Science tutor jobs in Hyderabad

In Hyderabad, Class 10 science is two exams, not one, for state-board students. The SSC splits Science into a Physical Science paper and a Biological Science paper, each 90 minutes, sat on different days with separate answer scripts. A weakness in one cannot hide behind strength in the other, and that is exactly the kind of gap families ask a science tutor to close.

Who asks for science tutors in Hyderabad

Under the six-paper SSC, conducted by the Directorate of Government Examinations, Science carries 40 written marks for Physical Science and 40 for Biological Science, with 10 formative marks for each. The formative items include experiments written up in a record, the student's own notebook work, project work and slip tests, and headmasters must verify these marks against the records. A tutor who teaches the experiment and has the student write it up in their own words protects those marks; one who supplies ready answers puts them at risk.

The SSC reform order asks for application-led questions rather than recall, and says exercise questions are not to be set as they are. That shapes the middle-school years too: parents of Class 7 to 9 students want someone who makes a child explain a new situation, not repeat a definition. CBSE families want NCERT-based teaching for the 80-mark Class 10 paper and its case-based questions, and ICSE families want precise definitions and labelled diagrams across physics, chemistry and biology.

Families who have moved to Hyderabad from other states form a noticeable group. Their children may switch boards and also meet compulsory Telugu up to Class X, so science time gets squeezed. Up to Class 10, one tutor for all three strands usually works well; from Class 11 the requests turn into physics, chemistry and biology specialists.

Where in Hyderabad the work is

Science lessons happen after school, so the trip has to be short. North and east Hyderabad has many independent houses and colonies where a house number and colony name are enough: Uppal, Habsiguda and Nacharam on the Blue Line, Dilsukhnagar, LB Nagar and Vanasthalipuram on the Red Line, and Secunderabad, Marredpally and Tarnaka around Parade Ground. A tutor living there can fit two or three visits in an evening.

Sainikpuri, Alwal and Trimulgherry is cantonment country with no metro; tutors ride a two-wheeler with room to park outside houses, or use MMTS stations such as Alwal, and colony gates near defence areas may check visitors. In Khairatabad, Himayatnagar and Abids, parking in the close lanes is scarce, so arriving by Red or Green Line, Assembly station or the MMTS at Khairatabad is easier than driving.

The western towers bring a different routine. In Gachibowli, Kondapur and Madhapur, a visitor app or security desk logs each arrival, sometimes with a call up to the flat first, so ask to be pre-registered before the demo. HITEC City and Raidurg on the Blue Line and Hafizpet on the MMTS are the usual arrival points.

What families in Hyderabad expect

  • Prepare SSC students for two separate 90-minute science papers on different days.
  • Teach experiments so the student can write the record and notebook work in their own words.
  • Use application questions that are not textbook exercises, in line with the SSC reform intent.
  • For CBSE Class 10, shape answers to the marks and practise case-based questions from sample papers.
  • For ICSE, insist on exact definitions, labelled diagrams and units after every number.
  • Handle all three strands for Classes 6 to 10 and notice when maths is the real problem in a physics question.
  • Be patient with children new to the city who are also catching up on Telugu.

How to get picked

Make your profile read like a plan. "SSC Physical and Biological Science, English medium, Classes 8 to 10" or "CBSE and ICSE science, Classes 6 to 10, with practical record support" tells a parent in one line that you know the paper. Add the zones you can reach after school and whether you also teach online. If you can explain a point in Telugu, mention it; some state-board families value that.

In the demo, pick one recent chapter and ask the student to explain an everyday situation using it, then a short written answer. Show the parent the difference between remembered words and understanding. Describe how you will divide the week between Physical and Biological Science before the board year. Credits, leads and how you get paid are explained further down.

Joining, leads and pay

Joining is free

Applying, onboarding, building your profile, the ID check and receiving matched requests on the Free plan cost nothing. The Free plan gives you 160 lead credits every month.

Paid plans are optional

Pro, Premium and Featured are optional platform subscriptions: more visibility, AI tools and more lead credits. They are never a fee to apply for a tuition. See tutor plans.

How leads and credits work

A family request that fits your subjects, classes, board, areas and hours reaches your dashboard. Opening the family's contact details uses lead credits, and the credit price is shown on the request before you open it. At most 5 tutors can open one request, and a request stays open for 7 days. Credit packs are there if you need more.

How you get paid

You set your own fee. When a family pays for classes through NXTutors, you receive 50% of the fee for home tuition in the first month and the full fee after that, and 70% of the fee for online tuition every month. Payments are held for 7 days, then paid out weekly. How you get paid.

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more.

Questions from tutors

How is SSC science examined in Telangana?

As two papers: Physical Science and Biological Science, 40 written marks each with 10 formative marks each, 1 hour 30 minutes per paper on separate days. Check the current orders on bse.telangana.gov.in.

Can I help with SSC formative work?

You can teach the experiment, the concept and how to write it up, but the record, notebooks and projects must be the student's own work. Headmasters verify formative marks against those records.

Do CBSE families in Hyderabad want science tutors too?

Yes. CBSE students are spread across the city, from Kukatpally's metro corridor to the Gachibowli towers, and they want NCERT-based teaching with sample-paper practice for the Class 10 board.

Which areas are easiest for after-school science lessons?

Colonies near the Red and Blue Lines in the north, east and south-east, where homes are often houses with simple entry. Western towers need visitor registration and take longer at the gate.

Should I teach physics, chemistry and biology together?

Up to Class 10, most families prefer one tutor for all three. From Intermediate or Class 11, they usually look for subject specialists.

Is online science tuition common in Hyderabad?

It is a useful add-on, especially for families in Kokapet or Tellapur where journeys are long. Many keep one home lesson a week and add online revision.
