What home tuition costs in Hyderabad

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. Tutors set their own fee, and you see each tutor's fee before the demo class.

Monthly example: 3 one-hour classes a week ≈ ₹9,600–₹32,500 a month (12–13 classes at ₹800–₹2,500 an hour). An example, not a quote: your tutor's own fee decides the real figure.

CBSE home tutors in Hyderabad and Secunderabad: the board, the stages and the commute

Hyderabad's families sit four broad kinds of examination: the Telangana state board, CBSE, CISCE's ICSE and ISC, and the IB and Cambridge IGCSE in international schools. A CBSE student here may well have friends in the state's SSC and Intermediate system, with its MPC and BiPC groups, and it is easy to pick a tutor trained for the wrong paper. This page explains what CBSE expects from Class 6 to Class 12 under its 2026-27 curriculum, how it differs from the state route, where tutoring usually helps, and how tutors cross a city held together by three metro lines and the MMTS. The maths sections draw on Abhinandan Tiwary, who teaches Class 10 CBSE and ICSE maths; the science sections on Aaditya Kashyap, who teaches CBSE and ICSE science.

CBSE among Hyderabad's four routes

The Hyderabad city hub describes CBSE as one of the four examination routes families here follow. We do not publish a percentage for any board; we have no trustworthy number and the balance shifts between neighbourhoods and schools. For matching, the useful point is narrower: when a parent says "CBSE", we still need the class, the subjects and whether the child is also preparing for an entrance test, because the right tutor for a Class 8 science student and for a Class 12 student juggling coaching are different people.

How CBSE differs from SSC and Intermediate

In Telangana's own system, the Board of Secondary Education conducts the SSC examination after Class 10, and the Board of Intermediate Education runs the two-year Intermediate course, taken in subject groups such as MPC and BiPC. Families should check any detail of that pattern on the state boards' official websites. In general terms, CBSE differs in four ways that affect tuition:

  • One board, Class 1 to Class 12. CBSE students stay with the same board through the senior years rather than moving to a separate Intermediate board.
  • NCERT at the centre. Board papers are written on the NCERT books, so a tutor working from state textbooks or Intermediate material will drift.
  • Competency questions. CBSE's curriculum says about half of each secondary board paper is competency-focused, with cases, sources, data and real situations.
  • School marks in every subject. Internal assessment or practical work carries 20 or 30 marks per subject, so the year's work counts, not just the final paper.

The CBSE stages and where a tutor fits

Class 6 to Class 12 under CBSE, for a Hyderabad family
StageExamsTypical request
Classes 6 to 8School-set; computational thinking and AI literacy added inside subjects from 2026-27Maths basics and reading science chapters with understanding
Class 9School annual exam, 80 marks plus 20 internalAlgebra, geometry and physics basics; whether to try an Advanced paper
Class 10Board paper of 80 with 20 school marks; a second exam to improve up to three subjectsMaths and science first, then a revision plan across all subjects
Class 11School examsThe step up in physics, chemistry, maths or accountancy
Class 12Board theory papers plus practicals or internal marksWhole-syllabus revision, practical files, timed sample papers

Classes 9 and 10: the 2026-27 changes

The secondary curriculum for 2026-27 gives every Class 9 student a common maths and a common science paper, each worth 80 marks over three hours. Students may also add an Advanced paper in maths, science, both or neither: one hour, 25 marks, wholly higher-order questions on extra content. It does not count in the aggregate, though a score of 50% or more is printed on the marksheet. The old Basic and Standard maths split is being phased out, with the 2026-27 Class 10 batch staying on the earlier scheme. A compulsory third language for the transition batches is assessed only by the school, yet must be passed.

Class 10 now has two board exams. The first is for everyone. After passing it, a student may sit the second to raise marks in as many as three of science, maths, social science and the languages; a student who missed three or more subjects in the first cannot. In each major subject, 80 marks come from the board paper and 20 from the school, with 33% the pass mark. Our Class 10 board year plan lays out the months, and the Class 10 maths preparation post covers the chapters.

Classes 11 and 12: subject by subject

The senior curriculum fixes a theory and practical split for each subject. Physics, chemistry and biology are 70 in theory and 30 in practicals. Maths, or applied maths as the alternative, is 80 plus 20 internal. Accountancy, economics and business studies are also 80 plus 20, and computer science is 70 plus 30. The Class 12 board paper covers the complete Class 12 syllabus, and CBSE expects more questions framed in real-life settings.

For a student in entrance coaching, the board tutor's role is complementary: full NCERT answers, units, diagrams and practical records, and sample papers checked against the marking scheme. If the entrance exam is the main aim, see JEE home tutors in Hyderabad or NEET home tutors in Hyderabad, and the Class 12 physics strategies post.

Shape of a useful CBSE session

An hour to ninety minutes, split three ways, works for most classes. It opens with the week's school work: which NCERT exercises were done, which were skipped, and why. Then one chapter is taught or repaired, first from the NCERT explanation and then through exemplar and competency-style questions on the same idea. The last part is writing: two or three board-style answers in full, checked line by line against the marking scheme, with presentation corrected as well as content. Ask the tutor to keep a short record of chapters done, test scores and repeated mistakes, and look at it once a month. If the same errors keep appearing, the plan needs to change.

