---|
| Class 1 | Letter sounds, blending, simple sentences | Counting, place value to 100, adding small numbers | Reads a short page and copies neatly |
| Class 2 | Reading short stories, writing a few sentences | Addition and subtraction with carrying; simple shapes | Retells a story in their own words |
| Class 3 | Reading for meaning; paragraphs with full stops and capitals | Times tables; multiplication and simple division | Answers questions about a passage without looking back at every line |
| Class 4 | Longer texts; a short composition with a beginning, middle and end | Fractions, measurement, money and time | Solves a two-step word problem alone |
| Class 5 | Summaries; spelling and grammar in their own writing | Decimals, factors and multiples, area and perimeter | Plans and finishes homework without reminders |
For Class 5 maths in particular, the national Class 5 maths guide sets out the topics that Class 6 will assume.
| Board | What shapes the primary years | How a tutor should adapt |
|---|---|---|
| Telangana state board | SCERT Telangana publishes workbooks for Classes 1 to 5 and a body of foundational literacy and numeracy material, including teacher handbooks and assessment papers | Use the same workbooks and language of instruction as the school |
| CBSE | Follow the school's prescribed books and class tests | Ask for the book list and the term's syllabus |
| ICSE | Schools choose their own books up to Class 8 | Teach from the exact publisher and edition |
| IB PYP | Inquiry across subjects for ages 3 to 12, ending with the Exhibition | Support curiosity and reading, not worksheets |
| Cambridge Primary | Usually ages 5 to 11; Checkpoint tests are optional | Check whether the school uses Checkpoint |
More on each: Telangana board, CBSE, ICSE and IB tutors in Hyderabad.
It is tempting to hire someone to get the homework done, and in a tired week that has its uses. But a tutor who only completes worksheets leaves the gap underneath untouched. A better split is roughly half the session on the day's homework, done by the child with the tutor guiding, and half on the skill that keeps causing trouble: reading fluency, times tables, or setting out a word problem. Ask the tutor at the demo how they would divide the hour, and look in the notebook after a fortnight to see whose handwriting fills it.
Hyderabad children often study in English while speaking Telugu, Hindi, Urdu or another language at home, and they take one or two of these as school subjects. A 2014 state order on the examinations website notes that Telangana follows the three-language formula and lists Telugu, Hindi and Urdu among the first languages for the SSC, so the language a child starts in primary school can stay with them to Class 10. If your child finds a language subject hard, say so in the request; some tutors teach English and maths, others can also cover Telugu or Hindi reading and writing. For English alone, see our English home tutors in Hyderabad.
Young children learn in short bursts, so an hour should feel like several small activities rather than one long lesson. A structure that suits most Classes 1 to 5:
Hyderabad runs on more than one calendar: CBSE schools begin in April, and state board schools usually reopen in June after the summer holidays. For a primary child, the best time to start is a few weeks into the new class, once the teacher has set the pattern for homework and you can see where the child is coping and where not. The summer break is also a good window for a short, light programme of reading and number games, especially before Class 1 or after a change of school. Over the festival breaks, keep reading going for ten minutes a day and let the rest of the routine rest.
| Zone | How tutors arrive | After-school tip |
|---|---|---|
| Gachibowli, Kondapur & Madhapur | HITEC City on the Blue Line or Hafizpet on the MMTS, then an auto | Finish before the Kothaguda junctions fill at office hours |
| Kukatpally, Miyapur & Nizampet | JNTU College on the Red Line, then along Nizampet Road | Share a landmark and map pin for the colony |
| Chandanagar, Lingampally & Tellapur | Train to Lingampalli, then an auto or cab | Weekends or a home-and-online mix for the longer trips |
| Ameerpet, Begumpet & Punjagutta | Punjagutta on the Red Line, one stop from the Ameerpet interchange | The colonies behind the main road are quieter for a young child |
| Sainikpuri, Alwal & Trimulgherry | Mostly by road; Ammuguda on the MMTS is nearest | Look first for a tutor in the northern colonies |
| Uppal, Habsiguda & Nacharam | Nagole, the Blue Line's eastern terminus, then an auto | Start after the Inner Ring Road's evening traffic eases |
For most primary children, a tutor in the room works better: they can watch the pencil grip, point at the word being read, and keep a wandering six-year-old at the table. Online lessons can work from about Class 3 or 4 for a focused child, or for one short skill such as reading practice, especially when the right tutor lives across the city. Keep online sessions short, thirty to forty minutes, and stay within earshot.
The first class is free, and switching later is free too. Tutors who join go through an ID check before their profile is marked Verified; stay at home for the demo, and choose a shared room for regular lessons.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Primary lessons usually sit toward the lower end of that range. The number of subjects, sessions per week and the tutor's journey to your locality change the quote, and you see every fee before the demo. The pricing guide and home tuition fees in Hyderabad go into detail.
Kondapur, between HITEC City and Gachibowli, is mainly apartment blocks and gated communities, so tell the gate the tutor's name before the first visit. In Nizampet, many homes are small apartment blocks in colonies where a tutor walks straight to the door. Tellapur, across the line in Sangareddy district, is almost all gated communities and towers.
Behind the junction in Punjagutta, quieter pockets such as Dwarakapuri hold apartments and some houses. Sainikpuri's large plots on numbered, tree-lined roads make a doorstep visit easy, with room to park, and Nagole, at the Blue Line's eastern end, is a mix of apartments and independent houses.
Before Class 1, see nursery and KG tutors; after Class 5, Class 6–8 tutors in Hyderabad. Tell us the class, board, subjects, locality and good days; we suggest two or three tutors with fees shown. Book a free demo, see tutor profiles or browse home tutors in Hyderabad.
Look for patterns rather than one bad week: slow reading or reading without understanding, number facts still counted on fingers by Class 3, nightly homework battles, or repeated notes about incomplete work. A tutor also makes sense when nobody at home is free after school. If none of these apply, a routine may be enough.
Yes, and in the primary years that is usually best. One tutor who handles reading, maths, English and the day's homework gives the child a single routine. Mention any language subject your child finds hard, such as Telugu or Hindi, because not every tutor teaches those. Ask about it during the free demo.
SCERT Telangana publishes workbooks for Classes 1 to 5 and a range of foundational literacy and numeracy material, including teacher handbooks and assessment papers. A tutor should work from the same workbooks and in the same language of instruction as the school, so practice at home matches what the teacher expects.
Partly. Spending about half the session on the day's homework, done by the child, and half on the skill that keeps causing trouble, such as reading fluency or times tables, works better than finishing worksheets. After two weeks, look at the notebook: it should be your child's handwriting, not the tutor's.
Usually from about Class 3 or 4, and only in short sessions of thirty to forty minutes. Younger children do better with a tutor in the room who can watch the pencil and keep them at the table. Online suits a focused child, a single skill like reading practice, or a tutor who lives across the city.
Share your tower and flat number or your colony and house number, a landmark and a map pin. Register the tutor with the gate or visitor app if your building uses one. Stay at home for the demo, choose a shared room, and check that the person matches the profile we sent you.
Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour, with senior classes, IB and IGCSE and entrance preparation toward the upper end. Primary lessons usually sit at the lower end. The number of subjects, sessions per week and travel affect the quote, and every fee is shown before the free demo.
