English tutor jobs in Hyderabad

English gets squeezed in Hyderabad. An Intermediate student spends evenings on physics, chemistry and entrance practice and leaves English to the week before the exam; an SSC student balances it against compulsory Telugu and five other papers. Families usually call an English tutor when that squeeze starts to show in marks, and the good news for tutors is that the fix rarely needs many hours. Once a week, done well, is often enough.

Who asks for english tutors in Hyderabad

For state-board students, English is the third-language paper in the six-paper SSC, worth 80 written marks and 20 formative, the same weight as maths or science. In Intermediate, under the TGBIE circular for the revised first year from 2026-27, English and the second languages carry 80 marks with 20 internal or practical, so English now has a practical component in the first year. Families want a tutor who teaches from the current state textbooks, practises the writing tasks the paper sets and corrects the same few grammar errors before they cost marks again.

CBSE Class 10 English splits 80 board marks into reading 20, writing with grammar 20 and literature 40, plus 20 internal; in Class 12, English Core drops grammar and literature is worth 40 of 80, built from Flamingo and Vistas. ICSE sets separate two-hour language and literature papers of 80 marks each, with internal marks for listening and speaking. ISC sets two three-hour papers of 80 with 20 project marks each and a composition of 400 to 450 words, which favours tutors comfortable with proposals and directed writing.

International families ask for Cambridge IGCSE First Language 0500 or Second Language 0510, or IB Language A with Paper 1, Paper 2 and an individual oral, which call for unseen-text analysis. Hyderabad also has many families who have moved from other states; their children may face a new board, a new school's writing expectations and Telugu all at once, and English support is often the first thing they arrange.

Where in Hyderabad the work is

English suits hybrid work better than most subjects, so you can be selective about home zones. Secunderabad, Marredpally and Tarnaka has mostly houses and apartment buildings with few large gated communities; Parade Ground, where the Blue and Green Lines meet, is the easy arrival point, with a short auto to Marredpally. Khairatabad, Himayatnagar and Abids is well served by the Red and Green Lines, Assembly station and the MMTS at Khairatabad, which matters because parking in its close lanes is scarce and older buildings often have only a watchman.

The western belt sends many relocation cases. In Gachibowli, Kondapur and Madhapur, towers register you through a visitor app or security desk, sometimes with a call up to the flat first; HITEC City and Raidurg on the Blue Line and Hafizpet on the MMTS are the usual arrival points. Manikonda, Narsingi and Kokapet have no metro, and its very tall towers may call up for approval, so a weekend visit with weekday online feedback on written work suits families there.

What families in Hyderabad expect

  • Name the papers you teach: SSC English, Intermediate English, CBSE 10 or 12, ICSE, ISC, IGCSE 0500 or 0510, IB Language A.
  • Teach from the current state textbooks for SSC and Intermediate, and from the prescribed texts for other boards.
  • Prepare first-year Intermediate students for the practical component now attached to English.
  • Mark writing against each board's expectations: CBSE letters and analytical paragraphs, ICSE timed compositions, ISC proposals and directed writing.
  • Return written work with specific corrections the student can act on.
  • Explain a stuck point in the student's comfort language where needed, if you can.
  • Help students new to Hyderabad adjust to longer, more independent writing.

How to get picked

Parents rarely know how to judge an English tutor, so show them. On your profile, describe what a student receives after each piece of writing: a mark against the board's criteria, three specific corrections and one model sentence. Name the boards and, for international courses, the syllabus codes. Add the zones you visit and say that essay feedback can also happen online.

In the demo, give the student ten minutes to write a short answer on a prompt from their own syllabus, then mark it in front of the parent. Explain what a full-mark answer would add and how many weeks it might take. For an Intermediate student, show how one hour a week can keep English from being left to the last minute. Leads, credits and how you get paid are explained below.

Joining, leads and pay

Joining is free

Applying, onboarding, building your profile, the ID check and receiving matched requests on the Free plan cost nothing. The Free plan gives you 160 lead credits every month.

Paid plans are optional

Pro, Premium and Featured are optional platform subscriptions: more visibility, AI tools and more lead credits. They are never a fee to apply for a tuition. See tutor plans.

How leads and credits work

A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.

How you get paid

You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

Questions from tutors

Does Intermediate English have a practical now?

Under the TGBIE circular for the revised first year from 2026-27, English and second languages carry 80 marks plus 20 internal or practical. Follow the board's own scheme for your student's batch.

How important is English in the SSC?

It is a full paper of 80 written and 20 formative marks, the same weight as maths or science. Weak English pulls down the overall grade, which is why families ask for help in Classes 9 and 10.

Do I need to teach Telugu as well?

No, unless you list it. Telugu is compulsory in Classes I to X in every school in the state, and some families ask for help with it separately. If you can teach it, say so on your profile.

Is English tuition in Hyderabad mostly online?

Many arrangements are hybrid: a home session for reading and discussion, and online feedback on written work. Younger children usually do better with home lessons.

What do ISC English students need most?

Long, well-organised compositions of 400 to 450 words, proposals and directed writing, and literature answers that link themes. ISC has two three-hour papers of 80 marks with project work in each.

Which zones send IB and IGCSE English requests?

We do not publish counts. International-school families are often in the western belt, from Gachibowli to Kokapet, and many accept online sessions when a specialist lives further away.