The subjects Hyderabad parents ask about

Maths and science dominate up to Class 10. In the senior years it is physics, chemistry and maths for engineering aspirants, biology and chemistry for medicine, and accountancy and economics for commerce. English requests usually follow a change of school or board.

Our reference page on how CBSE works from Class 6 to Class 12 explains the marking in more depth.

Home or online?

Along the Red and Blue Lines a tutor can usually reach a home reliably, and home lessons are the default for younger children and for maths, where the tutor needs to watch the working. The city hub also notes that online lessons reach tutors across India, which matters more for rarer senior combinations than for mainstream CBSE subjects. The harder spots are the towers beyond the line, in Gachibowli, Narsingi, Kokapet and Tellapur, and the northern colonies around Alwal; there, a tutor living close by, or a weekly online session alongside a home one, keeps the timetable intact.

What to check in a CBSE demo

  1. Which year's sample paper and marking scheme they use. Anything older than the current session is a warning.
  2. Whether they teach from NCERT rather than state or Intermediate material.
  3. How they handle a case-based question your child has not seen before.
  4. Whether they mark steps, units and diagrams, not just the final answer.
  5. How they would fit around a coaching timetable in Classes 11 and 12.
  6. What they suggest about the Class 9 Advanced papers for your child.

We send two or three matched names, each with a fee you see before the demo, and a later switch is free. Tutors who sign up complete an ID check before the Verified badge appears.

CBSE Home Tutor in Hyderabad (Classes 6–12): common questions

How do I find a CBSE home tutor near my Hyderabad colony?

To find a CBSE home tutor in Hyderabad, share the class, subjects, your colony with a landmark and the slots you can offer. We shortlist two or three matched CBSE tutors who can reach you, often by metro or MMTS, each fee shown before the first class. The first class is a free demo, and switching tutor later is free.

How is CBSE different from Telangana SSC and Intermediate for Hyderabad families?

For Hyderabad families, CBSE runs from school to Class 12 under one board, with papers written on NCERT books and about half of each secondary paper competency-focused. The state system has the SSC after Class 10 and a separate two-year Intermediate course in groups such as MPC and BiPC. Check state details on the boards' websites.

Which board is better for a Hyderabad child, CBSE or the state board?

Neither CBSE nor the Telangana state board suits every Hyderabad child; the right choice depends on the school, the child and any entrance plans. What matters for tuition is that the tutor matches the board your child sits. For a fuller comparison, see our CBSE, ICSE, IB or IGCSE guide.

What is the CBSE Class 9 Advanced paper for Hyderabad students?

For Hyderabad students from 2026-27, the CBSE Class 9 Advanced paper is an optional one-hour, 25-mark test of higher-order questions in maths, science or both. Every student sits the common 80-mark paper. The Advanced paper is not added to the aggregate, and 50% or more is noted on the marksheet.

Can a Hyderabad student improve a CBSE Class 10 result in the second exam?

Yes, a Hyderabad student can improve a CBSE Class 10 result in the second exam, within limits. The first board exam is compulsory, and a student who passes may sit the second to improve up to three subjects among science, maths, social science and languages. Missing three or more subjects in the first exam rules out the second.

How are CBSE Class 12 subjects marked for Hyderabad students?

For Hyderabad students, CBSE Class 12 physics, chemistry and biology each have a 70-mark theory paper and 30 marks of practicals. Maths or applied maths, of which a student takes one, has 80 theory and 20 internal, as do accountancy, economics and business studies. The Class 12 board paper covers the full Class 12 syllabus.

Can a CBSE tutor reach Kokapet, Tellapur or Alwal in Hyderabad?

A CBSE tutor can reach Kokapet, Tellapur or Alwal in Hyderabad with a planned route. Kokapet and Narsingi have no metro station, Tellapur relies on road or the MMTS to Lingampalli, and Alwal is beyond the metro on the Bolarum MMTS route. We look first for tutors living nearby, and suggest one online session a week where travel is long.

Should CBSE lessons in Hyderabad be at home or online beyond the metro lines?

Home CBSE tuition is the default in Hyderabad along the Red and Blue Lines, especially for younger children and maths, where the tutor needs to watch the working. Online matters more for rarer senior combinations than for mainstream CBSE subjects. In towers beyond the line and the northern colonies, a weekly online session alongside a home one keeps the timetable intact.

What does a useful CBSE tuition session in Hyderabad look like?

A useful CBSE tuition session in Hyderabad runs an hour to ninety minutes in three parts: the week's NCERT exercises, then one chapter taught or repaired, then writing. The writing part is two or three board-style answers checked line by line against the marking scheme. Ask the tutor to keep a record of chapters, scores and repeated mistakes.

What should I check in a CBSE demo class in Hyderabad?

In a CBSE demo class in Hyderabad, check which year's sample paper and marking scheme the tutor uses; anything older than the current session is a warning. Confirm they teach from NCERT, mark steps, units and diagrams, and handle an unseen case-based question well. Ask how they would fit around a Class 11 or 12 coaching timetable.

What does a CBSE home tutor cost in Hyderabad?

Across NXTutors, most home-tuition sessions fall between ₹800 and ₹2,500 an hour; Classes 11–12, IB/IGCSE and JEE/NEET sit toward the upper end; specialists for IB HL or JEE Advanced can charge more. For CBSE in Hyderabad, the class, number of subjects, sessions a week and the tutor's route to your colony set the fee, which you see before the free demo.
