Primary tutor jobs in Hyderabad (Classes 1 to 5)

One reason Hyderabad parents give for hiring a primary tutor is simply that both of them work late and nobody is free to sit with the child before dinner. That is as valid a reason as slow reading or finger-counting, and it shapes the job: a steady, patient adult for an hour, two or three times a week, close to home and on time.

Open tuition requests in Hyderabad for primary (class 1–5)

No open primary (class 1–5) requests in Hyderabad right now. New family requests appear here as they come in; join now so they can reach you.

NXTutors lets primary tutors join free, set their own fee and list the colonies they can reach. You can teach at home, online or both, though for the youngest children families usually want you at the table. Here is what primary families here ask for, where they are and how to win their trust.

Who asks for primary (class 1–5) tutors in Hyderabad

The usual signs come first: reading aloud that stays slow and halting, or fluent reading without understanding; addition facts still counted on fingers in Class 3; homework that becomes a nightly battle; school-diary notes about incomplete work or untidy notebooks. A move from another city or board is another trigger, and in Hyderabad it brings a particular challenge, because Telugu is compulsory in Classes I to X in every school in the state, whatever the board or medium.

Board shapes materials. On the Telangana state board, SCERT Telangana publishes workbooks for Classes 1 to 5, and a tutor should work from them rather than another board's books. CBSE primary schools use their own book choices within the board's framework. ICSE schools choose books for the early classes and tend to expect a lot in English. IB Primary Years Programme schools work through units of inquiry, and a tutor supports research and reading rather than drilling. Families ask for the term's syllabus to be shared before the demo.

Language support is a frequent add-on. Parents new to the city may ask for a tutor who can help with Telugu reading and writing as well as English and maths, or for a separate short session with a language specialist. Be clear on your profile about which languages you teach at primary level.

Where in Hyderabad the work is

Primary visits are short and frequent, so tutors work most easily with families near their own home. North and east Hyderabad has many independent houses and colonies where a house number and colony name are enough: Uppal, Habsiguda and Nacharam, Dilsukhnagar, LB Nagar and Vanasthalipuram, and Secunderabad, Marredpally and Tarnaka. Chandanagar's colonies are houses and builder floors where a house number is enough. These suit a tutor who wants two or three short visits in an afternoon.

Gated western towers ask more of a visitor. In Gachibowli, Kondapur and Madhapur, and in Manikonda, Narsingi and Kokapet, the security desk or visitor app logs each arrival, so ask the family to register you as a regular. In Sainikpuri, Alwal and Trimulgherry, colony gates near defence areas may check visitors and tutors who already live in the northern colonies are the practical fit. In Attapur, addresses are often given by the pillar number of the elevated expressway.

Online has a smaller but real place. By Classes 4 and 5, a focused child can manage reading discussion, mental maths and feedback on a short composition over video, which helps families in Kokapet or Tellapur, where journeys from the city are long, and families around Mehdipatnam and Tolichowki on evenings when the junctions crowd. Keep sessions short, cameras on and a parent nearby.

What families in Hyderabad expect

  • Work from the school's books: SCERT workbooks for state schools, the school list for CBSE and ICSE, unit material for IB PYP.
  • Teach reading for meaning, not only decoding, with reading aloud in every session.
  • Build number facts and place value with objects before rules.
  • Teach the skill behind homework rather than finishing it for the child.
  • Say clearly whether you can support Telugu, Hindi or Urdu at primary level.
  • Keep a fixed after-school slot and a short weekly note to the parent.
  • Be calm and patient; children who have just moved need settling as much as teaching.

How to get picked

Primary parents in Hyderabad want to know who will sit with their child, how and when. Describe your hour on your profile: what you check in the school diary, how long you teach, how you watch the child start homework alone and how you finish. Add the colonies you can reach on foot or by a short ride and the days you keep free. If you can help with Telugu, put it in your headline.

At the demo, listen to the child read a page and ask what happened in it, then try three sums of rising difficulty. Tell the parent one strength and one gap in plain words, and suggest a four-week plan. The sections below explain leads, credits and how you get paid.

An hour is a common length: a few minutes on the school diary and worksheets, most of the time teaching the skill, then watching the child start homework alone, and a short reading or number game to finish. Shorter sessions suit Class 1.

Joining, leads and pay

Joining is free

Applying, onboarding, building your profile, the ID check and receiving matched requests on the Free plan cost nothing. The Free plan gives you 160 lead credits every month.

Paid plans are optional

Pro, Premium and Featured are optional platform subscriptions: more visibility, AI tools and more lead credits. They are never a fee to apply for a tuition. See tutor plans.

How leads and credits work

A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.

How you get paid

You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

Questions from tutors

Do primary families in Hyderabad want home or online tutors?

Mostly home for Classes 1 to 3. By Classes 4 and 5, some reading discussion or mental maths can move online, but most parents prefer a tutor at the table.

Will I be asked to teach Telugu?

Sometimes. Telugu is compulsory in Classes I to X in every school in the state, and families new to Hyderabad often need help. Only list it if you teach it well.

What material should I use for state-board primary children?

The SCERT Telangana workbooks and the school's own books. Ask for the term's syllabus before the demo.

Can I take students only in my own colony?

Yes. List the areas you want; home requests are matched to the zones you choose, and the closest tutors are shortlisted first.

What if a family asks me to finish homework?

Explain that you will teach the skill behind it and watch the child start, but the child must do the work. Otherwise the school sees work the child cannot yet do.

Do IB PYP families in Hyderabad need tutors?

Some do, for reading stamina, number facts and support with units of inquiry. Never do the child's project; guide the research instead.
