Maths tutor jobs in Hyderabad

"A good SSC maths teacher is not automatically ready for Mathematics IA and IB." That line, from our Telangana board guide, sums up maths tuition in Hyderabad. The state runs one body for Class 10 and another for Intermediate, Telangana's two-year Class 11 and 12 course, and families also follow CBSE, ICSE and ISC, IB and Cambridge IGCSE. Parents hire the tutor who knows their child's exact paper, and they ask that question first.

Who asks for maths tutors in Hyderabad

Class 10 state-board students sit the SSC, conducted by the Directorate of Government Examinations. Since 2022-23 the SSC has six papers, and Mathematics is one paper of 80 written marks with 20 internal marks from the average of four formative assessments across the year. The 2014 reform order behind the current SSC asks for open-ended, application-led questions, says exercise questions are not to be set word for word and that earlier public-paper questions are not to be repeated. A tutor who only drills old questions is preparing for a paper the state says it will not set.

After the SSC, MPC students take two maths papers, Mathematics IA and IB. Under the TGBIE circular for the revised first year from 2026-27, each is 60 theory marks with 15 marks of internal assessment, and revised textbooks come in that year. MEC students take a single Mathematics paper of 80 plus 20 internal on the same syllabus. Most MPC students also prepare for TG EAPCET, whose Engineering paper has 160 one-mark questions, 80 of them maths, in three hours with no negative marking. Half the marks are maths, so maths speed is often the single biggest gain a tutor can deliver.

Beyond the state boards, CBSE Class 10 Standard or Basic and Class 12 maths, ICSE and ISC maths, IB Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation at SL or HL, and IGCSE Core or Extended all bring requests. JEE aspirants usually want one subject from a home tutor beside their coaching. Name the courses you have taught in the last two years and you will be matched more accurately than with a long list.

Where in Hyderabad the work is

Hyderabad's maths requests come from all twelve zones, but the networks decide your reach. The Red Line runs from Miyapur through KPHB Colony and Kukatpally down to LB Nagar; the Blue Line links HITEC City and Raidurg with Ameerpet, Tarnaka and Nagole; the two meet at Ameerpet, and the Blue and Green Lines meet at Parade Ground. A tutor living near Ameerpet can reach Kukatpally, Miyapur and Nizampet, Ameerpet, Begumpet and Punjagutta, and Dilsukhnagar, LB Nagar and Vanasthalipuram without leaving the metro.

The western high-rise belt is different. Gachibowli, Kondapur and Madhapur towers register visitors through an app or desk, often with a call up to the flat first. Manikonda, Narsingi and Kokapet have no metro station, so most tutors drive in via the ORR or Khajaguda Main Road, and families there are advised to mix one home lesson with online sessions. In Chandanagar, Lingampally and Tellapur, the MMTS through Hafizpet and Chandanagar to Lingampalli is often quicker than the highway.

What families in Hyderabad expect

  • Name the exact course: SSC Maths, Inter Maths IA and IB (MPC), MEC Maths, CBSE Standard or Basic, ISC, IB AA or AI, IGCSE.
  • Teach students to apply ideas to unfamiliar questions, as the SSC reform intends, not to memorise answers from guides.
  • Support the formative and internal work honestly; never write notebook answers or project work for the student.
  • For MPC students, combine Intermediate chapters with timed TG EAPCET practice at just over a minute a question.
  • Keep CBSE and ISC students on full working, and IB students on exploration method without drafting it.
  • Read the latest scheme on bse.telangana.gov.in and the TGBIE site before teaching a state-board student.
  • Keep a fixed weekly slot, with an online fallback for days the ORR or Miyapur X Roads jams.

How to get picked

Your profile wins when it matches the way Hyderabad parents describe their need. Write "Inter first year MPC, Maths IA and IB, plus TG EAPCET" or "CBSE Class 10 Standard" rather than "maths, all classes". Add your metro line or MMTS station and the zones you can reach by early evening; a tutor near Parade Ground who lists Secunderabad, Marredpally and Tarnaka and teaches Kokapet online looks dependable.

At the demo, set one question from the student's own syllabus that is not a textbook exercise, and watch how the student reasons. Show the parent where the reasoning stopped and how you would rebuild it. For an MPC student, add a five-question timed set and point out where minutes were lost. Agree the weekly pattern before leaving. How you get paid, and how leads and credits work, is set out below this text.

Joining, leads and pay

Joining is free

Applying, onboarding, building your profile, the ID check and receiving matched requests on the Free plan cost nothing. The Free plan gives you 160 lead credits every month.

Paid plans are optional

Pro, Premium and Featured are optional platform subscriptions: more visibility, AI tools and more lead credits. They are never a fee to apply for a tuition. See tutor plans.

How leads and credits work

A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.

How you get paid

You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

Questions from tutors

Is Inter maths the same as SSC maths?

No. SSC maths is one 80 + 20 paper set by the Directorate of Government Examinations. MPC students take Mathematics IA and IB, each 60 theory plus 15 internal marks in the revised first year from 2026-27, under TGBIE. Different bodies, different skills.

How much maths is in TG EAPCET?

In the Engineering stream, 80 of the 160 one-mark questions are maths, with physics and chemistry at 40 each, in three hours with no negative marking. Confirm the current notification on the official EAPCET site.

Do I need Telugu to teach maths in Hyderabad?

Not for most maths requests. EAPCET shows English with Telugu or English with Urdu on screen, and some state-board students are more comfortable with explanations in Telugu, so say on your profile if you can teach in it.

Which zones suit a maths tutor travelling by metro?

Anything near the Red or Blue Line: Kukatpally and Miyapur, Ameerpet and Begumpet, Secunderabad and Tarnaka, Uppal and Habsiguda, and LB Nagar. Manikonda, Kokapet, Sainikpuri and Mehdipatnam have no metro, so tutors there usually come by road.

Are there IB and IGCSE maths students in Hyderabad?

Yes. International schools teach the IB Diploma and IGCSE, and families ask for Maths AA or AI at SL or HL or IGCSE Core or Extended. Many sit in the western belt, so tutors on the Blue Line to HITEC City can visit, and others teach online.

Can I teach maths only online from Hyderabad?

Yes. Choose online on your profile; students who want an online maths tutor, anywhere in India, can be matched with you. For home requests, local tutors are offered first.
